Hotel parfait : accueil, service, decoration, sans oublier l’attention bienveillante, efficace et discrète du directeur. Excellent séjour au calme. Seule la météo était un peu capricieuse pendant ce séjour et, de ce fait, nous n’en apprécions que plus toutes les qualités de ce merveilleux endroit.

Een sprookje. Zo bijzonder. Bijzonder vriendelijk personeel, fantastische kamers en heerlijk eten. Wij zijn er getrouwd en met 40 gasten verbleven wij in de superior suites. Ieder jaar komen wij een of twee keer terug. Keer op keer zo mooi.

My husband and I stayed at Vila Monte on our honeymoon and had the absolute best time!! They made our stay so special. The staff were amazing.We loved both the restaurants! I have multiple food allergies and they totally catered to everything. Everything we had was delicious and they had a fabulous local & international wine selection. We could not get over how stunning the grounds were! There was so much thought put into the landscape design, the gardens, and the rooms. It is such a special place and we plan to return!

Very peaceful and relaxing. Service is top-notch. The hotel has a beautiful garden, a great restaurant, excellent breakfast, lots of activities that are offered at reception and great places to visit around by boat or by car. Perfect recepie for a perfect vacation.

Standard rooms are pretty tight, but the rest of the property is expansive without that mega-resort feel. Food, landscaping and amenities are great for the area.

Absolutely wonderful, serene place to stay in the hills above Olhão. A quick drive into town but a world of luxury away. Wonderful and you get what you pay for in life! Both restaurants at the hotel fantastic too.

Very nice . A great place to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. Adult only pool and gardens are lovely. The service can be mixed depending on who you ask but on the whole they try hard to please. Nice beaches not far away and tavira old town is great for restaurants and wandering in the evening.

Hidden and authentic gem that delivers peace, beauty and great service. It is worth the detour and the distance from neighboring towns and beaches adds to the experience.
The photogenic and instagram-ready setting with lush gardens and uber-designed decor makes a perfect backdrop to a tranquil no fuss vacation. Farmhouse food and hotel service are both excellent. Most rooms are on the small side so splash out on a more expensive room if you can afford it (and avoid rooms 41-49 since these look onto a 4m high stone wall and get no sun nor views).
Lots of romantic couples, some young families (hotel offers activities for young kids) and a few corporate-types who seemed rather out of place with their mobile phones. The outdoor cinema set in the garden was a pleasant surprise and we relished our wine and deserts while lounging in the deck chairs under the stars.

We stayed at Vila Monte Farm House as part of a bike tour and found this to be a real oasis. The farmhouse and grounds were very .... well, being from the states, very CA sheikh and contemporary. We had a huge suite with a large patio seating area. The grounds, landscaping and views were exceptional; manicured and kept immaculate. There were plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy including 2 pools, an outdoor movie theatre, bicycles and tennis courts among other amenities. The dining too was certainly fine of which a highlight was a virtually private and unhurried Port tasting conducted by an expert in the field.

We spent a wonderful week at the gorgeous Vila Monte! A really unique property, which feels both intimate and spacey at the same time, and of course this comes at a premium. It is highly recommended to hire a car, as nearby towns are nice to visit (especially when only one restaurant was open at the hotel) - including Tavira, Lagos (further afield), Olhao and Vila Real. The food was great, and despite the limited vegetarian options, the chefs were happy to whip something up of our suggestion, which was very welcome. A more balanced menu and ensuring both restaurants are open would be a better touch. The pool area is great, and there are lots of nice spots to relax/read/roam about. Breakfast was a real highlight! Fresh foods and really yum. Do note that in the evening there were mosquitoes, so be prepared. Overall, a highly recommended stay, with very friendly and informative staff, which we will remember fondly!

Lovely hotel. Staff were excellent and the grounds are amazing. Highly recommended if you like boutique hotels but fancy a bit more space for a change. Equally nice for adults and kids, couples or families, singletons or groups. Big thanks to Joaquin and the team. We'll definitely be back.

The hotel is relatively small with rooms being separated into three different buildings. This means that each block has its own individual ‘cosy’ atmosphere. The buildings are located in beautifully landscaped areas.We were made very welcome on arrival and throughly enjoyed our stay.

Cannot praise this place enough. We had our wedding here and the staff's attention to detail was phenomenal. They really care about every one of their guest's stay. Expensive but worth every cent. Special mention to Laura and Joaquim for helping make our stay at Vila Monte truly memorable. Our own guests loved staying there and have already booked again or told friends to go.

Superbe complexe hôtelier, un personnel sympathique et accueillant, un peu bruillant en cause beaucoup d'enfants qui sont laisser en liberté totale par leur parents sur le site.
Le restaurant A Terra propose une cuisine savoureuse et du poisson frais chaque jour. Nous y avons dîner 2 fois et bien que délicieux par deux fois mes légumes étaient trop al dente ( patate douce quasi crus ainsi que la poêlée de légumes de mon bar) et un gros bémol
un petit coup de gueule contre tous ces restaurants qui vous vendent de l'eau du robinet mise en bouteille par eux via une filtration. Quelle soit plate ou gazeuse si je demande de l'eau en bouteille ce n'est pas pour avoir de l'eau du robinet. Et souvent en plus on ne vous donnes pas le choix. Cette mode se répend au Portugal et je trouve ça à la limite de l'arnaque. De plus pas sur que cette eau qui est mise en bouteille ne développe pas des bactéries en restant des heures dans les bouteilles. Car les philtres neutralisent le chlore qui lui neutralise les bactéries. Merci donc de donner au client la possibilité de choisir surtout si c'est payant

Vilamonte es un lugar ideal para venir con la familia o en pareja. Perfectamente situado a un paso de cualquier lugar de interés en la zona del Algarve, las comunicaciones por carretera son excelentes y una vez llegado, el lugar es fantástico. Que una niña de 8 años bastante viajada diga que es su hotel favorito, dice mucho. Pero ¿qué hace a este lugar un sitio ideal para pasar unas vacaciones? Primero, el entorno y calidad de sus instalaciones. Segundo, la comodidad, espacio y equipamiento de sus habitaciones. Tercero, su oferta gastronómica con su restaurante A Terra y cuarto, y más importante, la calidad humana del equipo que dirige el GM Lionel Álvarez.
Ver que todos los trabajadores tienen una sonrisa, una cálida frase, un saber estar en cada situación invita siempre a querer volver al hotel porque uno se siente como en casa.
A destacar la piscina exterior climatizada y el coqueto y funcional gimnasio pero lo más agradable es que hay aromas que rodean continuamente las instalaciones: desde leña de encinas que se queman todas las noches en rincones a modo de fogatas a los olores a flores y hierbas de las sábanas.

Tout est magnifique du jardin à la chambre. Nous avons apprécié cette dernière : grande et sobre avec son joli bouquet. Fin mars, c'est le seul hôtel de notre road-trip où nous avons pu nous baigner à l'extérieur car la piscine est chauffée. Nous avons pris notre petit déjeuner dans la salle car les matinées étaient encore fraîches mais sur la terrasse ça doit être encore plus agréable ! Seul bémol pour le restaurant : nous préférons une salle à manger plus intimiste. Nous reviendrons avec grand plaisir :)

Eine wunderschöne, großzügige Hotelanlage abseits des Trubels mit viel Liebe zum Detail. Die Zimmer sind äußerst geschmackvoll eingerichtet und laden zum Wohlfühlen ein. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und um jeden Gast bemüht. Auch Vierbeiner sind herzlich willkommen. Tolles gastronomisches Angebot mit regionalen Produkten.

Amazing & special place to stay! We really enjoyed our visit to this hotel and we were made to feel special from the moment we arrived. The staff here are phenonemal and will make you feel so looked after. The grounds are beautiful and in a rural setting, its a drive away from visiting the towns and attractoons but if you want to repax, then this is perfect The restaurant was really good, with options to suit any budget. The fresh cookies & cocktail invites were such a lovely touch!

What a lovely place!
I stayed in November with some colleagues for a work trip and it was a very agreeable stay.
The hotel and it’s grounds are very well maintained and the design is tasteful.
All the little touches one appreciates in hotel were there and everything was expertly and discreetly taken care of.
All the staff were A+, especially the chap who I assume is the maître d’. He’s exactly the kind of guy who makes guests feel welcome and looked after in a hotel, a real credit.
As it was a work trip I can’t comment on the value vs price but I would be happy to pay an elevated price to stay considering the high level of everything I experienced.
My only disappointment was, as very often, that the menu is very meat/animal centric. Not much on offer from la carte for vegetarians/ vegans. That being said, the chef and waiting staff were understanding and made a super effort to accommodate

Writing this review mit mixed feelings. Vila Monte is a good place to stay if you are looking for a chique family resort, if you prefer a charming little boutique hotel, it’s maybe not the right place for you. On the one hand, Vila Monte is a super beautiful property, with stylish decoration and beautiful gardens. The rooms were also decorated nicely. On the other hand, I was missing the individual service that could have made my stay perfect. Compared to smaller places, you miss the little details, it‘s rather a professional hotel chain which does not pay too much attention to the individual. Breakfast and food was ok but everything extra comes along with high cost and we e.g. had to ask the service to bring us some more coffee instead of them asking us if we are happy. We could feel that we were staying a bit off season and many things/activities were only available during summer time.

Very nice location with a lot of green. We loved the orange and the herbs gardens. The rooms are ok, bathroom is nothing special. The food was fine too, but heavily overpriced. The staff tried to be friendly and helpful, but you can feel that this is a resort and a part of a bigger hotel chain. We missed the attention to details, especially in this price category.

Das Hotel ist super, modern und sehr gepflegt. Inmitten von alten Bäumen und einem sehr gepflegten Garten.
Viele Serviceangebote z.B Fahrdienst an den Strand, mit Boot auf die Insel mit Picknick, Sonnenschirm und Badehandtücher...
Das Restaurant steht jedermann offen, ist qualitativ hochwertig und unbedingt vorher reservieren.
Hier lässt es sich gut Urlaub machen!

We kwamen voor de lunch in dit paradijsje terecht. Prachtig aangelegde tuinen en heerlijk eten onder de beschutting van de bomen, in een parkachtige omgeving. Bediening was top, met heerlijk broodplankje, wat een verwennerij en super lekker hoofdgerecht, perfecte wijn erbij. Hier gaan we vaker naartoe. Aanrader!

Hôtel de rêve. Un petit coin de paradis. Le restaurant est excellent. Le petit déjeuner est gargantuesque. On peut le prendre en salle ou sur la terrasse avec vue sur la vallée. La journée, on entend les oiseaux chanter dans le parc et la nuit les grenouilles prennent le relais.

My wife and I stayed here for a honeymoon with our two boys in April. We had the most amazing time, despite the weather not being the best. The staff were incredibly attentive from start to finish, even the hotel manager introduced himself on our first day and made sure we were happy everytime he saw us. Everyone else from the reception staff to the gardeners were always very polite and the restaurant staff got to know us very well and our taste for wine (we ate here every evening and a few times for lunch - the food was incredible and reasonably priced). We also had the benefit of a kids club and the two staff were brilliant with our two boys (the kids club isn't there all the time, I think just for the school holidays). The grounds and accommodation were beautiful and very photogenic, I couldn't stop taking pictures! We hired a car and I'd recommend anyone else does the same as there's not much within a short walk away, it is however easy to commute everywhere. It's certainly our most favourite family friendly hotel and we'll definitely be back! Thank you to everyone who made our stay so rememberable.

Honestly heaven. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. The plantation is just incredible with all the orange blossom just smells amazing! The breakfast is all home grown/local and there is a huge variety of breakfast options. Rooms are beautiful with stunning view.

We stayed at Vila Monte during the offseason and got upgraded to a superior room at no charge. It was a very nice room and had everything we needed in it. The staff were great and the restaurant was delicious. I'd definitely stay again if I'm in Portugal.

Une ancienne villa devenu hotel au cours des années. Un jardins de plus de 50 ans, luxuriant, des espaces adaptés pour les familles, les adultes. Un service attentionné, une direction toujours présente sur les lieux répondant à vos attentes en temps réel. Des moments fabuleux en famille.
Seul bémol, il manque des suites communicantes pour les familles, mais 2018 devrait voir celles-ci arriver...

Definitely recommend this hotel. We enjoyed the room, the beautiful garden, the two pools and the excellent restaurants. Great breakfast buffet. The personnel is really caring without overloading. This part of Algarve is beautiful, closed to Olhao a small city worth to visit, giving access by boat to all remote beaches of the lagune. Overall a nice place to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Fantastic hotel. Very friendly welcoming staff. Excellent facilities. Lots of space so you never felt that hotel was busy. Good food and breakfast.

Stunning place. Staying in junior suite which is super charming and very comfortable. The place is beautiful to walk around and there is a nice easy dining restaurant. For me the only tiny downsides were in the dining. No fresh bread... They bring you some toasted stuff... And Portugal has amazing fresh bread everywhere you eat. And they don't serve tap water... You have to buy bottled, which seems unnecessary in a place promoting a green agenda.

Eine Woche Aufenthalt zum Rennradfahren im März. Sehr schöne Anlage. Frühstücksbüffet auch für die anstehenden Ausfahrten gut und reichhaltig. Abendessen: Gute Auswahl leckerer Speisen. Portionen auch für Sportler ausreichend. Preise für die Region nicht billig. Personal sehr freundlich. Da wir im März zu Besuch waren, war die Location bei weitem nicht ausgebucht, was es insgesamt natürlich noch angenehmer machte. Zum Rennradfahren war das Revier viel besser als erwartet. Streckenangebot gut und Straßen im Norden sehr einsam und gut. Da wir tagsüber auf dem Rad saßen, kann ich über die Anlage selbst (Pool usw.) nicht viel sagen, außer das die Anlage sehr weitläufig ist und wir gar nicht alles gesehen haben.

We visited in December 2015. It was our first trip to the Algarves Region. And it's certainly not going to be our last! The staff, food, ambience, location and activities at Villa Monte were all enchanting. Imagine being surrounded by the fragrance of orange blossoms and eating a freshly picked orange from the tree just outside your room! Imagine walking through the herb garden each day to select the herbs for your organic meals! Imagine personalized activities and tours! And getting a pizza baking lesson from the Head Chef after spending a morning at the local market with him! This was our experience at Villa Monte! Simply spectacular in every way imaginable. We are sure to return for many more of there relaxing and truly unique vacations.

Schöne Zimmer, sehr sauber, schöne und weitläufige Anlage, super leckeres und frisches Frühstücksbuffet, ruhig, bietet viele Möglichkeiten in der Umgebung (Faro, Tavira, Loule).Lediglich das Restaurant hat uns persönlich hinsichtlich Preis-Leistung nicht überzeugt. Aber es gibt gute Alternativen in Moncarapacho.

Gorgeous property. Lovely staff. Beautiful decor and delicious food. The Lam hops and pork loin were expertly prepared. We sat in the garden where it was romantic surrounded by trees and flowers.

We loved Vila Monte, the lovely grounds, excellent staff, very relaxed atmosphere. It was a green oasis amid a very arid surrounding landscape. We did not spend much time using the hotels facilities, but a car was necessary to visit the local towns and coast. We were disappointed with our room(Room 6) although it was only a standard double room, we would have expected a chair in the room as when we were in the room we could only sit/lie on the bed. It was also situated a little out of the way, next to the cleaners room,under trees and with no sunlight or view. (Not one of the better rooms) We ate in the A Terra restaurant twice and felt it was not good value for money - expensive. Again staff very friendly. Breakfast was very good, and staff extremely friendly and helpful. We ate in Moncarapacho, about 5 minutes drive, at Antonios and Restaurant Da Ana, both very good and very reasonable prices. All in all a lovely hotel, but not keen on the room.

Je suis déçu,Si lhôtel, les installations, chambres, parc, sont modernes et magnifiques.En revanche et de façon générale, le personnel au restaurant et déjeuner, plutôt jeune, dit à peine bonjour, et ne décroche jamais un sourire.Le restaurant est plutôt chère et sans originalité.Le petit déjeuner est une catastrophe, le jus dorange nen est pas, peu de choix de confiture.Lhôtel est clairement tourné vers la clientèle anglo-saxon, à part le directeur, le personnel ne parle pas français et ne fait aucun effort pour vous mettre à laise à ce niveau.Dernier point, bien quéloigné de la ville, lhôtel nen est pas calme pour autant, les voisins directs possèdent des chiens et ça sentend.

Du calme, de la verdure, un personnel hyper sympathique, un service impeccable, un patron très sympa, un super restaurant, des chambres claires, des espaces communs à la déco très soignée. Vila Monte is a truly magical place; from the welcoming fire in the reception with amazing gin cocktails prepared by Tiago to the perfect lounging spaces by the two pools (and everything in between), our stay was memorable.
Just renovated, the rooms are massive and above-all comfortable and cosy. Every detail has been considered, from the bench at the end of the bed (which proved incredibly convenient) to the large bathroom and luxurious bed. Sun hats, walking sticks, beach wraps and a beach bag also awaited us, perfect for trips to the private Vila Monte Fuseta beach. Views on the hotel grounds and out over the countryside were lovely; two windows in the main room and one in the bathroom.
The on-site restaurant, while a bit expensive for Portuguese standards, never failed to please with wood-fire pizza and Josper oven steaks. The breakfast buffet (included in our stay) was one of the best hotel buffets we have ever had; with a plethora of fresh homemade juices and smoothies (different each day), hot options (eggs, baked beans, bacon etc) and cold options (muesli, fruit, cereal, cheese, meats, pastries). You even have the option of asking for omelettes, but we never needed to given the buffet choices.
The staff was wonderful - we were looked after impeccably, but without imposition. Various people helped us book horse riding (20 minutes away), beach trips and restaurant recommendations (go to the famous Octopus place in Santa Luzia for sure). Tiago made us lovely cocktails each evening and also made sure we were comfortable to watch the rugby in the reception with other guests. He also made us the most amazing take away breakfast (without charging) when he heard we were leaving too early to catch the buffet. Vila Monte also has a lovely bedtime service of dropping of their fresh homemade cookies. We miss those cookies!
In terms of location, Vila Monte is in the countryside on a hill with beautiful panoramic views to the sea and rolling hills; it is just on the outskirts of the small town of Moncarapacho which is just about 10/15 minutes drive from the fishing town of Olhao and the Fuseta beach. Just a little further is Santa Luzia (an octopus fishing village) and then Tavira. The hotel is just a few minutes from the main highway so very easy to get to from Faro or from Lisbon. I would not worry at all about not bring right on the sea. All the hotels on the sea seem very touristy, same for Tavira, so if you are not into touristy destinations, Vila Monte is your best bet.
Highly recommend it...only downside is you will probably not find such a lovely hotel at your next stop, particularly for the price!

Wer ein wenig Ruhe vom Allragsstress sucht, ist hier genau richtig. Die Zimmer sind absolut geräumig und komfortabel. Die Pools wunderbar in die Gartenlandschaft integriert. Der vom Hotel organisierte Transfer zum Strand ist toll. Das Restaurant lässt keine Wünsche offen.

Site très agréable. Chambre coquette mais mal insonorisée. Je suis très déçue par le SPA, j'ai attendue 20 mn à l'accueil sans voir personne, alors que j'avais RDV j'ai fini par partir ! Pour un endroit où l'on doit prendre soin de vous c'est un peu limite !

Ich weiss nicht wo im Vila Monte sich die 4 Sterne verstecken und wir waren sehr enttäuscht, da uns dieses Hotel empfohlen wurde:hässliche Zimmer, Schimmel im Bad und sehr spärliche Frühstücksauswahl.Der einzigste Pluspunkt von Aussen sieht die Anlage ganz ok aus. Wer ein gutes Hotel in der Gegend sucht: geht ins Palacio de Estoi.

Wir waren zum golfen in der der Algarve und haben daher die schöne Hotelanlage wenig genutzt. Sehr schöne Terasse beim Frühstück mit tollem Blick. Sterneküche ist etwas überteuert und hat den Ansprüchen nicht ganz genüge getragen. Insgesamt sehr, sehr empfehlenswert.

Leider ist die Beschreibung vom Hotel nicht ganz ehrlich. Der Strand ist mind. 8 km entfernt und bedarf einen Zeitaufwand von ca. 30 Min. sonst aber ganz gut

Le cadre est très joli, les jardins sont plaisants, l hotel se situe au milieu dun petit golf. La qualité de laccueil est décevante pour un relai et chateaux. Beaucoup de fourmi dans les chambres, malgré plusieures requêtes, nous avons du faire un traitement nous même pour nous en débarasser.
