Italian Chef Luca Salvadori puts Lisbon on the map for being one of the cities outside Italy offering the best Italian food. Coming from Torino, Luca serves the best genuine examples of Italian cuisine. His antipasto with fresh burrata melts in your mouth .His pasta is home made. He personally attends to every detail. For dessert ...he prepares and serves his “to die for”tiramisu in front of you which is a pleasant watch. His wine list is deep with both high rated italian and portuguese bottles .Squeezed in a tiny street, like a hole in the wall, it is a hard to discover place unless you have heard about it. But word of mouth reputation now fills up this trattoria and you need a reservation to get your chance of tasting Luca’s dishes.

Fabulous friendly atmosphere with delicious food. The service is second to none. We had the dégustation menu and not only was it beautifully presented and mouth watering, it was the perfect amount of food. Highly recommended!!

Wir hatten an einem Montag Abend einen Tisch für 4 Personen reserviert. Wir gingen in das Restaurant und bestellten 2 Spaghettiteller mit Muscheln und 2 mit Schweinefleisch. Die Bedienung nahm die Bestellung entgegen. 5min später kam die Kellerin wieder und sagte, sie habe nur noch eine Portion vom Schwein. Sie empfahl mir das teurere Fleischgericht. Ich entschied mich dagegen und wollte sodann die Tortellini probieren. Als ich die Bestellung aufgab sagte mir die Kellnerin, diese hätten sie auch nicht. Ich bin mir vorgekommen als wollte das Restaurant die Resten bei uns verwerten. Ich habe ein solches Verhalten noch nie erlebt und bin zu tiefst enttäuscht! Von einem Restaurant mit so hohen Preisen (Tortellini hätten 19.50 € gekostet) erwarte ich einen anderen Service.
Als wir dann gegangen sind aus lauter Enttäuschung, hat sich niemand darum bemüht uns zu besänftigen. Wir hatten das Gefühl, die Angestellten waren froh darüber, dass wir gingen.
Ein absolutes No-Go!!!

Food was fantastic, the only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because the prices are unreasonable. It’s too expensive and the portions are a bit small. But everything was delicious. The steak was a bit cold, but the pasta was great and dessert was amazing.

The vibe is great and so is the service.The food is good.The ravioli great the pasta Tagliatelle was a little undercooked just 30 seconds more the bolognese was great.The tiramisu was tableside and amazing.It is really a 4.5 rating as it states.The menu is small but a great stop to eat

Spaghetti alle vongole per 4 persone ,tutti i piatti presentavano tanta sabbia, immangiabili!!!!. Pessimo esempio di cucina italiana. Tra l altro ogni piatto al costo di quasi 20 euro. Una follia!!!!

Das Menü war großartig, wie auch die Weinempfehlung. Carolina im Service, sowie der Maitre-Chefkoch Luca, ein Dreamteam. Vorspeise, Hauptgang und auch Dessert beim zweiten Besuch 5 Sterne!!!!

Piccolo ristorante di cucina italiana guidato da un simpatico e bravo chef torinese. Il locale è un po' nascosto e l'interno non è particolarmente curato, ma la cucina è ottima e la proposta dei vini interessante. Notevole il tiramisù di giornata preparato al tavolo al momento. Prezzi nella norma.

Recommendation if you are looking for Italian food in a place with good atmosphere. I tried the hand-made Ravioli and they were delicious. Good wines, too. And very friendly service. Try the Tiramisu when approaching the finish.

What an incredibly awesome and authentic Italian restaurant!!! An amazing little piece of Italy at the heart of Old Lisbon! I’m Italian and really know Italian food! Of course there regional flavours and old recipes for “Italian Food” having said this, Italian food, is all about fresh produce, fresh handmade pasta, fresh handmade sauce, wines and wow; lemoncello!
Very good, friendly and courteous service! Hidden away in a not so busy Main Street, here, an Italian institution, a treasure is found! I’m so impressed im having difficulty expressing how good this place, food and wines Il Covo offers. Definitely on the very top of the restaurants in Lisbon. It’s very worth your while to come and experience superb authentic freshly made Italian food. Salute

Excellent italian food in the Santos-o-Velho parish. Prefix was an amazing value with a beautiful multiple starter platter, exquisitely executed Piedmontese style pasta and perfectly cooked sirloin. All followed by three dessert platter. Aquadente and lemoncello to finish. Service completely attentive and engaged. Yum yum.

Dieses Restaurant ist ein MUSS bei jedem Besuch in Lissabon!! Urchiges Ambiente, sehr nette und kompetente Bedienung und geniales, frisches Essen (z.B. Dessert wird vor Ort zubereitet). Auch die Pasta wird direkt vor dem Essen von Hand angefertigt. Preis-Leistung ist super!

An absolute gem of a restaurant. We chose the fixed menu with meat, it was amazing. Every course was better than the next. And the dessert so delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive. We got to know Orlando and he even showed us pictures of his adorable grand baby. We loved it, and will recommend it to any friends and family who visit Lisbon.

Je suis venue pour retrouver une ambiance italienne, des saveurs italiennes, une quantité en pâtes dans l'assiette, le tiramisu fait devant le client non : il manque juste un savoir faire professionnel, pas de bacs en plastiques, ni des gands pour tremper le badoit mais des couverts à manipuler des bols à l'assiette. Et puis beaucoup trop de personnel dans la cuisine : tout devrait sortir nickel avec du goût soleil et fraîcheur basilic tomate feuille de menthe et un peu plus dans la présentation.
Il ne faut pas vivre sur ses lauriers mais juste se resaisir.

Tive a oportunidade de almoçar num registo de grupo neste restaurante e talvez por ter sido aberto apenas para o grupo o atendimento não foi o melhor , não havendo sobremesas e por vezes o atendimento foi algo lento. A comida foi razoável e todo o pacote pelo preço fechado também foi justo no entanto existe muito a melhorar. Talvez ao jantar num registo a lá carte o atendimento seja diferente mas não fiquei com vontade de voltar.

Without a doubt, this was one of the best meals and experiences I have ever had. Gracious, friendly, and lovable staff in the front-of-house. The pre fixe menu of the night (€34) was nothing short of amazing. The pictures speak for themselves. We were very lucky to find this gem, and our evening spent there will be memorable for many years to come

Restaurant in a small street, attractive for tourists from the north who are doing the pasta that can be watched. The restaurant does not have enough air and is surrounded by empty bottles. Ideal for art souls and guests looking for the hidden corners of Lisbon. Food is solid.

Seriously the best Italian restaurant I Had the Chance to try in my life. I live next to Italy and can say the food was just the same, home made pasta, home made Tiramisu made in front of you (never had that before). Super friendly service, really good wine, I définitly recomend.

If you want to have a situation where you would be sad, if you knew that you had the opportunity to meet TIAGO (The Server) and you never used it... then this is the place for you. The food is very good, actually really good... but I recommend you to take the special menu of the day and leave your lunch or dinner to Il Covos hands - they will make it if you give them a chance. And, hope you meet TIAGO, The Superman of this restaurant, with special humour. This should be good review, and the restaurant would be good, if you give them a chance as you totally should - totally.

Awesome food, the best in 7 days of Lisbon. We (4p) took the suggestion menu of 39€ and it was totally worth it.
Really nice starters, main course paste and main course meat was delicious, the desert tiramisu was out of this world.
On top of that, the service was super!

Abbiamo cenato in questo ristorante a metà della nostra vacanza, spinti dalla mancanza dei sapori di casa.
Siamo rimasti piacevolmente colpiti dalla gentilezza del personale, dalla varietà del menù in grado di soddisfare sia gli amanti del pesce che della carne, ma soprattutto dalla qualità delle materie prime e dalla passione con cui queste sono state cucinate e servite.
Abbiamo mangiato un antipasto di pesce crudo ed una battuta di vitello, i plin allo zafferano con ripieno di ossobuco, il “filetto ancestrale” davvero superbo ed un altrettanto tenerissimo filetto di maiale, accompagnato da un contorno di verdure di stagione; il tutto coronato da un superbo tiramisù preparato sul momento ed alleggerito a seguire da un fresco limoncello.
Consigliamo vivamente questo locale a tutti coloro che amano mangiare bene e che sono desiderosi di ritrovare i gusti di casa, anche in chiave portoghese.

Il Covo is an italian restaurant where evertyng is made with love like in Italy. The chef Luca Salvadori concept to recreate the real italian taste with local raw material is incredible. If you would like to find the "Italianity" you have to go. STRONGLY SUGGESTED

Un petit restaurant perdu dans de petites ruelles de Lisbonne mais qui vaut le déplacement !!!
Nous avons très très bien mangé de l entrée au dessert assez spectaculaire puisque l on vous prépare sous vos yeux un super tiramisu !
L’accueil était super et très convivial nous avons eu le droit à une petite musique de Jacques Brel spécialement pour nous puisque nous venions de France ! Nous reviendrons !!!!

Great traditional Italian food with Portuguese influence.
The set menus are a great way to taste the different flavours.
Highly recommended the Tiramisù: it reminded me the traditional Italian Tiramisù that I used to eat back in Piacenza.

We were surprised that Il Covo was hidden away just 100 feet from our apartment. Service was excellent, friendly and welcoming. The food has exceeded our expectations on all 3 visits so far! We'll be back!

Locale pulito e ben tenuto. Camerieri gentili molto disponibili e cordiali; parlano molte lingue e per questo riescono a soddisfare ogni esigenza.
I piatti sono particolari e buonissimi, consiglio di scegliere il menu degustazione poiché il rapporto qualità prezzo è ottimo.

Very cozy and welcoming with delicious food and an excellent wine list!! The sauce on my pasta was so delicious, I asked for bread so I could eat every last drop! The tiramisu is made at the table and outstanding!! If looking for authentic Italian food, this will leave you with a full belly and happy heart!

il miglior ristorante di Lisbona , ho avuto il piacere di poter mangiare con la mia ragazza un menu degustazione che ho adorato ,mozzarella buonissima , la pasta fatta davanti ai miei occhi con un elaborazione dei piatti mai scontata, un posto che consiglierei a chi si vuole regalare una bella serata con buon cibo ed atmosfera divertente che mi ha reso

What a find, my daughter saw the review and said let's try it. Needless to say we were not disappointed, we all opted for the meat fixed menu, both my wife and I said that we have never had such a tasty well presented starter in our lives. The pasta was amazing and the main was divinely cooked steak. The sweets board was exceptional with the tiramisu made right in front of you, again the best we have ever had, if you get a chance do not miss this one. A bonus was that the waiter spoke English French Italian German and Portuguese and had a quirky sense of humour

Best ravioli in our lives ! Stuffed with beef, truffles and mushrooms! Beautiful wine to match! And desert made in front of you! Must have the tiramisu! Gingha to finish ana limoncello from the region. Perfect service! So much fun! They make the pasta fresh in the back! Very hidden. Book in advance!

Wir waren zu zweit aufgrund einer mehrtägigen Städtereise in Lissabon in diesem Restaurant essen. Es fängt damit an, dass der Kellner zunächst einmal erzählt, man würde alles spontan zubereiten der Küche und auf alle extra Wünsche eingehen. Wir fragten dann nach einer Portion Bruschetta (Was nicht auf der Karte stand) und der Kellner fragte nur was ist das denn genau sein? Komisches italienisches Restaurant! Als meine Freundin nach einer vegetarischen Nudelsalat und er fragte sagte dieser nur sie können Nudeln mit Tomatensoße und etwas Mozzarella zubereiten. Das war es dann.
Als Vorspeise bekommen sie ungefragt (auch wenn sie nichts bestellen) eine Platte mit drei verschiedenen Vorspeisenvarianten vorgesetzt. Ich kam mir vor wie ein Hund, dem einfach essen platziert wird. Komischerweise akzeptierten alle anderen Tische dieses Vorgehen, aßen die gesamte Platte auf und bezahlten ganz artig 18 € für diese Platte!
Ansonsten war das Hauptgericht lecker und nett angerichtet, jedoch hat mich der sehr unfreundliche, freche Service und die totale Unflexibilität sehr abgeschreckt.
Klare Empfehlung, dieses Restaurant nicht zu besuchen. Es gibt in Lissabon deutlich bessere Alternativen

What a place! Great chef, great hosts and amazing food! Luca showed us his craft by letting in to his kitchen. A fantastic experience. We are only staying a few nights in Lisbon but going back again it is that good!

Ottimo ristorante italiano, abbina la cucina tipica italiana con le materie prime della zona. Poi Luca è veramente una brava persona ed è anche molto piacevole farci 2 chiacchiere.
I prezzi per un piatto di pasta si aggirano intorno ai 14€
