What a great day! We were met by Fiona who helped us get boarded on the boat. Our skipper was Luis who was both knowledgeable about the journey and passionate about the river and environment. He made the whole experience Really interesting with his stories about the history of the river, and fishing industry. This truly was a trip well worth making. Silves was a beautiful town to explore filled with history going back to roman times and an important town during the crusades. Thank you both for a wonderful day.

We signed up for the Caves Tour with Luis, a retired local fisherman, who is a one-man captain, tour guide, local historian, and entertaining raconteur. His converted open fishing boat the Reis Jorge is one of the last wooden craft in Ferragudo and provides an authentic feel to the relaxing two hour tour along the coast to view the beautiful and dramatic cliffs and sea caves up close. Booking was easy to do on-line; we were greeted quayside on arrival by very cheery and helpful Paula. A definite must-do when in the western Algarve. Highly recommended.

Luis, ancien pêcheur, est un excellent guide, très sympathique. Sa barque traditionnelle en bois, à moteur, aux couleurs portugaises vous emmènera, soit le long de la côte pour découvrir les grottes marines, soit juste la cité médiévale de Silves, en remontant la rivière Arade. Un enchantement. À Silves vous disposez de deux heures pour visiter la ville. Boissons fraîches offertes dans la barque. Deux excursions à ne pas manquer. Dépaysement garanti et l’occasion d’un peu de fraîcheur sous le soleil d’Algarve. Luis vous guidera en anglais.

Luis was such a energetic and beautiful person. He showed us many caves and tells us about how fisherman's live is. Because he was a fisherman his whole live. Great relaxing tour on a small boat!
