We have just enjoyed a week's family holiday at Villa Luz do Sol, Algarve. This Villa was perfect for our party, which included 3 small children, 6 adults, one of which has MS. Caroline, the owner was very helpful and on hand if needed. Added bonus was the use of the WAV. The pool was in use constantly and the hoist invaluable. Very spacious accommodation, clean and comfortable. We hope to return. Thanks Caroline for providing a lovely accessible Villa. Gill Naseby

We are currently (15/5/19) holidaying at Luz Do Sol in Portugal & it is everything the website says/shows it is - and more. Caroline, who we had never met until we arrived on Saturday, is a welcoming, amiable host for whom nothing is too much trouble. It is unseasonably hot at the moment and within minutes of mentioning it the air conditioning was enabled. The pool, with perfectly working hoist, has been a delight & we have happily driven the WAV (what a bonus it has been). The accessible bathroom has been carefully designed - right down to lower mirrors & clever positioning of shelves. The grass really is as green as it looks in the photos and inside is clean and fragrant. If I had a holiday home - this is how I’d like it to be - welcoming, accessible, and a beautiful place to relax. I hope we will return in the future.

Everything you’ve read is a lie. All 5* Reviews left by family&friends. Do not trust this owner. All footage fake. WAV unsafe death trap. Failed seatbelts. No working wheelchair lockdown. Lies about repairing things. Pool hoist doesn’t work. Lied about solar pool heater. Damp and mouldy walls. Mattresses in accessible room were stained, damp and mouldy stinking of rot. Floods into wheelchair bedroom in the rain. No heat allowed without excess of €120 p/w charges. Claims to give you free firewood as gesture then deceitfully takes €60 from your deposit once you’ve left the country. All advisory trips are outdated and inaccurate. Drunken and aggressive arguments until early hours beneath your bedrooms coming from her home. WiFi only available in one corner of 1 room. Bubbling spewing sewage. Looks like a building site. Owners property below is an eyesore. Crumbling walls. Blinds and curtains full with dust and don’t fit windows. Chimney blocked. Stained rotting furniture. Pillows smell of feet. Dirty pool water made kids sick. Electrical sockets covered in gaffer tape. Loose pool tiles. Not allowed to go on grass with wheelchair. I have never been so ill as I have since I got back of that holiday. I’m poisoned. Owner has no respect of privacy. She will promise you your €700 cash deposit will be returned by the time you arrive home. Smiles and waves you off apologising profusely for all the failed equipment and disappointment then fabricates damages to keep your deposit. The most despicable and dishonest person I have ever encountered. They call her Caroline. Beware!

We spent a week here with family in October 2018. The villa is fully accessible for wheelchair users. It is in a beautiful quiet setting in the hills and not far (a short drive) from amenities in Almancil. There are plenty of good restaurants if you want to eat out or excellent cooking facilities in the villa if you want to stay in. The villa is clean and tidy and there are plenty of towels. The pool is lovely and even has a hoist for disabled visitors if required. The owner, Caroline, is extremely helpful and welcoming and always available should you require any assistance or help during your stay. Having the Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle is a real bonus and we were able to get out and about very easily. The weather was a very pleasant mid-twenties and perfect at this time of year. I can recommend this as a perfect location and villa to stay and hopefully we will be able to return again in the future. As soon as we got back last year from our first stay at Luz Do Sol, I couldn’t wait to book again. I totally fell in love with this beautiful villa and it’s location. So much so, that we have booked to return in 2020. My partner, who is in a wheelchair, and I, are thinking about getting married here in this lovely setting next year. Caroline, the owner of the villa, is an absolutely amazing host and nothing is too much for her to sort. She made our first stay so enjoyable and I can’t wait to return. All my previous photos and comments stand as totally genuine.

Absolutely love this place. Have returned year after year. Very comfy and spacious with fabulous outdoor space. The owner is the wonderful Caroline - she makes this feel like home from home which is a cliché but its true. She could not be warmer or more helpful. Highly recommended!

I am a repeat visitor to Luz do Sol - I have been there 3 times now and am going again later this year - and I always have the most wonderfully relaxed time. The villa and its amenities are fantastic, the local area and places to eat and visit are wonderful and Caroline is always so helpful whenever we need anything. I would highly recommend this villa and I can't wait to go back in a few months.

This year we will be returning for our 4th stay at Luz Do Sol and can’t wait! It’s become an annual highlight since we discovered it 5 years ago. The villa is fully equipped for anyone using a wheelchair or who is disabled and this makes it an easy break for both the disabled person and their carer. Caroline is always on hand if you need anything, which without question, adds a great assurance for anyone travelling with a vulnerable person. We are always a party of 5 or 6 and the house more than comfortably accommodates us all. We love our evenings BBQing, sat around the large outdoor dining table overlooking the great view out to the ocean. Caroline is a dedicated host, who goes above and beyond to ensure you have a wonderful stay. Can’t wait to be back there!

BEWARE!!! FROM A CARERS PERSPECTIVE THIS PLACE IS NOT ANYTHING LIKE THE OWNER DESCRIBES. SHE IS A FRAUD AND A CON ARTIST. NOTHING WORKED, BLOCKED TOILETS, TIE DOWNS IN WAV NEVER WORKED, VEHICLE ITSELF WAS NOT SAFE FOR WHEELCHAIRS AT ALL. THE POOL HOIST WAS BROKEN ON ARRIVAL, DAMP &MOULDY WALLS &MATTRESSES, LEAKS AND DUST, FLOODS ON FLOOR. CARING FOR A DISABLED PERSON UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES FOR THE AMOUNT OF MONEY THAT SHE CHARGED US WAS ONLY MADE ACCEPTABLE BY HER PROFUSE APOLOGIES AND PROMISES OF REDEMPTION ONLY FOR HER TO STING US WITH OUR 700€ DEPOSIT FOR DAMAGES ONCE WE ARRIVED IN THE UK. DAMAGES THAT WERE NOT OUR DOING AND WHICH SHE ADMITTED TO BEING HER RESPONSIBILITY THROUGHOUT THE DURATION OF OUR STAY. SHE EVEN CHARGED US AN EXTRA 60€ FOR FIRE WOOD THAT WAS PRESENTED TO US AS A GOOD WILL GESTURE AS COMPENSATION FOR ALL FAILING EQUIPMENT. MY CLIENT WAS EXPOSED TO DAMP, MOULD, DUST AND BACTERIA, SINCE OUR RETURN MY CLIENT HAS BEEN HOSPITALISED. THIS IS THE MOST UN HYGIENIC AND UN SAFE PLACE DESIGNED FOR VULNERABLE PEOPLE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. THIS ACCOMPANIED WITH CAROLINES DISHONESTY AND INAPPROPRIATE DRUKEN BEHAVIOUR. HAS BEEN SUCH AND UNPLEASANT AND DISHEARTENING EXPERIENCE. (FYI POSITIVE REVIEWS HERE HAVE BEEN POSTED BY HER FAMILY/FRIENDS).

Toda a área está perfeitamente organizada, adaptada e equipada, o que foi para nós uma agradável surpresa. A responsável, Caroline, foi incansável e fez tudo ao seu alcance para que tudo corresse bem e nada nos faltasse durante a estadia. A localização é maravilhosa e a vista privilegiada. Assistimos várias vezes ao maravilhoso por dos sol. Com certeza voltaremos a recorrer a este alojamento. Obrigada Caroline.

Magnificent house, gorgeous view and everything we could possibly have needed to make my mums stay comfortable. Caroline is a warm and helpful host.

This was our second visit to the villa, as it has everything needed for an excellent accessible holiday. Caroline has really put great thought into making the holiday as stress-free as possible, from arranging the WAV pick-up from the airport to providing a Kangoo WAV for use by guests. This allowed us to go an explore the area and to have several chill-out days at the accessible beach in Vilamoura. The villa itself really makes a stay comfortable for a wheelchair user and has a fabulous location in the hills overlooking the Algarve and the sea at Quarteria and Vilamoura. Even if you do not wish to go out, the villa and it's warm pool means a restful day can be had by just staying put. The location away from built-up areas means that it is very quiet and private. Caroline is very helpful and goes out of her way to ensure we all have a great holiday, with many suggestions for places to visit. But, she also respects our privacy and let's us get on with using the villa to its full potential, but is on hand should we need assistance. Our thanks to Caroline for an excellent, stress-free holiday. We will be back.

A really wonderful place to stay in a beautiful area. Caroline the owner was more than helpful and arranged activities, took us to the local shops, told us the best place to eat were and many other helpful tip too numerous to mention. We can’t recommend this enough and if possible would give more than 5 stars.

My family has just had a wonderful 2-week holiday in Casa Luz do Sol. We would totally agree with the comprehensive review posted earlier by Charlotte Player. The villa is spacious, with a view across the hills to the sea, and the garden and terraces offer both sun or shade. Apart from the well-equipped bedroom and bathroom for a wheelchair user, mobility highlights would be the ramps, pool lift and particularly the use of a WAV. Caroline was welcoming, friendly and provided good guidance on accessibility in the area. Although we didn’t need further support, we found it reassuring that should a medical issue occur she would be there to help and translate for us. We didn’t want to leave and look forward to returning!!!

After spending 2 weeks here I couldn’t rate this villa any higher it has been beautiful from start to finish (2 days to go) and don’t want to leave. Caroline has been the best host you could wish for and her villa is everything we could of wished for

Just been to Luz do Sol for the second time this year was there in June and returned last week. I am wheelchair bound and I found this villa very accessible it suited all my needs. It was great to be able to access the pool and have a wheelchair car at your disposal. The owner which lives below the villa could not have been more helpful we had a lovely time I find the villa very peaceful and lots of good restaurants close by I would definitely recommend this villa to anyone either a wheelchair user or not it’s a great place .

Before you're able to unwind and relax, there are so many considerations when travelling with a disability; accessible transport while you're there, equipment hire vs taking half your house with you, and are there enough rooms for me, my family and my personal assistant/carer? All of these factors are made easy and put at rest by Caroline in Luz Do Sol. All of the equipment that I usually need to take with me (and more), is there. Transportation was arranged and on top of that, you can use a wheelchair accessible vehicle! Plus, there was plenty of room for my extensive family and a PA. I couldn't be happier with my holiday at Luz Do Sol and my first time exploring Portugal, including exploring the cliffs at Lagos and eating my way through every place that served glorious pastel de nata in the surrounding area. Anything that we needed or were curious about, Caroline was more than willing to help with and always generous with her time and knowledge of the area. I am so glad that she and places like this exist to make holidays, and life, that much easier. Thank you Caroline!

We've just returned from a one week break at the villa, along with my husband three children and parents, we had the most relaxing week. The villa it's self met all Tommy's needs as he's a permanent wheel chair user. He was able to navigate the whole villa and get in the pool to cool down, we used the car we was given at ease and after a short journey became very comfortable and confident driving. The villa hosts a really traditional vibe and Portuguese decor. I'm sure we will be back to stay at the villa again. Caroline went above and beyond to help us settle and answer any questions we had x

we had a fab two weeks at Luz do Sol. From start to finish Caroline was helpful, and a great host. The house suited us well as my hubbie is in a manual wheelchair and the pool was just wonderful. We both swam every day and it was a great temperature. The location is quiet and peaceful but there are lots of good restaurants within 10 minutes drive. The transfer from the airport was arranged by Caroline and is only a 20 minute ride . The house was clean and tidy when we arrived and was exactly as shown on the website. The view from the garden over to Villamoura is quite exceptional.

Excellent stay at Luz do Sol! Caroline was a great hostess and very helpful, the house is kept very well with beautiful scenes. Airport transfer went very smoothly.. when we arrived at the villa we had the use of wheel chair accessible car throughout our stay which made it very easy to explore the nearby beaches. Will defiantly be making a return.

Just returned for the second time from this fully accessible villa. I am a wheelchair user and Caroline has thought of everything to make my stay as comfortable and easy as possible. The pool hoist, car and airport transfers are perfect. This is also reinforced by my carers. I have had such a relaxing holiday and can’t wait to return again!

Cracking holiday again at this fully accessible villa. Wet room, hoist to fantastic pool, villa fully accessible and WAV to get around. Caroline the host really does the extra mile. If you read this review, reflect if you can get better facilities elsewhere? I think you will be pushed to find something comparable. Will be looking to come back soon with a wheelchair user.

Our family stayed from 1st June till the 7th of this year. It was our first time to stay here and we were not dissapointed. Marco collected us from the airport and the transfers went smoothly. We met Caroline on arrival to the villa, she was absolutely amazing and went through everything with us. The villa was beautiful and completely accessible for our profoundly disabled son who has cerebral palsy, we even managed to get him into the pool with our other chidren. We had a fantastic family holiday and will always have some fond memories. Caroline was a wonderful host who went above and beyond and really went out of her way for us on several occasions, for which we are very grateful.

I love this place!! I have just returned home from staying here and what an amazing time I had, I would highly recommend this villa! I am a repeat visitor to Luz do Sol and always get excited about coming back, this place is truly lovely and the amenities make our stay even better. Caroline goes above and beyond to make our stay the best for us, making sure we always have everything we need even before we arrive. She is always available if you need her or have any questions. The area is lovely and there is so much to do, every time we go back there are still things to explore which we haven't had chance to see. When my stay comes to an end I never want to leave and this is down to Caroline and her great hospitality. I would highly recommend Luz Do Sol and I already look forward to returning!

Loved this place,,I have worked in healthcare for 25 years assesing equipment organizing hospital discharges and this beauty provided everything I required.It was spottlesly clean,amazing setting. The owner caroline was delightful x couldn,t be more helpful ,,she went out of her way ,took us shopping when we arrived organized us some yummy take away chicken for supper on our arrival,,caroline really was an absolute star,,it was lovley we have booked again for next year,,, holiday times are so precious x costly it takes a special place to return x so pleased we have found,,,big Thank you caroline ,,see again soon

We have just returned from a very relaxing 10 days in a fantastic wheelchair accessible villa in central Algarve, Luz do sol. From the moment of first contact we felt reassured. The villa owner Caroline had arranged the airport transfer to the villa, which is included in the villa rental. When we landed we were met by Marco, our transfer with a wheelchair accessible van, then onto Luz do Sol. All in all from landing to arriving at Luz do Sol took about 45 minutes. We had a late arrival and Caroline had arranged a food pack so we could have a cup of tea when we arrived, plus takeaway chicken and chips from the local piri piri restaurant. The villa is amazing with stunning views to the Algarve coast. The tranquil setting was alive with bird life, it was paradise. We took full advantage of the WAV which was also included in the villa rental, and were blown away with the Algarve coast line, It was absolutely brilliant to have the use of this vehicle, it enabled us to explore the region with a wheelchair user which we couldn't of done without. The pool lift was another joy to have, and the villa well ramped throughout, and the villa is very spacious, and light and easy for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre. On arrival the villa was extremely clean and well maintained. Extra to the above the villa also has for wheelchair/disabled guests use - loo raisers, lower hanging rails in the wardrobes, hoist with various size slings, level access shower room and two Shower/commode chairs. We found we couldn't want for anything and felt very well looked after from our arrival to departure. Caroline was on hand whenever we needed her, which was very reassuring. I would definitely recommended this property for anyone with disabilities, absolutely 5 star. Caroline, you have taken all the stress out of travelling for wheelchair users, and we will be BACK soon!
