Heel vriendelijk, een kleine maar lekkere kaart! Ook een heel mooi interieur binnen. De naam van het restaurant is inmiddels veranderd naar Sao Jorge.

Great lunch spot with a killer “Menu” deal that came with a drink (water, beer, or wine), soup, entree, and a coffee for €12! We happened on this spot when we were coming down from the castle and highly recommend for a great valued lunch. The wait staff were super friendly and told us the main entree changes everyday, and I’m sure it’s just as great. Definitely recommend on your way to or from the castle.

There were no tables when we arrived but they found us a seat at the bar and the food was wonderful and the wine was excellent. A really great evening.

This review is for drinks & ambiance only. We sat here for 2+ hours for a couple of drinks and thoroughly enjoyed the people watching and the sunset. A great place to relax and enjoy an evening!

The restaurant's name has changed to " São Jorge" but my god! What an experience! The lovely staff made our dinner even better with their welcoming and engaging spirits. I recommend Sao Jorge, with a reservation, one should try the São Jorge drink, the Bacalhau a Bràz, vinho verde, maracujá cocktail with the actual fruit! So tasty, baby sardines with green beans, pica pau ( has beef). Romeo, the manager clearly is passionate about this place because we left feeling as if we had dined at a friend's home. If you visit during warmer days, sit outside for the view over Alfama. Bravo to the team! I cannot wait to return!

Ate here twice while in Lisbon and was not disappointed at all. The food was amazing, especially the salt cod starter and the house red wine was very good. A bit more expensive than other places we tried but this was by far the best food we had in Lisbon. Would definitely recommend.

Very nice little place. Good food, welcoming staff and popular. Ate there twice and wasn't disappointed on either occasion. Our waitress was knowledgeable with both the food and especially the wine.

I just came back from the restaurant, where I had a very tasty meal indeed. Most impressive though, was how a potentially unsavoury situation was handled.
Initially I ordered a main course which, when it arrived, was not to my taste at all. There was nothing actually wrong with it, I simply didn't care for the taste. It's something which has happened before of course and sometimes such complaints aren't handled very well.
However, here it was handled just as gracefully as I would have expected at a top of the range establishment and to my mind that's worth a recommendation in itself.
Quite apart from the above, the food was superb (do try the Portuguese steak!) and the staff both very friendly and very competent. High praise from me.

By far, the best bar/restaurant we visited in Lisbon. Totally delicious food, especially the fish (I was told that the daily market fish was incredible). A good variety of great cocktails and other beverages. The prices are pretty reasonable, too. Finally, the staff are excellent (though usually very busy) - friendly, helpful and welcoming.

Subiendo al castillo, de lo mejor. Muy buena comida y muy buen trato. Buen vino blanco de barril. La vista desde la terraza es impresionante y quizas tambien se paga. Zona muy turistica, se llenó con facilidad. Mejor ir andando.

Baixant del Castell de Sant Jordi a 42 graus vam refugiar-nos en aquest petit restaurant. Ens van acollir amb una amabilitat i atencio increibles. Vam menjar un bon arros amb navalles i un altre arros amb mero i gambes. Perfecta coccio. Vins justets. Es tambe cocteleria pero no vam tastar les propostes. Si que vam demanar llimonada feta per ells amb canyella. Molt interessant

On nous a installé en terrasse sans jamais venir prendre notre commande. La serveuse diletente préférait discuter avec sa collègue et a fini par servir un groupe arrivé après nous.

Excellent petit restaurant bien décoré et situé dans un quartier charmant et calme, sur les hauteurs. Le patron nous a gentiment accueilli et conseillé en français. La cuisine est délicieuse et les vins parfaitement en accord. Nous recommandons chaudement cette adresse!

My friend sent twice her black angus tartar because it was too thick. When it came back it was still too thick. It did not look tartar. Alley cats would have appreciated more those raw meat chunks. As far as my dish was concerned, my piece of meat was cold. I sent it back to the kitchen as well. The waiter showed some sympathy and said he would offer dessert for free. We asked 2 chocolate mousses topped with ginger crumble. It was good! But when we saw the note we were shocked to see that the dessert were not on the house.

Sehr freundliche und unterhaltsame Bedienung, die uns sehr zuvorkommend bediente. Wir haben zwar nur Getränke geordert, das Essen auf den Nebentischen roch jedoch sehr vorzüglich und sah toll aus! Der Haus-eigene Kirschlikör schmeckt toll. Das nächste Mal werden wir auch zum essen dorthin gehen.

Very Portuguese restaurant! We reccomend the soups, the cheese with pumpkin jelly, the scrambled eggs and the pear on wine! The "cheirinho" was too strong in the mousse, so be careful if you don't like strong alcohol! Ah, the passion fruit sangria was incredible and service was kind!

Un sitio muy agradable una atención espectacular y unos platos normalitos. Pedimos unas puntillitas de solomillo, un bacalao al bras y un risotto. Las puntillitas bien flojo, la salsa muy rica pero la carne un poco chicle, a lo mejor fue cosa de ese día no lo se. El bacalao al bras ni fu ni fa. El risotto estaba rico. Un restaurante acogedor bien de precio y con una atención al cliente inmejorable. La cocina le falta un poco pero para comer si estás de paso está bien.

Mangiato molto bene in questo ristorante che mi sento proprio di consigliare. L'ambiente interno si adatta più a coppie che a compagnie o a famiglie con bimbi piccoli. La sala interna del ristorante anche se non grandissima, ha tuttavia dimensioni adeguate rispetto ad altri locali visitati nei giorni precedenti in centro città. Prezzi in media se non più bassi di altri locali.

This was originally going to be a place for a quick snack and drink before going to our “planned restaurant”. The friendly staff, excellent food and great prices won us over to stay there for dinner. I absolutely recommend Restaurant Sao Jorge.

Fantastic venue. From the outside it looks a bit like a a tourist trap but it is a hidden gem. The food is fresh and then quality is great at this price point. The staff are friendly and are multilingual. The views from the restaurant is great if you sit from the outside and is close to Castelo Sao Jorge. As a tip, you can take the castelo elevator inside the Pingo Dolce to level 7 to avoid climbing up the stairs to get to the restaurant if you are coming from the Baixia side.

A great meal, turned into a wonderful dining experience thanks to Romeu. He made our evening with his attentive and friendly service. This is a popular restaurant for sitting on the patio with a drink and watching the sun go down - but seriously don't miss out on everything this place has to offer and do like we did, head inside and get the full experience.

Great environment, friendly staff and more important excellent food. We ended up at this restaurant after failing to go to a more expensive restaurant near by, I couldn't be happier for that. The dishes cost between 9€-14€ and the portions are quite good. I totally recommend the "São Jorge" cocktail. The restaurant accepts credit cards.

Simply wonderful experience all around. Great service, food was spectacular. When we reserved our table, my wife let them in on the fact it was our last night in Portugal and they decorated our table very romantically.
I cannot say enough good things, the view, EVERYTHING was amazing and a memorable experience. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone spending time in Lisbon.

Un lugar tranquilo para comer o cenar después de pasear por el castillo.
Comida portuguesa moderna, no está mal pero algunos condimentos desmejoraban el plato.
La carta no es muy amplia pero te aconsejan bien, el trato excelente y con dominio de varios idiomas.
Mejor en la terraza que dentro donde pasamos algo de calor.

Nice Portugese restaurant with a view. It was hard to find it following the google maps as we needed to take an elevator uphill - it was a nice surprise to find out it is on the top of the hill. The food is mostly seafood, the waitresses are very attentive. The allergens are marked on the menu, it is a big plus! We also tasted the maracuja sangria, which has nothing to do with the real sangria, but the white wine and maracuja really goes well together!

Lugar perfeito para tomar um vinho verde, que é servido bem gelado, depois de passear pelo Castelo de São Jorge. Pedimos, de aperitivo, peixes à maionese e nos surpreendemos com o prato: sardinhas assadas, acompanhas de vagem empanada e uma maionese temperada. A apresentação do prato é linda e o sabor delicioso. O atendimento é muito amável. Como dizem os portugueses: o vinho verde trepa (sobe), então pegue o elevador pra descer, fica bem ao lado do bar.

Attrape-touriste, le gérant a gonflé la facture par rapport aux prix affichés et a retiré la facture bien rapidement quand j'ai voulu la lire...quelques euros de perdus mais j'espère des clients en moins ! Bien d'autres lieux de restauration plus charmants et plus honnêtes à Lisbonne, continuez à chercher !

We came across this gem after a day of walking around Alfama. Our waiter ended up being the chef/owner whose personality made the experience amazing. Highlights of the meal included the olives, prawns, and the home made potato chips that was served with our delicious streak. Recently re-names to Sao Jorge, we are definitely coming back here the next time we are in Lisbon!

A sangria de toranja é excelente e o atendimento bastante atencioso, as pessoas sãos muito divertidas. A ginja da casa também nao desiludiu! Recomendo a qualquer lisboeta ou visitante dar um saltinho ao sítio. E pretendo regressar em breve para experimentar o pica pau!

Just to be fair, the food is very good - the 1-star is purely for the waitress. She is unprofessional or even rude. Very impatient when we were ordering food, and very very tricky in getting the changes for us when we paid. I was extremely disappointed and upset and will not come back again or recommend it to anyone else.

Correct, sans plus, mais de ce fait très cher. Le plat le moins cher est à 15€, à ce prix là vous avec un steak, entouré de chips nature et une petite poêlé de légumes. Ma femme a pris du poisson, cela a été servit avec 3 pommes de terre à l'eau sans aucune sauce. Je n'y retournerai pas et ne conseille pas. La sangria est bonne mais on ne peut l'acheter qu'au litre et c'est 16,50€, quand même...

Stumbled on this place when our guide (who was otherwise great) tried to set us up at the super touristy place next door. We ate here instead. Food was AMAZING, service was average, view was actually not quite as good as the touristy spot but still quite nice and the patio seating was simple and cozy which we liked.
Definitely favorite spot for dinner in Lisbon.

We were deceived by the four star rating - staff nice but "No arbusto" drink very unpleasant, orange juice mediocre by Portuguese standards, and cake servings small. Expensive for the quality (or lack thereof).

We celebrated a birthday here and it was amazing! The atmosphere was cozy yet upscale. We had fish of the day from the market and beef steak. Both were amazing! Passion fruit Margherita was especially tasty.

Nous avons trouvé par hasard en descendant du château et nous avons très bien manger. Ils y a des petits plats, peut-être à partager en n'en prenant plusieurs, mais il y a aussi des plats principaux plus soutenant. La serveuse était très sympathique et se forçait beaucoup à parler le français à des touristes qui eux ne se forçaient pas beaucoup. Elle nous a bien conseillé et nous avons adoré notre expérience! Merci

오늘 식사하고 나오는 길인데.. 포르투갈이 아시안에 대한 차별은 어느정도 예상했지만 여긴 정말 최악이라는 말이 아깝습니다. 이제까지 경험했었던 유럽여행 통틀어 최악의 케이스 입니다. 저희보다 늦게 온 유럽인들에게 저희보다 메뉴판을 먼저 주고 주류 메뉴판은 말하지 않으면 주지도 않습니다.
또한 똑같은 스테이크를 주문해도 아시안들에게는 굽기 정도를 절대 묻지 않습니다. 또한 제일 먼저 와도 가장 늦게 음식이 나오는 것은 기본이고(조리시간이
길지않은 음식임) 마지막으로 정점은 먹던 와인잔에 주문한 와인을 서빙했다는 겁니다. 잔을 보라고 하자 별일 없다는 듯이 다시 서빙.....소소한 아시안에 대한 무례함은 일일히 열거할 필요도 없을 것 같습니다.

Literally cannot fault this place... amazing customer service, outstanding food and attentive staff. Cheap drinks, amazing view and just a casual and relaxing place to spend an evening. Would not describe this place as a tourist trap, it's authentic, genuine and worth visiting! The picture I have attached cost me a total of €1.50 due to a free voucher for sparkling wine and the snack as low priced as €1.50 and incredibly tasty. Great bar food

Great food and drink! On our first visit, for lunch on Christmas Eve, we had a variety of small plates, each one of which was delicious. On account of the date, we were greeted with free glasses of Espumante which we followed up with some very tasty cocktails. On our second visit, we chose the bean stew and tried a bottle of the recommended red Espumante. We've never had red fizz before and it was surprisingly pleasing.

Ho avuto modo di fermarmi in questo piccolo locale il penultimo giorno della mia vacanza. Caldo, mille scalini da fare per raggiungere il Castello di Sao Jorge, ma alla fine ci siamo concessi un dolce e una bottiglia di spumante (dai, è l'ultimo giorno si può fare). Che dire, ho un ricordo positivo di questo posto: anche se dal tono chic, ha dei prezzi abbordabili (come in tutto il Portogallo) e i prodotti meritano di essere provati. La cucina, a ricordo, mi sembra più cara e sofisticata.
PRO: bel locale, personale disponibile, selezione interessante di vini per il dopocena

Se come bastante bien. No es barato y sólo tiene 4 platos principales para elegir. El servicio regular, a pesar de no haber mucha gente nadie se acercó a preguntarnos si queríamos postre.
