Quinta das Peixotas was awarded several world-class prizes and, if you pay them a visit, allows you to feel the true essence of the Douro valley. Congratulations!

Unfortunately the winery isn’t open to visit or taste their wines outside the harvest saison. When we arrived and discovered that, we called the owner and she offered to make an appointment for a visit. Due to time constraints we unfortunately had to decline the proposal and bought their wines in a local store Garrafeira Gato Preto in Régua.

After taking the tour of a large winery down the river we found ourselves looking for some thing smaller and more authentic, and we found it here at Quinta das Peixotas! The story of the family owned winery is heartwarming and the over all feeling of welcome we received was amazing! We should up out of the blue (they do prefer you call in advance) and the family members who were here during harvest time took us on a private tour, followed by a private tasting. The wine was good (we took home the 2012 white and the 2011 reserva) and the atmosphere perfect. Highly recommend!
