It’s hard to avoid superlatives with this wonderful wine bar. BA Wine Bar is a little off the beaten path, but like anything special, worth the extra steps. The place is cozy and intimate. The painting on the ceilings give the place regal feel. The owner has a special combination of encyclopedic wine knowledge, a novelists storytelling skill, and Portuguese warmth. My wife and I sampled 5 or 6 wines before settling on a glass as the evening started. We ordered the large mixed meat and cheese plate, and ho! It arrived with 5 different kinds of meats and an equal variety of cheeses, olive oils, finishing salt, and jam. This was perhaps the apotheosis of meat and cheese experiences we’ve had. To finish we ordered the port flight and were totally immersed in the variety, history, and sense experience of port. This was the best wine experiences of our visit to Lisbon.
