If you enjoy being eaten by bed bugs and thumping music til 2am, then stay here. I booked one night but abandoned around 2:30am one morning as it was impossible to sleep. The only positive is that the hostel apologised and gave me a full refund.

Not value for money in my opinion. Quite expensive for a hostel compared to apartments we've stayed in Portugal for less. It was quite noisy at times and especially the cleaner at 7am, bed was sooooooo squeaky that I couldn't sleep properly and the pillows and mattress were uncomfortable (We stayed in the private room). The shower heads in all the bathrooms were broken and you had to hold it with one hand whilst showering so that was challenging. The pool was great, staff were friendly, breakfast was good and so was the kitchen.

If you're​ looking to something different than the big city life of Lisbon without being far from it here is the place to come. Clean place, well situed, 5 min to the beach, not far from Cascais, a supermarket nearby open every day until late and more important the atmosphere of the hostel is the best you can find. People are relaxing and chill thanks also to José the owner a good host who make people feel like home. Sometimes barbecue are organized, you can rent surfboard, bike etc. I've been 4 times there the last 4 years, I'll definitely come back ;)

Não aconselho!!! Fiz a reserva e deixei que iria chegar mais tarde. Aquando a chegada dizem que já estão fechados e desligam a chamada. Péssimo serviço!!!

Really friendly staff, amazing decoration, super relaxed vibe, felt at home in a place I had never been.

Pessoal da receção simpático. A sala é o local mais agradável da casa. Tiveram a simpatia de nos servir o pequeno almoço mais cedo que o normal, porque o contexto em que nos inserimos lá assim o pediu. Devo dizer que existe alguma areia no chão, pois há muitos surfistas alojados. A água para tomar banho estava sempre morna quase fria e tinha sempre muito pouca pressão. A roupa de cama disponível nos quartos não foi adequada à altura do ano, sobretudo quando nao existe aquecimento central.

Relaxed and near the beach. Small walk to the station of Carcavelos to Lisbon Lovely home dog. You can do surf too. One fantastic experience !!!

I have to write the truth.I‘ve spent 6 nights in this hostel,so now all my body is beaten by bad bugs.When I understood the reason I decided to run from this place as fast as I can.I have terrible marks from bugs on my face,on my legs and hands,the itch is horrible (24 hours every day),my fingers and my face swollen.bites are huge.I’m afraid of sleeping now,it seems,bugs are everywhere.My vacation is spoiled,and all best sides of this place are overlapped by this situation.Now i have to spent my money for medicines.It gonna take a lot of time to make my skin better now.also bugs are in my bags and clothes,so I have to wash ant sanitary everything when i’ll be at home...p.s.Day after the owner wrote me and asked not to write about badbugs,cause “it is bad for business”.Also he lied,that it happened first time (in 2017 and 2014 two wrote here about badbugs).Maybe Jose is nice guy,BUT DUDE,do you really want to earn money on people’s health?!

Great place with true spirit. Amazing, friendly experienced owner. A lot of usefully information. Deep swimming pool!!! Garden, dogs, very close to the beach. Beer for 1 eu. 3 nights here and would come definitely again. Just watch out for mosquitos ;)

Pra quem é surfista esse é o lugar perfeito. Só a cozinha que é de comum uso a todos precisa de reforma e utensílios novos. As pessoas da recepção são ótimas, carisma e bom atendimento independente se vais ficar uma noite ou um mês. Bom preço. Ruim só quando vais fazer o seu almoço com pouco espaço na mesa e fogão pequeno também daí junta muitos a fazer tudo mais ou menos na mesma hora e aí gera aquela disputa por espaço e quando tem pessoas irritadiças fica pior ainda. Escada de madeira de acesso aos quartos sempre molhada por causa do entra e sai dos surfistas. No mais um bom lugar.

Barato porém tudo bem simples... Poderia ser mais limpo...

O hostel com a melhor equipa e com a melhor energia que ja tive o prazer de me hospedar.

Hotel barulhento , pequeno almoço que estava incluído no preço não tinha nada para se comer , o funcionário do check-in um brasileiro , era simpático , o funcionário do check-out era antipático e insistia em falar inglês , embora sejamos portugueses , além disso estava mal vestido parecia um sem-abrigo , as casas de banho estavam quase sempre a ser usadas e a limpeza não era regular e tinha mau cheiro , o quarto era mal decorado e pobre em utensílios , as 3 da madrugada ainda se falava demasiado alto e até se ouvia música ! Atenção aos bedbugs (percevejos)

I immediately felt very at home. The other guests and employees were wonderful. Great location, helpful staff, beautiful campus and ammenities.

Amazing staff, very friendly and ready to help. I met people from all over the world, nice guys. Outstanding location, very close to the beach and easy to take the comboio (train). Highly recommend.

É bom e tranquilo, só precisam de ter mais atenção às necessidades dos cães.

The bed wasn't comfortable. No towels or soap. At 07:30 the cleaner made a very loud noise. Nice breakfast (you need to wash your dishes).

Horrível tirando que não sei bem de onde tiraram estas fotos que aparecem aqui !? Pois a realidade e mesmo outra .... Barulhento,sujo mas muito mesmo!! As salas o quarto o jardim sem falar sequer da casa de banho que e para todos e e nojenta ... E sim recepção muito simpática já que pagas mas 4€ de taxa turística que não está referenciada em lado nenhum .... En fim não recomendo .....

Para quem quer sair à noite, um aviso: ninguém do Hostel proíbe os visitantes de colocar música aos berros às 8 horas da manhã. Tudo bem que é um hostel, mas o colchão da cama massacrou a minha coluna.

Bathrooms werent that clean, possibly need some upgrading and the hostel was quite loud at night with drunk guests and music playing downstairs

Ich war in einer chaotischen zeit ende saison dort. Man hat mich und 3 weitere gaeste wegen schliessung raus geworfen.

es hat alles gepasst! Nähe zum Strand, Surfschule, schöner Pool, lieber Hund, sehr nettes, hilfsbereites Personal, internationale Mitbewohner usw.

i planned to stay at carcavelos for 1 night and ended up staying 4! the staff are friendly and go out of their way to help you. the vibe is warm and chilled and is the perfect place to relax and even experience the traditional Portuguese culture. You also get to learn about other cultures as you meet people who are from all over the world!its fun, chilled, everyone is a legend, you will fall in love with Chiko annd its right near the beach- what more could you ask for? Even if the surf isnt on, its only a short walk to the train station which will take you to the next surf spot yeeew! Give it a try you defs wont be dissapointed :)

It doesn't get better then Carcavelos Surf Hostel. The owner José and his staff go above and beyond to take of you. The hostel is clean, friendly, accommodating, and right by the beach. Ideal for surfers - Carcavelos is a fast, hollow, powerful wave. Get it on the right swell and you won't be disappointed. And not to forget, the loving Chico - José's boxer. He's super friendly and loves to play. I'm coming back without question and would recommend Carcavelos Surf Hostel to all travelers interested in meeting new people, surfing sick waves, and enjoying good company. Cheers!
