Simple, family owned and run, absolutely stunning. Looking for simple, well seasoned, locally sourced produced served with excellent service in a beautifully Portuguese location near the seafront? Well, A do Fernando is your perfect restaurant. A changing selection of fish and meat dishes all cooked in front of you on a BBQ served with delicious sides and very reasonably priced local wine. Perfect perfect perfect.

Fantastic sardines! Lovely family run restaurant. Really friendly. Oh and the house white was great too! Yum.

We had a lovely experience eating in this restaurant. The food was simple but delicious. We got to go and look at what fresh fish was available and you could watch the chef barbequing outside if you wanted to. The staff were friendly and helpful and I was surprised at how reasonable the bill was. We ate out in Olhào everyday for a week and this was the one place I really wanted to return to. The only negative aspect of this review is that the restaurant was unexpectedly closed for a couple of days so we didn't get to go again. Outstanding.

Delicious See Bass with a fresh salad, nice wine, and coffee only for 0,70€. Portions of Tuna Steak are huge, Prawns are fresh, big and nicely done. Service very helpful and quick.

El sitio es tan cutre que tiene un encanto enorme. La cocina (brasas) es muy buena (pescado muy variado y en su punto). La atención de todo el personal también es impecable. La terraza, muy agradable, en una calle estrecha.

Situe dans les petites rues pittoresques de la cité, le restaurant familial propose une cuisine excellente à base de poissons frais grimles au barbecue. C'est simpmement un régal. L'accueil est chaleureux et convivial.

Tremendous flavoured fish and potato. Straight up simple and delicious. The price may catch you out considering how simple the service and decor are, but the flavours are what win the day here.

Unglaublich gute Erfahrung zum Mittagstisch. Der Sohn der Köchin/Eigentümers begrüßte mich freundlich und zeigte mir den frischen Fisch im Nebenzimmer. Auch fragte er mich, wie ich den Kaffee haben wolle. Unfassbar aufmerksam und professionell. Das Brot und besonders die Oliven als Vorspeise waren köstlich. Das Hauptgericht (Thunfischsteak gegrillt) war riesig und mega lecker. Zum Abschluss gab es noch einen regionalen Kuchen (Folar) auf Kosten des Hauses...ich kann nur 5 Sterne geben und bin ganz sicher bald wieder dort! War am folgenden Tag erneut dort...die Red Mullets sind sehr zu empfehlen!

We had the cuttle fish stew which was delicious. Service was speedy and the staff very helpful. A lovely authentic Portugese experience. Very reasonably priced as well.

Alle Gerichte sind begrenzt verfügbar (werden im laufe des Abends von der Karte gestrichen). Alles was wir gegessen haben war sehr frisch. Speisekarte wird jedem persönlich vorgetragen. Absolut empfehlenswert.

Spettacolare...ho mangiato un trancio di salmone che si scioglieva in bocca. Il pesce è esposto ed è possibile vedere cosa ti cucineranno, anche perché la brace è sulla strada del vialetto. Il personale davvero molto gentile e carino. Consiglio vivamente!

We had the lingueirão à bulhão pato (razor clams in a buttery garlic and coriander sauce) to start, and peixe frito (fried fish) and bife de atum (tuna steak) for mains. Everything was delicious and generously served. I highly recommend the razor clams, and get some extra bread to mop up that garlicky buttery goodness.

Fuimos a este sitio en Olhao por indicaciones de un amigo, a juzgar por su aspecto tengo que decir que asusta, es un tanto cutre, pero ya quisieran muchos restaurantes con estrellas michelin ofrecer esta calidad de mariscos y pescados. Platos generosos y unos precios muy atractivos. Los camareros no son precisamente los mejores, pero son correctos, educados y amables. En resumen, un restaurante sin remilgos ni tonterías pero de 5 estrellas

We discovered A do Fernando based on the recommendation of our host in the nearby boutique hotel we stayed at. We went backwards and forwards a few times around it and weren't sure if it is the right place or if it is even open as there was nobody sitting at any of the tables. We went and got some cash as it is a cash only place and thought of giving it a try. We've been pleasantly surprised by other unpretentious restaurants before. As soon as we e sat down, our lovely waiter brought the menu (it's a large board with the menu in chalk) and very patiently walked us through the entrées and mains. He couldn't stress enough the freshness of their products and the fact that the fish is not frozen, it's bought from the local fish market. We got anchovies, sardines and a fish we never tried before, robalo. The service was very fast. Even though I read other reviews saying that it can be a bit slow, we got our mains in half an hour max. The fun begins. The mains were so attentively prepared... Who files sardines fresh sardines?? Just yummy. Then the mains: my sardines were fresh and tasty and not too oily or too salty. They were just right. The star of the meal was the robalo. Never had this type of fish before and can definitely say its amongst my favourite. The meat is sweet, it doesn't have too many bones and when it's grilled in open air and has a bit of garlic, not too much olive oil and some sea salt... You can't go wrong with it. After the meal I understood why our waiter was emphasising so much on how fresh the fish is; you could definitely taste it. And if you have fresh and quality ingredients, the meal will be a success. The price was more than reasonable. Adding also two beers to the above, we paid less than 35£. We've tried a few other fancier places around, but the food quality and service couldn't hold a candle to this place. We also found out that it's a family business and it's been in the family for roughly 30 years and the entire family is working in the restaurant. Which I have to admit touched a soft spot... I can't recommend this place enough. If there were 10 stars as rating, I would give them 10 stars. Guys and ladies from the restaurant, if you read this, you are doing a great job! Keep it up!

Amazing little place. Excellent food. All of it really! The seafood and the fish couldn’t be fresher and its cooked next to you. Its a family run restaurant, so you get to interact with pretty much the whole family and the whole experience is spectacular. Kid friendly. We will definitely be coming back!

O he tenido mala suerte o no entiendo la puntuación que tiene este local. Primero es una tasca mala que está en una callejuela, instalaciones bastante mediocres. La comida guisan bien pero excaso en carne, pescado, mucha patata frita y ensalada en el mismo plato. No se puede tener precios de restaurante siendo una tasca. Bien , debido al comentario de los propietarios le bajo una estrella por su servicio y contestación y aclaro no llegué a su local de casualidad sino que fui a propósito por su puntuación, la mala suerte que digo es por si ese día no había sido normal, a la hora de elegir un restaurante me da igual el sitio y el precio, prefiero un sitio con una buena relación calidad-precio. SU CONTESTACIÓN REFLEJA EL SERVICIO Y EL LOCAL.

Trata-se de uma tasca de aspecto rudimentar. O wc merecia ser melhorado Os funcionários são muito simpaticos e a comida é excelente. É do tipo de local que investem na qualidade da comida em detrimento do resto. Enquanto for assim tem muita clientela e boa cotação. Tem que chegar cedo caso contrário tem que esperar. Recomendo.

Ich bin nicht unfassbar angetan von dem Lokal, wie die meisten Bewerter. Wir hatten den Lachs und den Thunfisch. Gegrillt wirkte beides nicht, zumindest was Röstaromen angeht. Die Zusammensetzung war mit Beilagensalat und Kartoffeln bei beiden Gerichten gleich und einfallslos. Alles war mit Olivenöl, Knobi und Koriander beträufelt. Der Thunfisch war durch und nicht roh in der Mitte. Schade. Der Lachs war okay. Wir saßen draußen und die Gasse macht einiges her. Das Interieur des Lokals eher weniger. Standard Tische mit Papierdecken von einem Sponsor wirken eher billig. Meine Frau fand es gemütlich und stimmig für die Gegend. Beide Gerichte waren mit 13 Euro für die Gegend im normalen Preissegment. Ich würde hier nicht nochmal essen und lieber ein anderes Lokal probieren.

This restaurant is just perfect, I would come back to Olhão because of this restaurant (and we did). Just perfectly cooked (freshest) fish, genuine and warm family, at a very reasonable price. Honestly please don’t miss this place.

This place is amazing. This is a family run restaurant. Dad is on the grill, mom, son and brother is serving and tending to customers. The portion is plenty and the price is more than reasonable. The family does a great job. Even though the place is small the quality is huge. If there is an open seat, sit down, you wont regret it. For us, two fish meals, 4 glasses of wine, bottle of water under 50€.......what a deal!!!!!! Thanks again for the great service.

Podia e devia ser menos salgado no preço

Típico lugar de pescadores situado en una callejuela pero donde se come muy bien a precio razonable. Por ejemplo sardinas a la bras, pollo asado, melon, botella grande de agua y una copa de vino por 21 €. El personal es muy amable y el sitio aunque parece cutre está limpio y su comida está muy buena.

Um restaurante familiar, com comida grelhada na brasa na altura. Peixe fresco de boa qualidade. Os donos são muito simpáticos e o serviço é rápido. Ementa original, boa para quem tem falta de vista ;-)

Good seafood. Fresh fish. You can actually chose the very fish you want among a great variety of sea creatures. Small family driven restaurant where the father of the house grills the fish on his BBQ grill in the narrow alley where the tiny spot is located. The son and his girlfriend waits tables. The mother is in cherge of the kitchen. Authentic home style cooking and delicious. Descent prices.

Une jolie ruelle juste a l'écart pour un peu de calme. Très joli cadre pour un petit restaurant familial sympathique. Mais probablement à court de produits, nous avons attendu 1 heure entre la commande et le service. La quantité et la qualité des produits sont là, mais le manque de cuisson et d'assaisonnement ont rendu le repas plutôt quelconque.

Tout petit restaurant typiquement portugais où l'on peut manger sur place ou emporter son plat. Si on ne connaît pas le portugais, pas de problème : la serveuse vous emmène aux fourneaux (qui sont dans la salle) et soulève les couvercles des cocottes. Poulet grillé et cosido excellents et très copieux. Prix imbattables.
