A nice surprise. We have found the Michelin-listed restaurant in Lagos by an accident.
An unassuming restaurant offers daily menu for €19.90. We had fish soup, pork stew in pot and créme caramel. We also ordered an octopus salad, glass of wine and water. The food was simple, but very tasty.
Total price was €31. Quite affordable.

Apesar de ficar num local escondido, sem vistas, quem vai lá procura uma boa seleção de vinhos e uma variedade de pratos de excelente qualidade. Recomendo a cataplana.

Amazing fish, king prawns and shell fish in general. The cataplana is a very good choice for a well assorted variety of seafood. Definitely recommended!

La carte des poissons est fournie, tout est frais, préparé minute et bien présenté.
Mention spéciale aux gambas grillées à l'ail, un vrai bonheur !
Menu à 20€ entrée-plat-dessert, avec de beaux filets de dorade grillés en plat.

Accueil en français fort agréable. Une carte également proposée en français. Un menu du jour à moins de 20 € composé de 3 plats avec plusieurs choix. Une carte courte avec des produits frais. Je me suis régalée d'une excellente cataplana aux palourdes. Mon époux a choisi le menu composé d'une soupe de poissons, une dorade grillée et d'un dessert. Rapport qualité prix excellent

Le service est impeccable et le patron a l'écoute des critiques. Ce qui est une très bonne chose. Mais nous avons été déçu par les plats. Qui sont correctes sans plus.

Restaurant où on mange plutôt bien. Par contre pas les prix ne sont pas donnés. Un excellent poulpe en entrée par contre la brochette de lottes m'a fortement déçu, très fade. Personnel très aimable. Rapport qualité prix moyen.

The restaurant met all the expectations we had after reading online reviews. We booked and arrived early before the rush. The place was very quite when we arrived but soon filled up. We choose the fish stew for 2 and got a very generous serving (way too much food!) The house red was very drinkable and the 2 wait staff were lovely. Thanks for a great evening.

First of all i planned to eat somewhere else, but others decided to go here, which already prepared the ground for my disappointment. But this was just my mindset.
The service was flawless and very attentive for sure.
I really wanted to eat chicken piri piri that evening. What i got here was dry chicken breast with piece of skin on it (not baked or crunchy) with maybe teaspoon of sauce on it. Pure disappointment. Especially when i remembered some real chicken piri piri from several churrasqueiras from same region from year ago.
Others, who ordered some seafood dishes were quite satisfied, but not impressed.
Also you need to consider, that outdoor seating is in the middle of pretty narrow busy street. Not my cup of tea either.

Wow wow and wow. What an amazing meal. We had the fisherman's stew last night and we are still raving about it. The broth alone was fabulous, and throw in head on prawns, clams, and that wonderful monkfish, forget it, over the top delicious. The servers were gracious and funny, and the owner Carlos even took time to say hello and make some wine recommendations. Glad we reserved a table, because the place was packed, and with food that good it should have been. Bravo.

Maybe it’s because it’s on the main strip of Lagos old town but I don’t really get the hype about this place. Food is reasonable and the service ok but not that special. Have had far better meals and service for a better price in Portugal.

Plutôt déçu. Nous y sommes allés devant l’excellente notation mais n’avons pas ressenti la même impression de qualité. Les calamars frits semblaient être de l’industriel congelé. Les accompagnements des plats étaient des crudités insipides avec tomates pas mûres. Les pâtes végétariennes baignaient dans l’huile. Seul le bar grillé était bon. Prix dans la moyenne.

Schon bei der Bestellung hat man das Gefühl, dass man schnell zu sein hat. Dann war die Kellnerin not amused,weil wir "nur" Suppe und Salat bestellt haben. Ich war noch nicht mal fertig mit dem Essen, der Salat wurde abgeräumt. Das Knoblauchbrot hatte ich noch in der Hand, kaum habe ich das Stück kurz auf den Teller gegeben um mein Bier zu trinken, kam der Kellner und ohne mich zu fragen nahm er den Teller samt meinem Brot mit...beim bezahlen hatten die es dann auf einmal nicht mehr so eilig und haben uns 15min warten lassen.

Atendendo à época do ano e à quantidade de turismo que existe em Lagos, pensei que fosse pagar muito, comer pouco e ser mal atendido. Não posso estar mais enganado. A cataplana de peixe é excelente e bastante generosa, a cataplana de carne, embora não esteja ao nível da de peixe é também excelente. Tudo regado com um bom tinto a um preço equilibrado., aliás a carta de vinhos é bastante boa.
Por último o staff é bastante atencioso e simpático.

Reservamos mesa y mereció la pena la espera. Gran calidad en su comida, el servicio de lujo, muy profesional en todos los camareros que nos atendieron. Un Restaurante pequeño pero muy confortable, lo recomiendo totalmente.

Restaurante pequeño con mesas en interior y terraza. El servicio es todo y muy amable, te echan la bebida y atienden con una sonrisa. La carta no es muy amplia pero la comida esta exquisita, además tiene muy buena relación calidad precio. Los entrantes de pan de ajo, o los platos de pescado muy recomendables.

Delicious regional food
What a busy place, people waiting for a table getting in the way of the servers, must be a good sign. A good number of tables outside in the middle of a narrow street with tables also inside for when the nights are a little colder. One of the few restaurants serving some more authentic dishes like rabbit, the main reason for our visit. However, my ‘better half’ won’t touch rabbit, she had one as a pet when she was little.
The servers where busy but attentive. We ordered a bottle of water, vinho de casa Branco and bread. We shared a starter of prawns fried in garlic (gamba fita com alho) which was light and not too oily like the Spanish Gambas Pil Pil.
The mains of Filetes de Pescada, fillets of pan fried fish served with French fries and salad garnish.
I had the rabbit and mushroom stew which arrived in a deep pot with lots of rich but light gravy served with boiled potatoes. No room for pudding, a complementary drink finished a delicious meal with a total cost of €41.95
Our second visit to this restaurant for a light meal as we had lunch out in Alte. Again it was very busy with groups waiting for tables, our server from the previews visit spotted us and seated us very quickly.
‘Not having “Bugs Bunny” tonight said our server, “no”, we ordered the usual bottle of water, a bottle of vinho de casa and bread. Our mains to share was a plate of baby fried squids (Lulinas Freitas com Alho) much to the surprise of our server as she’d explained they are not cleaned and still have the heads on, perfect bring them on, we have had them many times in Spain as Chipriones, they are delicious.
The next plate to share was described in English as fried Black pork, actually it’s slices of shoulder of pork from the black foot Iberican pig (Secretos Porco Preto) which is pan fried and considered a delicacy. The total was €34.65

Helt nødvendigt at bestille bord i forvejen.
Virkelig engageret personale med fuld fart på serveringen. Personalet kender deres pladser, opgaver og har blik for gæsterne. Meget fint samarbejde og personalet virkede som om de kunne lide tempoet på serveringen. Og skøn mad.

Locale affollatissimo, amato dai turisti, è consigliabile prenotare. Il servizio è perfetto, organizzatissimi e veloci. Discreta la qualità del cibo, ma onestamente non da ricordare. La cataplana de mariscos conteneva del pesce surgelato, ne abbiamo mangiate certamente di migliori. L'arroz de mariscos ugualmente senza infamia e senza lode.

Let's start with what we ordered. We started with the "fried squid strips" then I ordered the monk fish kebab and my partner, the tenderloin kebab. Both dishes had prawns on the keb and a side cooked potatoes and some shredded cabbage, carrot and a quarter of a raw tomato.
The squid looked and tasted like they were from a freezer bag and came with a side of mayo for dipping. When one is dining on the coast, you would assume that the chef would source out fresh ingredients and cook them in a way that would compliment the food.
The prawns on the kebabs were mushy and overcooked which made sense because they were cooked on the same spit as tenderloin and monk fish (both which required more time than prawns to cook). Again, a little bit of cooking logic would have been useful here.
The salad and potatoes were just bad; flavorless and sloppily prepared. If a chef cannot properly cook potatoes and throw together a simple green salad, he's not worth his weight.
At the end of the day, we were sort of asking for it dining in a heavily touristed area. The restaurant was packed and I'm sure they don't need to worry about quality, over maximizing profit, because they will be full every night regardless.
I gave it 2 stars because the server was nice and we enjoyed the wine. Aside from that, we would have been better off grabbing a donair down the street.

Excellent food at a very fair price . So pleased we found this restaurant. We booked and had the last available table. We enjoyed the food that much that we booked for the next night too.
It is advisable to book if you want to ensure you get a table since being so good the place gets full.

Ben localizzato, in pieno centro e per questo facile da raggiungere.
C'è sempre un po' di attesa ed è consigliato riservare almeno un giorno prima, ma ne vale veramente la pena.

Excelente para apreciar a variedade da comida regional com petiscos e pratos em porções individuais. Os espetos de camarão e as cataplanas são deliciosas. De sobremesa o figo com sorvete. Se não fizer reserva poderá ter que esperar mais de uma hora na fila. O preço é muito barato pelo serviço. Vale muito a pena!

Oubliez votre première impression de restaurant "attrape touriste" au vue de son emplacement et laissez vous tenter par des crabes frais ainsi que du riz aux fruits de mer. La qualité y est irréprochable et les plats sont copieux. Magnifique endroit à ne pas louper !

Muy bien, comida casera abundante y bien elaborada. Pedimos una ensalada de pulpo a compartir y luego atun con tomate y cebolla y bacalao de la casa (en la foto). Como se ve, raciones generosas y muy muy bueno. Conviene no ir muy tarde, pues el turno de comidas es mas bien temprano. Personal muy majo. Tardan algo en servir, quizás por lo elaborado de la comida, pero no importa, bien merece la pena.

Als Tourist ins Restaurant gekommen, aber wie ein Stammkunde behandelt worden. Sehr freundliches Personal und sehr guter Service. Das Essen war liebevoll ausgarniert (sogar mit einer Blüte dekoriert) und schmeckte ausgezeichnet. Gambas, Schwertfisch und der Fisch nach Portugiesischer Art waren absolut frisch und auch die Beilage köstlich.

Wir waren in diesem Restaurant an zwei Abenden und beides Mal haben wir zum Glück reserviert.
Wir hatten verschiedene Vorspeisen und Hauptgerichte wobei die Spieße und das Kaninchen a la Chef besonders zu empfehlen sind.
Der Service ist super nett - das essen ist der Hammer und der Preis ist für diese Leistung relativ gering.
Fazit: Wer gutes Essen mag sollte hier reservieren und sich nicht von der Lage in der Touri Straße ablenken lassen.

This restaurant was recommended by friends and I am glad to say we were not disappointed. The guys had the meat kebabs which were quite spectacular and the girls went for the fish cataplana, superb. We sat outside in the street which made for a wonderful atmosphere. Would highly recommend.

Had dinner there. Have tried three places in this area by this stage. Dreadfully slow service, 45 minutes wait before the starter came, then the main of grilled swordfish was so overcooked that it tasted like chicken breast that had been in the sun for 20 years. Waiter and waitress were rude and the waitress actually walked into me without so much as uttering a sorry.

Very good cooking! We had the best fish in Portugal here — grilled to perfection. Featured newly in the Michelin Guide 2017. The staff were very friendly and nice too. Highly recommended.

The food was fantastic! I had the Perch fillets Algarve style (which is an orange and almond sauce). It was brilliant! Staff were delightful, wine was nice and to top it off a complimentary serving of port! Would definitely come back!

The best of traditional food and the service is outstanding. We had sea food and fish starter and main so we asked them to recommend a wine and they did a good job. I recommend this place to everyone

Amazing food. Went with a party of 5, each person ordered a different plate, all were excellent. We arrived as soon as it opened and less than 30 min later the entire restaurant was full and people were waiting outside. Get there early, make a reservation, or expect to wait.

Not just another tourist restaurant. Yes it's on the main drag but if you're after great food and good service then this place is ideal. Starters are big so you may want to share. Wild boar is rich and gamey, highly recommended. Baby shrimp also very good.

Très bien situé et nourriture excellente. Nous avons pris une "cataplana de marisco" qui était exquise! par contre la clientèle habituelle est plutôt âgé.

My wife and I shared the Seafood Rice for 2 and we were blown away. The pot was full of mussels, clams, prawns(shrimp to the Americans out there), crab and lobster. The rice was perfectly cooked and the sauce/stock was full of flavour and needed no salt. Couldn't understand why there was no one else here when we arrived. Highly, highly recommended.
