Comida saborosa ambiente familiar e informal. É como se estivesse a almoçar na casa da Tia. Recomendo uma visita com calma para poder saborear tudo tranquilamente. Bem hajam pela gentileza com que nos receberam.

Trattoria fuori dagli schemi ma dai sapori eccellenti. Ottima la cataplana ma con attese di circa 50 minuti, la fanno sul momento in una pentola antesignana della pentola a pressione.Il proprietario è un personaggio tutto particolare ma simpaticissimo, prezzi leggermente superiori alla media ed obbligatorio prenotare. Consigliatissimo per una serata diversa e rilassata.

Excellent restaurant à recommander produits frais et de qualité ! cataplana à déguster la longue attente se fait vite oublier !! très bon rapport qualité prix et un accueil chaleureux de la serveuse qui parle très bien le français et qui vous donnera de très bons conseils

Unpretentious, authentic, family-run restaurant with fresh and tasty local food.
Lots of vegetarian options upon request, even gluten-free ones!
The restaurant is located in the historical center of Faro, in a cute house within the walls of the old city.
Make an effort to speak Portuguese to the owners, a sweet Portuguese couple with a strong connection to African food and culture (Angola, Mozambique), and you'll be surprised by the service and human connection!
Best curry I've tasted in Portugal, as my Indian friend said too.

Un lieu historique par rapport à Afonso Henrique III, un repas typique avec une cataplane qui a ravi les papilles. Le patron qui chantonne les Fados... Je recommande vivement. Prix correctes

Good stuff. Was served one of the best meals I’ve had for a long, long time. Don’t ask me about the name of the dish, but it was a stew with monkfish, clams and other seafood served for two in a huge bowl. Salivating just thinking about it.

Fantastic restaurant - authentic portuguese food and family feeling. Small and cosy. Exceptional food! The restaurant is managed by family members, who will treat you like one of them and provides you with everything you wish for. Even sing Fado just for you. We spent lovely evening there and would definitely come back!

We came here because of the great review of this place although I wouldn’t come back again.
Food:
We ordered 3 cokes, couvert and a cataplana. The bill was around €55. It’s not too expensive but I thought it should be cheaper with the food quality.
The cataplana was not great, it was a bit too salty. The monk fish was good, however the tiger praws were not cleaned probably(taste a bit gritty) and it’s definitely not as fresh as it should be for a seafood restaurant with a 4+~ score.
Environment:
If you are looking for fancy place/service, this is definitely not your choice. However if you are looking for something rustic, the you should enjoy it.
The restaurant is owned by two friends and their families. We both find it quite chill and relax until I went to the female toilet. It’s quite disgusting(no soap, drying cloth was broken, the sink was horrible).
Service:
We waited for an hour until the food being served although we did get warned before we ordered so can’t really complain. The waitress was very friendly. So the service wasn’t too bad in general.

Zeer gezellig klein, knus familie restaurant.
Overheerlijke cataplana gegeten. Bijzonder vriendelijk personeel.
Er werd later op de avond Fado gezongen door de gastheer. Mooi gelegen in het oude centrum van Faro, in de stadsmuur gebouwd met 'n historische geschiedenis. Aanrader !!!

Wir sind zufällig an dem Restaurant vorbei gelaufen und sind den positiven Rezensionen auf Google gefolgt. Unsere Erwartungen wurden bei weitem übertroffen! Das Essen war ausgezeichnet, der Fischeintopf war absolut köstlich. Das Ambiente war sehr gemütlich und äußerst familiär. Der Service freundlich und zuvorkommend. Auch die Weinempfehlung war perfekt für das Gericht. Wir können nur jedem Faro-Urlauber empfehlen, hier einzukehren.
Bestimmt kommen wir wieder! 7/5*

Takes a while to get the food but it’s really prepared as you wait not microwaved. Food is delicious, relatively inexpensive. Great small restaurant and the owners and staff are lovely. Can recommend!

With a small entrance and no large windows to peer into, this quaint medieval building is intriguing but can easily be passed by without much notice. I'm glad I took that step into what was to be a wonderful evening. The hospitality shown by our hosts was something to behold, a very genuine and personable interaction, I couldn't have felt more welcome.
For dinner we had a starter of cheese with pickled veg. Very tasty. For main we orders cataplana with cod fish, prawns and clams. We were told it would be 45 mins, I was certainly surprised to hear that, but they let us know upfront and it was well worth the wait. De-lic-ious. They really know how to cook. This is a meal to remember.

Authentic traditional Portuguese cooking. It was an absolutely wonderful experience. Even by the look of the restaurant, I knew it would be a great homely cooking food with no gimmick or fake posh service. We have some cheese and bread with some lovely carrot and garlic pickle. Delightful. The waitress suggested us to have Cataplana with Codfish, Prawn and Clams. It'd take 40 to 45 minutes to cook. We went with it and it's worthy to wait. As it cooked from scratch with fresh seafood so the dish was full of flavours and colours. We was over the moon with it. Cod, Prawns, clams slow cook with onions, bell pepper, tomato and potatoes. What a beautiful dish! Very hearty. Three women working in the restaurant are in a family. Mother, daughter and aunt. They cook their special homemade food and serve guest with their passion. The daughter was so friendly and helpful. She told us so many little stories about the history of the town and the actual premise that we were sitting. Thank you for an unforgettable evening. And the price is so cheap compare to other European countries.

Wir möchten gerne 7 von 5 Punkten geben. Sehr familiär. Die beste Cataplana, die man bekommen kann. Sehr liebevoll zubereitet, alles frisch, daher geht schnell eine Stunde aufs Warten drauf. Dass die Familie an alles denkt sieht man an einem besonderen Detail: Die Weißweingläser kommen aus dem Kühlschrank! So viel Verstand haben wir bei keinem teuren Restaurat gesehen. Wenn der Besitzer dann noch zwischendurch ganzherzig Fado singt, wird auch das härteste Herz weich. Vielen Dank! Mit Umarmungen ging es dann in die Nacht.

Tres bon restaurant! Certe il faut attendre un petit peu pour manger la cataplana (à goûter absolument!!!) mais l'attente en vaut la peine, surtout qu'on peut patienter avec une entrée et un verre de vinho verde, le tout sur air de Fado et la bonne humeur des gérants ;)

Belle ambiance authentique avec des musiques fado tout au long du repas, avec Monsieur qui chante.
Un personnel des plus serviables.
Un lieu typique a découvrir.
Pensez à réserver car peu de place.

The cataplanas was amazing and definitely worth waiting for (preparation takes about an hour, so you might want to plan ahead and make a reservation). I recommend you to order vinho verde and pão as well.

This is a family-run restaurant. Service is... Peculiar! At first sight it may look a bit rude but in reality it's kind and authentic. Risotto with monkfish was really outstanding but I couldn't give 4 stars since we waited 1h20 before being served. We knew from the beginning that risotto takes a lot of time but still...

Comida muito boa. Ambiente familiar e castiço. Cheio de alma. A Anabela e o Joka são pessoas bastante animadas. Espaço pequeno mas bastante acolhedor. Tanto na esplanada como no interior. O menu é o actual. Tapas muito boas.

Después de dos botellas de Albariño (una mientras esperábamos la cataplana de bacalao con gambas y otra mientras la disfrutábamos) todo me parece distinto. El propietario (que es arquitecto natural de Angola) nos habló de Alfonso III y los fenicios, y hasta nos cantó un fado. Todo muy rico. Volveremos.

Love Hampton Court. Good for family's couples or like my latest visit on your own. Different experience each time. Good in all weather's and seasons. If your going to come on a regular basis joint the 6 palaces. This includes the Tower of London, Kensington Palace, Apsley House, Wellingtons arch Banqueting house and A property in Ireland.

We arrived late in the evening....to eat something...the local was located on a historical small street...nice place to be..we ordered a kind of fish soup ...this was very tasty and lot to eat....the local chef was a nice and funny guy.....to recommend.

I'm giving this place only 2 stars because we had to wait more than an hour for our Cataplana (even though there weren't many people at the restaurant) and the dish turned out to be way too salty. Plus, the waiter kept trying to talk us into ordering wine and tapas. We ended up ordering a small glass of porto which he charged 5 euros! (Way too overpriced for the portugese market in my opinion). Also the fado singing was cute at the beginning but after 3 hours we had had enough of it.

Sehr gutes Fischgericht (Cataplan) und extrem freundliche Bedienung. Nicht viel Platz und die Chefin will nicht mehr Gäste als für die Sie kochen kann. Also haben wir 45 min. gewartet und sind Spazieren gegangen. So konnten wir dann sogar den Fischtopf aufessen :-)

We came here because of the good reviews, but we left somewhat disappointed. We waited for more than 1,5 hours for our cataplana which was really long. Luckily, we had ordered some cheese and olives as starters.
The cataplana was okay but very salty. House wine was good for a fair price (15€ per bottle). The service staff was very confused and chaotic, they forgot to bring things. They were friendly to us but seemed a little drunk. For the prices they took, it was not very professional. However, we made ourselves a nice evening, but I believe there are better places to go nearby.

Mooie locatie onder de oude stadspoort. Eigenaar zingt een aardig deuntje fado in de deuropening. Zeer vriendelijke bediening. Sfeer is perfect. We hebben beide vis gegeten. Vers, simpel en lekker eten.

Nous nous sommes enfuis après que la serveuse nous ait annoncé de devoir commander des tapas pour compenser l attente longue de préparation du plat principale pour raison de produits frais. La carte propose des entrées mais obligation de commander un plat principal. Étonnante approche commerciale.

An amazing family restaurant and we really, really enjoyed the home cooked food there! Run by a daughter, a mum, an aunt and uncle, it’s a place full of laughter and good vibes :) if you don’t mind waiting a while for the food, we waited about 15 mins for the calamari and 50 mins for the monkfish and clam rice, it’s truly worth the wait. You can experience the lovely Faro community in this small restaurant as well, great experience!

Amazing experience in this lovely family run little restaurant. The waitresses was beyond lovely, the owner delighting the customers singing fado outloud, the spot extremely charming and finally the cataplana was to die for.

Real good food, worth waiting 45 min. The woman who cooks the delicious food speaks Englisch very well and George who serves the food is also a good singer with a lovely voice. Was very nice to meet these people, they are actually business people who got accidentally into this restaurant. We had a great and inspiring evening with them!

Really home made food - worth waiting 40minutes. Very nice owners. Owner can sing nicely. Owner seems to be around 70 but have such happines of life that in many cases is not experienced by young people.

After already waited for 35 mins today, the cook said she didn’t have one of the ingredients for making our food. Didn’t offer any other options and she even argued that we did not wait for 35 mins - very unprofessional and rude attitude! (I sent a message to my friend right after ordering so I know the time!) It wasn’t busy at all, there were only 2 other tables before us and they only ordered drinks and a cold platter...
Looking at another review on here, I suspect this whole thing happened because we only ordered water instead of wine.

The best meal we had during 2 weeks in Portugal. We had the delicious home-made Cataplana, with a recommended white wine that went perfectly with it. All topped off with a coffee and lovely home-made liqueur. Loved the Fado music and the owner singing along, he has a lovely voice!

Lieu très sympathique. Petit restaurant, atypique . Cuisine locale . très bon !!!! Longue attente mais ça vaut d attendre car plat délicieux!!!!! La cuisinière et son mari très charmant . Je recommande ce resto !!!!!

Food was great. However, waiter talked us into food choice + tapas (15€ without mentioning the price) + drinks. After we already said we wouldn’t want to have wine tonight, he said: ‘She (cook) is only going to prepare your meal if you order wine as well.’

Attention ils ne prennent pas la carte prévoir de l'espèce.
Super restaurant. Plats typiques de fruits de mers excellents!!
Attention aussi les apéritifs proposés sont payants.
Addition 52 euros pour 3.
Et enfin pensez à réserver avant car c'est très petit.
Sinon très bonne adresse à découvrir ;)

Sad but true. After so many good opinions I expected nice evening with good food. Unfortunethly food was not fresh ( cod fish ) and most dish from menu were run out. Waitress behavior was unprofessional and argue with guest all the time. Maybe it was just bad day but it efected mine too.

Abbiamo cenato in questo ristorante famigliare scegliendo la cataplana di baccalà, vongole e scampi, il sapore era assolutamente ottimo superiore agli standard; inoltre il titolare è stato molto gentile spiegandoci la preparazione dei piatti. L'attesa è un po' lunga perché tutto è preparato al momento. Consiglio di prenotare.

Found this gem recently in Faro. Run by a very friendly couple including a lovely older man who sinhs along to the Portuguese love songs being played from inside. You just sit outside and watch the world go by on the cobbled streets as.you drink delicious 'green' wine

Très typique. Mme parle anglais. Mr chante le Fado qui tourne en boucle. Tapas délicieuses. Nous étions les seuls clients ce soir.cuisine sans prétention mais de qualité. Cheminée appréciée en cette mi-février :)

I had cod and rice it was enough for two. The waiter could not sing very well but the younger lady cook could cook. I would come here if you are in Faro. It was almost a 5 stars.

Petit restaurant à l écart de la foule, 3 ou 4 tables sur la devanture. Carte de spécialités locales, très bon rapport qualité prix . Le porc aux palourdes est excellent.

Boa comida, no entanto o atendimento é demorado. Pedimos saladas de atum por ser o mais rápido e apesar de sermos os únicos clientes, foi bastante demorado. Também pedi factura e não foi possivel passá-la tendo fornecido o endereço de email mas até agora não veio...

En voyage au Portugal, nous avons trouvé au hasard de nos pérégrinations ce petit restaurant où nous avons dégusté la meilleure cataplana de notre voyage (poisson pêché par le propriétaire du restaurant et cuisiné par la patronne, tous les deux très sympatiques). C'était un moment fort agréable avec du fado en musique de fond. Génial !!!!.
Nous vous le recommandons.
