Já fui a este restaurante várias vezes. Compreendo que a localização é um pouco exclusiva e que a gerência procura oferecer um toque mais requintado... Alguns pratos de marisco e até a referência a vinhos caríssimos na carta piscam o olho a outro nível. No entanto, a sensação que fico sempre, por exemplo em relação a pratos típicos como o arroz de tamboril ou o arroz de lingueirão é que é bom mas caro. O pior de tudo é que as doses são referidas como sendo para duas pessoas, mas são enormes e cada vez mais os restaurantes deviam estar atentos ao desperdício.

Starter was really small but pretty expensive, we had to wait about 50 minutes for our main dishes, waiter asked if I'd like mayonnaise for my fries, I said yes, but didn't get some...
Sunset cannot be seen from seats in the restaurant.
Expectations were much higher!!!

Schön gelegenes Restaurant mit Blick auf den Strand Praia da Arrifana. Sehr gutes Essen und aufmerksame Bedienung. Speziell Meeresfrüchte aller Art sind hier wirklich zu empfehlen und kommen frisch auf den Teller.
Bedingt durch den manchmal großen Gästeandrang klappt aber auch mal was nicht und man muss aufpassen, daß die eigene Bestellung nicht 'verloren geht'...
Die Räumlichkeiten sind, dem Andrang entsprechend, manchmal nicht ganz so sauber und gepflegt, wie erwartet.
Generell sind die Preise hier etwas höher wie anderswo, man zahlt die Location also mit.
Die Qualität des Essens würde ich nach Schulnoten mit '2+' bewerten.

Serviram-me um pregado que já não devia ver água há mais tempo que as peúgas do meu avô. Ao meu lado, espanhóis, foi-lhes exibido o peixe numa travessa com a indicação do peso, coisa que me omitiram, ficando com a convicção de que o 1.2 kg que me facturaram deveriam ser quase o dobro do peso real.
Voltarei sim, com umas sandocas
no bolso para ver tão bela paisagem.....

Wide variety of meals to choose from, fish looked amazing and so fresh. We had Grilled Pork Tenderloin and Salmon Tagliatelle. Both portions very generous. Glad we only had couvert to start. Will be going back for Fish next time.

Were our for a ride in the area and came across this place. Had not read any previous reviews. We were just hungry! Looked like it would be expensive but honestly it was a little high for lunch as there was no price fix but we had fresh red snapper. They brought out the fish to show us before it was cooked. They charge by the Kilo of the fish on most fish dishes. We took the dive. It was fantastic. The fish was fresh grilled and presented with sweet potatoes and a selection of 4 vegetables. The vegetables were done perfectly and it was more than enough for 2 people to eat. We had drinks and my husband has an appetizer. Really for what we got it was on the high side of moderate. The staff was great, the setting is great. I would go again in a heartbeat. Great stumble and find.

Ich hatte am Vormittag für einen Tisch am Abend reserviert. Am Abend bekamen wir dann einen Tisch mit einem herrlichen Ausblick auf die Küste. Beim Bestellen hatte ich zuerst einen größeren Schreck als ich die Preise (einige hundert Euro) sah. Es stellte sich jedoch heraus dass es nicht die Speisekarte sondern die Weinkarte war. Es gab aber auch einen Hauswein zu erschwinglichen Preisen. Die Bestellung war sehr einfach weil die Bedienung perfekt Deutsch sprach. Sie ist mit 4 Jahren mit den Eltern aus Deutschland nach Portugal gekommen. Das Essen ist ein bisschen teurer als anderswo aber die Menge ist viel und bei hoher Qualität. Dann noch der tolle Ausblick und dann sind die Preise wieder angemessen. Kann es nur Empfehlen. Reservierung nicht vergessen!

Das Restaurant O Paulo kennen wir nur von außen. Optisch ein Hingucker. Es hat eine fantastische Lage hoch oben auf der Felsenküste von Arrifana. Ein paar Meter entfernt vom Restaurant, hat man einen Traumblick auf den Strand von Arrifana und die grandiose Felsenküste Westportugals.

Las inmejorables vistas, lo agradable del lugar, lo animado del ambiente y el buen servicio no desmerece en absoluto de la excelente comida, muy basada en la materia prima del lugar que se sirve aquí. El precio por si fuera poco es adecuado a lo que se ofrece, lo cual hace que no extrañe que siempre esté lleno, y haya que reservar o en su lugar hacer una larga espera. En todo caso muy recomendable

Amazing view and very friendly service. We were greeted at the door and offered wine to enjoy with the view while we waited 10 minutes for a table to be ready. We ordered a whole snapper grilled and it was excellent and enough for three of us.

Muy buena comida. No se puede decir otra cosa. Los platos muy bien hechos. Yo creo que es la mejor comida de la zona. Productos muy frescos.
No le pongo 5 estrellas porque hace dos años nos hicieron un feo al no dejarnos pasar a una mesa a la sombra después de llevar un rato comiendo al sol por que llevábamos perros. En esta ocasión el trato por parte del personal ha sido muy bueno.

It seems that being a native portuguese citizen is a disavantaged in this restaurant.It's so clear the devotion in the reception to turists VS native citizen's. But don't forget...in the winter are the native's that go to your restaurant ....or maybe not!
Regarding the childrens chair....it's filthy and with the seatbelt broken!!!!!!!!!! The lack of interest and regard was so gigantic that one can only imagine how that translates into what is done beside closed doors.
After being here quite a few times, never coming back to where you're not wanted.
For success to endure you need to be polite,greet your customer with a smile and care.

Das Lokal lebt von seiner Lage. Ansonsten mehr Schein als Sein.
Unser Wunsch nach einem freien Tisch am Fenster wurde abgelehnt - wir hatten nicht reserviert. Im Restaurant waren jedoch viele Tische frei und keine weiteren Gäste kamen um die freien Tische zu belegen. Es sah sehr nach Willkür aus. So erhielten wir also einen ziemlich unangenehmen Tisch am Eck und mit engem Durchgang.
Die Fischsuppe war kalt, der gegrillte Tintenfisch und deren Beilagen schön angerichtet jedoch zäh und ebenso kalt.
Ein Nachbesserungswunsch führte leider dazu dass dieser genießbar wurde....
Der (Haus)Wein ist im Vergleich zu sonst in portugiesischen Restaurants angebotenen von minderer Qualität.
Fazit: Preis und Leistung passen absolut nicht zusammen. Wir waren bzw. sind sehr enttäuscht.

Sehr gutes Fischrestaurant mit fabelhaften Ausblick. Wenn man zum Sonnenuntergang auf der Terrasse sitzen möchte (was nur zum Empfehlen ist), sollte man im Vorhinein reservieren. Es ist ein bisschen teuerer, aber für die Qualität geht das in Ordnung. Kellner sind sehr nett.

Reservieren ist von Vorteil. Wir sind ohne Reservierung hin und hatten Glück einen Tisch zu bekommen.
Parkplätze sind leider Mangelware.
Dafür ist der Ausplick phänomenal!!!!

Great food. We were a little scared at first that the prices of the fish were extremely high, but it's a system whereby they're priced by the kilogramme, which could likely feed 3-4 people. You can order less than a full kilogramme though. The prices are actually very reasonable.
The meat is also pretty great, specially the burger. The steaks we were brought were a little cold and the chips a little too crispy but very tasty.

April 2018 heerlijk gegeten, vriendelijke bediening, alles prima in orde, prijs-kwaliteit ok. Reden om er in aug 2018 voor om te rijden....dat hadden we beter niet kunnen doen. De pasta met zalm was opnieuw lekker maar die met gegrilde groente echt niet. Niks gegrild, rauw! Navraag gaf beleefd 'ik haal een nieuwe portie voor u'. Even later kwam hetzelfde bord (herkend aan n half stukje bijna rauwe courgette) retour. Alleen warmer. Bediening leek niet gestructureerd, was traag, kaarsje werd (pikkedonker) niet vervangen en pas na navraag werd eindelijk de tafel afgeruimd.. over een n vol retour gestuurd bord werd niets meer gevraagd. De 'lekkerste taart van Portugal' (april), chocolade, zoete aardappel en rood fruit, zou het goed moeten maken. Helaas was daar nu ineens een flinke sloot likeur overheen gegoten. Opnieuw geklaagd, uiteindelijk een nieuw stukje van een andere taart gekregen. Vervolgens eindeloos gewacht op de rekening. Een grote desillusie al met al. Erg jammer. De plek is idyllisch maar de verwachtingen werden niet waargemaakt.

Schönes Restaurant. Gutes Essen. Netter Fleck Erde. Sehr gut besucht und touristisch, aber kann man gut machen. Wir hatten einen sehr netten Fensterplatz und wirklich klasse Essen. Die Portionen waren sehr groß (kg Preise) aber echt lecker. Unsere Bedienung war auch super freundlich! Wir hatten einen schönen Abend und konnten dann vor dem Restaurant am Look out noch einen wunderschönen Sonnenuntergang sehen! Echt toll!

I do know this restaurant from the day it was constructed and opened. From that day till now quality and service are 1000 %. Every time I visit there for a meal it's perfect and I enjoy the time spending there. Then the location on the cliff with "free views" to the US of A are breath taking. So whenever you visit Arrifana it's not completed without visiting O'Paulo.

Localização fantástica - começámos às 19h por petiscar com um gin e uma sapateira que estava deliciosa (feita na hora!) com torradas barradas a manteiga de alho (delícia absoluta!). Fomos depois fazer um intervalo, indo para o forte da Arrifana para ver o pôr do sol de gin na mão. Fantástico.
Depois, pedimos a mariscada com lavagante! Já há algum tempo que não comia uns mexilhões tão bons e as amêijoas estavam divinas.
Os percebes, típicos desta costa, eram mesmo fresquinhos e haviam de diversos tamanhos (em outras marisqueiras, por norma, só existem os de tamanho mais pequeno).
As ostras estavam também fresquinhas e quase "cremosas" quando se comiam (que é como devem estar).

Fomos muito mal atendidos... muito tempo à espera para fazer o pedido e depois mais de hora e meia aguardar pelo pedido. Mesas que chegaram depois atendidas primeiro. Por diversas vezes questionamos os empregados que pediam desculpa mas ficavam por aí. Muito mau serviço para o preço que cobram.

If you're near vale da telha, or arrifana and fancy some fresh fish, this is the place. The best setting possible, reasonably priced(maybe a little upscale), but proper fresh fish and seafood. Great selection of espumantes, and wines in general!

. .nous voyons sur le menu la poulpe et avons compris que c était de la poulpe grillée.( j adore)... ok pour les 2..mais nous arrive et toujours sans sourire deux assiettes de poulpe " bouillie" ou cuite à l eau ....impossible pour moi de la manger..gluante..je ne dirai pas mauvaise mais pas du tout ce a quoi je m attendais et pour moi cela ne passait pas.....je n ai presque rien mangé...on peut ne pas aimer un plat que l on a choisit mais quand la serveuse a mit beaucoup beaucoup de mauvaise volonté pour vous comprendre et vous servir cela est très desagreable, d autant plus que nous l avons vu bien discuter et sourire avec des clients Portugais.
Nous ne reviendrons plus dans ce restaurant..

Restaurant populaire situé sur un piton rocheux contre l'ancien fort d'où la vu exceptionnelle sur l'océan et sur les falaises provoque une certaine quiétude. L'accueil est sympathique, le service est de bonne qualité et les plats sont servis avec les produits frais du port de pêche à moins de 500 mètres. La cataplana de mariscos, plat emblématique de la région est certainement la meilleure de la côte est. Cet endroit est à connaître absolument pour les amateurs. Pour le touriste que je suis, ce fût une belle expérience et j'y retournerai, je peux vous l'affirmer.

Ich bewertet *nicht* das Restaurant , "O Paulo", das sich hier -ganz in der Nähe der Ruine- befindet, sondern die Ruine und vor allem den traumhaften Blick von der Ruine des Fortalezas Arrifana hinunter zum Meer. Das Tor der Ruine würde wohl renoviert und ist so etwas, wie der Eingang zum Himmel. Der Blick von oben über die traumhafte Atlantikküste im Westen Portugals, ist einfach überwältigend. Auch den großen Arrifanastrand, kann man von hier sehr gut einsehen. Ein Dorado für Wellenreiter. Einige Bänke dort oben, laden zum Verweilen ein.
VERSTEHE NICHT, WARUM MAN KEINE BEWERTUNG VON DER RUINE DES FORTALEZA ARRIFANA SELBST MACHEN KANN!!??

Sehr gutes Restaurant mit toller Lage, direkt an der Steilküste.
Vor der Hauptspeise gab es einen feinen bunten Salat, den man auch selbst anmachen könnte.
Danach einen gebratenen Oktopus mit Süßkartoffeln und Roter Beete. Inhaber nich nie einen solch leckeren Oktopus gegessen. Das Personal ist auch sehr sehr nett und aufmerksam.

Por ter deixado boa impressão há 2 anos, regressamos há 3 dias atrás. As amêijoas à bolhão pato estavam muito boas, quanto ao arroz de lingueirão, foi das coisas mais deslavadas que comi até hoje. Desaconselho veementemente. A mousse de chocolate estava bem. Uma hora depois de sairmos os intestinos começaram às voltas. Três dias volvidos e os distúrbios intestinais ainda não desapareceram. Valha a localização que está num ponto com vistas soberbas.

You can choose between reservations either for 7.00 pm or 9.30 pm. We arrived in time and waited for 35 minutes to do the order, that we are ready to order (with 2 kids), by 7:40 so we decided to leave the restaurant. Some tables were full, but it wasn‘t that busy that the staff should have been too busy to take care for the guests. When we left nobody really did bother, so it was the right decision to go to another lovely and yummy place in arrifana instead.

La ubicación es fantástica, sobre los acantilados, y el local es bonito, pero acogedor. El servicio fue muy amable y actuaron de cómplices en el cumpleaños de nuestra hija. La comida riquísima y el producto muy fresco : percebes, mejillones, dorada y arroz de tamboril. El arroz para dos vale para cuatro. No es caro para la calidad del producto. Volvería encantada.

Una comida muy muy buena. Buena calidad de producto. Nos encantó. El arroz de marisco muy recomendable, eso si, si vais dos personas pedid solo el arroz, es una olla entera pero muy rica. La atención muy buena. ¿Caro? Bueno depende. El precio del pescado si parecia un poco elevado pero el de los platos de arroz está muy bien para todo lo que es. Repetiremos seguro.

Bis auf den tollen Ausblick das schlechteste Restaurant, das ich hier in der Gegend probiert habe. Vorspeise sehr lieblos zubereitet, Brot ungenießbar, Salat ohne Dressing. Tische werden nicht abgeräumt. Nudeln, die wohl schon vorgekocht und aufgewärmt werden. Das Steak im zweiten Anlauf ok, vorher fast roh statt Medium Rare. Auf keinen Fall wieder! Vielleicht hält sich das Restaurant durch den Ausblick oder die Fischkarte. Für uns war es jedoch definitiv das letzte Mal.

A bit far of this place rewards you not just with one of the best views over the sea but also delicious and fresh seafood. If you’re brave enough and havent’t seen or eaten them before try the Entenmuscheln or Goose Barnacles which are bit pricy (cause they are very difficult to harvest) and interesting to eat.

Came here expecting a decent meal. Left feeling nauseous. We ordered the salmon tagliatelle and roasted duck. The salmon unfortunately drowned in oil, the duck was gray, dry and tough. Such an unfortunate meal to spend so much money on. Manager couldn't care less, a table away devoted to his fried fish, while we were picking away at the edible bites of our pricey meal.

Unverschämt! Ab 15 Uhr haben die kein Bock mehr zu arbeiten! Wir standen 20 Minuten es waren viele Tische frei und die Kellnerin meinte wir schaffen es nicht euch zu bedienen das ist zu viel ! Wir sagten dass wir auch warten können oder später kommen und es sind doch Tische frei ! Sie verdrehte die Augen und tschüss !!!! Dabei arbeiten die bis 18 Uhr !
Also einfach nur lächerlich!

Great food and nice service. A beautiful view next to the old moorish ruins and the sea. Cosy wooden restaurant. Well worth a visit.

Óptimo restaurante de marisco, tudo um delícia! Mesmo sem reserva conseguimos uma mesa, com uma vista espetacular e o staff foi super simpático e prestável.

Pesce alla griglia cucinato alla perfezione. Servizio perfetto. Location superlativa. Cercate un posto fuori frontemare. Al menù che vedete aggiungete una birra (lo so che con le ostriche... ma non posso bere vino) e un caffè. Da notare la birra è soggetta al 23% di tasse; le ostriche al 13%

Tolles Restaurant mit super Ausblick und einer exzellenten Fischkarte. Leider gibt es einen kleinen Punktabzug, da die Beilagen des geschmacklich zweifellos perfekten Menüs (Adlerfisch) nur mäßig warm serviert wurden. Damit wurde ein großartiges Essen leicht vermeidbar deklassiert. Das T-Bone Steak meiner Frau lag auch länger als bestellt auf dem Grill.

There is a really friendly German bar staff. She offered us some drinks to enjoy outside even if they were calling it a day. Have good cake as well!
