The staff treat tourists poorly. As soon as the waitress heard we spoke English her whole attitude changed. We had people come and go at nearby tables in the time it took for us to be served the same food, we were completely ignored and had to fetch the waiters twice to ask for our plates to be cleared/next meal/payment. Very poor experience despite being recommend this restaurant by a local. The food wasnt great but for the price I wouldn't complain, I left very full although we did not get out last order because after asking for our expresso the waitress didn't come back. Tourists should avoid this place like the plague, they obviously prefer locals

We visit this place every holiday, it's absolutely fab. Atalai, the owner, is a generous host who always makes an effort to make you feel special! A local restaurant with wonderful food and service, best prawns and bread you'll ever eat and Eugene makes an amazing sangria!! If your nearby it's definitely worth a visit!!

Been going here for 30 years! It’s always had excellent food with great service and the staff are wonderfully friendly. With generous portion sizes and great wine it’s a lovely place to sit outside and enjoy a lovely evenings meal and drink with your friends and family before walking back up to your villa. Perfect place to pop out to for lunch or dinner if you’re staying in any Villa up in Atalia.
Personal Recommendation: Stay ya the Private Casa CaroLisa and walk down here to Atalia Bar for a perfect Portugal getaway

Wir waren zu Mittag dort. Freundliches Personal. Zur Mittagszeit kann es schon mal sein, dass die Plätze knapp werden. Preis Leistung ist einfach top. Sehr gutes drei Gänge Menü gegessen. Einrichtung ist einfach gehalten. Die Qualität der Speisen ist einfach spitze. Ein bisschen Wartezeit sollte man mitbringen. Da das Restaurant sehr gut besucht ist. Ich würde das Restaurant als sehr preiswert einschätzen. Drei Gänge Menü mit zwei großen Bier circa 12 Euro.

Reasonable prices most certainly. I had the 'Portuguese stew'. It was more like a biology lesson than a meal with unidentifiable pig parts! Disgusting and inedible.

Von aussen recht unscheinbares Restaurant. Aufmerksam wurden wir durch die grosse Menge an Autos die dort zur Mittagszeit parkten. Wir (zwei Erwachsene, drei Kinder) testeten es abends. Der Service war erstklassig, das Essen hervorragend. Zwischendurch kam sogar der Koch vorbei um nachzusehen ob alles in Ordnung sei. Die Speisekarte ist in mehreren Sprachen verfasst so dass es keine Probleme mit der Bestellung gab. Das ganze Restaurant war einfach aber blitzsauber eingerichtet. Sitzen kann man draussen, halbgeschlossen auf einer Art Veranda oder drinnen. Der Service war auch für die Sonderwünsche der Kinder offen(Spezi kannte er noch nicht) und erfüllte diese prompt. Wir waren sehr zufrieden. Wir können dieses Lokal sehr empfehlen.

Nao queria dar 4 estrelas, daria 3.5 mas o Google nao permite. Prato do dia 9,50€ com tudo incluido, pão quentinho no couvert... acompanhado de uma saborosa açorda d'alho, pelos vistos é o carimbo de excelencia da casa. Apesar de ter adorado a comida, nao fiquei completamente satisfeito com o timing do atendimento, pois vi outras mesas que sentaram depois de mim e foram atendidos e servidos muito antes! (Compreensível, pois eram grupos maiores, e eu sozinho) Espero que numa próxima oportunidade eu dê mais sorte...

Regional und lecker
Das Restaurant liegt außerhalb des Stadtzentrums und wird von Einheimischen und Touristen gleichermaßen aufgesucht. Man kann sich für einen der drei Sitzbereiche entscheiden: ganz draußen, in einer halboffenen Terrasse oder im Innenbereich. Im Service sind junge Leute, die sehr freundlich und schnell sind. Es wird auch englisch gesprochen. Meckerer, wie am Nachbartisch, wurden professionell behandelt.
Das Essen war sehr gut. Das Brot ofenwarm, die Venusmuscheln in einer tollen Soße und der Schwertfisch auf den Punkt gegrillt. Die Portionen sind sehr reichlich bemessen und für „Normalesser“ bei drei Gängen kaum vollständig zu bewältigen.
Daumen hoch für eine Empfehlung. Wer bis 19:00 Uhr eintrifft, bekommt den Platz, der am besten gefällt.

We have dined in Atalaia few times whilst we stayed in Lagos for our holiday. Nice, simple food, fresh fish and real chips (not from frozen!). Vladimir, who served us, was very friendly and helpful! What a star.

Sehr leckeres Essen für Einheimische und Touristen. Direkt neben einem weiteren Restaurant was auch sehr empfehlenswert ist. Da dieses zur Zeit (2te Januarwoche) Urlaub hat ist natürlich der Andrang und damit die Wartezeit etwas länger. Aber wir haben ja Urlaub und da sollte Zeit kein Problem darstellen. Mittagstisch typisch, all inkl.
Für Abends empfiehlt es sich zu reservieren, das Essen ist einfach super und die Wirtsleute superfreundlich.

Wir waren mit dem Essen sehr zufrieden. Ich hatte eigentlich ein Kindermenü bestellt und trotzdem einen riesen Teller bekommen. Die Kellnerin Sara und ihr Mann waren sehr nett und erkundigten sich mehrmals, wie das Essen war und ob wir zufrieden sind. Das Preis Leistungs Verhältnis ist super. Die Tagessuppe hat mir besonders gut geschmeckt. Ich kann das Restaurant absolut weiterempfehlen.

Het wordt bezocht door de lokale bevolking en werklui.
Eenvoudige, maar smaakvolle, kost tegen acceptabele prijzen.
Mijn voorkeur gaat uit naar cavalas(makreel).

Nine of us reserved a table when we got there we were just left to find it ordered our food three other tables off people who came in after us the waiter was friendly with and was chatting to all the time got there food before us I complained he wasn’t bothered just told me it was coming after 90 minutes we finally got our food was nice food to be fair but will not bother going again They missed out on nine deserts and coffees and if they had treated us better we would have probably gone there every other night so there loss The waiter wearing the black shirt was ignorant and I’m surprised he has managed to keep his job

Não recomendo de todo! Apesar da simpatia do dono do restaurante e do restante staff, os empregados da cozinha não sabem o que estão a fazer, a comida vem mal confeccionada e a saber a doce.... Peço a Carne bem passada e vem muito mal passada e os pratos mal servidos.... não recomendo a ninguém! Não voltarei e certamente vao perder mais clientes a agir assim....

Great local restaurant, very popular with workers and locals,so has a very nice feel.Great sitting outside area,under fruit tree or umbrellas,big inside area,if you prefer. Daily set menu 8.50euros,includes soup,warm bread roll with lively garlic oil dip fish or meat choice, dessert, wine and bica coffee.(small black coffee)Or you can choose off main menu,,still at resonable prices.Fantastic value,always satisfied after,great service,friendly staff,.They do big party celebrations for 30 and above for set price,,great for birthday celebrations,etc.

Top place run by a very friendly guy. Usually crowded lunchtime because it's very good value but there are lots of covers. Fish is superb but lots of other choices too. A first choice for us.

C'est le restaurant ouvrier typique du Portugal.
Les plats sont simples et bons. N'y cherchez pas de la fine cuisine mais plutôt celle de tous les jours à un prix défiant toute concurrence.
Le restaurant propose 6 ou 7 plats du jour à 8 euros boissons et dessert compris.

We travelled from Dublin to Lagos and we were hungry on our arrival. We had fish and chips for our main course. My fish arrived with garlic butter as a dressing on our fish. The fish was raw and uncooked. When we pointed this out to the owner he commented that not all the fish was uncooked on my plate as I had eaten a part of it to my horror. He proceeded to charge us half for the fish ! My husband argued that we did not come to a restaurant for frozen fish / raw . He commented that it was frozen fish. We said that we could have bought that in any supermarket and that it should have been advertised on the menu as frozen fish. He could not have cared less. The owner shrugged and gave us our bill. Never again. Dreadful food. Tourist BEWARE.

My rating is subjective on what you expect. This restaurant is very popular with locals... This usually means great prices which was true. But sometimes this means poor service, which is what I felt we got. It was like we don't need you tourists.. But we will serve you I suppose . There were no menus, just what the waiter offered and a board in Portuguese. This amounted to 4 choices of pork, and fish. Well that's fine if those two choices are what you like. We chose, the pork leg was ok,but no more; my wife liked the sea bass. I know this style of eating suits some, and for them 5 star is ok, but with a town like Lagos with hundreds of restaurants, for others elsewhere may be better, including the restaurant next door.

This is a classic portugês style restaurant. This was a recomendação from a local. Order off the chalk board. The fish was delicious. They serve a great crusty HOT roll with olive oil and garlic and salt on the plate. Not typical for Portugal. The house Vinho Verde is nice as well. Can't go wrong here. This is actually the best fish i have had in Portugal so far.

Vandaag super lekker gegeten in Atalaia.
Bijna alles vers uit eigen keuken, geen diepvries. Op is op.
Als voorgerecht heerlijk eigen gebakken brood.
Hoewel er volop verse vis was deze keer gekozen voor kalfsvlees. Vitela, een soort stifado (grieks) of boeuf bourguignon. Erbij zelf gesneden frites en de eigenaar kwam met een fles calve mayonaise ( omdat Hollanders daar altijd om vragen ) Als dessert iets.met drie smaken biscuit, pudding, room (zo lekker !!!)
Cappucino toe. Bij het eten nog halve liter witte huiswijn en biertje en dit alles voor 34 euro..zeer vriendelijke eigenaar. Van oorsprong uit Oekraïne, maar sinds 2000 in Portugal. Geen haast hebben maar genieten van uit eten gaan lijkt hier het credo.
Overigens reden wij hier rond twee uur in de middag voorbij en toen zat het bomvol met lunchgasten. Dit deed ons stoppen en op de.menukaart kijken, waardoor wij besloten hier vanavond te gaan eten. Jammer dat het onze laatste avond is, anders gingen we zeker terug.
