Located just in the edge of a national park 2 hours of Lissabon and Porto you'll find an atmospheric and also stylish hotel that has set itself up be an "emotional hotel" that combines cooking and nature. This means: Each of the 12 rooms is designed to fit a different emotion (adventure, nostalgy, romance, melancholy,...). Any furniture in the main rooms is somehow related to nature or emotion. You can grab and mix your own drinks from an open bar, as well as you're free to use one of the three living rooms which are open for everyone, offering board games, books, magazines, a fire space, a television. The hotel also offers a small spa space featuring 3 small (~8m^2 each) bath tubs inside and a bigger pool outside. For the "cooking" part, there's an open kitchen and several dinning tables in- and outside the hotel offering room for 2-6 people each. There's different menus to choose from, also a lunch menu. If you so choose, you can cook your own menu (cooking course) in the evening. Additionally you can book tours (bike, horse, hiking), guided and unguided. There's also massages to choose from and yoga courses. Make sure to sort out this (above)  stuff before you arrive, every bookable course, tour and massage must be booked 1 day before you want to do it. The dinner you have to choose up until 12am the same day. So if you arrive late (like us) do it via telephone or mail. You can choose from the lunch menu of you forgot. The food is well done, the best we had so far in Portugal (though we are not into fish, it looked well too and other people around seemed to enjoy it). You pick the time you want to eat, it's a great option if you decide to leave the hotel for the day. In the middle of the day you may choose lunch, sadly no sweets other than some cookies and croissants are offered. The announced places to have dinner at in the neighbourhood are often closed down. The villages nearby seem to die out sadly. I guess rural depopulation is happening in Portugal as well - you will have to travel further or eat at the hotel for sure. The next supermarket is located in Minden, that's about 20 minutes by car. Since there are so little rooms you will get a  calm experience no matter the time of day. The most people I've seen was during breakfast. Very comforting hotel hosts, brilliant food (if you are in for fish, mussels, meat). The overall nature theme surrounds you all the day. !The place is definitly KID FRIENDLY! Sadly a 4* hotel unique like this one comes at a price. You of course pay alot and you are with mostly rich-er acting people. We had an Instagram influencer staying at the hotel the same time - it's creepy having people come to a place to calm down but taking professional photos all the time. I was also a tad annoyed by a cooking class who didn't stay at the hotel. Being surprised by 12 people talking alot while sitting at the pool only dressed in a swimming pant wasn't relaxing. Overall experience is great. Interior design was huge, only for the rooms itself it felt a bit "okay", I missed some details (cold white light in a romance room, the balcony railing was broken, 26" TV - I don't mind, but some might do). In our room the air conditioning was sadly not working, the place which offers mostly big windows in every single room overheated easily. I can recommend this place for a calm visit as a couple or with your family (younger kids)  and/or if you only plan day trips to Lisbon or Porto (1,5 hours each) but don't want to stay in the overpriced hotels. In the cities. The price is high in this one, but you get offered alot! This hotel is unique. We will come for another stay for sure.

Um hotel com uma proposta única, onde o hóspede prepara a sua própria alimentação. Claro q tem uma equipe que já traz tudo preparado para que o hóspede não lave os peixes e nem descasque as batatas! O lugar é chique e despojado. Vale a visita sempre!

Ein Paradieshotel, mitten in dem schönen Naturpark Conde dos Aires. Das ganze Hotel ist mit liebevollen Details, und alles sehr geschmackvoll, ausgestattet. Die Zimmer tragen alle einen Titel von einem berühmten Film, sie sind nicht sehe gross, trotzdem fehlt es an nichts.

Very nice hotel. The staff is super friendly and speaks many languages to make you feel as comfortable as possible. We had a cooking lesson which was a lot of fun too. Your clothes smell afterwards (of fried food) but the experience is worth it. The staff is always ready to give you good sightseeing ideas and even offers you bikes if you feel like biking.

Heel ontspannend hotel, mooi gedecoreerd. Elke kamer heeft een bepaald thema. De mensen kunnnen een beetje Engels. Let er wel op dat ze elke activiteit die je boekt, zoals koken, dubbel checken zodat er geen dubbelboekingen of misverstanden zijn. Er is ook een buitenzwembad aanwezig en zalige massages!

Um espaço espetacular para relaxar e namorar. Espaços lindos que dá vontade de tirar fotos em todos os cantos e recantos. A comida é muito boa e recomendamos o jantar em que cozinhamos com o/a chef do hotel.

Beautiful hotel in a tranquil setting. Food was absolutely delicious! Hotel is clean, well taken care of, and staff is very helpful. They provide an amazing amount of information on hike routes, bike routes, and nearby excursions that are accessible right from the Hotel. We hope to come back one day.

Not a pleasant experience, the rooms are so dark and rather depressing, it's more about form over function. Not much variety in terms of food and nowhere to get an alternative. Glad to leave.

Calhou-me o quarto 'moulin rouge', não achei particularmente bonito e funcional. É tudo muito agradavel, mas o atendimento deixa muito a desejar. As 21.30 de um sabado pergunto se há algo para petiscar, e antes de saberem que tipo de petisco me refiro, dizem-me que não. Não haveria um simples queijo? uma torrada? A meio da minha estadia chega um casal amigo para passar a noite, e porque a pessoa da recepção estava muito ocupada, pediu-me para fazer a apresentação do hotel....enfim

Sem dúvida nenhuma o melhor hotel da região centro para quem gosta de locais tranquilos e descontraídos. Quando chegamos ao local somos invadidos por uma paz de espírito que nos faz querer ficar para sempre. Os quartos são lindos e todos diferentes. O pessoal é muito simpático, profissional e descontraído. A piscina exterior é espetacular e os banhos quentes de outro mundo. Vale mesmo a pena a visita.

Gostei bastante deste pequeno hotel situado no sopé de uma montanha. Está muito bem enquadrado na paisagem, com a arquitetura feita para se adequar ao meio ambiente. O hotel é confortável e bem decorado. Os quartos nao são muito grandes mas são acolhedores. O pequeno almoço é bom e é servido numa sala muito agradável. Têm tb um circuito de tanques com 3 temperaturas que serve para relaxar no final de uma tarde com ainda o benefício de que é preciso marcar e que apenas aceitam um grupo por slot. Hotel muito agradável a que irei de certeza voltar.

Uma experiência muito relaxante!!

Uma estadia que se previa ser de sonho transformada num pesadelo! (será mesmo Emotional Hotel???) Quando reservei (9 meses antes) solicitei expressamente e especificamente determinado quarto! Qual não a surpresa que quando chego me atribuem um quarto, que eu não tinha escolhido e com o qual não me identificava minimamente (os quartos são temáticos e todos diferentes). Quando confrontadas com o sucedido, as pessoas que nos receberam apresentaram uma série de argumentos contraditórios e não convincentes: 1)"Os hóspedes não escolhem os quartos....somos nós que atribuímos..." 2)"A pessoa que efectuou a sua reserva já não trabalha cá..." 3)"O quarto que solicitou está ocupado... é que todos os hóspedes o solicitam...." (mas afinal os hospedes não podem escolher????) 4)"Podemos disponibilizar 2 outros quartos.... uma vez que os hóspedes ainda não chegaram podem ocupar....uma vez que só ficam uma noite...!!!!" Acabámos por escolher um outro quarto (do mal o menos, já tinha feito a viagem). Conclusão, senti-me o parente pobre dos hóspedes! Exige-se mais para uma unidade hoteleira com preços tão exorbitantes para a qualidade que oferece. Há mais e melhor por metado do preço! Aspectos positivos: Localização do Hotel, pequeno-almoço excelente, modernidade das instalações; piscina e espaço de lazer. Aspectos menos positivos: acolhimento da recepção (a pessoa mais simpática era a senhora da limpeza), espaços exteriores pouco cuidados; Cheiro a refogado por todo o espaço interior (pelo menos nesse fim-de-semana)

On our way to the south we looked for a calm and nice hotel and we were happy that we found the cooking and nature hotel. It was a wonderful stay because they are putting a lot of love to the details. The breakfast was delicous and the honestly bar is fantastic. We would stay again in the hotel when we are back to Portugal.

TL;DR: This is a fantastic, family-oriented place to stay and explore Portugal. Most guests were Portuguese, but the hotel is very welcoming to English-speaking travelers too. The Good: Excellent staff, who are all exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable and who speak very good English. They were able to provide a wide variety of recommendations for day trips in the area, ranging from hiking trails to tourist sites like the caves nearby or reservations for lunch at a local vineyard. I really cannot praise the quality of the staff highly enough. The hotel is small and intimate and very well designed. It's easy to spend the day relaxing here. The rooms are lovely, which each one having its own unique character. Lots of public sitting and social areas that actually get used by the guests. Great attention has been paid to providing space for children. As a result, this hotel is very welcoming to families. On the other hand, it also makes a perfect romantic getaway for couples. This is not an easy feat to accomplish, but the Cooking and Nature Hotel does it with style and grace. I can't speak highly enough about the thoughtfulness of the architectural and interior design. The hotel has excellent food. We were extremely happy with all of our meals here (note that the menu is kept simple: just one option the changes on a daily basis). Note that dinner is not served on Sundays. The Bad: It would be nice if the bar offered a few more affordable options for liquor and spirits. The options available were all extraordinarily good, but expensive. The electrical lighting in the rooms has been put on a clever system that shuts everything down when a card on your key is removed. This is an eco-friendly system that I approve of, but the problem is that it shuts *everything* down, including the outlets. We had to defeat the system to charge electronics while we were gone. Likewise, there was a clever switch by the beds that turned off every light in the room, just leaving a little bedside lamp on. But that switch turned off the outlets we were using for charging electronics as well, so it was unusable. I love the ideas here; the implementation needs a little more work. The Ugly: This would have easily been a five star review but for one major problem that occurred over our stay. The air conditioning in the room that my sister and her family was staying in went out completely for the first two nights we were here, at a time when the daytime temperature reached 40 degrees (100+ Fahrenheit). We weren't spending days in our rooms, and the temperature dropped at night, so it was survivable, but because the hotel was booked solid, they couldn't switch rooms until our last day. They did comp one meal for our group of seven and one bottle of wine.

Hotel bem integrado na natureza, muito tranquilo, bem decorado e com espaços exteriores rodeados de oliveiras. Boa piscina. Há possibilidade de ter aulas de cozinha. As bebidas podem ser tomadas à volta de uma fogueira ou simplesmente sentado confortavelmente numa mesa ou banco exterior ou numa sala interior com lareira. Local romântico com vista para a Serra d'Aire.

Beautiful surroundings and an extremely relaxed hotel. Loved it. The cookery lesson was fantastic. You were left to your own devices to do as you pleased. They light a fire in the evening and supply blankets for you to use outside, the staff are almost invisible. Bliss.

Some nice visitors in the winter. Great room for children to play. Rooms are ok, the building is very very nice, the place is remote and that is nice. This is not for nightlife, but for enjoying peace and nature. Please - reduce the heating, rooms too hot. The cooking dinner is too expensive.

Stayed with family for two nights. Very nice atmosphere, a relaxing place. For Portugal a little expensive. Around there are not many options for dinner, but the ones avaliable are ok. The staff are as relaxed as the place, which means they will take too long to do anything. The building is great, the rooms are great, and the experience is great. The mountains around are also very nice to explore.

Everything about this hotel and experience was perfect. From the design of the hotel, the surroundings, and activities, to the staff, and the locals we met during our 'snacks with a local' activity. I loved every minute! Highlights were the cooking class, seeing the local caves, and reading in one of the hammocks.

An architecturally stunning hotel with amazing design and a close attention to detail. The owner was very warm and professional and all his staff were friendly and kind. Our room was spacious, spotless and fun. The cooking lesson was great fun (thank you Sara!) and the wine lust was very impressive. Breakfast was fantastic and the omelette SO delicious! Pool a little cold but that didnt stop us (so Brirish!). Thank you so much to all the staff that made our stay so enjoyable.

It is amazing how well the hotel blends in with the environment that it was built on. Extra care was taken to bend around each tree. The cooking experience is very rare. All common areas are lovely and open to the outdoors. The spa area is fantastic. Even when you are sitting the windows are designed to keep you still in contact with nature.

Recomendo. Sossego, simpatia, qualidade e acolhedor.
