My wife and I for many years have stayed in Faro. Not only did we look forward to our breaks in Portugal but visiting the Columbus bar was part of the holiday we looked forward to. What on earth has happened. We noticed things changing on the previous visit but things have gone from bad to worse. Once a magical place with expert bar staff who knew all there was to know, comfortable cushions and seating and fantastic drinks but now young staff who have little training if any, plastic seats and zero atmosphere. We ordered our usual drinks, Vintage Gin and tonic, the young man took our order but was unclear what this drink was, went away and then came back and asked again. The drinks came out much faster than usual but what should have been a clear drink (and in the past slices of lime with lots of floating herbs ) we were presented with an opaque drink no sliced lime and a single mint leaf. When we asked another member of staff why was it opaque she said that was lime juice from a bottle that the staff squeezed earlier to save on time !
I took a sip and there was little Gin in this drink if any, and I guess that the tonic came from a hose dispenser with the lime juice a bought in concentrate form . I have to say we complained and left, never to return. The drinks are not cheap but we were happy to pay for the experience in the past. As a company director I can spot businesses cutting corners whilst trying to maximise profits. No one is sadder than us that such a magical place has turned into a third rate bar that cannot be bothered to slice lime. Next time we visit Faro I wouldn't be surprised if the Columbus bar is closed.

Delicious cocktails and pretty good service. It's expensive for the area, but the prices are what we expect back home. The quality is higher here. We had the Pina Colada, Whiskey Sour, Smoke Tiki, and the Zombie Lychee. All were excellent. There's food available too but we didn't sample it.

We had a great te at this place. Truly an amazing place for Cocktail lovers. We had 1 too many from the menu and the Bar Tender was happy to make 1 off the menu as well. You cant miss the Naughty Holidays, Evil Inside Me, Smoke Tiki & most importantly - Sr. Professor. Worth the drive for us all the way from Lagos !

It has been a very disappointing aperitivo time given by an extremely slow service (40 minutes to get a cheese platter) and scarce service level (they were not able to explain me which kind of vermouth I could drink, nor the names of the cheeses I had in front). For such a bar which pretends to be “chic” and high profile, such an experience is una unacceptable.

Sehr gut! Zu einer Flasche Wein gibt es Tapas dazu. 14 Euro inkl. gratis Tapas für eine sehr gute Flasche Wein sind echt ok. Darüber hinaus ist es ein schönes Ambiente dort am Abend zu sitzen!

Nettes Ambiente mit ausgefallenen Cocktails die geschmacklich etwas besser sein könnten. Service Gedanke ist leider komplett nicht vorhanden - eine Bedienung die nicht bedient - da habe ich lieber Selbstbedienung. Preise sind auch etwas zu hoch für Portugal mit rund 8-10€ für einen mittelmäßigen Cocktail

Superb and definitely a must-visit!
One of the finest bars in Portugal. An outstanding variety of cocktails and an excellent quality of service. We were particularly impressed by the stylish menu, where you could find detailed information about the history, quantity, ingredients, alc. strenght and - fitness freaks watch out - even the calories! of each cocktail. Totally loved it!

Amazing cocktails and by US standards, not too expensive. Price range about €7-11 each for cocktails that would easily cost $20 in Los Angeles. I had the bramble and my friend had the Mexicana. Both excellent.

Lugar fantástico para tomar un Gin Tonic con muy buena preparación. Le doy solo tres estrellas porque deja mucho que desear que solo utilicen botellines de refrescos con la tónica, y que cualquier cubata con otro tipo de refrescos (cocacola, seven up, fanta...) lo echen mediante tirador de tanque, y no es apropiado con el precio de la bebida solicitada. El bar dispone de una gran terraza exterior y de una habitación interior bastante bonita decorada. Los precios de los cafés son algo excesivos.

eine Bar direkt am Hafen, mit ausgefallenen Cocktails zu absolut fairen Preisen, das Ambiente ist ausgefallen und die Musik war gut ... leider machte die Bedienung unseres zweiten Besuches die gute Arbeit des Barkeepers etwas kaputt, da er unaufmerksam und abgelenkt war (wurde aber mit einem Kaffee aufs Haus entschuldigt) hier sollte man unbedingt einkehren und sich durch die Cocktails trinken

É um espaço que recomendo vivamente para quem gosta de ir espairecer depois de jantar! O Columbus oferece uma extensa lista de cocktails servidos com a máxima simpatia e profissionalismo. O menu dos cocktails está bastante bem construído, neste, os cocktails são apresentados de forma detalhada, incluindo todos os ingredientes e devidas quantidades e é acompanhado de uma fotografia, que eu diria, que até é bastante realista. Como disse, o menu está mesmo muito bem estruturado e facilita a escolha para pessoas que, como eu, não são muito entendidas neste mundo.
Eu provei o "La Catrina", inserida nas bebidas feitas com Tequilla, fiquei encantada, não só com o sabor mas também com o aroma e a apresentação!
Para além dos cocktails, o menu inclui também comida, pelo que também pode ser uma boa opção para uma refeição

O bar ate é agradavel mas torna-se i.possivel de la estar, demasiada gente. Fomos 2 casais sentamos numa mesa so passado 20 minutos é que aparecu o empregado de mesa, depois do pedido esperamos mais 20 minutos e nao teouxe as bebidas, intrepelamos o mesmo funcionário, que nem fazia a minima ideia do pedido, tirou o pedido de novo, esperámos mais uns 20 minutos e o funcionário andava de um lado para o outro a conversar com amigos acabámos por ir embora sem beber absolutamente nada, viram-nos a ir embora e nem questionaram o porquê... por isso se esta a pensar em beber um copo com os amigos aqui não vai conseguir, fomos ao Inocent bar e fomos atendidos em 5 minutos e bebemos umas 5 rodadas....

O Bar de Faro. Se queres uma noite elegante com cocktails de excelência é o local a ir. Barmans de topo a servir bebidas de topo num ambiente que não se encontra igual pela cidade. Se não sabes o que pedir, tentar deixar a criatividade nas mãos dos barmans que estes irão surpreender.

J'y suis allé deux fois.
La première fois j'ai pris un Daiquiri Mulata
J'ai désespérement cherché un gout d'alcool et les fruits étaient encore congelés dans le verre.
La deuxieme fois j'ai pris un Cosmopolitanet j'ai vaguement senti la vodka mais le tout baignait dans tellement de glace (eau) que c'était insipide.
Ils ont atteint le maximum à faire quand on remplace l alcool par des glaçons a un prix de 7€ alors que c est presque que de la glace.
Alors ok ils servent ca dans des verres de maniere parfois original mais le contenant ne fait pas le contenu.

Ficará se dúvida na memória enquanto desfrutar da degustação da mesma.. .escrevo isto porque acontece na primeira pessoa .
Para quem no final de tarde quiser "picar", e beber um copo de vinho ou imperiais com amigos, existe uns petiscos à medida certa.

Fantastic atmosphere, we visited on both Friday and Saturday nights. Huge selection of cocktails, wines, beers and tapas. Staff friendly and efficient. Reasonably priced.

Cócteles a dolor y servidos en copas temáticas. La verdad es que a mi los cócteles ya me saben todos igual, pero bueno, eso ya es un criterio subjetivo. La música es top (no pusieron despacito ). Las lámparas son del chino, en plan literal, no en plan despectivo, que son chinas.

Not only are their cocktails great, interesting and innovative but a few of the members of staff here are also wonderfully accommodating.

Trendy, chic, classy. It's made better with the patio setting. It's got a cracking menu and does a mean cocktail that really is top notch. Staff ate very friendly and do their bit for your good experience. Bit pricey. Does everything great but missing a standout feature for 5 stars. Certainly worth your time!

Wannabe Cocktail bar with no sence of Customer service...After 20 Minutes waiting for someone to take the Order, in the half empty bar, we had to order at the bar...We ordered Negroni and watched the bartender Mixing it. And now the big disappointment comes... A cocktalbar who makes Negronis with Martini Rosso instead of Vermouth?! Really, guys???No 7.50 worth...

Nice relaxed bar by day. A bit too quiet for my liking. Has a TV outside showing sports by night. Again a little to laid back for my liking. But if that's what you like, you will love it.

I really enjoyed my visit to Columbus, just off the square in Faro. The outside seating area is a really pleasant place to sit with a cold beer and watch life go on in the central square, or alternatively watch the live football broadcasts they have on their large outdoor screens.
Alternatively inside there is a querky medieval room with exposed stonework and modern furnishings, well air conditioned for if its a little too hot outside.
All in all a very pleasant venue, friendly staff that produce excellent cocktails and smoothies. My only complaint is their choice of Carlsberg as there tapped lager.
