Positives: The pick up from the airport was very easy, didn’t need to wait long at all and they returned us to the airport without any time waits or dramas. The staff were very friendly and warm. Via email also they would send us things to do in Lisbon and were very accommodating! Can’t say anything negative about the friendly staff members and the man who drove us to the airport was very warm and professional. Also the van was very easy to drive. The WiFi was good. Negatives: Being two aussies who camp and travel in our vans a lot, we knew what we were hoping for! Considering it was winter, we feel it was completely over priced! The bed slate was dodgy and kept falling down and caving in and we only had one blanket for winter. It was freezing at night! The pillows were horrible and barely “pillows” that 3 out of 5 nights of having the van, we actually booked accommodation in the cities we visited and if we had done that from the beginning, we would of saved around €500. Highly rated resorts were as low as €20-€40 in winter. This van MIGHT be a better option in summer since all accommodation goes up but in winter we feel unfortunately that it cost way way wayyyy too much and without the van we could of saved so much more money to use on all exclusive 5 star resorts.

We loved our Indi camper van life however there were a few issues with Indiecampers. They were prompt at picking us up from the airport. It was great being able to park in almost all areas of Portugal and Spain as long as it did not have a no stopping or no overnight sign. The vans had good fuel economy (fuel in Spain was A LOT cheaper than Portugal). We started with the indie sports camper but had a lot of issues. - the central locking system did not work due to a flat key. The team said they could not replace it so we had to deal with it. This was not safe as we could not lock the van during the night. - The indie campers team at Porto did not provide us with the key for the water tank (which we were not aware of for a few days). When we called to sort this the “Zoey” team were very rude on the phone saying that I was not opening it correctly. When they realised we were missing the right key They then accused us of losing it and said this would cost us around €50. Turned out it was their issue and combined with the locking problem they said we had to return to porto to change vans. Luckily we managed to change this to bilbao however it meant we skipped a part of our planned trip to get the issues sorted promptly. - There seemed to be very very poor communication between management / “zoey” and the pick up locations. Following our issues we required a van swap, We arrived after being told we would have an upgrade to get the same van. This caused more than 1 hour of mucking around waiting for the team to sort this out. When dropping the new van back at the end of our trip the Porto team spent a while figuring out why we didn’t have our original van that was on their records and lots of time calling management again. - Both vans (sporty and active plus) had many issues. Big scratches, broken mirrors, sink hose that wasn’t connected properly, the water tank was very difficult to open and close, the sink cupboard was broken that we had to fix, hooks missing for the blinds, poor gas burner efficiency, bald and low pressure in the tires, no water in windscreen washes, fly mesh broken in they sky lights. This lead us to believe that they didn’t completely respect our safety and are more in it for the money/ are not currently able to keep up with demand. ( I’m sure they had a big pay out from the customer who broke the side mirror but hadn’t fixed it). Our view of both the sporty and active plus: - sporty was great for 2 people or 2 adults and 2 children. The lower bed was harder than the top and could get frustrating having to change it each night between bed and chairs for a long trip. The back seats were very low and far back so you didn’t get as good of a view compared to the active plus. The seatbelts frequently got jammed on the sporty. - the active plus had shorter beds than the sporty as you sleep side ways in the van. It was a bit of a squeeze and had to sleep diagonally in the active plus as our partners where 6.3foot and 6.2 foot. The sporty didn’t have this issue as you slept lengthways with the van. The pillows were really bad, we bought our own. - The hot shower in the active plus only works when plugged into electricity. All in all we would hire again from indie campers, however would do an even more thorough check of the van before leaving their dock and document/ film the whole thing. We would spend more money to hire the active plus as we enjoyed not having to set up our beds each night and we preferred the set up of the seats. The slight extra length of the van did not alter where we parked compared to the sporty. We would suggest buying fairy lights for a nice little touch. - Thanks indiecampers.

Very helpfull and friendly(office Bilbao and Sevilla). Was our first CamperVan experience, and definetly gonne repeat. And because it was low season, the guy from the Sevilla office(industrial zone), brought us to our hotel in the centre. The Van was very clean and well maintained. We had the Active Plus. In winter season, definetly rent or buy a small heater. The extra Wifi was very handy as we were using our phones as GPS.

TIP: maak veel foto's van de camper voordat je vertrekt. Zo beperk je achteraf de kans op onenigheid. Zoals waar ik tegenaan liep. Jammer, want vooraf was de communicatie en omgang zeer prettig. Ik kreeg een camper mee met veel schade rondom. Van onder tot boven en van voor na achter zat de camper onder de krassen en deuken. En bij inlevering meende ze kras 101 te hebben gevonden.

Great experience traveling trough the north of Portugal.I was the first time getting into a van and it was awesome. Customers service was great and helpful. Highly recommended for adventures in the mountains or beaches.

We were 4 adults traveling through the "Geres National Park" in the north part o Portugal with a "Motorhome". The experience was amazing, the van was in very good shape, the staff at Indie Campers were very helpful, nice and dedicated. Rented a van for 4 days from the 'new' depot in Brussels. We picked it up and drove trough Austria and Germany, what an awesome experience! The van was compact but is perfect for a couple, wouldn't recommend it for more that 2 people though. The staff at the depot were very helpfull, friendly and easy to contact via email. The van was pretty damaged on the outside(but I guess that is normal if you rent it out to so many different people) so make sure they write down all the damage. The drop off was quick and easy. We had so much fun and will definitely do this again!

Had a great 2 week holiday in the Active Plus. Only that hard and thin mattress....We put 2 mattresses on 1 bed....but even then it was still like sleeping on a plain concrete floor. Also the cheap pillows (at home you would use them for decoration only) didn't help for a good restfull night. If only Indie Campers would invest a little bit more in these things, you're holiday would be unforgettable with no pain in your body. Hopefully next time i can give 5 stars :)

Bastante insatisfeita. Infelizmente tivemos o azar de dar um pequeno toque com a carrinha e cobraram-nos o dobro do valor da reparação (inclusive pedimos um orçamento de uma oficina no país em questão que foi significativamente mais baixo). Além disso alteraram os valores do seguro já depois de termos feito a reserva e pagamento de uma parte da carrinha. Atenção também ao pagamento final, se não tivéssemos verificado e solicitado o descritivo do valor na tura, teriam-nos tirado +50€ que depois acabaram por ser devolvidos. Em suma, para além dos preços astronómicos por uma carrinha que cheira a esgoto, adoptam este tipo de práticas bastante desonestas. Não recomendo a experiência!

Terrible!!Not happy with the service we received through out our trip and the campervan was not in good shape as the back seats did not have operating seat belts. It was a hazard as we travelled with our child. Overall, we didnt receive any assistance nor did we receive an apology/discount for a mistake that was made in our booking that had us stressed throughout our trip.

Excellent. We hired a campervan for 2 weeks and received fantastic service. The vehicle was great, there are lots and lots of available extras to take with you on your trip. Best of all - their prices are great value.

Great concept and fantastic if you are adults with a sense of adventure and want to travel Europe. The Active Plus isn't great if you are travelling with kids in the summer as the vans don't have brilliant ventilation or a/c in the rear so they get very hot. Highly recommend taking your own video of the condition of the van at pick as they tend to be a number of bumps and scrapes and you don't want to get caught out for something you didn't do. Also worth checking the collection location when booking - although they meet you at the airport they may want to take you to a depot (ours was 45mins away!) in order to do the paperwork and show you around the van.

As a first-time camper van renter, I do NOT recommend Indie Campers for 2 main reasons: 1) Dishonesty. I'm convinced that that the company profits hugely from scratches and dents caused by newbie van drivers like myself who think they're insured adequately (the vans are quite difficult to maneuver, especially in city streets, if you're not used to driving large vans). They charged me 900 EUR for a scratch and dent near the back right bumper, which I felt was arbitrarily calculated and predatory. Turns out that the insurance is basically worthless, and upon assessing damages they pulled out a very detailed list of fines specific to every section of the vehicle. This list was not shared with me upfront when we had the insurance conversation, leading me to believe I was covered for knicks and scratches to the vehicle body. Moreover, after examining the damages cost list more closely, I learned that almost half of the 900 EUR fine covers just the branded sticker they put over the van! Crazy. 2) Bad on little things. The pillows are terrible -- probably not replaced in years (a decent pillow is important when sleeping on a very thin cushioned makeshift bed), the coffee maker was broken, one tire was completely bald, and they forgot to pack a BBQ grill that I'd paid for. To be fair, they do get phone customer service right -- but they either neglected or cut corners on so many small things that altogether caused my family discomfort and inconvenience. Ultimately, we still had a great time touring Portugal in a camper van. I recommend the camper van experience to anyone with an adventurous travel spirit -- my only advice would be to choose another van rental company. Go with someone smaller but more honest, transparent and with a greater attention to detail. The vans are all the same, but it's the rest of the experience that will be better.

DRIVER BEWARE: Indie Campers does not have an adequate insurance policy for foreign travelers. Even if you buy TOTAL (comprehensive) insurance through them, it does not cover the ENTIRE vehicle; a costly mistake that my wife and I learned the hard way. As non-native drivers, it is asking a lot to maneuver a large vehicle in a foreign country where you are not familiar with the driving laws, customs and roadways. We, of course, weren't explicitly told about the insurance policy until we arrived to pick up the camper-van, after our entire vacation was already planned. As a result, we will not use Indie Campers again and I would not recommend anyone else does until they change their insurance policy. I did express my thoughts when THEY contacted me with a post-trip evaluation but have yet to hear from them weeks later, hence, this review. If you proceed and rent with them anyway, just be aware of their faulty insurance policy. Word to the wise: if you are renting an rv or any vehicle, ask specific questions about the insurance before booking and take lots of pictures at pickup.

Bonjours, nous avons loué un van pour 10 jours en Espagne, et nous n’avons eu aucune mauvaise surprise, très satisfait, accueil chaleureux et professionnel.

Hi you all. It will get a bit longer to read my evaluation of IndieCampers based on 4000 km from south to north Italy by winter. I got the RV (Active Plus) at Roma Depot during the low season (13 days in December). Initially, it was a dream to travel by RV for my first time and the problems go on. Our first problem was the temperature of the van during the winter. It is impossible to stay at RV without insulation, no heater system inside; except a normal heater, rented as Extra that made no difference at night. I recommend do not rent Active Plus in winter, you will be in trouble. Second: small problems. The front light bulb of the right side of the RV was burned, I had to change my trip to find a car mechanic: a day lost. Also, I got another problem, the keys did not turn on the Ducato at night in a dark nowhere. After calling the IndieCampers support, I listened that this problem is well known by attendants, they advised me to shake the steering wheel of the car. And it worked. Now I know that loaded errors passed ahead. Third and of high importance. The insurance is only for glass windows and tires. Their insurance does not cover LDW / CDW nor your credit card insurance will cover any damage because you rented a "recreative car". This was my nightmare. I rented 13 days by December/2019 for 767€ and standard insurance by 247€, more than 1014€ with other Extras. And prepare yourself for a small damage in the car as >10 cm scratch in the roof that it will cost 959€ (photos attached). This nightmare was made without chance to get three budgets by auto body and paint services in Italy. No chance to discuss the costs with them. They will answer: " These costs take into consideration time that the campervan needs to be stopped, time spent by staff resolving the issue, time that we cannot rent out the vehicle due to the damages, the damages themselves, differences from mechaednical costs from all over Europe, relocation costs, the drop in value in our product due to damage, and other potential costs." This is the worst answer that I received so far. I received a RV with lots of scratches on the car body that are registered in the signed contract. The scratches did not stopped the car. The car was passed ahead for another renter. It was 959€ for a small scratch, a value three times higher than the market. Also, they pointed out this is a "standard value in the rental industry". This completely disappointed me and I am thinking about how they are not honest to get the client position made only by terms and conditions (11.3 item) that I did not have time to read. They have a hidden "Rental Firm table prices" for damages, you will not find on the website, only in Depot. A bad practice that made not clear the unfair costs. After all, I do not recommend and discourage who is thinking to rent a car with these guys. I hope IndieCampers change the practices and insurance for better relationships with their clients. My third point was decisive to evaluate down IndieCampers. You that are reading my evaluation do not deserve this headache.

Terrible experience! We got scammed by IndieCampers - even though we purchased the best insurance policy that's suppose to cover any damage, this small dent that appeared on our van was charged on 800€ on us! We couldn't believe it! We got charged as it was broken or all torned off. Also, the van kept spilling water inside a lot, some of the van equipment didn't function properly forcing us to not being able to shower in the van for some days

It was a spectacular trip. We traveled in an atlas which is very comfortable and spacious. Everything went perfectly. Thanks to Indiecampers for the excellent service. Experience to repeat.

No service, car broke down on motorway. We had to stay on the motorway over night. First toll service after 8h. Never again.

We used Indie Campers for our road trip in Portugal - picking up in Lisbon and dropping off in Seville. What a fantastic experience! The Lisbon depot is a short walk from the train station and pick up was so smooth and well run - I was super impressed. The van had everything we needed and we loved how there was a bin full of condiments that people had left behind that you could use for your trip (i.e. salt and pepper etc). Drop off was super fast and equally as easy. All the staff we interacted with were genuinely such great, friendly people!! We wouldn't hesitate to use Indie Campers again :)

Fantastische Alternative Mein Laufteam und ich wollten an einem Hindernislauf teilnehmen. In näherer Umgebung der Event Location gab es jedoch kein Hotel oder sonstige Unterkünfte. So wurde die Idee vom ausleihen eines Indie Campers geboren. Alles lief problemlos ab. Wir wurden am Flughafen abgeholt, zum Depot gefahren, bekamen eine Einweisung und schauten uns die bereits vorhandenen Schäden an. Sandra war dabei eine riesige Hilfe. Der Van war perfekt Für unsere Bedürfnisse: 2 Betten, Dusche, Kühlbox und genug Platz Auch der Rückgabevorgang war simpel und zügig und ich wurde an der nahen Zugstation abgesetzt und war nach 45 min wieder in Barcelonas Zentrum. Danke Indie Camper für die tolle Möglichkeit. Bitte macht so weiter ❤️ Großes Lob.

Na początku ogólny chaos jednakże Francesco nam wynagrodził nasz stracony czas. Co do samego kampera duży, wygodny i czysty. Brakowało nam tylko większej lodówki ta wystarczyła tylko na małe piwka. Ciepłej wody tez bym nie oczekiwał pod prysznicem który jest opcją. Łóżka wygodne. Ogólnie jesteśmy zadowoleni z obsługi. Ponowne skorzystanie z Waszych usług to tylko -10% promocji cenowej poza sezonem co uważam za nie wystarczające.

Stay away from Indie Campers Wir sind zwei Wochen durch Portugal gefahren und hatten das Modell Sporty. Der Wagen wurde uns verschmutzt (Fußspuren an der Decke), kaputt (Risse im Polster) mit vielen Dellen und Beulen an der Karosserie übergeben. Innen waren abgefallene Möbelteile mit Kabelbindern und Heißklebepistole "repariert" worden. Das Bettzeug war billigster Qualität und viel zu dünn. Der dazu gemietete Campingtisch hatte seine beste Zeit hinter sich. Der von der vermietenden Firma selbst initiierte Innenausbau des Fiats Dukato wirkt unprofessionell und ist stellenweise ist unfunktional: an manche Staufächer kommt man erst heran, wenn man andere vorher leerräumt. Nach zwei Tagen gab der Kühlschrank seine Kühlfunktion auf. Eine Bettwanzeninvasion aus dem unteren Teil des Campers (Bettzeug?) beendete dann unseren Aufenthalt im Camper abrupt. Wir zogen um ins Hotel. Das "Beste" an diesem Urlaub war jedoch der Kontakt mit der Hotline von Indiecampers. Hier wurde uns erzählt, das Lämpchen am Kühlschrank leuchte doch, also sei er funktionsfähig und unsere 100 Stiche von Bettwanzen seien Flohbisse, die wir uns selbst draußen auf dem Feld geholt hätten. Kurz, unsere Mängelmeldungen wurden schlichtweg ignoriert. Fazit für uns: Wenn Wohnmobil, nie wieder bei Indiecampers.

I dealt with staff in Barcelona and Milan depo super super friendly. They have helped us in hard situation when we needed them the most and did a 100% to leave to satisfy completely, I couldn't expect eny more from customer service. Other companies should learn. Special thanks for Zoey form reservations, Ricardo from barcelona and that guy in Milan depo (unfortunately I cant remember his name) 100% recommended company definitely I will use them again if it comes to camper rental.

Location is really bad and they won't drop you at your terminal, so it's not really an airport shuttle. T4 is upto one hour from other terminals. Beware. Van itself was great and staff nice enough.

Totale abzoke Meine Schwester hatte zur selben Zeit einen andern besseren Van und zahlte 500 Euro weniger. Die Surfbretter sind zum mieten teurer als ein Neues zu kaufen (2 wochen miete). Meins ging kabutt und ich musste ein Neues kaufen. Somit habe ich am Schluss 2 gekauft und ihnen ein neueres zurückgegen. Fazit: totale Abzoke

I had ordered surf Board rental, and Then was no board available. On My mails for info I got no answers also locally no real recommendations (but this was offered by indi camper). Van was not cleaned and prepared for handover to us. There was no service done inside. Screws was loose and holders falling away. And finally we was stopped by police because services with camper was not done in time.

STAY AWAY! RENT ELSEWHERE!!! Our 80,000km used Volkswagen California KEY BROKE from repetitive use amongst previous renters. Instead of Indie Campers providing us a working reliable key, they made us pay 417 EURO's!!!! For a damaged key which fell apart in my hand second day in. VAN left us stranded on the road. Had to figure out alternate ways to start the van using a broken key. (Indie Campers' advice was to glue it??!?!) Why did we bother paying extra insurance for the van if they make you pay for something which is expected to work. READ THE FINE PRINT before you sign and see what you are covered for. Whats next?!?! I gotta pay for a tire change?!! Maintain your vehicles Indie Campers and clean your interior!! Or get rid of older used up vehicles!!!! They will take your money everyway they can. Extremely poor customer service. Instead of helping us out, with their customer hotline, woman named ANNIE gave us attitude and complete disrespect when we needed help the most. Damaged key (became our knowledge 2 days into road trip) Van had soiled upholestry. Pet hair. No water hose to fill water. Holes in the upper tent lining covered in Duct tape. No extra fees?... B*llshit! Read the fine print! Broken shelving/cabinets. Van full of scratches and dings! Make sure you check everything before they make you pay for SOMEONE ELSES DAMAGES! Offer free shuttle to and from facility at pickup/drop off, but charge you extra 79Euros if shuttle falls between certain hours. (Not mentioned or written in the contract) Overall, Incredible experience driving around southern Europe and camping in a van for 2 weeks. But, I'll NEVER RECOMMEND renting from this poorly run company. ALL SHOW until they have your money, then you are on your own if you need help. STAY AWAY!!! Rent elsewhere!!

Muito mau inicialmente mas depois tudo se resolveu.

Don‘t go Indi. Selten so ein Enttäuschung erlebt. Meine Freundinn und ich sind 16 Tag mit de Camper durch Portugal gefahren. Der ganze Innenbereich war stark verschmutzt. Wir Mussten zuerst mal alles selber reinigen. Auf dem Geschirr konnte man teilweise sogar noch Essensrückstände erkennen. Aus der Dusche kam gelegentlich ein übler Duft wärend dem fahren raus. Trotz mehrfacher leerung des Schmutzwassertankes wurde es nicht besser. Der Kühlschrank stank zwei zimlich unangenehm und er war noch gefüllt mit einer gelben klebrigen Flüssigkeit. Hoffe es war eine Fanta. Am sechsten Tag ist er dan noch aus der billig angefertigten Halterung geflogen. Das Wlan wo wir für zusätzliche 40Euro mieten mussten war am 2 Tag Defekt. Als wir dan, nach einem grösseren Umweg, ein neues Wlan in Lissabon bekommen haben und dafür einen halben Tag verlohren haben, ging es keine 24 h und das zweite war auch Defekt. Ladet euch lieber ein Datenpaket fürs Phone runter, was erstens billiger ist und dazu noch funktioniert. Alle Camper die wir in der Station sahen waren von aussen etwa gleich stark verbeult und ungepflegt. Am Amaturenbrett lief mal irgend ein Klebrige flüssigkeit runter das bis jetzt anscheinend noch niemand gestört hat. Ich war schon in ganz Europa auf Montagen und hatte schon viele Mietautos für Einsätze vor Ort gemietet und egal was für ein Auto ich mietete, noch nie musste ich mich eklen. Doch es gibt wie ich herausgefunden habe immer ein erstes mal. Meine Freundinn und ich sind echt nicht heikel wen es um Schmutz geht und ich lebte dazu noch Jahrelang in einer Männer WG, aber dieser Camper war teilweise auch für zuviel des guten. Schon am ersten Tag sagte ich zu meiner Freundinn das ich nicht glaube das der Indi-Camper 16 Tage überlebt da er einfach schon zimlich verbraucht aussah. Am zweitletzten Tag ist er dan stehen geblieben und wir haben vier Stunden auf Hilfe gewartet. Durften dan in ein Hotel was Indi bezahlt hat, aber nicht teurer sein durfte als eine Tagesmiete des Campers. Haben am nächsten Tag leider einen Ersatzwagen gekriegt der den ersten Camper sogar noch übertroffen hat. Wir waren per mail mit den Verantwortlichen in Kontakt und die haben so zimlich alles runter gespielt. Es gab lediglich auf eine über 2000Euro teure Rechnung, 150Euro Entschädigung zurück und 40Euro fürs nie richtig funktionierende Wlan. Unsere Fazit: Portugal ist ein wunderschönes Land das ich jedem epfehle zu bereisen. Auch die Portugiesen selber sind herzensliebe Menschen. Doch wir würden lieber auf einer Parkbank schlafen und dafür sogar noch paar Euro bezahlen als nochmals eine Nacht in einem Indi-camper zu überleben. Erläuterung zu der Bildergalerie. Bild 1: Klebriger, stinkender Kühlschrank Bild 2: 1 mal durch ein kleines Schrankfach gewischt Bild 3: Zweites Schrankfach war noch schlimmer Bild 4: Verklebte Armatur Bild 5: Einmal mit einem Feuchtetuch durch den Topf gewischt. Bild 6: Mit einem Feuchte-Tuch unter den Füssen über den Innenboden gelaufen. Das wo ihr sieht waren nicht unsere Füsse die Sauber waren sondern der Boden von Ekel äähh sorry Inidicamper Macht NICHT den gleichen Fehler wie wir!

Een geweldige ervaring dankzij een geweldig team van Indie.

We just finished our Scotland trip in an Indie Camper Atlas. It was our first time travelling in a camper, and it was fantastic. This is the way we'll travel going forward in camper friendly countries. Phil, the depot manager picked and dropped us off in Edinburgh, while providing great service and tips on using the vehicle. This depot just opened in June, so the camper along with the extras are all just a month old. We were provided with almost everything we needed for the trip (bedding, cookware, plates and utensils). My suggestion for improvements would be to provide the basics such as: oil, salt, pepper, coffee and tea. Above and beyond could be laundry detergent and dryer sheets. We bought all the of items mentioned, only to have used a bit of each while leaving the rest behind. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. I give lots of compliments to Phil for starting this depot up in just a month, to be able to provide such smooth and friendly service while he was probably stressed about a number of things that required his attention. Thanks Phil!

We had a wonderful experience. Picked up a camper van in Frankfurt and dropped our off in Paris. The rates was competitive. Staff that helped us were extremely helpful. They made great suggestions and provided helpful ideas that saved us time and money. I only wish the camper vans were all automatic instead of manual.

We had a very enjoyable vacation with an Indie Campers van. Both the service and the van was top notch.

Fantastic trip with Indie campers. Clean and tidy van and very helpful staff. The van was easy to drive. We had hot weather so no problem with space, it may have been a bit of a squeeze if we had had rain.

We hired an Indie campervan from Australia for Croatia.The entire hiring process went without a glitch. The van itself was very comfortable but the interior fittings were very flimsy. Also, there was no GPS which was a disappointment. However, the overall hiring service was amazing. Our rep Helena was extremely helpful and went totally out of her way to accomodate us. Her service went beyond & above and for that we are grateful. She deserves 5 stars.

Fantastic experience. Alexandra in the Amsterdam warehouse was awesome. Fantastic to work with. Rented the VW California van. Van performed perfectly. Traveled through Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and Austria. The two week vacation was amazing. Check in and check experience was great and Alexandra was very accommodating. We rented an Indie Camper to to Glastonbury from Dublin and it was fantastic. The quality, comfort and cleanliness of the van, the value for money and the customer service were all 5 star. Any questions we had were dealt with in a quick and friendly manner over the phone, email or WhatsApp. It was our first time ever renting or using a camper van we were delighted with the experience. We will definitely use Indie again and highly recommend them.

worst ever booking experience no explanations t pick up the van, no advisory extra fee to pick up the van after 17:00. i Thought it was in Lisbon center ans was able to pick up at 13:00. after a call, I learned it was 1h from the center and could go at the end of my working day. I arrived at 17:45 after a long way to go and be charged a 79€ fee . this is more than unfair, nothing is clearly said in the booking details, nothing is clearly said in the website terms and conditions and just to estimate the quality of this great company, I've paid 4 days for three days use. Thank you

Si no quieres vivir una mala experiencia, no alquiles con ellos JAMAS. Pedro es el encargado portugués en Sevilla, y se nota que tiene experiencia CERO, además de que habla poco el español. Para empezar, un par de días antes nos cambiaron la furgoneta que habíamos cogido, y además nos quitaron un día, por lo que tuvimos que pasar una noche imprevista en Sevilla. El seguro a todo riesgo estaba en un precio cuando contratamos, y cuando fuimos a recogerla habían cambian las tarifas y valía más del doble. Nos querían cobrar 25 euros por la limpieza. El depósito de aguas sucias no lo vaciaron, y el agua sale por el agujero de la ducha con pelos y todo, por lo que estuvimos dos días aguantando los malos olores, y duchandonos fuera, debido a la suciedad de pelos y agua sucia de la ducha. Al ser nuestra primera vez, no nos dimos cuenta que ese era el motivo. El depósito de agua tampoco nos lo dieron lleno, y la primera noche nos quedamos sin agua y sin poder ducharnos. Por teléfono Pedro tampoco te da ninguna solución ni te pide disculpas. La furgoneta estaba de golpes por todos lados cuando nos la entregaron, y nos querían cobrar alguno que no era nuestro, OJO. Tiene nevera, pero enana, apenas cabe una botella de agua y si la enciendes con el motor parado, se acaba la batería en un par de horas. La cama se movía mucho porque el soporte estaba roto. La primera botella de gas, también se acabó en un par de días, estaba medio vacía. OJO con esto: no dan manguera para llenar el tanque de agua!!! Tuvimos que pedir una manguera prestada en cada sitio en el que repostamos. Les dijimos que íbamos a Portugal y tampoco te explican cómo pagar los peajes, si la matrícula es española, es fácil, pero en este caso la furgoneta tenía matrícula portuguesa, una odisea!!! En fin, una malísima experiencia por culpa de una empresa poco profesional. BUSCAD EN OTRO LADO.

Wirklich alles top ! Hatten von Alex tolle Tipps für die Küste bekommen und den active plus top erklärt bekommen. Die bereits vorhandenen Macken im Auto haben wir gemeinsam dokumentiert und somit fiel auch die Rückgabe problemlos aus Die Matratzen im Camper sind nunmal kein Himmelbett- ist aber stets bei allen so. Waren eine Woche auf Sardinien unterwegs und alles war super. Sehr nettes Personal bei übergäbe des Campers. Wir wurden auch vom Fährenhafen abgeholt und wieder hingefahren.

Rented the Active Plus from Catania for 8 days. Hard to fault their service! They were very responsive via phone, chat & email & dealt with my last minute changes without a hitch. Pickup & drop-off at the airport were a breeze as was every other aspect of dealing with them :) Some of the best customer service i'v come across! The van itself served us really well. Well insulated & equipped. Handed varying conditions from 25 degree temperatures to sub zero conditions without a hitch! Has everything you realistically need. Highly recommended due to being a very trustworthy, professional yet friendly company with excellent rentals avialable.

Kleurrijk opweg. Voor ons de eerste keer dat wij een camper huurde de Active plus, het beviel goed. We zijn zeer vriendelijk geholpen, afgehaald etc, erg netjes en vriendelijk als een warm bad. Echt voor herhaling vatbaar. Echter ter verbetering voor Indie campers zelf, de matrassen van de Active plus zijn wat dun voor 50+ wat pijnlijk voor de botten. Warm water en de koelbox kan alleen op 230, als je geen stroom hebt wordt dat lastig. Op betaalde Kampeer plekken is er stroom, maar vaak zijn er dan ook douches beschikbaar, dus is een eigen douche fijn maar niet echt nodig. Maar er zijn kampeer camper plekken waar geen stroom is, tja.........dat wordt koud douche en warme frisdranken. Daarom tip, zonnepanelen op de daken, nog duurzaam ook, of op gas of diesel. Verder is het ons prima bevallen. Ik zeg doen!

Came from Brazil to do a roadtrip around Italy and it couldn’t be better with them. Marvelous staff, like Ana and João at Milan, explained all details of the camper and we haven’t experienced any issues with the vehicle. This was our first trip with a camper and they showed all the support we needed to have an impecable trip. It was our lovely little home for 24 days and we could have stayed more. Very confortable even in italian winter, they supplied us with enough blankets and material to spend our entire vacation. Thank you very much Indie Campers, Deborah and Henrique

We had an amazing trip. The van was wonderful and we really grew fond of our little home on the road. Driving in Europe is a bit of a learning curve, but proved to be a fun and interesting experience. The staff (especially Nuno in Malaga) are SUPERB and were very helpful the whole time, with tips and recommendations too! I highly recommend indie campers to anyone looking for a new and adventurous way to explore Europe.

Very helpful staff to get you situated in the right van for you. They provided pick up and drop off at the airport which was convenient. The only bad thing I have to say is that I wasn't instructed about the locking mechanism on the shower door and the staff member who gave me the run down was not aware of it either. My first time showering in the van I got locked in the shower and had to break the door open. Later, I figured out I need to screw the noob in a little to make it slide. I thought I was going to die in the shower considering I was camping alone. Not the best place to die on a surf trip.

Nous avons utilisé Indie Camper pour un voyage au sud du Portugal. L'équipe est très sympathique, le van était bien, l'organisation également. Seul petit bémol, le prix qui est un peu élevé pour la prestation je trouve.

Loved my Indie Campers experience. The freedom a van gives you is insane. You are not tied to any hotel or place... The staff was really nice and helpful, the van was just perfect. I took the 'Sporty' van and was traveling alone... 200% recommended.

Generell war alles wirklich super und auch der Support grandios. Was ich allerdings sehr suspekt finde ist das man eine Rückführungsgebühr zahlt wenn man den Van nicht in Lissabon zurückgibt, dieser aber dann ab dem nächsten Standort direkt weitervermietet wird. Warum eine wirklich nicht geringe Gebühr zahlen wenn es nicht mal eine Rückführung gibt? Herausgefunden haben wir es da wir Freunden die nach uns einen Van in Lissabon übernehmen wollten einige Dinge hinterlassen wollten (Grill etc.). Der Grill ist nun wohl auch in der Vermietung für andere gelandet. Das ist wirklich schade.

We arrived in Bilbao and spent 8 days traveling around Northern Spain surfing/skateboarding in an Active Plus van. The van was in great condition and V Clean. The Indie Campers personnel was always available and extremely helpful! Although I couldn't bring my dog on this trip, I would like to have the option to have my dog with me It was our first Trip with Indie and will definitely do it again! Thanks for having us! First I must say the staff was very nice and professional and the van was in good condition. The issues are the practicality of using a van to travel around Europe. Trying to drive one of these vans if you never drove anything larger than a car is quite a challenge for the first couple of days. The hardest part is definitely backing up and driving in tight spots. There are so many roads throughout my 6,000 km road trip that the roads were so thin I would have to pull over until cars passes by. This would lead to very angry drivers behind me requiring me to pull over non stop. The other challenge is europe is full of steep sloped roads. The van can handle it only if you got speed and usually you don't have that opportunity. Usually the steep slopes come with thin roadways and usually parked cars along the road. The entire time you are driving you are constantly looking for obstacles and avoiding collisions. Then you got bike riders, mopeds, and motorcycles everywhere who own the road. They will cut you off and it will be your fault. Europe if full of chaotic routes and trying to make your way you will definitely take wrong turns often and when you do expect to add 20-45 minutes trying to get back on your route. It doesn't help that there are hundreds lane splitting and merging every km. Expect to add 10% of you trip trying to find you way back on your route. This includes the inevitable roads or parking lots you start down and find out there is no way out. Then trying to drive in reverse for sometimes half a km. That's when I hit a low concrete bollard. Such a small dent that cost 1,700 euros. There is no way you can go 6,000 km through major cities without a dent. There are excessive amount of aggressive driving even though there are speed cameras every 2 km and red-light cameras in every major city. The biggest problem of driving the large van is parking. There is no parking for a van this size in europe. You must park in a designated RV parking lot. They will be very hard to find if they exist and usually very far away from the destination. Dont bother trying to find a garage cause the 2.75 meter tall van wont fit anywhere. If you think parallel parking is possible take a close look and you will find that only smart cars can park there. Not to mention every single car in Europe is dinged up from all of the parallel parking. No one seems to car about their cars bouncing off bumpers. You should walk down the line of parallel parking and look at these bumpers. That will be your bumper and it will cost you as mentioned before. If you somehow find a parking space they may very well block you in with their tiny smart car. I the two times i parallel parked my side was hanging way out. There are many signs no camper/rv parking. You will get a ticket and you may be towed. When i got to Portfolio I was told to turn around and leave. You need to be very careful where you go cause there is many roads you can't go down. Also if you park up a slope expect the car to stall and start rolling down hill. I almost hit a car more than once this way. That includes red lights and stop signs such as Monaco. Too many times i almost rolled back into a car. Open and closing of campground 8am-8pm. Gas is approximately 1euro/5km and tolls 50% of your gas consumption. The tolls are super expensive which includes all 9 of the countries I visited. By time you are done you could have gone with the touring buses for basically the same price. You could rent a tiny smart car and stayed at hotels for less. There are many cheaper options. This van would be best served in a more for nature and not for the city. If you think this is the cheapest options it isn't. Driving the van is very much a chore as you need to stay very focused. Is that how you want to spend you vacation?

I just spent the last two weeks on the road in Italy with the Active Plus van from Indie Campers and I can't fault my experience with them! The customer service both before and during the trip was amazing, so many location and campground suggestions. We were picked up and dropped off at the nearby airports promptly. The bedding, cleaning and kitchen kits were amazing and had everything we needed. The van itself was great, very clean and spacious - great shower - and very economical! We had absolutely no problems with the van but I have no doubt that should we have needed it the 24/7 Roadside Assistance would have been fantastic! As I said I can't fault the experience, will definitely book with Indie Campers for my next European road trip!

Would highly recommend going with Indie Campers - it was one of the highlights of our Europe trip travelling down the West Coast of Portugal. We hired the Active Plus model which was fantastic to drive, really economic on fuel, had lots of room and was basically brand new. It was slightly pricey in the high season, but if you're willing to spend the money it's absolutely worth while. Be prepared to drive a large vehicle - it can be a little tight on little town roads. And it's worth mentioning that you can only have hot water and 240 volt power when you're plugged into mains at caravan parks etc. However, you still have 12v to charge phones and so forth. All in all the guys at the Lisbon store (special mention to João) were cruisey, nice guys who were easy to deal with and they made the whole process very swift. Thanks guys - we're planning our next Indie adventure as we speak! :)

Pickup process took forever, mattress was horrible, barely any storage space inside the camper, they charge 20 Euro rental fee for chairs that cost 10 eur each, gas tank was empty when we received the camper, water tank was empty, coffee maker was missing, our friends did not have plates and cutlery. Pricing is very expensive with insurance and all extras

Wir (Familie mit 2 Erw. und 2 Kindern) hatten eine wunderbare Zeit mit dem Van an der Kueste südlich und nördlich von Lissabon. Der Service von Indicampers war gut (gut persönlich erreichbar) und die Ausstattung war auch völlig in Ordnung. Jederzeit und hoffentlich bald wieder.

Indie Campers were superb. The service was professional and friendly the whole way through, all communications were answered promptly, etc. When it came to pick up/drop off this was handled very well and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The van itself was excellent too and the service provided by the staff really helped make the holiday a pleasure. Absolutely miles better than any other car hire firm I've ever used. I would recommend Indie Campers to anyone.

We rented a van in Lisbon and drove it to Bilboa over the course of 10 days. We covered more than 3,000 km, many of them on the narrow and winding roads of rural Portugal. We had the Active S van, which was very easy and comfortable to drive. Our only recommendation would be to mistrust both Apple and Google maps. If you fear that you might not be able to get the van out of a situation, send a scout ahead before driving in. We had to back out of one very precarious position, which was stressful. Dealing with Indie was great -- they were in good communication throughout the process. The van was equipped with everything we needed, with the exception of a small cutting board so we bought one en route. We self-catered most of our meals with no difficulty. We forgot to bring our stove-top expresso maker and were planning to buy one, but Indie included one of those too! Overall, this was an incredibly enjoyable way to explore Portugal, and we will have no hesitation renting from Indie again in future. Thanks!

The camper hasn't a fridge or hot water. The interior is demaged or without function. The FIAT is perfect, but driving is not all.

Had a good experience with Indie Campers. Watched 3 stages of the Vuelta 2016 plus a bit of camping in their van. Vehicle was virtually new and drove like a dream. The toilet is portable and should only really be used in emergency. Shower is hot and works well. We were up in the Pyrenees in early September so bedding provided could have been a bit warmer. Other things you need to bring along...clothes line and pegs and a china mug if you like a decent cup of coffee.

We had such a wonderful two weeks in our Indie camper van! The staff was so helpful and friendly and quick to answer our questions. We loved our van and our family of 5 even all fit. We made some very special memories traveling up and down the coast of Portugal, surfing and enjoying the beauty of the country.
