My boyfriend booked Casa de cha to celebrate my birthday upon recommendation by my friend. It was truly an experience. The restaurant used to be a tea house, the building is built on rocks just above the sea, designed by Álvaro Siza Vieira. The atmosphere in the restaurant is amazing, perfect temperature, light music and very smoothing. We were sat facing the sea. The food and service are as you expected from a Michelin restaurant, top notch. We had a lovely time there. (We had the 12 courses, perfect as lunch)

My fiancée and I went here to celebrate our engagement and had the best evening. The food was fabulous, the setting out of this world and the service second to none. Absolutely recommend this to anyone, worth every penny.

Tanto la localización, el diseño, la decoración, el menú y el servicio convierten este restaurante en toda una experiencia, como ellos dicen, de "momentos". El ambiente es relajante y muy agradable. La atención de todo el personal es increíble, siempre pendientes de que todo esté a tu gusto, tanto es así que, en uno de los platos me deje más de la mitad, no por malo sino por no ser uno de mis favoritos y casi sin darme cuenta, en segundos, estaba junto a mi el responsable del restaurante preguntándome si había algún problema con el plato o, simplemente, me hacian otro que fuera de mi agrado. Obviamente, le habian avisado de que algo no me satisfacía. Ofrecen un menú con veintiún platos (tambien opción vegetariana...exquisita!!) con tres posibilidades, menú completo con los 21 "Cantos", medio con 12 ó reducido con 6. Todos los platos están basados en la tierra y el mar, con pescado, mariscos y verduras con los que, el chef Rui Paula, juega con colores, sabores y texturas. Una velada que queda en la memoria.

It was a magical experience. It was worth going Porto just to visit this restaurant. I think this place should get at least 2 Michelin stars. Everything was perfect : the scenery, the service and the cuisine. Of course, don’t forget the masterpiece of Alvaro Siza. I really want to visit this restaurant again someday.

This restaurant is a must in Porto for those appreciating gastronomy. The creativity of the chef is extraordinary, based on his childhood souvenirs. You must go there. Useful note: I have been there 2 days ago, menu changes every 3 months - the Michelin notation 1 star is an absurdity - it is worth 3, 1 menu 12 or 21 dishes, 12 is enough, Choose the formula with the wines, you will have the surprise to discover the finest Portuguese wines.

Maybe the only Michelin starred restaurant that asks you for money in advance (100 euros) if you wanna book a table...im wondering if Michelin guys are even aware of such idiotic practice? I don’t think so cus after 20 years traveling around the world and visiting so many starred Michelin restaurants this was with no doubts the first time ive faced this pathetic request.

There's enough written on how beautiful the architecture, the location, the food, etc all is, but no worthwhile mention of the fact that there's a brilliant 7 course veg tasting menu as well, which is usually not too easy to find in a Michelin star restaurant. My wife's vegetarian and she absolutely loved it (eats egg and cheese though, no meats) - we had highlighted this to the staff via email when we had booked and they were VERY accommodating.
I had the Atlantic tasting menu and it was superb as expected. The service was wonderful and that's what sets any experience apart.
I'd highly recommend a booking here - it's the overall ambience and the great food which is a winning combination!

Arquitectura excelente, se mimetiza muy bien con el entorno. Gran obra de Álvaro Siza en la que se nota que se ha cuidado cada detalle. Un lugar con encanto. Merece la pena ir a visitarla. No muy lejos de allí, se encuentran unas piscinas junto al mar realizadas por el mismo arquitecto.

This works of Siza reminds me those of Frank Lloyd Wright. The food is delicate and full of surprise, though with a higher price (~100euro per person). You shall go by car as it is quite far from public transport.

I arrived in Casa de Chá a bit by coincidence as it is not the closest to Porto, you need a 25-30 min drive to reach it. From the outside, the house is very discreet, lying right next to a chapel facing the see, giving you a spectacular sunset view, therefore it is nice to go early and start your dinner with sundowner drink on their exclusive terrace. If you stay for dinner, request a table in the right side if the weather is warm, you will be eating with open windows. If the weather is fresh, the room on the left side is to bd preferred. The interior design is of the late 80ies but makes it today look vintage-hip. I selected the Atlantic menu (fish) and was from the start positively surprised. The first ‘amuse bouche’ is a real chest of wonders. The level of detail of each plate is impressive and there is a minimum combination of 3-4 dominant flavors (if not more) for each plate. The level of work and detail combined to natural, tasty food makes it a highly recommended destination and a great culinary experience. The menus are well proportioned and balanced, you will come out with a slight impression of hunger, which means the servings for 7 plate & extras menu is right. The wine list is impressive and you will find an extensive selection of local as well international wines. I would recommend to select a wine of your choice, as the glass per course option is offered, however some of the Portuguese wines proposed do not match the level of the courses. It’s better you select 1-2 whites for the starters, followed by an excellent Portuguese or international wine for the mains. Attached are some pictures of the setting as well the courses. The prices are fair and very competitive compared to other European 1-Star Michelin restaurants. Certainly one of the best tables in Porto and a wonderful setting & view on the Atlantic.

Restaurante lindíssimo mesmo em cima da água, apoiado em rochedos. O espaço em si é um monumento classificado, o que por si só já é excelente.
O staff é extremamente simpático e atencioso, gostamos muito e marcaram a experiência pela positiva.
A comida é fantástica e realmente uma experiência diferente e única. Recomendo vivamente aos fãs de gastronomia!

A must see for anyone interested in the work of Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza. Do not be put off by the landward view of highway and industrial infrastructure. The tea house location along the Oceano Atlantico is superb. This building really does look fabulous from any direction. Often mentioned, and justifiably, as one of Siza's best projects.

We had the 21 course standard (Atlantic)a vegetarian menus. The food was utterly brilliant and the setting is just stunning. I can't believe only has 1 Michelin Star. I've eaten at 2 and 3 Star restaurants and this place matches or surpasses most of them.
Do yourself a favour and book in for a meal here. Make some memories.

Fantastic meal
We visited for the 21 course menu and generally the experience was superb. Wine pairing was very good as well. Only the desserts were somewhat weaker, pointing to the possible lack of a confectioner. The location and view is impeccable.

Si visitáis Oporto os recomiendo totalmente este lugar. Una experiencia única, este restaurante no deja indiferente a nadie. Platos súper elaborados, entorno maravilloso, arquitectura mágica y atención impecable. Para reservar mesa te solicitan un depósito de 100€, se informan sobre posibles alergias así como el motivo de la visita al restaurante (en nuestro caso al ser luna de miel nos prepararon un detalle). La degustación puede constar de 6, 12 o 21 platos...nosotros nos decantamos por 12 y fue suficiente. Hago hincapié en que se trata de una degustación, platos muy pequeños pero intensos, no obstante merece la pena, el precio medio por persona es de unos 150€. El chef Rui Paula interactuó con todos los clientes y se preocupó de que todo fuera de nuestro agrado.

Um lugar especial, feito por gente especial a pensar em gente especial. Pratos muitos bem confecionados e misturas de sabores brutais. Preços proibitivos para o nível do Português comum. Contudo valores ajustados à complexidade da confeção, local e serviço. Serviço muito bom e funcionários bem formados. Uma experiência que vale a pena.

We have been to a number of Michelin restaurants in London and around Cambridge, and many good restaurants around the world. This remains far and away my favourite restaurant on earth to date. Quality but friendly service. Amazing food. Quintessentially Portuguese in all the very best ways. On top of that a fabulous building in an amazing location. If you only eat in one "fine dining" restaurant in your life, and it is this restaurant, you have probably done pretty well.
Worth noting, they cannot take tips by card, so please take some cash, they will have deserved it.

I am not an old person nor have I been to any other Michelin star restaurants in my life. But this was the best meal of my life so far. Housed in one of Alvaro Siza's first buildings, as an architect and food lover, it was an experience to remember. Service was impeccable but friendly and approachable. No need to dress for a gala, but a nice summer dress for the ladies and a button shirt for men won't hurt. No beach sandals is their only policy. Make reservations to be seated before sunset. You will not regret or forget it!

En temps qu'étudiant en architecture j'ai été bluffé par le génie de l'architecte Alvaro Siza. Le cadre du bâtiment est juste incroyable, Siza nous replonge dans une architecture moderne intemporelle rendant hommage à magnifique décors environnant. À voir absolument.

A symphony of natural beauty, marvelously creative food, and impeccable service. The woman who helped us throughout the evening was unpretentious and quirky, the food was incentive, and the location is unbeatable. You know when you are coming here you are not going to be walking away without spending quite a bit, but as tasting menus go at Michelin restaurants, this was not unreasonable and worth every penny. It is a bit of a trek outside of downtown Porto, but the coastline views are stunning. I recommend coming at 7:30, so you can enjoy the ocean views while it is light. Making a reservation here late when it is dark would be losing a crucial element of what makes this place truly one in a million.

One of the best (if not the best) meals of my life. Rare in life to get perfect ambience and perfect gastronomy but it all came together with incredible precision and excellence. My wife not very into seafood but they customized the menu to her preferences without any attitude. Just incredible. A tragedy if you come to Portugal and don't experience this culinary example of expertise.
Oh and by the way we had a personal sommelier that customized a wine pairing to each course perfectly. Incredible all the way around.

Cenamos el menu boa nova, y fue una experiencia inolvidable. La atencion correctisima, amables y comentaban cada uno de los platos. Ofrecen tres tipos de menu y una carta clasica con platos para compartir.
Ofrecen varios tipos de bocaditos super elaborados antes de dar cominzo al festin de la cena. Incluyen visita a la cocina. Impresionante el numero de cocineros, su concentracion y limpieza. Vale la pena el viaje desde Porto. Recomiendo llegar un buen rato antes del anochecer y disfrutar la vista y la visita a una casa increible del arquitecto Alvaro Siza..

O local e a arquitetura da casa são fantásticos. Nos faltam palavras para descrever a beleza do todo.
Que alívio foi o nosso ao nos darmos contas que o nível da cozinha e dos profissionais de sala do sr. Rui Paula fazem mais do que jus à esse local histórico e único.
Assim como estamos mais do que conscientes do privilégio que tivemos de ter podido lá desfrutar de um jantar no início deste mês de agôsto.

Belíssima localização sobre as rochas da Boa Nova... Ideal para levar a sua cara metade a beber um chá nos dias limpos de Inverno pela hora do pôr de sol. As cores que se formam sobre o mar, a bravura das ondas a bater nas roças e os barcos a entrar no Porto de Leixões. Irresistivel
