My wife and I were just 'wasting' some time in Lisbon before our flight and had heard great things about this place. We were not disappointed. Very relaxed atmosphere for a few drink. We ended up sharing a fantastic meat & cheese board as well. When we expressed a wine preference they actually brought us a few to try for free first before settling on our preference. Although we went at an off peak time (5pm) I would absolutely recommend stopping off here

Espaço muito agradável, na realidade é uma mercearia que serve tapas tipicamente transmontanas com algumas reinterpretações e conjugações que resultam bastante agradáveis. Os preços são bastante altos especialmente para a zona onde está, sendo por isso frequentado essencialmente por estrangeiros (éramos a única mesa de portugueses ao almoço). Serviço um pouco demorado (mais vocacionado para os turistas, sendo esse o target da casa) mas muito simpático. Ementa simples de compreender. As doses apesar de pequenas são boas para partilhar. Tem a vantagem de aceitar Zomato Gold o que ajuda a equilibrar preços.

Incredible experience, amazing food, and insanely personal service. PLEASE please please go here if you are in Lisbon. I’ve been meaning to write this review for a year, and finally got around to it. This was truly an outstanding dining experience. We let the owner choose a custom menu for us based on his personal favorites, and we couldn’t have been more thrilled.
I went with my fiancé and her sister on our final night in Lisbon. There was one other table seated when we arrived, and after they left, the owner kept the restaurant open late for only us. He came to our table before, during, and after every single course. He is a wine-maker and also produces small batch balsamic. A truly warm and open soul who wants nothing more than for people to taste his food and his wine, both of which are absolutely remarkable. His presence is what made the experience so special to us.
His passion was contagious, and I can’t thank him enough for being such a wonderful host to us.

Looked at several other restaurants in the area, and opted for here. Very glad we did. Very nice welcome, and thankfully for us the chap serving is spoke English (and then French and Spanish) Food was just gorgeous, and enjoyed with a lovely bottle of wine. Highly recommend the pear in red wine as dessert.

Hemos viajado con nuestro perro y al preguntar si podíamos cenar en una mesa que tienen fuera, nos han dicho que podíamos entrar con nuestra mascota, lo cual se agradece, marca petfriendly. La comida genial, es de picoteo y tapas, es algo diferente y en nuestro caso nos encantó, pedimos unas tostadas, unos quesos y un plato de habas ( nos sorprendio, nunca las habíamos comido asi). El personal muy amable!

Posto assolutamente da visitare per gli amanti di salumi e formaggi fatti in casa. Non mancano i vini, olio di oliva e aceto fatti dal titolare, con possibilità di acquisto prodotti già confezionati sottovuoto. Che aggiungere, un artista. Inglese senza problemi.

We loved this place! No wine list, just a wall of wine to pick from, which was awesome. We tried at least 7 dishes and all were wonderful. Couscous, bread sausage, toast with pistachios. Our son said it was the best food he has ever had. Such delicious flavors! Owner makes his own olive oil, blueberry vinegar and blueberry mustard, which we had to buy because it rocked! Service was excellent. Laidback, local and attentive.

Une adresse immanquable durant un séjour à Lisbonne.
Vous pouvez déguster différents produits locaux et écouter l'histoire du créateur. Fromage, vin, charcuterie, huile d'olive... Les plats sont délicieux et l'accueil est vraiment parfait.
Nous avons acheté de l'huile, du vin et du fromage pour revenir avec un petit goût portugais chez nous !

Extremely friendly and polite staff which was eager to introduce us to the cuisine and local specialities of the region of Tras-os-Montes, most of it from own production (wine, ham, cheese, etc.). Meals were tapas sized and on the meat, sausage and vegetable side. No fish, as Tras-os-Montes is far away from the coast. Final Plus: the dessert!

Ristorante che offre la cucina di Tras os montes che non è molto ricca ma è genuina, con sapori forti e si lascia apprezzare. Un avvertimento per chi è abituato alla tipica "refezione" portoghese, le porzioni non sono abbondanti perché di solito la quantità sopperisce alla qualità. Qui di qualità c'è ne è molta. Piatti preparati con cura e ingredienti scelti e del territorio, come si usa dire adesso. Infine, se siete rimasti colpiti da qualche piatto in particolare, come è capitato a me, ne potete comprare gli ingredienti nello stesso locale. Lasciatevi guidare dall'oste, simpatico e sempre pronto a illustrarvi quello che state mangiano ma con discrezione e moderazione, senza strafare nel più puro stile portoghese.

Food and wine are great and the staff are very helful and kind, they will helo you select your food and let you taste the wine. I liked the fact they also have books about Trás os Montes region, language and culture. I highly recommend this place to eat and drink in Lisbon and try a different and ancient Portuguese culture.

Fantastic! An amazing menu with so much on offer, and a great wine display to pick from. The breaded sausage with ginger was perfect, and the tomato salad!! Oh my God wow.
Staff were so friendly, too.
Highly recommend giving this place a go, and ordering a few dishes to share with some fantastic wine!!

Locale in stile minimal con predominanza di semplici strutture di legno compresi tavoli, sedie e sgabelli. Infatti, ad ogni tavolo da quattro, ci sono due sedie e due sgabelli. Il cibo è buono, tuttavia le porzioni sono scarsine. Prezzi regolari se le porzioni verranno incrementate altrimenti da rivedere al ribasso. Personale cordiale e non invadente.

Un lieu exceptionnel pour qui veut découvrir une gastronomie basée sur des produits authentiques et cuisinés avec beaucoup de finesse ! Je conseille vivement de goûter un peu de tout. Personnellement j'ai adoré les haricots avec jaune d'oeuf poché et jambon et également la saucisse fumée traditionnelle. La bière "buri" est vraiment excellente. En dessert la poire "bourrée" est une tuerie ! Pour finir l'accueil est très sympathique. Je recommande absolument.

Excellent service. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They make you feel at home. We didn't actually eat, but the smell was amazing. We just had a bottle of wine, recommended by one of the owners. It was a treat. I will definitely pay them another visit (or two or three).

Had an amazing dinner at Banca de Pau. Food was high quality - highly recommend the toast with tomato foam (3 euro) and bread sausage (5 euro). Loved selecting our wine from their wine rack as opposed to from a wine list. This worked out great with the owner's recommendations, which were all excellent. Learned so much about port wines. Definitely recommend!

High quality north Portuguese specialties in a classy setting. The menu is well described in Portuguese, English and French. Service was friendly and helpful. Order enough different plates to fill your tummies. This is not a seafood restaurant.

Fui almoçar com a minha irmã e não podia ter ficado mais satisfeita com a escolha. O serviço foi fantástico e atencioso. O espaço é muito giro ao estilo de uma mercearia, com produtos expostos (enchidos, queijos, vinhos, compotas, etc) tanto para consumo como para comercializar. A comida é bem confeccionada e os produtos de 1a. Imperdível!

Kleiner, gemütlicher Laden mit super Atmosphäre und exzellentem Service.
Serviert werden nordost-portugiesische Spezialitäten und Weine. Es herrscht freundschaftliche Atmosphäre. Die Karte ist sehr angenehm überschaubar und vieles auf der Karte kann man auch am Tresen für zuhause kaufen.
Jedes Gericht war eine Köstlichkeit, keine Klischee Touristen-Tapas, sondern pure Authentizität. (Wurst mit Feige ist sehr zu empfehlen)
Die Weinberatung ist spitze und die Auswahl klasse.

Super Laden, es gibt kleine Tapas ähnliche Gerichte und leckeren Wein. Die Mitarbeiter erklären genau, was man vor sich auf dem Teller hat und man kann viele der Produkte direkt im Laden kaufen. Nur zu empfehlen!

My husband and I and our two children are in Lisbon on vacation. We had just found out that our hotel room that we booked online were falling apart when we walked into Banca de Pau restaurant for a refreshment and to figure out what to do next. The staff at the restaurant was so hospitable. We ordered some wine, water, bread and olive oil. The bread and wine were absolutely delicious and the olive oil was served with a side of blueberry vinigrette that was amazing. We also ate a cheesecake dessert made with Greek yogurt, honey and fig jam that was the perfect end to our snack. The women who worked there helped us to find new accommodations. As tourists we were so blessed to walk into this restaurant today. Please stop in and try their food and wine. You won't be disappointed.

Die Wurst-Tapas sind zwar eine etwas eigenwillige Sache, aber man sollte diese definitiv mal probieren.

Cuisine atypique de Tràs-os-Montes situé au Nors Est du Portugal, un lieu convivial où le patron multilingue défend avec ferveur et fierté sa région natale. Simples et authentiques, les plats n'en demeurent pas moins originaux et savoureux. Une jolie découverte dans le quartier du Rato.

A Banca de Pau é uma mercearia / restaurante de produtos transmontanos. Aqui há de tudo o que essa maravilhosa região tem para oferecer. Desde queijo, enchidos, azeite, doces, compotas, livros com receitas, e claro...os Vinhos!
A decoração é minimalista mas tem bastantes adereços relativos à zona onde destaco as máscaras e os fatos dos Caretos.
A ementa é à base de petiscos mas em alguns dias há pratos tipicos. Fui em dia de Casulas com butelo um prato estranho mas que me despertou curiosidade. Para alem das Casulas comi também Alheira e Cuscos com cogumelos selvagens
O Butelo é um género de salpicão em tamanho grande, mas com ossos e tudo no interior. As casulas é feijão vermelho secos ao sol servidas com o favo. Nunca tendo comido o prato, achei os feijoes um pouco "crus" e com muitos fios. O Butelo é interessante, mas a carne é quase só ossos mas o enchido é bom.
Os cuscos achei um pouco estranha a textura mas interessante de sabor.
Nem um nem outro são muito o meu género, por isso é complicado avaliar.
Para sobremesa comi Pera Bêbada e marmelada com queijo. Estava tudo bom, óptimo para acompanhar com o Vinho excelente da região.
Recomendo a banca de pau como um excelente locar para comprar produtos desta região lindíssima e deliciosa. Comprei lá um vinagre de mirtilos caseiro que é fenomenal. Sem dúvida um local a visitar.

Delightful service, great food, and reasonable prices.
The owner, Joao, was great, spent loads of time talking to us about the food and the wine, where it came from and what went best with what.
In particular the starters with blueberry vinegar were incredible, and the sour sausage was fantastic.

Ou não fosse este lugar de dois bons amigos. A Banca de Pau prima por produtos de primeira categoria. Representa e apresenta em Lisboa o melhor que o Norte nos tem para dar. Quem quer que tenha uma costela nortenha não pode deixar de conhecer este espaço. Quem não tem costela do norte, arranje.

Grocery shop and restaurant. The dishes are well priced and are made with produce from a certain region in the North. Cornmeal was super yummy!

Fantástica experiência gastronómica na cidade de Lisboa.
Um menu repleto de iguarias transmontanas que são de comer e chorar por mais.
O serviço é fora de série, de uma atenção e simpatia difíceis de encontrar hoje em dia no setor da restauração.
O custo da refeição é muito acessível para o nível de qualidade do que é servido.
Definitivamente a voltar!

Unique and delicious food made with quality ingredients and served with passion. The staff was very welcoming and everyone seemed personally invested in making sure our dining experience was enjoyable.
We started with bread, 4 different types trucked in from Tras-os-montes and served with olive oil and vinegar. It was fresh and wonderful, and we ended up buying 2 loaves to take home (as well as the vinegar).
Also in the "starters" section, we tried the tomato & pistachio toasts. Simple and delicious. Wine by the glass includes a free sampling of a few wines, all from the north of Portugal.
Our favorite dish in the main meal was the alheira sausage cooked with ginger and tomato, topped with almonds.
The sheep cheese with garlic and herbs is wonderful also.

This outstanding restaurant or how the official name is Mercearia e Petiscos de tras-os-Montes is secret gem in Lisbon. It's definitely worthy to dine at this place. Excellent service. You feel like you are at home. We tried and tasted multiple items from the menu and all of them were delicious, unique or one of the kind. You can't go wrong.. Highly recommended. Will come back.

Really good atmosphere and food. We had a lot of different tapas and they were incredible. The staff was really helpful and friendly. I really recommend it!
