When you cancel you insurance , don’t think you get the rest on your money back in a few days . Takes ages with proof and stop answers emails after a time .

We have been a customer of Abbeygate since we moved to Portugal. We insure our cars, house and boat with them. We deal with Nathalie whom is a pleasure to deal with, she speaks English and is extremely knowledgeable on what is required in Portugal. I needed urgent assistance a couple of weeks ago and I contacted Natalie whom assisted us and ensured we had the insurance necessary to travel back to Portugal. (Thank you Natalie). I have no hesitation in recommending this company for insurance needs in the Algarve.

Abbeygate was efficient offering an insurance policy for my villa in the Algarve. However, after having sold the house, they really got creedy. The demanded in fees and expenses amounting € 72 Euros for an insurance policy that cost € 228 p.a. That is daylight robbery!

I recently had me Can Am Spyder trike matriculated in Portugal now that we have retired to the country. When looking into getting insurance I found that unlike UK it was going to be very difficult to get a reasonably priced Comprehensive Insurance Policy. The norm was TPFT pretty much everywhere I went which worried me as the Spyder is an expensive vehicle. Almost resigned to accepting TPFT I made one last enquiry to Abbeygate Insurance. Nathalie, who dealt with my enquiry, was absolutely marvelous and worked really hard to secure a Comprehensive Policy and further more negotiate a 50% reduction in premium on my behalf. I was delighted with the outcome and can highly recommend this company.

Nathalie was absolutely amazing. I called 5 minutes before closing time, in desperate need of insurance having been messed around for two weeks by another company. Amazing! Switching back and forth between countries we forgot to renew our car insurance. So I turned to Nathalie at Abbeygate on the day of our travel to Portugal/Spain and we got a great insurance at a very good price within three hours. Really efficient, friendly and peace of mind. We now have all our insurances in two countries covered by them, not by design but simply because they offer better and faster services and products.

What a great speedy and professional service.
I changed address contacted Abbeygate and in 24 hours my motor policy documents came back on line with the changes. I made an error in my post code, I emailed Nathalie and gave her the correct code and in 10 minutes my corrected documents dropped into my inbox.
I am now looking for quotations for home and health.

Nathalie turned things around very quickly when I traded in my Toyota for an Audi Q5 and gave me options as to insuring the Q5 for the remaining period of the existing Toyota policy or a year from receipt of the Q5. The latter proved to be the best option.

Abbeygate offered me the policy I was looking for at a very competitive price but most important was the fantastic customer service they gave me, right from the start from my initial enquiry to obtaining my cover, and even after they continue to assist with policy details etc
never have I felt that my questions were looked on as a nuisance in fact I was treated with the upmost respect and courtesy at all time

Natalie handled the renewal of our annual couples travel insurance with the minimum of fuss and the maximum of professionalism and service.
What a star. It was so refreshing not to be hanging on to a call centre or being up-sold or having to go through meaningless detail.
Really impressive. It is not easy in these difficult times to get ex-pat travel insurance, but Natalie and this company make it easy, simple and very good value.

Was promised my €1500 a year health insurance policy info would be in English as I don’t yet speak Portuguese. Once first premium was taken told its not possible and if you don’t want the cover stop your direct debit.
