아프리칸 스타일의 포르투갈 음식이에요. 서비스 친절하고 입맛에도 적당히 맞고 가격도 저렴해요. 단 현금만 받습니다. 기타 연주도 있다는데 못봐서 아쉬웠어요. 시간 된다면 불금으로 안전하게 스케줄 맞추시길. 토요일 저녁에 갔는데 그 전날에 무리해서 오늘은 어떨지 모르겠다고 하더군요. 병아리콩 스튜와 코코넛소스의 참치 스테이크 먹었는데 양이 적은 여자 셋이서 잘 먹고 왔어요.

Mesa Kreol.... A MUST restaurant if you ever visit Lisbon. Cash only. Music.
Cape Verde meets Lisbon. An old colony. Each dish is multi layers of flavour discoveries. From spicy strawberry gazpacho. To coconut sauce tuna with layers of veggies where each sweet potato layer was covered with caramelized sugar. Brazilian dish of white fish with prawns in a great sauce. AMAZING.
Life is sometimes funny. And is unpredictable.
Yesterday our uber driver a 40 some old year old Portugese Lisbonner who used to be a care free surf instructor spending his 6 months then years in Cape Verde, with beautiful young African ladies with green eyes, was raving about his 16 months old baby boy. He was never married up untill he got his young African girlfriend pregnant.. He told us now how his son and him sleep in together in each other's arms while his mid 20's african bride goes to school in the mornings. How his son is still breast fed. The baby boy never ate so far any processed food. How he waits for his daddy to return from his uber work even if it is 1.30 am just to bicycle with him.
Tonight my hubby took me to this fabulous restaurant from Cape Verde food in Lisbon.
I had tears in my eyes eating with him in this very intimate restaurant.
At our last night in Lisbon.

Très bon restaurant ! On découvre des plats du Cap Vert, de Guinée, de Mozambique etc.. Le Patron est très sympa il n'hésite pas à vous expliquer les plats en français, les plats sont bien relevés. Les desserts sont très bon (surtout la glace). Rien à redire on recommande !

Best restaurant we tried in Portugal! The most amazing food. Also really nice waiter. Bonus: there was live music while we were there. Loved it! Only down side (the reason I couldn’t give it 6 stars out of five, since that’s what it deserves) was that it was cash only.

Realmente increíble, creo que es el mejor sitio de Lisboa. Buena comida, buen ambiente, buena música, un servicio inmegorable... En fin en este restaurante el tiempo se detiene. Se nota que cocinan con el corazón.

Lugar muy singular. Está escondido en una callecita cerca de la casa Saramago. La comida está muy rica aunque la merluza un poco escasa. Hay que tener en cuenta/advertir que es comida de inspiración de las antiguas colonias portuguesas (angola, mozambique...) Y por lo tanto no es la comida que esperarías típica en Lisboa (sin que sea algo negativo) y son combinaciones "raras", sobre todo si no eres de muy "alta" cocina.

Fiz reserva à última da hora para ir jantar com uns amigos e fomos super bem atendidos.
Pedimos como entradas pasteis de milho e como pratos principais, quatro pratos diferentes para podermos provar de tudo um pouco, dos quais recomendo bastante o bife de atum. Escusado será dizer que estava tudo maravilhoso.
Ambiente acolhedor, boa música ao vivo, excelente atendimento e excelente comida.
Irei lá voltar, 5 estrelas

My husband and I stumbled across this place last night (our first night in Lisbon). I was recovering from a bad flu and had not regained my appetite back. I didn’t plan on eating but the menu looked delicious so I ordered the Couscous. SO GOOD! Amazing flavours. I normally eat like a horse but still felt unwell. I hate leaving delicious food on my plate in case the chef feels insulted. My husband helped out after devouring his own meal but a little remained. Well the owner did notice. He crouched down at the end of the meal concerned I hadn’t liked it. I explained I loved it but was just unwell. He asked me about my symptoms then went and made me a fresh ginger and lime tea to sip on. Now that that is attentive service. This is clearly a well loved place based on the many warm greetings received by other patrons. Beautiful live music, delicious food, lovely relaxed atmosphere.

Local onde depois de começar a música caboverdiana, às 21h, já não se consegue conversar, porque a acústica é má. Os empregados são muito simpáticos, mas essa simpatia não chega para esquecer a pouca e pobre variedade das entradas, e mesmo essas são de pouca qualidade. A confecção da comida tem muita gordura e em alguns pratos a quantidade não abunda (nomeadamente a mukeka). Local agradável para ouvir a música e beber um copo, e onde se pode ir se não quiser comer bem...

Great food and atmosphere! We stopped by for some drinks on our last trip, and decided to come in for dinner a year later. Everything was delicious, and the service was great and personal. We had calamari and sausage for appetizers, and a pork/bean stew and mussels for main. Calamari had some welcome heat to them! There was a musician playing some good music the whole time. The restaurant is tucked away in a small alleyway, and it certainly is not one of many tourist traps we passed by on the main strrets

Nous sommes allé dîner dans ce restaurant ce 22 janvier. Nous avons été très bien accueilli par l'équipe de serveurs. Nous avons pris 2 katchupa pour 12 e le plat. Il était très copieux et véritablement comme au cap vert. La qualité était au rendez-vous. Très bonne expérience si voulez un peu de depaysement. Dommage qu'il soit dans une rue mal situe.nous recherchions un restaurant cap verdien et nous avons été ravi. En plus le grog nous a été offert . De quoi bien digerer le katchupa. Je vous recommande cette adresse .

Bon restaurant, très proche du centre (tereiro do paço) mais dans une ruelle peu visible.
Le personnel familial y est très accueillant et serviable.
Le catchupa est bon, copieux comme à Praia #capvert.
La musique y est bonne.
Les pastel aux mais sont très bonnes.
À faire et refaire sans hésiter quand je reviendrai.

Everything was fabulous! From the wine to the Mequena (hope I’m spelling that right) fish down to the limon ice cream infused with vodka! Very refreshing but enjoy it slowly! It will sneak up on you! The codfish stew is also amazing! Service is wonderful. They cook every thing fresh so be patient and enjoy the atmosphere and music....it’s well with the wait!

Locale piccolo (diciamo 40 coperti), caldo e accogliente. Personale di una gentilezza estrema (Alexander ha un italiano perfetto, ha vissuto a Roma). Piatti tipici della tradizione, eccellenti e abbondanti. Ieri sera, Capoverde (Cachupa). In aggiunta, dalle 20 alle 23, con musica live (chitarra e voce), eccellente sottofondo. Non saprei cosa altro scrivere per segnalare che dovete andarci per forza.

Great atmosphere, awesome food, nice music. We came here with a toddler and a baby. My older son ate all his food and my baby was wowed by the music. Cannot ask for more when you dinning with two kids! They don’t have a high chair when we were there but I think they usually would be able to borrow one from a nearby one. Def check it out. Calamari appetizer is the best I have ever had!

Amazing experience overall. The coconut sauces were perfectly done. The only thing that disappointed was the mussel soup which was extremely salty. Nothing else was too salty.
The staff was friendly and made sure we were having a good time. We even considered going here again for a second night on our short trip but we basically tried everything on their menu.

Food and wine was excellent. Waiters were attentive. Live guitar and keyboard music was entertaining and professional. Bonus theatrical performance by freuline and her husband visiting from Germany. We were a group and fully enjoyed the evening at Mesa Kreol. Took a while to find the location but worth the visit. Highly recommended!

This is a very nice and cosy place with a rather limited selection of dishes but which are so delicious. I can only strongly recommend the Catchupa which is a famous dish from Cabo Verde. This tiny restaurant has live music and you can enjoy your meal with beautiful musics from Cabo Verde (mostly during weekends but not only).

The strawberry gazpacho is awful. I would advice to take it out from the menu especially it's not African. I did not eat it and had to pay. They did not present the fungo as part of the moamb a because it's expensive to buy. Although they made it after I ask. No live music as advertised. Don't accept cards. The food is tasty but did not felt they were very professionally prepared I felt a bit disappointed.

Muy buena atención y trato muy agradable por parte del personal, nos sentimos muy acogidos. La comida parece ser casera y con un sabor conseguido. Lamentablemente la muqueca que pedimos tenía un pescado muy mediocre (el típico medallón redondo de pescado congelado) de poco sabor y textura nada fresca, y el pollo con salsa gustosa pero los trozos eran su carcasa y costillas, sin apenas contenido en carne o tajada sustanciosa. Quizás fue mala suerte porque, insisto, el sitio es acogedor y la comida podría haber sido mucho mejor.

Das Restaurant haben wir eher zufällig entdeckt. Aber es hat sich gelohnt. Wir waren drei Tage in Lissabon und zweimal dort zum Abendessen. Das sagt sehr viel aus.
Sehr leckeres Essen, gemütliche Atmosphäre und sehr freundliches sowie aufmerksames Personal. Eine klare Empfehlung.

Atmosfera molto bella, fuori dai soliti stereotipi turistici.

Great place. Great food. Nice live music. Nice waiters. Really authentic. I recommend codfish shrims with coconut milk sauce and spicy. Plates are BIG, don't order to much. Price is perfect for amount of food.
Sitio genial, comida muy rica típica brasileña y portuguesa. Más real que el resto de los sitios típicos de turistas. Música en directo muy buena y camareros muy atentos. Pedimos un plato con bacalao gambones verduras y salsa de especias con leche de coco (riquísimo). Platos abundantes y precio bien.

Loved this place! Super quaint and the people were lovely. Very patient with our 3 year old (who also broke a bottle of water :( but they didn’t seem overly fussed). The food was amazing. We got three chicken dishes and they were all delicious!!! There was a guy playing the keyboard who was also amazing who even struck up happy birthday for someone! I’m glad we read the review that noted we had to pay in cash though (we haven’t been in Lisbon long to know if that’s super typical). We had a great night!!

Quel dommage de n'avoir connu ce restaurant que lors de notre dernière soirée à Lisbonne.... L'accueil de Joao et de sa charmante épouse, le service et l'excellence des plats nous a comblé. Avec de la musique "ao vivo" nous avons passé une super soirée et nous recommandons vivement a cachoupa de Joao mesa kreol !

Great place to try food from old Portuguese colonies. We had grilled tuna with a coconut sauce at the style of Cabo Verde, and chicken with a peanut sauce from Guinea-Bissau. Both were delicious! The service was good too.

It was my fist time for Kreol cuisine so I completely did not know what to expect. It was incredible adventure! Everything tasted very honest and earthly - just like nature intended, which gave me an idea of how Africans approach cooking and what ingredients are traditionally used since access to certain vegetables and spices only. The whole adventure provided a really authentic experience with a great guidance from the helpful staff:) I recommend trying it for yourself! Lovely, quite place with cosy atmosphere- great for gamily gathering as well as a date.

I've only been to restaurants in Lisbon based on their reviews. This one is by far the best of all. Delicious food, very friendly staff and beautiful live music ( at dinner time )

This was one of my favourites. Unpretentious, friendly, unexpensive, and the spicy strawberry gaspacho followed by a tuna steak in white wine sauce with vegetables were both the best meal I’ve had in Lisbon so far. Add the live music and I felt my heart take a deep breath. Went on a Thursday around 8pm.

Fantastic and delicious traditional cusine from the cape Verde. Extremely welcoming and very friendly host. I love the decor and the beautiful art.they also play live music too. This place is a GEM!!!! My concerns is that numerous african restaurants are alway hidden in back streets yet the ones that are paraded out in the open never comes as close to the hidden gems in that small back streets and the price is not a trip times 2 to lagos from lisboa and back?

Very good kitchen of a rarely found kind. The evening was tasty and relaxing, the service very great and attentive, without being to intrusive. A handful of very nice dishes in a location that carries the origin of its employees. Just a little tasty jump into colonial history. At 8:30 on a friday started some traditional capo verdian morna music delivering a very coherent feeling. The prices were very fair. We had a blast in that enjoyable evening! Thank you "Mesa Kreol" !

We had a wonderful evening at the Mesa Kreol. The meals were delicous, the Service lovely and mindful and the live music the perfect addition. For less then 60€ we had an appetizer, two main dishes (chicken in peanut Sauce and Rice and a big plate full of mussels), two desserts, a bottle of wine, water and two bica. Thank you!

Right up my alley! Tasty, spicy (if you want) and sweet. There was also a band playing when I was there. Great location, very atmospheric! Definitely going back...

Great place to have a dinner. It was totally random choice, but I can only recommended! Great seafood, service and athmosphere. Once we will visit Lisboa again, we will for sure stop there!

Phenomenal customer service. Staff was unbelievably warm and welcoming - hugs upon arrival - I honestly felt like family. Food is very reasonably priced and of exceptional quality - calamari appetizer was on point. Music is also fantastic here - live guitar, relaxed sound - this place has an excellent vibe. 10/10.

I had an amazing eating experience here while travelling my myself. The owner and his staff were so friendly and great conversationalists. I ended up spending most evenings here drinking local wine and eating things I’d never tried before

This is a great neighborhood joint. Started with tuna fritters(like empanadas) and then had the shrimp and fish in a coconut sauce and the tuna steak with white wine pan sauce. The manager was lovely to chat with and she actually came over and asked us to change one of the dishes we ordered. Originally we had ordered a pork and bean stew, but she said the taste wasn’t right so she had the cook throw it out and needed us to choose something different. She explained that it would be made in the morning and served, but that leftovers would be used the second day and “fried” (which I took to mean reheated in an oven based on her hand gestures). You can judge the use of leftovers as you wish, but I fully appreciate that someone actually tasted the food in the kitchen as it was being prepared and put it in the trash when it wasn’t right rather than serve it to an unwitting customer. One appetizer, two main dishes, and a bottle of white wine cost about 50/55 Euro including the gratuity left.

Para ser honesto sólo encontré dos aspectos positivos: ambiente acogedor y buena música en vivo. Poca calidad y poca variedad en la comida. Sirvieron un guiso de alubias frío y pollo con salsa de cacahuetes con sabor a quemado. Este último lo devolvimos entero, pero nos lo cobraron. Para rematar, no se podía pagar con tarjeta.
Quizás tuvimos mala suerte.

Food was just delicious! Cooked perfectly and spiced in surprising way (that's what we were actually looking for after few days in Portugal). Their ice cream dessert is the best in the world. Service is super nice and friendly, always there to help and advice. One problem from my perspective is no cards are accepted. Otherwise superb!

Restaurante de comida africana com serviço atencioso e música ao vivo. Experimentamos a muqueca de camarão, mexilhões com camarão de Moçambique e peito de peru com molho de manga que estavam óptimos, principalmente o primeiro que recomendo. O preço médio por pessoa cerca de 25 euros com vinho.

Yum, yum, yum, and yum. This place was amazing. The food was incredible and so many different choices and flavors. Our server (who I think was also part owner) was super friendly and informative and helped us choose delicious (and cheap!) wine from Portugal to go with our meal. We were so happy with this choice.

No conocíamos Lisboa y, tras perdernos por pequeños callejones y fuera de las calles de los turistas, encontramos este pequeño rincón donde fuimos atendidos por Maria. Encantadora, dejaros aconsejar por la comida.. el vino... los pequeños caprichos de después de comer... Es un oasis entre la vorágine turista. Bienvenida a mi lista de favoritos...

A magnificent, intimate, welcoming restaurant in the heart of Lisbon. Laid back and with a great atmosphere, I would gladly recommend this little gem to anyone who loves a warm personal dining experience. (Oh, and the food ain´t bad either ;-) ).

Maria was a wonderful hostess! She helped us pair the right wine with our food, and gave us a very detailed description of where our meals originated from. She was personable and really cared that we enjoyed our meal and had a nice time. The food was DELICIOUS! The shrimp coconut curry was to die for! I highly recommend eating here :)

Dining at this restaurant is an experience - and was my favorite experience in Lisbon. The owner served me, which always immediately makes a meal special, and he was so committed to making sure I ordered the absolute best for each course. You can tell that every dish is prepared so thoughtfully and everything is SO GOOD and unique. There is a featured Portuguese dish each day and you can pair that with a Brazilian appetizer and out of this world dessert. Many of the recipes are the owners creations!
If you order wine with your meal, let the owner choose and it will be paired perfectly with your meal.
The live music is the cherry on top of it all!
If you are traveling to Lisbon and especially if you are looking for a hidden gem of a locals spot, have dinner here on your very first night as you will very likely want to return again.

The mains are good - you won't regret ordering them - but what makes this quaint little place stand out are the appetizers. The strawberry gazpacho made me want to start writing poetry (right there in the middle of dinner) and the calamari sauteed spinach was so good that our toddler kept asking for more until it was all gone.

The music, the people and the food. Amazing atmosphere and very Nice people with tasty kreol dishes, to some it might be a little to the spicy side but not Even close to indian spicy :) next time i visit Lisbon i will eat here again. Mvh from DK.
