My trip was cancelled due to COVID19. Even with travel restrictions & a global pandemic, the hotel refused to prioritize the overal health and safety of their staff and traveling guests by offering proper compensation/refunds. My husband is also high risk, which adds a level of complication.
The first message I received from The Gate stated to, “contact Booking for a refund”. However, when I did, The Gate then refused to acknowledge/uphold this written statement when Booking contacted them to cancel/refund.
To say I am disappointed by their “customer service”, response, & lack of understanding is an understatement.

Amazing hotel, would definitely stay again. Rooms/facilities are modern and clean, and more spacious than expected. Location is fantastic, Staff very helpful and friendly. Only criticism is breakfast could be a bit better...

Las habitaciones justitas pero bien. Aunque cada habitacion tiene una terraza muy chula. El trato del personal excelente. Nos han ayudado en todo. La ubicación es perfecta.

Sehr sauberes und gutes Hotel. Das Personal ist sehr engagiert und das Frühstück ist reichhaltig und qualitativ sehr gut. Die Zimmer und das Badezimmer sind ausreichend groß. Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen.

Hotel très bien situé, moderne et sobre, très fonctionnel. Petit déjeuner copieux. Nuits parfois bruyantes mais on est en ville.

The location is very centric, near to the Street of Allies. The reception service is very warming and helpful. They even prepared an early breakfast for us, to take away. They are sweet and efficient.
The room was fantastic, wide and comfortable bed, big bathroom, a minimalist decoration and furniture, and a terrace with view to the street.

La recepción muy amables el desayuno perfecto, habitación perfecta super limpia y grande, bien situado y precio bien, por poner una pega diré mala insonorización, se escuchan ruidos por la noche, por lo menos desde nuestra habitación.

Aceptable. Bien situado pero la entrada es difícil de ver porque es estrecha con una puerta por la que se accede con la tarjeta o pulsando el timbre de recepción. La decoración es simple y moderna a veces parece un poco grunge. Desayuno correcto.

Very bad customer management: 10 days in advance, due a medical illnes, I wasn't able to travel. I forwarded the medical report in which they state to not travel but The Gate didn't accept to refund the reservation. What type of "customer service" is this? Very disappointed.

Estilo urbano, minimalista. Recepção 24h a funcionar. Camas com muito conforto. Limpeza impecável.

Good place, very good location, the breakfast is good. The only bad thing is that they are very strict on refund policy, even if you show them a doctor certificate to explain to them the problem, they don’t do an effort to help

Quarto do lado da estrada, as janelas não isolam o ruído dos carros na rua e ainda por cima há um semáforo e é a subir, logo que os a carros arrancam é uma barulheira infernal.
Tudo isto era resolvido com janelas duplas. Ás 7h levantei me e fui embora.
Enfim não gostei.

Per chi viene a Porto in Portogallo lo consiglio molto gentili e camere pulite e confortevoli.
Colazione mabbondante e con molta scelta per tutti i gusti.
Dalla metro per arrivare ci vogliono 10 minuti a piedi ed è situato in una buona posizione.

We are a well-traveled couple and this was our first trip to Porto. - Location is fabulous, we could take bathroom breaks in the middle of day walking between places! (3-min walk from Sao Bento train station; 8-min walk from mall Catarina/ walking street; 15-min walk to the waterfront area!)- Staff were so friendly esp. the kitchen staff! The ladies were lovely and prepared Christmas Portuguese desserts for guests. They made our stay even better. - Room is very clean with a rack that saves a lot of space. Bathroom a bit dark but water pressure is good. - Breakfast is healthy and nice, definitely good value for the money. We arrived a couple mins late for breakfast one morning but staff allowed us to enjoy the meal anyway. We were overwhelmed in a great way by their thoughtfulness. Thank you The Gate, it made our first trip to Porto even more memorable.

Весьма неплохо за эту цену. Местоположение- центральная часть города, до всего пешком 10-15 минут. Своего пакркинга нет, но напротив подземный общественный паркинг за 15 евро в сутки. Номера достаточно просторные, все работает. Там где окна на улицу-шумно, но так везде в центре города.Рядом ресторан с минипивоварней Nortada. В общем если недорого и в центре без особых излишеств, но и без ущербности, то вполне подходящее место.

Fusión entre arquitectura clásica de Oporto y vanguardia, un concepto diferente para alojarse, detalles cuidados, limpieza trato excelente de todos los empleados Emma la chica de recepción es maravillosa. Camas cómodas. Ideal para descansar se respira paz en el centro de la ciudad todo un acierto!!!

The general ambience was very nice and the staff incredibly helpful. The room was decent but there were a few unfinished or deffcient aspects to the maintenance - the shower did not drain properly and the bathroom door did not close. Otherwise very nice place and fantastic location.

My friends stayed here. I think they're trying to be boutique and cool, but just come off as poor quality. They were offered a complimentary drink at the bar so my friends ordered a whiskey and soda water. After ordering it, she was told it wasn't included as a free drink - only a Porto tonico cocktail is free. She was then charged €10 for the whiskey! Meanwhile, the staff were using the bar area to unpack what appeared to be new uniforms - hardly creates a great ambience. The bar felt like a laundry room!
The room was very small but clean.
They also charge a whopping €20 to keep your luggage for you after you check out! That should be free.
Overall?...Go elsewhere!

L’établissement est situé en plein cœur de la ville. Si l’entrée est discrète sur la rue et si l’accès peut sembler austère, cela cache un endroit à la fois sophistiqué et simple où on se sent très bien. Le style un peu « usine » des couloirs gris, des rayonnages dans la chambre peut surprendre, mais tout est choisi avec soins, la chambre est spacieuse et la salle de bain superbe. Un petit message vous accueille dans votre chambre et le personnel est là toujours prêt à vous aider. Le petit déjeuner est merveilleux avec une abondance tout en préservant la sobriété. Chaque jour est différent avec gâteaux ou plats salés très goûteux. À souligner l’amabilité et la bonne humeur des personnes préparant les plats. Toute la journée le bar est ouvert pour déguster une pâtisserie ou boire un jus de fruit mis à disposition. En résumé, une adresse d’exception pour visiter une ville qui l’est également !

Great location. Helpful staff. Gorgeous room. We booked a room with a terrace. It was amazing. Nothing like having a glass of wine, overlooking old Porto, on your own private terrace. This is a really nice hotel/guesthouse that includes a lovely breakfast. I would return here in a heart beat.

Good location, centre of the town. Excellent service, nice hotel staff from the front desk to housekeepers. Nice breakfast, continental breakfast with great and fresh choices and frequent replenishment. Nice room, simple design with a soft Double bed. Lovely if a little fridge to be equipped in the room.

스페인,포르투갈 11일 여행 통틀어 가장 좋았던 숙소였어요.
위치 좋고 객실도 크고 깨끗하고 조용하고, 리셉션 직원들이 무척 친절합니다.
특히 체크인해주신 여직원 분, 제가 너무 좋아하는 식당이 있는데 그쪽이 영어로 소통이 안 돼서 영업시간 문의 전화 요청을 드렸더니 직접 통화해서 해결해주셨고, 와인오프너가 없어서 남직원에게 요청했더니 기꺼이 해주셨어요. 직원들이 전반적으로 말 한마디도 예쁘게 하시더라고요. 교육된 친절함이 아니라 원래 상냥한 사람들이라는 느낌이어서 좋았어요.
조식은 가짓수가 많은 건 아니지만 이쪽 지역 스타일 생각하면 충분히 갖춰진 편인 거 같고요, 크라상 정말 맛있어요.
