Très beau site au bord du Douro. Dommage que les restaurateurs du moins le personnel de salle ne parle pas un mot de français !!! Pourtant n'a France n'est pas loin!!! Ah il faut que je vous dise ici au Portugal dans les restaurants pas d'eau ni de pain sur les tables :
C'est payant et oui....ça compense un peu certains restau propose des plats copieux.
Mais bon quand on le sait pas ça surprends!!!!! Donc la salade +cafe+pain +eau =15eu aïe ...

Es ist ein nettes kleines Rastaurant in Flußnähe. Es gibt Außenbestuhlung mit Blick auf den Fluß und innen hat es ein schönes Ambiente. Ich empfehle vor allem die Grillspezialitäten. Die Qualität der Speisen ist hoch, auch schön hergerichtet und die Preise dementsprechend aber nicht überteuert. Bei uns waren die Kellner flink und sehr freudlich. Die mehrzahl der Gäste bei meinem Besuch waren Touristen.

Don't be misled by the unassuming exterior - inside is a charming restaurant serving some of the most delicious food we've had during our trip to Portugal. The service is patient and gracious, the meat and fish perfectly prepared. Don't pass on the dessert!

A cute restaurant on the bank of the Douro River. Fantastic service and the best food we have had in all of Portugal! Don’t forgot to have the drunken port cake for dessert, a unique pleasure. Wish I could rate higher than 5 stars, would highly recommend!

La restauration est trés correcte et le personnel est trés acceuillant,le jeune homme au petit chignon prend le temps de vous parler de l'origine des produits malgrés le coup de feu et en plus il parle français,il est ultra sympa,le patron a bien de la chance d'avoir un tel personnel,c'est vrai qu'en France on n'est pas habitué à ça

Très bon accueil. Un peu d'attente. Mais c'est très bon, tout au moins le cochon et l'agneau. Et le gâteau au Porto, un délice.
Ce serait bien que l'accès à la terrasse soit interdit aux chiens.

A lovely little restaurant down by the river. Great food and wine and very attentive service. What more could you want! Don’t be disappointed by chancing one of the tourist traps on the Main Street. Veladouro is highly recommended.

Tout était pourtant bien parti avec un très bon accueil assuré par un personnel jeune et dynamique.
Seulement voilà en restauration les qualités du service et de la cuisine sont primordiales.
Le service est chaotique avec quatre membre du personnel en salle pour une salle presque vide (12 couverts). Pas de Vins au verre si ce n est "la cuvée de la Maison" qui n est autre qu un mauvais vin en Bag In Box facturé 3.50 (ce qui est un comble dans une region viticole aussi prestigieuse). La bouteille d eau minérale en plastique est posée nonchalamment sur la table en guise de service (sommes nous à la Maison ou au restaurant?).
Pour ce qui est des plats il a fallu 40 minutes aux trois personnes en cuisine pour sortir deux viandes trop cuites accompagnées de crudités non assaisonnées. Cuisson et assaisonnement = la base de la cuisine. Absence de mise en place: Le personnel rentre de la marchandise en cuisine en pleins milieu du service pour assurer 12 couverts. Le dessert est réalisé à la minute avec un micro-onde pas très discret.
Le tout est bien sûr facturé au même prix que d autres établissements environnants qui proposent une cuisine moins paresseuse doublée d un service à la hauteur.

Top tent, codfish een salade en 350gr ripeye. Medium rare.
Service super aardig en behulpzaam. We waren getuige van een jarige Job, daar werd net even het extraatje voor gedaan, en super mooi voor gezongen .
Witte port & Tonic mix is echt een aanrader.
Houd er rekening mee dat om 15:00 de keuken tijdelijk sluit.
Ik gun dit bedrijf een top toekomst.

Na carta falham muitas opções de pratos, da mesma forma que os vinhos disponíveis são muito poucos e são vendidos com uma margem de preço muito alta (chega a ser de 50%). O espaço é frio e com pouca luz. Contudo, a carne é de boa qualidade e muito bem confeccionada.

Très décevant. Nous visitions le secteur pour quelques jours et avons pris la peine d’appeler pour réserver pour le soir même. Lorsque nous nous sommes présentés, personne n’etait Présent, le restaurant était fermé. Inadmissible considérant que nous avions eu confirmation de la réservation plus tôt par téléphone. Dommage. Très dommage.

Best Food in Pinhao. Good service. Very affordable, although definitely not as cheap as some of the other places in town. Visited multiple times during our stay. Get there early though right when they open though if you don't have a reservation or you will likely be turned away. Very busy.

Generous portions of rib eye steak, black pork & salmon that came with potatoes. We also ordered a tuna salad as we were not informed about the huge plate of salad with the main courses. A tummy filling meal indeed!

Great food at very good prices. We ordered a cote du boef style serving, and on top also were provided with a fresh salad and an additional bowl of rice for our toddler. And not pure plain rice, but boiled in some kind of broth with herbs. She loved them. While we waited for the food, the owner lent us one of his daughters toys, really making the short wait easier for our little one. In general good food, good value for money, and friendly staff. We would come back if we were to visit the town again.

Locale molto carino, sulla strada che costeggia il Douro, dove si può fare una bella passeggiata. La carne è buonissima. Dó quattro stelle perché il mio tortino di patate, che accompagnava la carne, era ancora in parte congelato....ma per scusarsi ci hanno offerto due bicchieri di Porto. Comunque ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Da provare.....magari siete più fortunati! (Quello del mio compagno era buonissimo)

Une viande rouge à couper le souffle un vin rouge excellent et un dessert qui fait exploser les papilles.
Le cadre est très sympa et propre et MODERNE . On peut y regarder les matchs en plus .
On a passé une très bonne soirée ici merci pour tout .

Nette kleines Lokal direkt am Fluss. Etwas versteckt und schwer zu finden und von aussen nicht sofort zu erkennen. Service spricht gut Englisch. Speisen und Getränke super.

Pouco sinpaticos, tentamos marcar várias vezes e nem sequer atendem o telefone. Quando vamos sem reserva dizem para marcar. Melhor ir a onde nos recebem bem e a comida é excelente. Resumindo veladouro nunca mais... Não precisão de clientes

Não consegui obter qualquer resultado como restaurante. Já são muito importantes e não atendem o telefone para efectuar uma simples reserva. Fui pessoalmente ao local, perguntaram se tinha reserva. Lógico que não, respondi. Estamos cheios e não atendemos mais ninguém. Isto às 20 15. Arrogância e prepotência, meio caminho andado para nunca mais pensar sequer em lá pôr os pés. Felizmente existem outros e com qualidade.

We've been there about 5 times now. It's a bit more expensive but we're guaranteed good food, great service, super wine and amazing views so well worth it. We'll certainly be back again!

Great meal! We tried both the dourado (sea bream) as well as the salmon, and they were both expertly cooked on the grill. I really appreciated how well seasoned the fish was as well. Excellent service too, very friendly and casual. Lastly everything was very reasonably priced, especially considering the quality of the food.

Average price of main dishes 15-26 euros. Salads 12 euros. Nice patio dining with shady patio view of parking lot, trees and river. Friendly service. I had the tuna salad which was huge. I shared my meal with annoying bees which were probably drawn to the area by farms. Relaxing lunch with nice breeze on nice October day
If you see a wine bottle on the table it means the table is Reserved.
The table next to ours was reserved . At least 5 couples sat down and were then asked to eat inside. Better to put a sign on the table SAYING RESERVED

Recommended by a local winery tour as the place to eat. Small menu consisting of mostly fish, but some meats. Great sized portions, very well cooked. Prices were great. Service was quick and polite. Wine selection was obviously extensive..would definitely recommend!

Great Portuguese food with relaxed friendly service in a stunning location on the edge of the river Douro. Gets busy so book of you can, especially if you want to be in the indoor air-conditioned area rather than the scenic shaded terrace.

Acompanhei o meu irmão e os meus primos aí. Não pedi nada porque não havia opções vegan para mim mas fiquei agradavelmente surpresa pela gentileza do staff. Ele não opinaram por eu ter levado comigo o meu tupperware. Foram super atenciosos (menção especial à senhora) e até deram a conhecer 2 tipos de vinhos aquando a escolha da bebida. Os pratos são muito delicados mas muito bem servidos. Segundo a minha família, tudo estava muito saboroso e "tenrinho". As fotos falam por elas e também é de salientar a beleza do espaço e da localização do restaurante. Recomendo para quem segue uma alimentação sem restrições.

Nous avons testé la dorade et le poulpe qui étaient excellent. Un peu d'attente (mercredi à 13h30) mais la vue sur le Douro et la sympathie et le professionnalisme des serveurs l'ont rendu tout à fait agréable. Les serveurs parlent très bien français.

Veladouro was recommended by locals and we were not disappointed. They have extensive seafood options but we opted for fillet mignon medallions and rack of lamb. Both were delicious and we enjoyed every last morsel. Strongly recommend

Delicious and copious food for affordable prices. A lovely interior decor and table setting. Large terrace on the outside with a beautiful view of the lake and the hills. Large variety of wine from the region, products are healthy and cooked on coco coal which add in flavour. Service is excellent, servers speaking multiple languages and being very nice. Absolutely recommend, it is definitely worth a trip.

Le service est très bon, les serveurs parlent anglais et même français, la déco est sympathique, leur viande est succulente et très bien accompagnée
Enfin pour le dessert je recommande la mousse au chocolat qui est simplement excellente

Foi nos recomendado pelo hotel quando chegamos perguntamos se as doses eram grandes e davam para duas pessoas pedimos polvo, quando a dose chegou era apenas uma perna de polvo obviamente que não dava para dois apesar do preço elevado. Acabei por pedir uma dose de picanha que era realmente boa, o polvo por outro lado era borracha

Superbe ! Avons réservé pour 10 personnes le matin même : un accueil très chaleureux, cuisine excellente et très copieuse ! Une équipe vraiment sympathique et qui nous raconte l'histoire du pays. Petit plus : le Porto local offert à la fin.

Excellently prepared food with a tightly designed menu. Slightly pricier than the smaller more local style restaurants, but still very well priced for the quality and service. The octopus was perfectly cooked, and the pork deliciously seasoned.

The best octopus ever! Still remember the taste of it. So juicy, so big. :) plus with main dish you get very delicious salads. Excellent service. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Amazing place just had lunch there and it was soooo nice and the service so good and informative...if visiting make sure you leave the room for the drunken port cake and the delicious ice cream! Thank you for a wonderful meal and time

Fantastic. One of the waiters was disinterested and mean, the rest were very nice! Rib Eye was Dry Aged from Madrid and was fantastic! the rest was also terrific. I highly recommend this place.

We came with low expectations and where very positively surprised. Excellent grilled salmon and salad, and my lamb was succulent, tender and very tasty. An first time in portugal they actually gave me medium as I ordered. The wine they recommended fit our taste very well and finished the bottle during the evening. There's sometimes a special port on the house at the end.

Enjoyed it. Big meal we shared between two. Fish was nice and fresh and sides were pretty good. Price is reasonable around 15 euros for a main dish.

É difícil encontrar pontos positivos desta experiência... Por partes:
1) entramos no restaurante e estivemos quase 5 minutos até alguém vir ter connosco. Nem que fosse para dizer "aguarde só um minuto"
2) disseram-nos logo que não havia mesas no interior. Só lá fora, ou então aguardar uns 10 minutos até alguém sair. Havia duas mesas (uma dupla preparada para um grupo talvez e outra normal) sem ninguém. Pensei que estivessem reservadas mas até à hora de sairmos (quase a hora de fecho) não apareceu ninguém. Valeu um casal que já estava quase de saída e nós deixou sentar numa das pontas.
3) depois de sentados, estivemos quase 20 minutos até alguém vir ter connosco. Poderia perceber se a casa estivesse cheia, mas nem meia casa estava... Não trocaram a mesa dos clientes anteriores, não meteram os pratos e talheres. Pedimos a comida, vieram as entradas e ainda sem pratos... Tivemos que pedir...
4) pedimos cola com gelo e limão e disseram que não tinham limão. Um restaurante sem limão? A sério?
5) a comida até veio rápida. Demasiado rápida... Fica aquela sensação que já está feita e é só ligeiramente aquecida...
6) com um serviço tão mau, esperava que a comida ao menos fosse boa. Nada disso. Comida sem sabor, apesar de bem empratada. A batata não era nem cozida, nem assada... Ficou até meia crua ainda. A picanha foi provavelmente a pior que comi na vida. Rija, sem sabor algum (a teoria da comida já feita e aquecida bate certa)
7) não houve uma única vez um empregado a dirigir à mesa, fomos sempre nós a ter que chamar.
8) a porta de acesso à cozinha estava aberta e dava para ver os funcionários num ritmo muito lento de trabalho... Um deles sentado o tempo todo ao telemóvel...
Bom, lá se salvou as sobremesas que estavam boas...
Não sei se tive azar (pois vejo tantas boas críticas e foi isso que nos levou lá), mas claramente hoje o serviço foi péssimo. Aliás, considero a pior experiência que tive num restaurante até ao dia de hoje...

Une cuisine de gourmet et de gourmand, à un tarif qui reste maîtrisé.
Des poissons et des desserts d'exception, un Porto qui fait honneur à la région en digestif !
Un serveur qui maîtrise parfaitement le Français.
Pour profiter de la terrasse, il vaut mieux réserver.

Only called in for a drink. Manager has first class knowledge of his spirit and wine stock. Place was very busy with both visitors and locals. Food looked good and all eating tables were full. I think this speaks for itself.

Good food and reasonabled priced. You can't go wrong here. Both the fish and the meat is simple and good. Limited menu in some sense. But they serve their food right. Also an ok, but small selection of wine. Skip the olives. Keep the bread.

Awesome little restaurant for eating a good meal. At first we were told the kitchen couldn't handle any more guests, but half an hour later we got served anyway. Very nice plates of fish here and some delicious wines. Because we stayed until late, one of the workers offfered to drive us back to our b&b. Great!

Come-se muito bem no VelaDouro... o atendimento é simples correcto e rápido tem excelentes vinhos ... Comer cá fora é um MUST mas só é pena que não tenham as mesas da esplanada cá fora bem mais bonitas e apresentavéis pois o lugar é muito bom e o Restaurante tb...

Adresse trouvée sur le Lonely Planet, arrivée à l'arrache à 15 heures en plein mois de janvier... et super accueil ! Malgré la cuisine sur le point de fermer, on nous a fait une grillade de pata negra (ce fameux cochon nourri aux glands et hors de prix), remis le chauffage, et offert un porto en dessert. Pour 25 euros à 2, imbattable !

Welcoming staff, very good food. Fresh bread served with oil while waiting for food. Also serves one good vegetarian option (nice rich salad).
