Terrible Tourist Trap. The food is overpriced and not very good at all. Just churning through daytrippers who will never come back so they don't really need to bother with good service or quality produce. Explore a little and find something much better.

Worst english breakfast i have gotten. Too much salt on the mushrooms and bacon, hard grilled tomato (didnt know that was possible), watery baked beans. The toast was good!

I felt that the food here was okay, but not as good compared to some other Portuguese restaurants that I tried while visiting Cascais and Lisbon. I did like the steak cooked in coffee (it was a friend's dish, not mine). I didn't like the Bacalhau à Brás (cod mixed up with potatoes and eggs) very much.

Serveurs très sympa et les plats excellents vraiment nous avons pris un bar grillé parfait et les côtelettes d’agneau cuites comme il le faut et mousse au chocolat je recommande très bonne ! Bref venez ici si vous passer sur cascais

Service et serveurs très sympas, cuisine simple mais plats imposants, le vin de la maison servi est plutôt très bon; à éviter les jours d'évènements sportifs car de nombreux écrans avec du sport.

Just came upon this place, as it was lunchtime my wife and I took a table outside. We had a few beers and decided on the prawn salad for my wife and I opted for the sardines. Both meals were very well presented and did not disappoint.

This place was terrible. The service was horrible, the waiter we had was rude and discriminatory against people of color as well as LGBT people. He was old, bald, and short and would not look us in the eyes when he addressed us and threw our credit card and receipt at us when we paid the bill. Avoid this tourist trap at all costs.

Normalito, tirando a mal.
No me gustó nada la prisa que tenía el camarero para que nos sentáramos.
Pasamos mucho calor y las moscas nos lo hicieron muy desagradable.
Tomamos un asado que lo único que se libraba era la ternera. El pollo muy seco, el cerdo sabía a viejo.
Si que es verdad que vi unos pescado con buena pinta., igual elegimos mal.

We waited 15 minutes after being seated for someone to greet us and request drink orders. Finally got tired of waiting and left for another option. When we did leave we were rudely berated for our choice.

Best traditional pub in cascais. Have the grilled chicken and get in early to watch footie there. Family owned. They also own the restaurant by the garden which produces the grilled chicken. Good Guinness.

Excellente cuisine traditionnelle portugaise. Le poisson grillé est une merveille et les prix raisonnables. On y a mangé un soir et un midi et l'attente est correcte. Les serveurs agréables et souriants. Merci à vous.

Wonderful venue for lunch, with tv for guests who wish to watch sport, like Rugby and Football. Food was excellent, between 4 of us the Lasagna, Perri Perri Chicken and Squid Lagariero were all great. One of the best lunches we have had whilst holidaying in Portugal. Value for money, staff were great and spoke well.

Adorei tudo neste restaurante:
- Super bem localizado na área mais nobre e das mais bonitas de Cascais;
- Ambiente tipicamente inglês com bom gosto e lembrando os tradicionais PUBs;
- Atendimento TOP desde a recepção até os garçons. O colaborador que nos atendeu era super educado, atencioso e conhecia muito bem os pratos oferecidos;
- A comida estava magnífica ! Pedimos o Beef John Bull (com molho da casa) e o Tornedor com molho madeira. Ambos muito saborosos.
Conclusão: RECOMENDO COM ÊNFASE, pois certamente retornarei várias vezes.

My family wanted old style Fish & Chips which was precisely what they got and it was brilliant and of high quality fresh fish. I had the Sardines which is always hard work to eat but again it was of high quality. You wont be disappointed. Great setting as well!

We came to Cascais for a day, and had lunch at this pub.
Really good service, friendly staff.
We ordered a "Bacalhau a lagareiro" (cod with roasted potatoes), and it was tasteful, and good amount of food for two.

One of those tourist traps. Waiter asked me to go inside to pay after eating when a group of tourists just paid on their table.
Warning: double check your bill !!!
Food took time to be served when there was very very few customers at about 5pm. Poor service, unfortunately
Sardines was not bad though and tasted well together with the potatoes and salad
Staffs looked underpaid and unhappy.

Really nice staff, quick service,
Was cool outside with the evening breeze and patio heaters would not be out of place, had the mixed platter for two and the meat was lovely ,with a love side salad,

Expensive prices for below average food.... Then they tried to fob us off with just a screen shot of the total bill.....
Didn't want us to see the 5 extra covers they had squeezed onto the bill...
And the €3.50 for a tiny little bowl of "sandwich spread" which they called pate!
Will never go back again!

Food barely ok and overcharged more than €30. They have signs outside saying “piri piri chicken, but it’s not on the menu, we asked was the “Charcoal chicken” on the menu piri piri and they said yes, but it was NOT piri piri. My wife’s lasagne was probably from a ‘ready meal’ packet, my daughters Spaghetti was quite tasteless, my Portuguese steak was fine, but very chewey. The house red wine was nice.

We chose the seafood paella with lobster. Which cost extra €11 and was almost non existent with dried up meat in legs. Most disappointing.

Nothing special. Service friendly but quite slow. Food was mediocre at best. Situated in a small square with a few other restaurants where they all do the hard sell to get you in as you walk by. Probably a hit or miss affair depending on how busy they are.

I really recommend the sea bass, it is amazing. They can help you remove the bones if you want. All the fish comes with potatoes and boiled vegetables. My mother had the squid with prawns, she thought it was a bit too oily but I loved that too. The waiter was attentive but I appreciate when they aren’t too pushy.

I had a Guinness draft beer, which was amazing!
He waiters are good! They had a lot of patience with us, because we were a bog table of a loud family but they placed us in the upper floor, just us! So we could be loud as much as we wanted because we were the only customers in that floor!
It is traditional of this part of town! Worth visiting to see how it is!

J'y retourne chaque année. Mon favori est le steack maison "john bull" un vrai régal !! Idéalement situé au centre ville, il permet aussi au amateurs de sports de visionner les matchs sur l'écran.

Got to be the best pub in Cascais...
Ignore the name, it isn't your typical 'expat British boozer in the Sun' far from it we were the only Brits there when we visited on more than one occasion.
The Portuguese staff did what the Portuguese do, they made us very welcome and were friendly and cheerful.
The food was excellent as was the football cameradie and banter between the staff and visitors..
The beer and wine is all rather good as well

Not good. Some of our party had pasta (not me thankfully) and it was unbelievably awful. I had the roasted chicken which was edible, but a lot of unhappy faces. Avoid.

Local que atrae por su fachada. Decidimos tomar algo antes de cenar. Como de costumbre te traen pan con mantequilla y unas aceitunas. Nos quedamos con estas últimas las cuales las cobraron a 0,90€. Pedimos unas sardinas con muy buena presentación. Estaban poco hechas y un sabor pasable. Las hay mucho mejores por la zona de Calcihas (Almeda). Por el mismo precio el doble de ración y sabrosisimas.

Owner and staff are super friendly and spoke good English. Beware of the deceiving menu price, Tory charge 1.9 Euro for bread and butter per person when the menu clearly stated per order. Also they will try to throw in a cheese along with the bread which will be charged 4 Euro. Stay away from grilled sea bream. They employ bait and switch if you don't know your fishes well enough. Overall, decent place for lunch.

We went to get a beer and see the game. The beer selection is just awful: only one beer on tap and it's super Bock, the ultra-industrial lager...
The people welcoming us were really friendly to usher us in, but as soon as we were seated our waiter was sullen.
I wouldn't recommend.

Um dos restaurantes mais clássicos de cascais. Tem o famoso e óptimo "Bife à John Bull". Atmosfera super acolhedora. Tem zona para ver desporto em grandes ecrãs e tem zona mais tranquila e serena. Parte da equipa é ainda a mais antiga e com tratamento diferente. Super central.

It has both indoor and outdoor sitting. The service is quick, respectful and the food quality is really good. You can enjoy alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks along with some great food. Since its in the middle of the street and surrounded by other similar restaurants, the prices are competitive.

The food was awful. My wife ordered sardines and I ordered steak. When our dishes came, my wife's sardines were almost raw and she sent them back for a second cooking. As for my steak, although I told them I wanted it very well done, it was almost raw too, and I could not eat it. The waiter didn't even bother to ask why I hadn't eaten it. It is better to avoid this place.

Infelizmente o atendimento não fez justiça ao capricho da cozinha.
Comemos uma grelhada de frutos do mar muito boa, mas para ser servida , fui obrigada a me levantar 3 vezes em busca do garçon.
Garçon indelicado prejudica um restaurante.
Sem contar que a sala p os clientes q não fumam exige q se suba 2 lances de escada.
O restaurante parece castigar o não fumante , em detrimento dos que não controlam seu vício . Espantoso ! No sentido contrário do mundo , onde os fumantes estão cada vez mais segregados.

The only good thing her is the location. It's mostly for tourists, wouldn't recommend as a place to visit. It's nice to sit outside though or for an afternoon beer.

O John Bull esta situado no centro de Cascais, desde 1967, é um espaço cujo ambiente nos transporta para o típico Pub Inglês,muito acolhedor no inverno e na época quente podemos desfrutar da fantástica esplanada num ambiente mais descontraído onde podemos ouvir nas mesas circundantes, sotaques de todo o mundo e Jazz ao vivo. A comida é óptima e o atendimento também.
