In the past I have had a good experience here, that's why I returned. But this time a different lady really messed up. I asked if a specific medicine was available in Portugal, showed her the specifications, and she ensured me repeatedly that this, or something similar is not available and has never been. I then went to another pharmacy in Lagos and they made the effort to check their computer and informed me it was available, under which name, and other details.

Sold me a prescription antihistamine at twice the price of the over the counter formulation! 48 hours later it hasn't even had any effect, so now I have to go and buy the over the counter one that has always within a few hours.

Disappointed I must be a very stupid Irish tourist! I went into this Farmacia to buy a mosquito spray and some antacid tablets but, of course, since chemists in Ireland don’t have a ticket machine where you can only get served if you take a ticket, I just joined the queue. When i got to the top of the queue and reached the lady at the counter she told me I must have a ticket and proceeded to serve another lady who had just come in the front door - presumably a local who knew about the ticket. Even though I tried to explain that I didn’t know about the ticket. The lady who had just come in the door might have stood back and let me be served - but she didn’t, because I’m a tourist and I don’t know any better! So I had to go and get a ticket and queue up again, only this time the serving lady had gone out the back thereby reducing the servers to one!! Oh dear, stupid ol’ Irish tourist me I really should learn the rule about the tickets next time - shouldn’t I? Thank you for the lesson, Farmacia Telo.

Pleasant staff and helpful. Make sure you ask for the cheapest option as there is huge difference in price of medicines. Generic brands are the same drugs. Don't expect an English type pharmacy or Boots. This is not how Portuguese pharmacies work. They sell drugs and prescriptions and limited supplies of lotions and potions.
