Um dos pontos mais altos de todo o distrito, consegue-se ver Lisboa e o Alentejo

Das absolute Highlight ist die Lage. Phantastische Rundumsicht vom Atlantik bis Lissabon. Die Zimmer sind groß und zweckmäßig eingerichtet, das Bad groß und mit Badewanne. Frühstück - das übliche wie in allen PESTANA - Hotels, nicht wirklich toll, aber ausreichend. Das Personal ist freundlich. Wer absolute Ruhe und einen Ausgangspunkt für die Erkundung des Alentejo und Lissabons sucht ist hier gut aufgehoben.

We stayed in this hotel for a wedding. The staff was very helpful and communicated thoroughly with us. The rooms were clean and medieval. It also had a beautiful church attached to it with excellent places for photo opportunities. They also had a small ceramic shop with beautiful vases. The restaurant was also attached, I did not eat there, but my friends did and they said it was delicious! I attached photos of the beautiful walkways around the castle and the wonderful view from our room.

Um belo local histórico do distrito de Setúbal, numa também pitoresca vila.
Do alto do castelo, é possível avistar soberbas paisagens, quer a sul, para o Alentejo, quer para norte, para a Estremadura e Ribatejo, sendo visíveis a cidade de Lisboa e serra de Sintra!!!
Aconcelha- se também uma visita à noite, onde é possível avistarem-se milhares de luzes espalhadas pelas várias localidades!

Es grande y más bonito de lo que parece una vez se entra. Están reparandolo pero eso no afecta a las visitas. La entrada es gratuita. Alberga una iglesia, un museo y un parador de turismo en su interior. La exposición de azulejo que se promete es un tanto decepcionante. No obstante las vistas desde su torre junto a cosas de las que hablé anteriormente lo compensan fácilmente

al llegar al hotel no había nadie en recepción, después de un buen rato esperando tuvimos que buscar un camarero que llamo para que se personase la recepcionista y a pesar de eso fácilmente otra media hora esperando, intentamos cenar y lo mismo, a la entrada del comedor nadie atendiendo, nos tuvimos que marchar a cenar fuera del establecimiento, por lo demás correcto.

Lindo demais, a historia tambem é. A paisagem e de tirar o folego!! Só o que pecou foi o restaurante Bobo da corte q fica em anexo ao castelo , nao ter vagas para o almoço e nem se quer ter um serviço de atendimento na esplanada! Ficamos desapontados pois nem uma água podiamos comprar! Falta tambem alguem para dar informações e um guia!!!

Vista fantástica tanto a Sul como a Norte. Boas zonas de circulação para um passeio, com bares e várias zonas de esplanada ao ar livre. Preços muito simpáticos para o local e bom ambiente. Dificuldades de circulação para pessoas com mobilidade reduzida mas superáveis com ajuda de acompanhante.

Castelo quase milenar. Construído sobre ruínas romanas que por sua vez foram construídas sobre outras ruínas. Impressiona. As muralhas são tão grossas que o sinal do celular desaparece, mesmo a frente de várias torres. A visão de toda a região é incrível e compreendes-se A importância estratégica da fortaleza. Vale a visita! Escolha acessar pelas estradas nacionais e aproveite o caminho pelos vinhedos.

Espaço bem cuidado. Pode percorrer todo o Castelo. É grátis ☺. A vista é soberba. Deste local o céu é o limite. Nada nos oculta a visão. São quilómetros sem fim para contemplar em todas as direcções. Nota: O estacionamento também é grátis e existem muitos lugares .

Not a four star establishment in software terms, but in hardware terms, wow! The views are magnificent, or Lisbon and it's lagoon, to the Sado river, estuary and the Troia peninsula. Additionally, the small village of Palmela below, offers some great sights!

Einen besseren Ort für eine POUSADA kann es nicht geben. Auf einer 230 Meter Anhöhe mit 360 Grad Rundumblick auf Lissabon und den Tejon. Gelegen in einem Franziskaner Konvent. Gleich neben der Burg von Palmela mit interessanten Ausstellungen. Nettes Personal, Restaurant mit traditionellen lokalen Speisen. Angemessenes Frühstücksbuffet.

Um monumento muito interessante para visitar. O castelo está situado no ponto mais alto da Vila de Palmela. (Aliás, como é/era habitual em todos os castelos)
Espaços interiores muito interessantes, referindo por exemplo ossadas e vestígios de habitações, poço de abastecimento ao castelo, igreja muito linda...etc.
Num lado, uma vista magnífica de toda a Vila e até onde a vista alcança, do outro, uma vista de igual modo, mas na direcção da cidade de Setúbal e do rio Sado no encontro com o Atlântico.

Rezension ist nur für das Restaurant! Wir waren zum Mittag da. Essen gibt es im imposanten rittersaal der Burg. Es schmeckte auch alles gut, allerdings holperte der Service ziemlich und es dauerte fast eine Stunde, bis das essen auf dem Tisch war (dabei war das Restaurant fast leer) , was für ein schnelles Mittagessen auf dem weg zum Flughafen eher ungünstig war.

DAS SCHLOSS ist Geschichtträchtig und faszinierend.
Einrichtung minimalistisch, fehlt aber an nichts. Empfangpersonal sehr aufmerksam, alle freundlich.
Frühstüch Büffet gut.
Das beste? Klimaanlage ausschalten, Fenster öffnen, Nachts-Panorama geniessen und schlafen nur mit der natürlichen Geräusche eines Naturparkes (Ohne Mücken).

Amazing place where we are always wanting to return.. we also had our wedding day here and it couldn't been so special.
Food is really good quality in the restaurant and breakfast. Staff is always with a smile. Rooms are large with great views and the all place is very clean.

Palmela é mais um exemplo de construções fortificadas e palacianas em Portugal. O Castelo de Pamela é um lugar histórico. Está muito preservado e cheio de histórias. Há ao redor ótimos cafés e restaurantes, mirante e vasto estacionamento na parte externa dos muros. Vale cada flash para registrar sua passagem por este país realmente bonito.

Sentados à mesa e apreciar os detalhes da pousada é impagável . Para relaxar após o jantar existe um espaço para disfrutar um bom moscatel de Setúbal tendo como bônus Palmela para passear e conhecer logo pela manhã depois de um belíssimo pequeno almoço servido na pousada

Fui apenas ao restaurante da pousada e não vou voltar. Absolutamente mà a refeição. Iniciei com um bisque de camarao. Não aconselho. A seguir pedi um risoto de espargos com tranche de robalo. Intragavel. Devolvi à cozinha. A sobremesa bem para esquecer tudo e mais a estrada para a pousada.

I don’t know where to begin. The room was huge with the most wonderful view of Palmela. Fernanda, Antonio, and Hugo were all excellent in helping us navigate Palmela and Lisbon. The breakfast was perfect. It is right next to the castle so it’s very easy to walk around and explore there. If you’re looking for a unique experience this is the place.

Eine tolle alte Burganlage mit einer super 360 Grad Aussicht. Mit dem Auto nur ungefähr 20 Minuten von Setubal entfernt. Der Eintritt ist kostenfrei und wir hatten Glück, dass auch nicht viele Besucher dort waren, so konnte man alles in Ruhe anschauen. Einen Parkplatz haben wir schnell gefunden und der kostet auch nichts direkt davor. Ein Besuch ist absolut zu empfehlen.

This is a great hotel in historic surroundings. Fantstic views down the castle and over the sea. Walking distance to the old town centre with little restaurants. Definitively a place to come back!

A wonderful place where we stayed with our young kids. The room was huge and very comfortable. We visited the castle in the morning and the view was beautiful. It was a great experience for all of us. Will reccomend to whoever wants to stay in a high class and unique place

Nice spot if you want some quiet time. Walking and mountain biking. Setubal and Sesimbra a 30/45 min drive away. Breakfast was disappointing although dinner was good.

Great place to stay before heading to the airport. The location is fantastic, with amazing views of Santarem. The castle and grounds are fun to explore. The check-in process was smooth and comfortable with plush armchairs to sit in. Parts of the hotel felt ancient (in a good way) and the room was nice, with double doors which made it so I never heard my neighbors coming / going from their rooms. The dinner was a bit pricey, but quite delicious. I recommend the goat cheese, honey, walnut, puff pastry appetizer. Breakfast was also quite tasty with a wide variety of options. Highly recommended.

Experiência terrível! Fiquei completamente desiludida. Nódoas abundantes nos sofás estilosos, cama com mantas duvidosas. E a casa de banho, habitat perfeito para os hóspedes fungos. No restaurante a comida era tão má, que quis falar com o chefe. Estava de folga ! O grupo Pestana, que eu admiro, tem que dar um "Olhinho' neste espaço, abandonado , mal gerido, pois acho que o lindo castelo de Palmela , merece. Os estrangeiros lá hospedados devem ficar com uma ideia errada de Portugal neste castelo , tão mau anfitrião. Fugi bem cedo , depois de uma noite atormentada (as mantas tinham coisinhas estranhas) . O pequeno almoço... lá ficou!

To begin with, I myself work in a hotel and the experience I had in the Pousada is one I am deeply disappointed with. The room was way smaller than what shown in the pictures and was dirty in many places. There where spiderwebs and spiders in more than one corner and broken tiles in the bathroom. On the living room's ceiling there were water infiltration stains that they did not bother painting.
The bed and pillows were uncomfortable and clearly of low quality.
One of the window was not closing properly so there was a draft of air coming in.
The staff was non caring and incompetent.
I called the hotel about a week before arrival and asked if was possible to have some gluten and soy free breakfast for my wife as she is intollerant and they told me that was not a problem at all and that they will have some options for her.
On the day of arrival I reminded them about it and once again they told me they had the note about it and they had some bread, cookies and cakes for my wife. So we asked to have breakfast delivered in our room for the next morning as was our wedding day and didn't have time to come down, and once it came we got told that they did not have any of those gluten free products at that moment and they will bring it to us one hour later. Obviously that was already very bad service but what is worst is that they actually never brought us anything and neither they apologised for it. So we asked again for the next day if would be possible to have anything for my wife at all and again we got promised some products, only this time they had some gluten free bread but that had soy in it, so was useless to us.
Coincidentally, another guest had the same issue and was kind enough to share some bread that she had brought herself.
It goes without saying that this place is one we will never come back to, never recommend to anyone and is unbelievably bad value for money. Never again in this horrible place of nightmares.
It is worth to mention that a three star hotel in Setubal where we stayed earlier that week had way more competent staff, they had all the allergens free products that we requested and fantastic service, all for a fraction of the price that the Pousada charges.

Loved the castle and everything about our stay, it isn't everyday you can stay in a castle and this was a treat. The only problem is the local train station, no one works there and we could have had trouble getting a lift to the castle had another couple not called a taxi for us.

Great stay. Helpful and friendly staff. Corner Room 206 had great views in two directions from a fantastically high view point. Our visit co insided with a Wine & Jazz festival in the castle which was an added bonus. Food was lovely but not cheap eats. Really enjoyed our stay. If driving follow signs to the Pousada and drive up the cobbled Castle ramps ignore the yellow barrier that will be blocking the route.The car park is at the top.

We were delighted with the Pousada Castelo de Palmela. We were given a twin room which was very spacious, delightfully decorated with stunning views of the castle and countryside. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was delcious, the building is stunning, the courtyard a delight to sit in. We could go on and on. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Muita história e cultura a ser aprendida.
Boas lojas, à excessão da Taberna Bobo da Corte, com atendentes simpáticos e solícitos.
O que mais gostei foi a quantidade de portugueses visitando o local.

Just wow! This was the best and most unique hotel we ever stayed at. It’s located in a beautiful castle and offers amazing views. The rooms are clean and breakfast is excellent (includes Champagne, fresh juices and good coffee). Highly recommend this hotel!

This was my second stay at this Castle -- the first was about 15 years ago. This Pousada is well-managed, comfortable, and has both an excellent restaurant for dinner, and serves a very good (and varied) breakfast.The staff was very helpful when we wanted to visit Lisbon without driving into the city. The taxi ride from the Pousada to the train station costs about 15 Euro each way, but the train into the city (sete rios -- by the zoo, and close to a metro station) is only 8.5 Euro for two (ask at the desk for the blank ticket you can use at the train station). There is a train once an hour that goes into Lisbon -- leave the Pousada for the station at least 30 minutes ahead of the trains scheduled arrival if you use a taxi. Take a short trial drive to the station if you choose to leave your vehicle in the trains free and safe parking lot).If you choose to take a taxi, plan on waiting at least 30 minutes at the train station for a cabs arrival -- and unless you speak Portuguese, call the Pousada and ask them to call a cab for you.All in all, we had a most enjoyable experience.

Замок Палмела (Castelo de Palmela) расположен в округе Сетубал, в восточных предгорьях хребта Аррабида. В ясные дни с вершины его башни даже видно Лиссабон.
Построенный на высоте 240 метров над уровнем моря, этот величественный замок с момента своего основания играл важную роль в истории Португалии. Как полагают, название местности Раlmela происходит от имени римского военачальника и консула I-II века Авла Корнелия Пальмы Фронтониана (Aulus Cornelius Palma Frontonianus). Ему и приписывают основание форта. Археологи также установили, что часть стены замка была построена маврами... Так или иначе, почти двухтысячелетняя история этой крепости изобилует многочисленными событиями, которые отразились на её облике.
В ходе Реконкисты замок Палмелы неоднократно переходил их рук в руки - от мавров к христианам, и наоборот. Причина тому - исключительное стратегическое месторасположение крепости. Противники португальцев - представители династии Альмохадов и халиф Абу Юсуф Якуб аль-Мансур - понимали, что не смогут взять Лиссабон, не закрепившись в Палмеле.
Когда замок Палмела все же окончательно был отвоеван, король Саншу I пожаловал его рыцарскому ордену Сантьяго-де-Эспада. Именно рыцари должны были охранять от неприятеля южные подступы к столице.
Благодаря усилиям Ордена замок был усилен и укреплен дозорными башнями цилиндрической формы. Кроме того, на территории замка была создана разветвленная сеть подземелий и цистерна для воды, которые от случая к случаю использовали как казематы для пленения государственных мятежников. Легенды ходили и о сокровищах мавров, которые рыцари отвоевали и хранили в тайниках замка.
Самые грандиозные строительные работы в замке производились при короле Жуане I в начале XV века. Именно с высот замка Палмелы жители Лиссабона и новый король Жуан Ависский увидели сигнальные огни - костры, зажженные по приказу Великого коннетабля Нуну Алвареша Перрейры, как знак того, что войска португальцев только что выиграли битву при Атолейруше, что вызвало огромное ликование в столице…
В правление короля Жуана I португальские рыцари Ордена Сантьяго окончательно отделились от своего кастильского руководства и основали в крепости Палмелы монастырь, при котором было построено много прекрасных церковных зданий.
В XVII веке в ходе Войны за независимость замок был модернизирован. Его окружили сетью бастионов, адаптированных под использование артиллерии.
Во время землетрясения 1755 года замок сильно пострадал. А в 1864 году в Португалии были упразднены все религиозные ордена. Имущество монастыря Сантьяго было национализировано.
Сейчас все сооружения замка находятся под охраной государства как национальный памятник Португалии и музей. Церковь Сантьяго (Igreja de Santiago) XV века, руины церкви Санта Мария ду Каштелу (Igreja Santa Maria de Castelo) XII века, часы на колокольне (Relogio e Reserva Visitavel "Escultura S. Tiago") производства 1752 года, терраса, с которой в древности велись наблюдения за небесными светилами, башни и бастионы, а также здание монастыря Сантьяго - все эти памятники истории заслуживают внимания. Very cool. You must stay at a Pausada. This one is much more reasonable than others and it was a very nice accommodation; the room was very spacious ,the staff was excellent and the food was excellent too. We purchased dinner there and it was one of our best meals on our entire trip ; we also had a wonderful breakfast included next to the courtyard since it was already cool outside ; visited in late October 2017 Do not miss this! The views are incredible and And then you can tell all your friends you stayed in a castle! then you can tell all your friends you stayed in a castle
