I could not reccommed this hostel more. Out of our whole trip through Portugal this place was the most memorable. The staff sat right along with everyone and made everyone feel welcome. Travis was an excellent cook and the family dinners were a highlight of our stay there. The hostel was clean, the beds were comfy and the guests were very nice. On our last morning at old town, the hostel along with Travis travelled out to a cliff to watch the sunrise and it was THE perfect way to end our stay at Old Town and in Lagos. 10/10

A small, charming hostel! You'll find lots of travelers from around the world, a common room and terrace with a chill atmosphere, and a very amiable staff. A little cramped, but worth it, especially for the price. Plus, free coffee!

Lagos ficou ainda melhor com a equipe do Old Town. Hotel com jeitinho de casa, uma super equipe sempre atenciosa que nos deu muitas dicas e nos ajudou com tudo que necessitamos! Gratidão a vocês ❤️

Sehr schöne Altstadt. Vielzahl an historischen Denkmälern und Gebäuden, diese reflektieren die abwechslungsreiche Vergangenheit.

Probably one of the best hostel experiences from my time in Europe. Jason, Harry and the rest of the team are legends. The place is super small but that just adds to it and makes the atmosphere pretty family like, the dinners they put on are great for socialising and meting people. The day trip run out to Benegil cave was fantastic and just the general vibe of the place was super chill which is what you want when you go to the beach right? Great crowd there at the time also helped! Would definitely return.

Amazing place!!! The staff is extremely friendly and even organized tours for our group even though there weren’t any planned. The hostel is small but the rooms are spacious and the guys working there always make sure everyone meets each other so the atmosphere is familiar and fun. I’d definitely recommend this hostel to anyone who wants to have a great time in Lagos

This hostel does not control those guests hosted there that are at the front door smoking all day but especially those talking loud at (very) late hours at night. Disturbing therefore the sleep of all neighbors.

First of all, Old Town needs to be recognized for it's great service. I'm not sure if the guy working the desk is an employee or the owner, but he makes sure everyone feels at home, doing fun things and is comfortable. The beds are cozy and the price is acceptable comparative to the other hostel in the area. The breakfast is free but it's basic (flakes and toast). The atmosphere is fairly good, in that they take care to see that people are doing activities in which people would meet others. Old Town is the sister hostel of Sol a Sol, and so they group up for a lot of activities. I recommend Old Town for your stay, just due to that guy at the desk. He's rad.

Amazing hosts. They said to me once: we’re not friends here, we are family. And it was true: I really felt at home in this little hostel where the dorms are always open (that surprise me in the beginning but at the end I thought it was awesome), where the family dinners are so good (thank you Travis), and where is so easy to make friends with everyone. Perfect place to go for a loner traveller like me. This has been the best hostel I’ve stayed so far! Only thing to change: put some curtains in the bathroom so the water don’t go everywhere (+ a little carpet to dry it), and do recycling!!! And voilà: beside this everything was perfect. Thanks again guys

I was 100% satisfied with my stay at Old Town Hostel. It’s cozy and well located. I went with a couple of friends but I would also recommend it for solo travelers. The vibe there is very friendly which makes it extremely easy to meet new people. The staff was super cool and nice to us. A special out to Travis who was always very helpful even when he wasn’t on duty. He made sure I had a memorable time in Lagos.

I cannot rate this home enough. Thank you Travis and Daniel for an experience and memories I won’t forget. I did not want to leave and kept booking extra nights because of the vibe. See you soon!!

What a time that was, from start to finish the crew at old town hostel were always very helpful, stayed there for 4 nights and the free pub crawl was a hit and their insights gave us plenty to do, Travis who works there is an absolute dude and one of the coolest guys I’ve met along with Anthony who runs the pub crawl and is your fun loving Aussie fella, both made everyone very welcome and ensured everyone was well looked and safe together! If you’re looking to have the best time in Lagos go to old town hostel and get in touch with those two legends

I don’t write reviews. Ever. But here I am giving a shout out to Old Town! My friend and I had a reservation for two nights. We then extended several times and in the end I think we stayed about a week. This place has a great social vibe: there’s a free pub crawl every night, cheap family dinners (made by Travis, cook/musician/one of the coolest people you’ll ever meet), a wonderful living room + outdoor patio space, and good people working the front desk. Please note: I’m not saying this place is for everyone. It’s a pretty young crowd and I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking for a calm, quiet place to stay. With that being said, Lagos is a place to have a good time so if there’s an available bed at Old Town, get it!

Los recepcionistas son muy amables y tienen buena disposición, sin embargo, el hostal no es muy limpio, las piezas son muy pequeñas sin aire acondicionado. En realidad es muy caro para lo que es. No volvería.

Lovely restaurants, lively streets with good gift shops, Market stalls, ice cream venders. Boat trips and old building's keep you occupied all day.

New hostel, opened in June 2017. Has very spacious rooms, which is a real bonus for a hostel. Makes it easier to share the space with other people and enjoy a wonderful holiday on a low-budget. The position is right in the heart of the city, which makes it great for for day and night time activities. The personnel is nice, kind and always happy to help. I will definitely come back again. In total it has been one of the best experiences of my trip to portugal!

I have to start off by saying that I've never written a bad review for a hostel. I'm not one to complain but I felt the need to write this review. My friend and I stayed at Old Town Hostel our two nights in Lagos Nov. 4 and 5, 2015. I woke up multiple times the first night with many itches. Finally around 4:00 am I got up to look in the mirror because I felt welts on my head. I was shocked to see my forehead was swollen. I went back to the bed with a light and found a bedbug. I then woke up my friend and together we found two more bedbugs. We went out to talk to the person at the front desk. He felt terrible and said they hadn't bad bedbugs in three years. Nonetheless he moved us to a different room. We left out belongings in the first room in case they had gotten into our stuff as we didn't want to spread the bugs. We asked him if there was a laundry mat close by so we could wash our things the next day. He said they had laundry at the hostel. The next morning a new person was working but he had heard about what happened. He told us we could move our stuff to the new room. I explained that it wouldn't be a good idea just in case they had gotten in our clothes. We asked if we could do laundry. He said we could but would have to pay 8 euros per load. We asked if we could do it for free because we were pretty sure they had come from Old Town. He said he would have to ask the owners. After a phone call he informed us that we would indeed have to pay. Frustrated, we hand washed the clothes in extremely hot water. Later in the day Hugo, the manager, was at the hostel. He immediately began telling us that there were NO bugs in the room. He checked everything and he was trained in this. I asked him nicely if I could explain the whole story. As I told him exactly what happened he kept interrupting me but I eventually got the story out and he agreed to dry our clothes for us. Thankful we were finally able to get some help with the situation we gathered our clothes and went with him to the dryer. He put one load in and left the second load in a bucket on the floor. About and hour and a half later we went to check on the first load and found Hugo near the laundry room. He told us, "Do NOT touch the dryer! I will take care of it. You could get electrocuted." Confused, we walked away and trusted he would have our clothes dry by morning. The next morning, however, we got up and went to get our clothes only to find the second load still soaked in the bucket on the floor and the first load still soaked sitting in the dryer. Extremely frustrated at this point we went to talk to the man at the front desk (The same man who told us we had to pay for laundry the day before) Even he seemed to be sorry this time. He was surprised that Hugo hadn't followed through. He helped us put all of our clothes in plastic bags so we could take it to a laundry mat. We paid to rewashed and dry our clothes. We missed our train therefore didn't get to our new city until late that night. We felt as if we lost an entire day of travel simply because the hostel wasn't helpful in a situation we felt the hostel itself had put us in. (Hugo also didn't show up for the kayaking tour he was supposed to take the group on. He said it was because the waters were too rough. He could have at least let the group know. We ended up going with a company that same day so apparently the waters were fine.) Like I said at the beginning, I have never written a bad review but our stay at Old Town was so frustrating. The owner and the manager were the two who could have easily helped us out yet were the ones who were unfriendly in the whole situation.

the rooms, kitchen, balcony, living room, toilets/showers were in top shape. but the best part was hugo and his work-mates. hugo is an exceptional young man, always vibrant and helpful, a true asset to the hostel. fluent in spanish, english and portuguese (obviously), hugo is the man with the plan in lagos. super hostel!
