We were a group of 6 enjoying the Vintage Food Tour. Both my boyfriend and I loved this way of experiencing Porto. We have never been to Porto and this felt like a great way for us to discover the beauty of the city. We learned not only about the typical Porto food & wine but also about the history of the city and the development of the city over the past couple years. Sergej was very knowledgable and easy to approach. Since we were 3 couples at about the same age, it was easy to start nice conversations throughout the tour. All in all, we can highly recommend the tour!

We have just enjoyed a fabulous walking food tour with Rita. Her infectious love of her home city and knowledge of history made her a joy to be with. The variety of foods and accompanied wines were enjoyed by all and her descriptions at each stop were sprinkled with fascinating anecdotes - all adding to the experience. Great way to see parts of the City and to visit places we would never otherwise have seen.

We just had the most wonderful experience with Taste Porto! Our excellent guide for the Vintage Tour was Maria. She was so knowledgeable about the history, culture, wine and food of Porto, and was also a joy to spend time with. This would be a good first thing to do when you get to Porto as you will know the best places to eat and drink and enjoy yourself while here. Obrigada, Maria!

My partner and I recently went on Taste Porto's newest tour, focused on the growing Portuguese craft brewing scene. The beer was plentiful—there were multiple stops with multiple kinds of beer at each stop—and it was eye-opening to see (and taste!) all the different kinds of beer you can get from inside Portugal these days. The food it was paired with was all delicious and gave us the energy we needed to head to the next stop. André was super knowledgeable about the history of beer and so much more in Porto and Portugal in general.
Make sure you wear comfortable shoes for walking, stay hydrated (not *just* with the beer), and don't eat too much before joining the group! The tour took around 3.5-4 hours (we may have drawn it out a little longer than expected because we were part of a group of friends), and it was an afternoon->evening well spent!

We had a fantastic time on this tour. Maria was funny and incredibly knowledgeable about all things food and wine. And culture and history. What a great way to start our vacatation - learning about Porto's history and culture through food. We wnt all through the city center, sampling cheeses, fish, coffee, sausages, ham, desserts, wine, port... Don't eat breakfast before you start! Moo

Great tour with amazing artisanal beer - can't even begin to describe the different types of beers they offer. The guide André was extremely knowledgeable about what is happening in the beer scene as well as some interesting history point on beer production in Porto. Who knew!
Would definitely recommend trying out this tour if you're a beer lover - they even pair it with some great local food!

I did the new craft beer tour. Highly recommended for great beer and cool bars. There was good food along the way as well. The tour guide was fun and informative and there was a nice crowd doing it as well. Cheers!

Outstanding food tour! Our knowledgeable guide Sergio took us on a culinary journey of Porto including traditional pastry, seafood, tapas, dessert and wines. You'll get a glimpse of history through food and leave with a full belly as well as a deeper understanding of Portuguese culture.

We did the tour yesterday with Sergio. We had appreciated a lot because Sergio loves his city and country and he shared with us his knowledge about food, traditions, history and the particularities of each restaurant that we visited. It’s interesting to taste different wines and food and how together they do a nice mix. We ate authentic food; it was delicious. It has been a nice experience, the best tour we have had.

We took the Vintage Food tour this week and we absolutely loved it! Joana was our guide and she did an outstanding job. She was enthusiastic, informative and made the whole experience so much fun. This tour is a fantastic way to learn about Porto culture and history while tasting local food (and wine, and Port). The Port tasting at the end at a small wine shop was awesome. The only thing we regret is not having time to also take the Downtown tour! Thank you!

Top notch tour! I did the Downtown Food Tour with Andre and Sofia and could not be happier. So much knowledge and enthusiasm for the food and history of Porto. The destinations and food are wonderful. André is like the mayor of the food market. I highly recommend!

The vintage food tour is stellar! Maria, our guide, is so passionate about Porto and does a great job educating about the city, it’s history, it’s food and it’s wine. The tour includes appropriately sized portions of really tasty traditional bites. It’s interspersed with walking in between stops, which is nice for allowing your food (and drink!) to digest. We went into places we would never have found on our own. This was one of the best food tours we’ve been on-highly recommended!

We did the vintage food tour with André and it was fabulous. André is funny, charismatic, and the perfect guide for Porto. We learned about history, architecture, and the basis of Portuguese gastronomy. There was a ton of alcohol, salt, sugar, cured and canned stuff, and all of it was top quality and delicious! I went back to two of the places the next day, and all in all this was one of the best experiences we had in Porto.

We went on the Vintage Food Tour this Wednesday and I can’t possibly say enough good things to convey the beauty of this experience! Our guide, Sergio, was so knowledgeable and passionate about all the food and wine, and encouraged and answered all our questions. The variety and pacing of the tour itself was wonderful: the couple of sweeter stops were interspersed with savory, and fish vs. other meat/bread/whatnot were alternated, and each stop had enough time to eat and drink at a comfortable pace so that no moment felt either rushed or empty. The walking in between cleanses your palate and readies you to eat again, as well as showing off lovely little bits of the city.
For reference, we tried 6 different wines (3 of them Port), 3 meat dishes, 3 fish dishes, 3 pastries, and a cheese, some chocolate and some coffee over the course of 7 stops. All were high-quality foodstuffs, and all came from places off the beaten tourist path– in most of the locations, our group was the only table of tourists in the whole place.
I can’t think of a better way for a newcomer to Porto (and Portugal itself) to get an introduction to the cuisine and culture of this city and region, the way the locals see it. Taste Porto is a delicious and welcoming experience that I most highly recommend!

We took Vintage Food Tour and are sad to say that this was the worst food tour we have had. We had a guide who seemed not very enthusiastic about the tour and we found him rather boring. I didn't honestly find any of the food I tasted was great and the amount served was not enough. My self and my husband left the tour feeling hungry. The tour was not worth the money, 70 euro per person. One thing that was great was the port wine tasting at the end.

I’ve done both the Vintage and Downtown tours. Both are excellent. During the tour, the mix between food variety, history covered, architecture, and walking is perfect. Maria and Andre are amazing hosts. They each were so welcoming and accommodating of everyone. I especially appreciate how they’ve both were able to help recommend restaurants, port lodges, Douro Valley tips and anything I could think of. They really treat you like a friend with local insights. Highly recommended.

This was a great tour – our guide Miguel was great, took us to exactly the right mix of places and for some great food (I would head back to Porto for *that* sandwich alone!)
If you’ve got a few days there, I’d recommend taking it in on the first day, as you’ll almost certainly want to revisit some of the places you’re shown on the tour.

A delightful morning exploring the culture of Porto through its food and wine. From the first bite to the last drop of Port, I felt that I knew Porto just a little better. Every step of the way, each detail of where we were going, what we were going to eat (or drink) was artfully taken care of. We were even given a pocket size brochure if all the stops, including a map, in case we might want to go back. Taste Porto was a wonder experience and our guide, André, an exemplary host of his city. We massively enjoyed our Downtown Food Tour. Our guide, Gregorio, was great and showed us the real Porto and told us stories of the city and food respectively. Would recommend this food tour highly if you love food, culture and a drop of alcohol!

My husband and I did this tour on our first day in Porto during our honeymoon. Both of us have visited local breweries in our home, and decided it might be fun to experience the brewery culture in Portugal. We are so glad that we did!! First, Andre was excellent! He met us promptly at the arrival time and greeted us with a beer and a smile. It was just us on the tour, so we got to ask a ton of questions and learn so much. The craft beer culture in Porto is new, but thriving! We went to 4 locations and tried 2-3 beers at each place. In addition to the tasty brews, we were also provided with traditional Porto cuisine! It was honestly one of our favorite nights in Porto! We got to walk the city and hear about the rich cultural history as well. Highly recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys food and/or beer!

Make sure you ask for Miguel. Don’t come to Porto without booking this food tour. One of the best ways to experience the city. So much to learn so much to taste and drink. Great memories!!! If you get Miguel, tell him Bobby sent you and that he rocks!

My husband and I were lucky enough to book the Downtown Porto Food Tour with Gergorio on a night where no one else was booked so we essentially had a private tour. Not only was Gregorio an excellent wealth of knowledge but he made the tour personalized, fun and had answers to all of our questions- to include resturant and activity recommendations.
Each food item and location was thoughtful, delicious and Gergorio did a great job helping to explain what made that place and dish unique and special.
We could not recommend Gregorio and the Downtown Porto Food Tour more for anyone looking to get an authentic taste of this amazing city and culture.

I did a second tour on 2 Oct 2019: Its is the second time I have done a Taste of Porto tour - the first w Andre on City Tour and this time w Maria on the Vintage Tour. Maria is extremely professional, friendly and knowledgeable - and can hold her own when explaining architecture, history, culinary and viticulture against the hustle and bustle of busy Porto streets. Each of the stops we made was an experience until itself. Delicious food, drink and of course Port Wine and regional white, rose and red wines. Altogether and excellent experience. Obrigado Maria.

¿Quién le fue a dar menos de 5 estrellas ? Este tour está super padre :) Creo que sólo faltó una pequeña intervención musical para decir que este tour va dirigido a todos los sentidos. Desde el principio fue un tour donde nuestra guía se tomó el tiempo para conocer a todos un poquito. Muy buena onda; hizo el tour mucho más ameno y lindo. La caminata no es tan hardcore y al final acabas satisfecho pero no super lleno. Estrellita para mi amiga que reservo el tour.
Ojo: Si eres veggie o la carne no es lo tuyo, pues... probablemente te perderás de cosas muy típicas (y buenas). Sin embargo, hay opciones para ti ;)

I highly recommend this tour. We did it our first day in Porto and it really gave us the lay of the land. All the food we tried was amazing and very unique to Porto which is what we wanted. They also provided us a map of all the places we went to and some they recommended and we ended up using that while we were in Porto. I would definitely do another tour with this company and recommend them to family and friends.

After the tour our tour guide gave us very helpful recommendations for both food places and other places to check out that we were interested in. Really good local tips. We did the Vintage food tour which ended with a delicious local port tasting. Highly recommend.

One of the best city tours I’ve taken, besides an intro to food it is a natural guide to the Porto way of life and recent and ancient history. After the tour ended they were still incredibly helpful making recommendations and even reservations for us. Well worth the time and money, an excellent way to orient yourself in the city on the first day.

I did the Craft Beer & Bites Tour with a friend and it was very pleasant. Nice walk around Porto with a knowledgeable guide talking about the city and also the craft beer scene in the region. We visited 'Fábrica da Picaria', 'Catraio', 'Colossus', and 'Armazem da Cerveja'. We had around 11 different beers and plenty of food to go with it. I would advise you not to eat beforehand because you'll need some space in your belly to enjoy all the food as well. If you like craft beer, go for it!

Sergio did an excellent job in shepherding the “herding cats” group around, and was much more knowledgable about Porto than just the food and restaurants.
My only suggestion would be to make the meeting spot location directions a little clearer. There are two metro accesses and the new balance store has a long front to it. Perhaps “and adjacent to the old markets currently under construction” could be added. It was clear tour members did not all know where to go.

Wonderful tour! The route, the food, the stores in which we stopped...and especially our guide Sergio - all made this a very, very special afternoon. Can not recommend highly enough...but if you're on the afternoon tour, be sure to have a light lunch because there's a lot of truly delicious food coming your way.

We took up the late afternoon Vintage Tour and had a great, informative walk around Porto's historical area. We were only two on the tour, which made for an even friendlier experience with Sergio, the tour leader, but he has the personality, knowledge and enthusiasm to inspire a larger group. It was an excellent ramble with stops at traditional stores, a modern restaurant, a wine store etc with generous tastings at each one. Very glad we went.

A must do....preferably on your first day! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the Vintage Porto Food Tour with our guide André. He is so passionate about the local food, wine and culture and this is all entwined into his tour. We tasted many different specialities of the local food and wine, in very different and eclectic venues. We also got an idea of what is available in the city and recommandations on where to eat......great local knowledge and enthusiasm.

Do yourself a favor and let this be one of the first things you do when you arrive in Porto. The tour quickly got my wife and I acquainted with Porto's cuisine and culture along with the art and architecture. We then became very familiar with the city to continue exploring on our own more efficiently. We did the Vintage Food Tour where we got to sample a variety of regional specialty foods, traditional plates in contemporary settings, and variety of Portugal's wines. I would do this again and try one of the other tours. You're in for a good time if you get Andre as your guide. His love for the city is clear as well as the passion for what he introduced us to.

If you have a half a day spare when visiting Porto and enjoy food, wine and walking then Porto food Tours is an excellent way to spend that time.
Don’t eat too much before you start and be sure not to be driving straight after as you will have plenty to eat and drink as you sample your way around the historic centre of the town, incorporating markets, deli’s, cafès, restaurants and drinking establishments.
Our guide Andreas (I hope I have remembered his name correctly) was entertaining, knowledgable and extremely enthusiastic about his home town and its culinary and viticultural history, taking in 7 food and wine stops we sampled dishes that are part of Porto’s history and developing foodie scene.
It rained a little whilst we were out and about but that made no difference to this gastronomic journey. We visited businesses that had been around for over 100 years and new ones which were bringing back old traditions combined with the modern desire for food that is local and organic. Andreas was also very knowledgeable about the history of the town and was passionate about linking the history to the food traditions we tasted and observed.

Took the Downtown Vintage Tour on 7 November with Sergei. The stated objective of this tour was to provide exposure to and a representation of local foods as experienced more by locals than tourists. The objective was for the most part met. Sergei was an energetic and knowledgeable guide, encouraging questions about food, wine and local culture.
The tasting stops were experienced in order of walking across town rather than in a tasting menu order, so bread and cheese was followed by chocolate and coffee, followed by sardines and wine, on to patanisca and sausage with wine, followed by a port tasting, then a pastry shop and all ending with cured pork sandwiches with fizzy farmer wine. The food itself was all pretty good, in expected tasting portions; if you take a later afternoon tour you probably won't need dinner and an earlier tour is definitely going to be a decent lunch. The paired wines were all great and excellent information was provided about them.
We asked Sergei for a dining recommendation for the next night and not only did he have a recommendation but he called and made a reservation for us. Very thoughtful. BTW: Flor dos Congregados was the culinary highlight of our time in both Porto and Lisbon. Taste Porto delivers.
Note: The port tasting (flight of 3 ports) was an "add-on" stop and evidently meant to be the last of the tour (which would be natural) but the shop was closing early so the order changed. This did cause us to feel rushed at this location to sample the ports quickly and move on to keep the schedule, but really that is a bit outside of the control of the tour guide or company so only a side mention and not affecting the overall rating.

Do you love food and history? Then you must sign up for the Taste of Porto Food Tour. It was an absolutely amazing experience!!! Andres our guide was an awesome host and a great representative of the city of Porto. Even though it was the first time meeting him, it felt like meeting an old friend. You can tell he has a true love for the city and the people. He took us on a journey through the streets of Porto with each stop having an amazing treat waiting for us. Each stop not only had delicious food but a lesson on the culture and history of the people of Porto. You can tell how much food is important to Porto as every dish has so much care and love put into it and it comes out in each bite that you savor. We even decided to have dinner later that night at one of the food tours stops (Tasco), and Andres set it up for us. If you have not fallen in love with Porto yet, this food tour will. Sergio is a great guide with lots of knowledge about the local food and drinks. Also he knows a lot about the city of Porto! He even gave us an inside tip on where to get the best (and cheap) grilled chicken in the city. Thanks Sergio!

This was a real highlight of our city break in Porto. We went on the "Downtown" tour and the guide was really knowledgeable and engaging. We had the opportunity to try new foods and wine and learn so much about Porto, its people and its culture. Definitely good value for money and I would strongly recommend making time to go on this tour.

We did this tour with Serge and 5 other English speakers. It was great fun and the food was tasty. Good value too. Besides learning about different Portuguese foods, we got to learn our way around Porto which was helpful for the rest of our stay. A great way to introduce yourself to the city.

I had the distinct pleasure of joining Taste Porto for 2 tours this week, and both were fantastic in their own way. Joana was my host for Downtown and she was terrific - energetic, enthusiastic and a super well-informed ambassador for her hometown of Porto. It was a big group of 9 participants but still felt intimate and small-scale - a testament to her skills as a guide.
Next up today was an equally enjoyable Vintage tour with Andre, unique because it was a tour group of one - me! Still it made no difference at all to Andre who was as committed to ensuring an awesome tour as if he had a full group on his hands. If you have the time I'd suggest both outings - and the earlier during your stay, the better. You will come away with so many insider tips for dining, shopping and exploring Porto that you'll want time to take advantage!
A final note - I can't thank Andre enough for offering to make reservations for me at 3 separate highly recommended restaurants for my final 3 nights in town, all within steps of my apartment. This was completely unbidden on my part, he was just so enthusiastic about making sure my stay in Porto was enjoyable. I never expected that kind of help from a food tour operator but it's a clear demonstration that Taste Porto is best in class at what they do. I can't recommend them highly enough.

We booked this tour based on the very good reviews here and on TripAdvisor and we weren't disappointed. Andre was a terrific guide who not only took us to some amazing places for food but was also extremely knowledgeable about Porto, it's history and social context. His love for the city and it's gastronomy came shining through and made the whole experience really interesting and worthwhile.
The food stops were varied and were places that we wouldn't have found on our own. We sampled a huge variety of different regional foods and wines and learned about how the food culture of the city and the region grew over time to what it is today.
We would totally recommend this tour.

An exceptional experience of visiting both traditional and hidden establishments in Porto. Sergio was passionate, knowledgeable and articulate. We experienced several wines and port, sardines, eclairs, cheeses and meats and olive oil and coffee and more! Refrain from eating before embarking on this tour.

Quite disappointed with the tour really. It's fairly expensive and the food of average to good (at best) quality. The main issue is that the tour isn't particularly varied - very sweet and pastry heavy. You start with pastry, next tinned sardines (with sweet wine and bread), a meat sandwich, another pastry and then sausage and cheeses with wine. Overall, it's ok but not worth the money. You'd be better spending it in a nice restaurant, of which there are plenty in the city.

We loved this tour! Although pricey we think for the amount of food you taste, both savoury and sweet plus all the wine and the knowledgeable guide you really get good value for money. I recommend you join one of these tours early on in your stay of Porto so you have a chance to try out all the local eating tips you gain as you wander around the city. Money well spent.

this is an excellent value for money tour, our guide Sergei was really friendly and well informed, answered all of our questions and made it an enjoyable afternoon.
all the places we visited had really good friendly owners that where happy to have a quick chat.
the food was great, we had a really good group too that where great and made the experience even better.
would recommend without hesitation.

Unbelievably amazing food tour today. It was absolutely exceptionally thought out with great food paced out over 3.5 hours. The food and wine selections was of the highest quality and I was so stuffed by the time we finished and I think that's a good sign for a food tour. The tour guide was amazing she was very funny, entertaining with lots of cool stories about the city.

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour and would highly recommend it to everyone who goes to Porto. It's a great introduction to the city, a good way to orientate yourself and great for getting tips on more delicious places to eat and drink during the rest of your stay. And great for shopping for nice food and wines to take home too.
Andre was a friendly, helpful and insightful guide who is truly passionate about Porto and food! You get plenty of different food and drink on this tour so come hungry. We thought it was also good value for money. The tour lasted about 3.5 hours. The places he took us to were interesting and we probably would not have found them or gone to them ourselves otherwise. It's not a tour of Portuguese staples such as pastais de nata and bacalhau, you get to try more unusual and tasty dishes (but I recommend eating those too!).
If food tours are as good as this in all cities, they will be top of my list of things to do when I go on holiday.

I went on the tour on July 26 and it was wonderful. Our guide was super an knew how to make our group gel immediately. Every stop was delicious! The food demonstrated Portugal's gormet cuisine. We took lots of photos, sorry not to be able to include them here. I definitely will repeat the tour when I can return to Porto, it was that good!

I took a cooking class with Patricia a couple of weeks ago, and learnt a lot. Great recipes, from appetizer/cocktail to dessert. And of course how to cook the king of Portuguese cuisine, bacalhau (which, if dissalted, is surprisingly easy to cook). Great food, excellent wine, great company, and a team of dedicated locals with a passion for food that will assist you in anything you need during the class. Look no further for a great evening of eating and cooking.

We took the cooking class that these guys arrange at Rosa et al. If you're into this or at least into eating, you cannot not love it. The concept is this: with really gentle guidance from the professional chef you spend almost 4 hours preparing and eating a full course of Portuguese dishes during which you get tipsy while mingling with other cooking enthusiasts. But it's not only about the cooking and you can really have zero kitchen experience — it's just about sharing the genuine excitement for good food. And even if you don't get so obsessed with it as some of us do, you at least enjoy a delicious dinner. Five stars from my lady and me.

What a wonderful way to experience Porto! The focus is on everything local and you get a little taste of the best places. The guides are wonderful, very knowledgeable and easygoing. This tour is a MUST!
2 recommendations before you take the tour:
- Do it on your first day in Porto. You get lots of recommendations of other places to eat which would be great for the rest of your visit. (It is great any day though)
- GO HUNGRY!! You get sooo much food that you'd better leave room!

If you only have one day in Porto then this should be a must, if your here for a few days then do this first as the tour gives a great introduction to the areas and places to visit, the guides are as good as any I have found in any city and balance information, history and fun in equal measures.. Best food/city tour we've done anywhere! Small group. Perfect balance of Porto/Portugal history & food. Andre's passion for food & his home town of Porto really comes out right away and that is very refreshing. His great attitude & sense of humor really set the mood of the tour and it causes everyone to be in great spirits.
My only regret is not scheduling this tour earlier in our visit to Porto so we could learn about the city sooner. Highly recommend Taste Porto and would do it again if we ever returned to Porto!

If you had one day to spend in Porto, this is what I would recommend doing. I've travelled a lot and Taste Porto is honestly one of the best tours I've done in any city. It's the perfect balance of knowledge about the city and Portugal, meeting friendly and welcoming locals who are excited for your to experience their culture, sightseeing of major and historic sights along the way, and of course delicious food paired with great wine. André is knowledgeable, friendly and animated!

My friends and I really enjoyed the Taste Porto Food Tour! It was such an interesting way to experience the city. The food selection is terrific - both the savory and sweet samples were really excellent. The portions were generally not small, but there was a good mix of walking and eating so we could keep up our appetites all the way to the very end of the tour. We were all very impressed by the tour guide Andre. He was very knowledgeable and his love and enthusiasm for all things Porto were contagious. The tour was great value for money. It was one of the most memorable experiences we had on our trip to Portugal and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Porto.
