This was without doubt the best Indian meal I've had. Sitting here writing this my mouth is still tingling with spices and flavours of the food.
I would highly recommend Gurkha's Kitchen to everyone.

Opened about a year now tucked up a steeply inclined (like the Himalayas!) side street, the restaurant is trying hard to compete in a location where there are many offerings.
The waiters were brilliant, welcoming with a nice smile and not begging us to come in (which is so off putting, isn't it?) The strength of this restaurant is the menu and the quality of the food. It is refreshing to see dishes with different names, the use of spices and flavours (tamarind for example) in dishes that have been nurtured in the Nepal region through generations and delivered with that famous Gurkha passion & care.
I didn't like the bill so much: I felt it was higher than I guessed it at (does anyone else play that game? Of course, the prices are on the menu so you can budget it and cut down if you need to)
Overall, would recommend and I hope it survives in a challenging, competitive location.
Tip alert: Easy 5 minute walk to the boardwalk after your meal to catch the beautiful sunset if you're early enough!

Popped in on the off chance this lunchtime. Have cooked a lot of Nepalese food but this is fabulous. Amazing food, beautifully spirited people there who truly love what they do. A joy and an honour xz

We were lucky enough to get a table as we hadn't booked in advance but the friendly staff pulled 2 x tables together even though the place was packed out. Starter was ok (wrong choice I think) but the main course blew us away, really very good indeed. Lively food, lovely staff, lovely place... really lovely!

One of *the* best places for Indian and Nepalese foods that I have ever eaten in my life and I am born and raised in India. It's a must visit and the chicken starter on the lentil pancake is as heavenly as it could possibly be.

Wirklich sehr leckeres Essen und authentische Küche.
Wir hatten seit langer Zeit kein so gutes indisch nepalisches Essen, wie in der Gurkha Kitchen. Die Mitarbeiter waren zugewand, ehrlich nett und kinderfreundlich. Es ist einen Besuch wert!

Superb food and service. Brilliant to have the additional Nepalese food choices in addition to standard Indian restaurant classics. The Nepalese dish i think called cham cham chicken was one of the best i have eaten!

Sehr schönes und gepflegtes Restaurant. Sehr gute und interessante Speisen. Nettes und sehr freundliches Personal. Gerade im Urlaub sollte man mal etwas Neues ausprobieren. Es lohnt sich auf jeden Fall! Wir waren zum ersten Mal dort und sind begeistert. Wir kommen wieder und werden neue Speisen probieren und genießen.

Magician at work
We went for diner twice here. Once to taste the Nepalese dishes and once more for the traditional Indian cuisine. The restaurant is ran by a small Nepalese family with the brothers serving and father in the kitchen. That man is a master chef; a true magician. The Indian dishes were amazing and the Nepalese dishes were a work of art. I can recommend the Daa Kula Curry with all my heart. It is a master piece. A well deserved 5 stars.

Elegant but comfortable atmosphere and music. Attentive staff. Had Himalayan Cham Cham after asking what was most popular from the chef’s specialities. Was hot (in temperature) and tasty. They label this and other dishes spicy with two chilies but if you prefer spicy food, you will find it mild.

Had to give five stars as there is no facility to give six. The Gurkha Kitchen is a real find. My wife and I are frequent visitors to Carveoiro from the UK, A visit to Nepal is on bucket list so I was curious to sample Nepalese cuisine. We were not disappointed the food, service, cleanliness and value for money was excellent. Do yourself a favour and visit the Gurkha Kitchen.

Expérience vraiment super, le lieu est sympa, et la terrasse bienvenue. Le dîner était excellent, en entrée nous avons pris le samoussa végétarien et l'oignon bahji puis ensuite le daa kula curry et un plat végétarien (dont j'ai oublié le nom..). Je vais rajouter aussi notre plus grosse suprise ; des cheeses naans fait maison tout simplement magnifique. ( en effet ça change du kiri dans 99% des naans fromages français). Je n'ai vraiment jamais mangé des cheeses naans aussi frais et savoureux.
Dernier point non négligeable, le service était adorable, nous avons eu consécutivement trois serveurs et tous étaient d'une incroyable gentillesse et de très bon conseil. Je fini par ce point car j'ai rarement croisé des personnes sincèrement aussi gentilles dans un restaurant.

Best Indian food I have ever had! I love spicy, but this was more than just spice. So many bold flavors and the food came out in a timely manner. I suggest trying the chicken chili masala.

Fabulous! my husband and I had a delicious meal, unfortunately leaving tomorrow, but not before going back for lunch! Lovely people, fantastic food, shame we've only just discovered it.
That was a year ago, since then they have moved, but still the same owners. The food is just as delicious, the welcome is still friendly, it's still one of the best restaurants (for us) in Spain and Portugal.

We had a lovely meal here whilst away on a family holiday. Have to say the food is amazing and reasonably priced. The staff were so warming and extremely helpful. The nicest place we went for for food in the week we spent in carveiro. When we were ready to leave the staff called us a taxi, not long after the heavens opened, we waited for a long while for the taxi and my little boy was getting restless so one of the staff gave us a lift back to our appartments instead of waiting longer for the taxi and was very reluctant to take any money. If I ever go back to this area of Portugal I will be sure to visit again.

I was going to give 4 stars because the wait for our drinks and food was considerable but they apologized throughout the night due to having everyone turn up at the same time and completely full. only open 2 months maybe a few more staff needed by next summer.

Lo malo: 1h y media esperando la comida y muy mala comunicación con el camarero. Casi nos vamos sin comer. Pedimos marryland Chicken y a la hora nos llego pescado frito en su lugar....
Lo bueno: la comida está muy buena. Merece la espera y la paciencia si dispones de tiempo. La atención aunque poco efectiva, es amable.

Really delicious and authentic food. Good amount of choice both for meat eaters and vegetarians. I had the Shahi Paneer and it was truly delicious. Service was very attentive. Would love to come again!

Luckily we couldn't find parking for the other restuarants that showed up first on Google maps, and by chance we came to Gurkha. 2 families, 10 people totally-utterly satisfied. The staff is amazing, and that is an understatement. They made us feel at home. Granted I'm havent eaten a great deal of Indian & Nepalese food, but it was fantastic, and I can't wait to return and sample other dishes. Also I'm now a fan of cobra beer. I highly recommend.

Poised up above the main drag, what would a Nepalese experience be without some climbing? this is a gem, great food, best tamarind chutney I've ever had, the mains were substantial and excellently executed. Would strongly recommend.

This place is very good. Situated away from the main Street you need to deliberately visit and it is well worth the effort. Staff are lovely and falling over themselves to make you welcome. The food was obviously freshly made and the Paneer delicious. Would highly recommend. No problems with sharing meals as we had had a large lunch only 5 hours before. My only mild criticism is the number of times we were asked if we were enjoying the food. Everyone but the chef came to ask us. The portion sizes were super apart from the free port wine at the end which was a tad tiny but welcome. Will certainly return.

Very nice restaurant with lots of indian and nepalese dishes. Suited also for vegetarians. The waiters were super friendly and recommended or adapted everything according to our needs. Really enjoyed a nice evening, very recommendable!

Had an absolutely delicious meal here during our trip to visit family. We booked a table and made the staff aware that two of our party were vegan.
When we arrived the following evening, every member of staff was attentive and made sure the vegan options (of which there were plenty) were explained and ensured everyone was catered for.
Whether you are looking for a great chicken curry or a vegetarian/plant-based option, the choice is varied, the food great and the service excellent.
Will definitely be back on our next trip.

Wir hatten hier einen perfekten Abend und sind absolut begeistert! Bei soviel Auswahl wurde uns alles in Ruhe erklärt, die Atmosphäre im Lokal ist sehr herzlich und man fühlt sich wie in die indische Kultur eingeladen. Robin hat uns definitiv von den typischen Deserts überzeugt und wir werden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen. Wir können Gurkha Kitchen nur weiterempfehlen!

Heerlijk eten met alle smakelijke specerijen, vriendelijke bediening, heel attent. Mooi klantgericht. Wat mij betreft alleen jammer van de zeer eentonige mantra muziek, 2 uren hetzelfde liedje. Had an absolutely delicious dinner here tonight. Everything from our pappadum (which came with 5 different sauces)and starter to our tandoori mains was so so flavorful and served piping hot. The spices are wonderful and the portions are generous. The staff is gracious and helpful. Very kind. We highly recommend if you love Nepalese or Indian food.

Mrs n me have eaten here twice in a previous visit to Carvoeiro. Ate here last night and have to say it was one of the best meals we've had during our holiday..Service was a little slow, because they were busy with a couple of large parties inside. The Waiters were very friendly and otherwise attentive..I'd definitely recommend the Gurkha Curry, having just the right amount of heat and it was so tasty.
Can't wait to come back..

'Wow' pretty much sums up this experience. The food is absolutely out of this world. If you're coming to the Algarve, no matter where you are, you have to visit. Dont let 1st impressions get in the way of what this restaurant actually delivers. It doesn't look like much, but the incredibly relaxed atmosphere, friendly polite staff and amazing flavours quickly show what Ghurka kitchen is really all about.

Excellent food and service! We had tried already a couple of different Indian restaurants in the area and I always ordered Butter Chicken. I can say I had the absolute best Butter Chicken in this restaurant. It wasn’t too sweet like in the other places and the chicken was so tender and delicious!
It’s a bummer we found out about this place so late on our trip, we didn’t have a chance to visit it again. If I ever go to Carvoeiro again, this is the place I’ll come to eat!

Wasn’t impressed actually. The service was poor we waited nearly 50 mins for starters. Then they magically arrived as soon as we complained with the meal immediately after. The meat was dry and I suspect cheap pre cooked product. Won’t be back

Tonight we had diner at this place. We found it via TripAdvisor and Google, because the reviews were good. We weren't disappointed. On the contrary, it was great!
Great service: A small team with knowledge and recommendations of the (spicy) food. The food was great, fresh and the meat was very tender. Many options for vegetarian and gluten-free diets. The team is available at any moment when you need it. Toilets are very clean.
We would recommend everybody to visit this great but small restaurant. Call to make a reservation, later in the evening, the whole terrace was filled.
If we're around again, we will definitely visit Gurkha again!

I come from an English town with a thriving Nepalese community and I can say this was the best curry I've ever eaten. We had the Nepalese fish curry. The staff were so attentive and welcoming, best curry outside of Nepal!

Really enjoyed this spicy delicious indian food. Nice service, great people. Just popped in for a curry, recommended by local friend. The restaurant is newly opened, two months ago. Staff are friendly, restaurant is very clean and pleasant surroundings. FOOD: really good, lovely flavours and clearly all home made. One of our party has a serious fish allergy, no fuss made when explaining and staff ensured no cross contamination occured. Well worth a visit and take always are also available.

I thought this place is closed but it is open. The taste here has no words. The hospitality cannot be describe by words. I love it and during my stay in armacao de pêra for 15 days, I went there around 10 times.
