Un hostel quelque peu à l'écart du centre touristique de la ville (15 minutes de marche), mais proposant une ambiance décontractée et apaisante. Le staff est super gentil, offre de bons conseils et fait tout en son possible pour améliorer notre séjour!
Cet hostel est très propre et aussi très beau! Dans un immeuble étroit en hauteur, il est notamment doté de deux terrasses!

We stayed for one night in the Lisbon Poets Privates hostel. Amazing and beautiful hostel in the heart of town. The staff is superfriendly, the rooms are beautiful and clean, and they have AC (convenient in summertime). Even though it's in the town centre (region Baixa), there's no disturbance from noise on the street. I highly recommend it for a stay in Lisbon.

We loved our stay at Lisbon Poet's Privates Hostel! It is located in the heart of everything right next to the Baixa Chiado metro station. Nearby were lots or great cafes, restaurants, museums, views, and parks. It was a great place to just walk around and also catch the famous trams.
Keep in mind that Poet's has two location. The first one is a standard hostel and the second location is all private rooms. Your confirmation email will have specific directions, so be careful to look for that and know which location you are heading towards. Staff is very quick to respond to questions via email. We stayed in the private rooms location. Our room was clean, bright, and comfortable. The bathrooms are shared and as with any hostel experience, some guests are more thoughtful and kind to their fellow travelers than others. However, the cleaning staff was there everyday cleaning, restocking, and working hard to keep things comfortable and nice.
Poet's Privates Hostel is in a prime location in the middle of everything, so for that luxury you have to be prepared for the usual city noises. And again, like any hostel experience, some guests are more thoughtful about their noise when they come and go then others. If you are not used to city sounds or are a very light sleeper then bring along some earplugs just in case. That said, during our two week stay, we did not have problems and thought it was an excellent value for money and a place we'd stay again.
When we first arrived, we did find it a little difficult to find. But there is a little sign that says "POETS" on the back of one of the street signs and the doorway is forest green. In the entry way, the sign for it seems to be faded away but they are up on the 4th floor. If you have access to your apps, Google Maps and Walc both show it correctly in the area and can help you.

I stayed at Lisbon Poets Privates for 4 nights at the end of March - it was a great value. The location is amazing - easily walk to anything and a Metro and a Tram 28 stop pretty much right in front of the hostel (see my photo). Cafes for breakfast close by, Barrio Alto with great places for dinner/Fado/bars less than 10 min away. I stayed in a single and it was small but sufficient. I had a balcony - I posted a photo of my view. The mattress was comfortable. There were 4 bathrooms for not that many rooms! I never saw anyone else using them! They were always spotless. Staff was very helpful/answered all questions. Great air-conditioner with remote control. Plenty of hot water. A really good value in Lisbon.
The only think to know is that it can be noisy at night - especially weekends. The hostel is off of a plaza where there are often street performers late into the night. I wear earplugs so it didn't really bother me but if you're a light sleeper, this could be an issue so you may not want a room facing the street.

Trotz Spätanreise gab es keine Probleme. Das Zimmer war spärlich eingerichtet, aber das nötigste war vorhanden. Leider war es sehr kalt in der Nacht, daher 1 Punkt Abzug. Auf dem Flur gab es pro Etage 2 Gemeinschaftsbäder. Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr nett.

Die Lage ist grandios, unser Zimmer (Casanova) wirkte ein bisschen in die Jahre gekommen.
Die Mädels an der Rezeption waren Mega nett und haben viele hilfreiche Tipps gegeben.

Wir haben im März dort eine Woche übernachtet, das Zimmer war sehr sauber und schön eingerichtet, die Betten waren sehr komfortabel. In direkter Nähe zu vielen Sehenswürdigkeiten sowie Restaurants und Bars, auch der öffentliche Nahverkehr war sehr gut zu erreichen. Sehr freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal.

Poets Private Hostel in Lisbon has been our go to place to stay for years. The BEST! Very central, easy access to the subway, trolley cars, walkable to so much....plus it's always clean, neat, funky with friendly, accommodating staff. Pricing is fab too. Could not ask for more...unless it was more time to spend in Lisboa! Thank you soooooo much

Horrible Experience at the Poets Privates in Chiado.
My flight to Lisbon had to land somewhere else due to weather conditions, so I ended up arriving 6 hours late, shortly after midnight. I had called the Hostel to tell them that I was going to be late, send them an email aswell with my arrival time, as soon as i got in the bus for Lisbon and when I arrived noone opened the door. I called again and they told me they gave my room to someone else already and offered me the option to go to the dorms. This was unacceptable, since the location of the dorms is far from the center, therefore not comparable with what i had booked (and also not private). They charged me for the room anyway, even though they already checked someone else in for that room. Obviously they took advantage of my late arrival to charge twice for the room and left me practically with no choice other than a compromise.

Se si ha spirito di adattamento il B&B è nel complesso carino. Essenziale. Vicino al centro. Prezzi nella media. Di decisamente negativo ci sono i rubinetti temporizzati sia del lavandino che della doccia per cui sono molto scomodi! Non c’è il phone. Le “cameriere” sono molto scortesi, 20 minuti prima del termine dell’orario di colazione avevano già portato via tutto.

It was very clean and conveniently located. The room was small but comfortable and sufficient for our 6 day stay. Breakfast was good, too, and since the kitchen is big, there is plenty of room to bring your own food. Don't forget earplugs, it can get noisy outside at night!

O Hostel fica bem localizado. Porém, o quarto de casal privado não tem condições. Não existe a possibilidade de ventilar naturalmente, para o exterior. Está localizado na caixa de escadas, o que não permite descansar tranquilamente. Ouve-se o ruido permanente durante a noite de quem utiliza as escadas. A única janela deste quarto é virada para a caixa de escadas e não tem um blackout eficiente, sempre que alguém passa e acende a luz, o quarto fica iluminado. Tudo isto perturba muito o descanso. A casa de banho deste quarto também não é nada confortável.
Por último as escadas de todo o edifício são perigosas e não regulamentares.
Não recomendo.

O Hostel é limpo e as camas são boas. Não gostei do banheiro. A pia é pequena, o vaso sanitário muito alto e o chuveiro com temporizador. Outro ponto negativo é que o ar condicionado é controlado pela recepção, mesmo sendo quatro privativo. Localização perto de metrô, ônibus, padaria e restaurante.

Amazing Hostel! We had such a lovely room with two balconies. The bathrooms are very clean. It looks like that someone is always cleaning them after it was used once. The receptionist was very kind and helpful. And the location - just top! Each evening there was band playing at the plaza and you could hear it in the rooms. I loved this place! Would come back for sure.

We stayed two nights at the Lisbon Poets Privates. We went to the wrong hostel first (there is one location with dorms, and another with Privates). The first night our AC was broken, so it was a really poor sleep. However, we moved to a double room the second night and really liked it—comfy bed, big room, and a small terrace overlooking the street.
Location - Excellent
Service - Good (they’re only staffed from 9-5, which prevented us from having our AC problem dealt with sooner)
Cleanliness - Excellent (shared bathrooms were clean)
Parking - the Parking was free outside of the hostel, but we constantly had to fight with Tuk Tuk drivers to give our car enough space and we were constantly worried about it getting damaged (it was a rental).

A great hostel that has a kitchen and also offers wonderful dinners if you book ahead.
The breakfasts included are also top!
Make sure to take some time just to chill out in the living room and relax, perhaps you will also be able to meet some interesting people like I did!

My partner and I stayed at Lisbon Poets Suits for one night and overall we did not have a pleasant experience.
First, the staff needs to very clearly explain to the guests that are staying in the suites, or private rooms, and that they are in a separate building from the main hostel with the dormitories. In the email conversations you need to state "Lisbon Poets has TWO locations, X and Y. You are staying at X and these are the directions."
Second, being that there is not 24 hour reception at the suites building, I recommend that the worker notifies the guests that they are leaving. The towels are for rent and shortly after we had checked in I walked to reception to rent a towel and there was no one there. So we dryed off using t-shirts and hand dryers.
Lastly,when we returned to the hostel around 10:30 at night, our key did not work. We could not get into the main building and had to call a worker from the main hostel to come let us in. We were not able to get into our room until nearly 1 am.
There were too many inconveniences for a one night stay.

Achter de buitengevel bevind zich een mooi ingerichte jeugdherberg met moderne privékamers. Ook de keuken is goed uitgerust. Het WiFi bereik was in mijn kamer echter minder. Het warme water liet ook even op zich wachten in de douche. Het personeel aan de receptie was behulpzaam en vriendelijk. Het aankomen na openingsuren verliep vlot.
Ik kijk ernaar uit hun vestiging in Porto ook te verkennen.

The location is perfect, very close to a stop of the famous tram 28 and in walking distance to the subway/metro station.
The staff is very friendly and the (silent but beautiful) Americana music in the background in the reception room made us feel right at home.
If jou just want to have a simple, but very clean hostel with a simple, but decent breakfast, this is the place for you!!!

I had a great stay in the Poets hostel! Me and my friend had the private room with private washroom. The room and washroom are quite small, but still very comfortable and clean. We stayed there in January and the heating worked great! The staff is very helpful and friendly. The location is great as well, right next to the stop of tram 28 and a beautiful lookout. It was very easy to walk from there to most things we wanted to see.
The only note I would have is that it is not very accessible, in the sense that there are a lot of stairs and no elevator or ramp

Complete lack of respect and non-existent professionalism nearly led us to missing our journey back home!
After checking out earlier in the day, we were told that reception would be open till 4 pm and to pick up our bags before then. After exploring a little bit more of Lisbon before arriving around 3 pm at the reception, where no one was there and the door was locked. We contacted the number of the hostel, informing them that we were waiting so that we could get our bags.
It was an hour and a half before someone to the hostel to let us in. She didn’t work there but was a friend or relative doing it as a ‘favour’ to someone who did. After opening the door, she shooed is away before giving us anytime to double check that we have everything, adding more stress to our situation as we were worried about missing our 17:30 coach to the Algarve. (Luckily, we managed to get to Sete Rios on time but I dread to think what would have happened if we had a 16:30 coach.)
After all this, there wasn’t so much as an apology or explanation for why no one was on site between 3-4 pm. I understood that after 4 pm, things are off limits but to arrive there an hour earlier and be treated like this was unacceptable.
Prior to this, I was enjoying my stay in the hostel, even after finding out that the stove in the kitchen wasn’t working (a fact I felt compelled to let staff know out of kindness, since I knew it wasn’t their fault, a curtesy that was not given to me and my girlfriend) after buying food to cook ourselves for the night.
Originally, I would have given this hostel a much better rating but the experience checking out was awful. I will not be recommending staying here to anyone I know.

방도 깔끔하고 공용인데도 욕실이 깨끗해요. 조식도 깔끔하고 일찍 도착해서 얼리체크인도 했어요. 또 공용욕실에 커피포트, 전자레인지 등등이 잘 갖추어져있어서 편했어요. 일정이 짧아서 1박만 했는데도 짐도 맡아주시고 친절하시고 최고에요!! 다만 엘리베이터가 없고 계단이 가팔라서 조심해야하고 수건은 2유로 지불해야하니 참고하세요.

Very comfortable. Handy having an elevator when a lot of old buildings in the area don't. Shared bathroom wasn't a problem and very good cleaning standards. Good customer service though only there till 5pm. Not a problem for me. Wasn't the easiest place to find on the map but superb central location.

Sub acesta denumire se găsesc două locații, una in care cazarea se face in camere de tip " hostel" cu grup sanitar și baie comună, iar alta în camere individuale, cu tot confortul necesar...așa că atenție la adresa...Am avut cazare in locația cu locuri individuale, pe care o recomand cu toată încrederea, este aproape de statia de metrou Anjin, foarte aproape de magazine, braserii, la parter se afla un local de tip bistro și se găsește într-o zonă zona relativ liniștită. Are recepție non stop, dispune de o mică terasă unde se poate servii masa, iar pe acoperiș se afla un lounge, complet utilat!

Habitaciones amplias, personal amable! El desayuno estaba muy bien y la ubicación muy cercana al centro y a las paradas de transporte público.
El Hostel súper bonito. Única recomendación para los que llevan maletas muy grandes. Hay muchas escaleras, pero paciencia que se puede! Jajaja recomendadísimo!

Hostel mit überschaubarem guten Frühstück. Leider hat man in unserem Zimmer jedes Geräusch im Haus mit bekommen, nachts Gespräche in der Küche und morgens ab 6 das Geschirr aus der Küche. Die Klingel der Tür war durchs ganze Haus zu hören, man wurde quasi immer von irgendetwas geweckt. Aus der Dusche kam sehr wenig Wasser, was ein Witz war sowas eine Dusche zu nennen. Es dauerte auch 2-3minuten bis überhaupt warmes Wasser kam.
Lüften war gar nicht erst möglich da sich das Fenster wegen einer Gardinenstange nicht wirklich öffnen lies und das Fenster auch nur zur Treppe ging also nicht nach außen somit könnte dann auch jeder rein schauen.
Absolutes no go, würden es definitiv nicht wieder buchen und können es auch nicht weiter empfehlen.

Receptionnists are very Nice and understanding with my friend we were in different rooms but she found a Way for us to be in the same room so it was really cool. Also great building, it is kinda narrow but it is the charm of the place. Breakfast is included and there is a great variety of things to eat. Really my favorite definetly will recommend

Stayed in a doubles room for a long weekend trip to Lisbon and it was great! Relatively cheap for a private room that is very centrally located. The staff is very kind and helpful and the shared bathrooms are very cleaned (cleaned often as well). It's a bit tricky to find the front door (we arrived after dark). And great location - can walk or bike to almost every point.

Je ne recommande pas. Situé à 25 min a pied du centre, la chambre est petite et la salle de bain minuscule. La douche est nulle. Le petit-déjeuner est nul (aucun choix, pas de viennoiserie, juste du pain de mie) et chacun doit faire sa vaisselle. L'accueil est plutot bon, c'est le seul point positif.

If you are visiting Lisbon, this is the place to stay. It's super clean, really nice aesthetic, and the staff are amazing (Matthew in particular is like having a cool older brother who knows the best spots for everything). The breakfast in the morning was delicious (endless fresh fruit, cereals, toast, cheese, tea, coffee etc) and the communal kitchen is really well stocked. I think this place attracts lovely visitors too - I made friends with people in my room and at breakfast very easily. A real highlight for me on my trip! Thanks team

Room was spacious and comfortable and the bathrooms were super clean. The location and price sincerely can’t be beat. My friend who paid much more for her hotel was way farther from all the downtown action. A quick trip down the street in any direction leads to whatever you’re looking for. Definitely recommend!

I stayed in Lisbon Poets Hostel Privates, which is the location that only has the private rooms. The location of Lisbon Poets is really great. It is right next to metro station Baixa-Chiado and it's right between Bairro Alto (which is great for restaurants and bars), Chiado and Baixa (shopping and restaurants).
The rooms are nice and tidy, there are plenty (4) bathrooms which are cleaned daily and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. Above all, the price was very good for everything you get.

Zimmer sind sauber, Doppelbetten haben nur eine Decke. Teller müssen nach dem Frühstück selbst abgewaschen werden. Kleiner Raum zum essen aber gut für soziale Kontakte. In den Zimmern hört man leider gut was sich im Flur abspielt.

Ein wirklich empfehlenswertes Hostel. Unser Bett war groß und tatsächlich supergemütlich. Die Gemeinschaftsbäder waren immer sauber. Lage ist einfach klasse, super zentral! Falls wir noch mal für ein verlängertes Wochenende nach Lissabon kommen sollten, kommen wir wieder! :)

Very much enjoyed our stay at the the Poets Privates which is in a very central location which has is perfect for any length of stay in the city. There's transport links on its doorstep, cafe's, restaurants, shops, galleries and old churches to visit. Very friendly staff were at hand and were happy to share their knowledge of the city and the transport links. The room was furnished very tastefully and to a high standard. Very clean and homely, I highly recommend staying here even if just for one night.

Fin de semana sin pegar ojo en este hostel, lo queríamos sólo para descansar por la noche puesto que durante todo el día estábamos haciendo turismo y conociendo cosas de Lisboa. La cuidad la recomendaré allá donde vaya pero nunca hablaré bien de este hostel puesto que la calidad precio es malísima. Muchísimo ruido de los demás huéspedes durante la madrugada, las duchas comunes sin parar de sonar estando pared con pared de nuestra habitación... Horrible!!!!

Don't stay in the apartment! Terrible place, dangerous I ended up in hospital when the stairs collapsed. Management don't care didn't contact me to see how I was recovering and staff were not allowed to provide management contact details e.g. names, email address or phone number

Stayed at the Poets Private residence which is conveniently located in chiado right in the centre of Lisbon. Loved the atmosphere, clean place and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely stay again! Thank you poets hostel!

A localização é maravilhosa bem no largo do Chiado e ao lado da praça Luís de Camões, adorei o Hostel, um bom staff, ficamos acomodado em um quarto arejado e com boas camas, na minha estadia em janeiro de 2017 no inverno europeu a calefação não estava muito boa, porém não foi um grande incômodo.

Place is perfect! We were in 6 sa room was great for us, but idk whats when there is just 2 of u. U have to just live with other people in one room i think. Place is clean and very nice organized. The bigest adventage is localization! Next to cafe brasileria! Breakfast could be better but what to expect for such a nice price!

Great hostel to stay! Very clean and friendly staff that are very helpful if you want to find somewhere to go. Very chill area to relax with large bean bags, a computer and kitchen. They clean everyday and keep the place looking awesome!! I would definitely recommend to anyone. Right beside biax chiado train station. Pictures are as viewed out the windows.

Lisbon Poets Hostel is clean, the staff is friendly, and it's a cool vibe. I stayed in a private room and then in the studio. If you can get the studio I highly recommend it. It was FANTASTIC.

Very central see from my photo how close to the metro, great room with 2 balconies. Very nice staff, book direct with hostel for cheaper rate. Would recommend this for any type of Traveller. They had lots of info on tours and sights (walking tour by chill out tours a definite). Breakfast, WiFi, leave bags for free. 10/10 would come back

Les + : Super hostel. Emplacement parfait au centre de tout. Personnel très sympa. Lit confortable, chambres et sanitaires propres. J'ai adoré le grand salon/salle commune, on y est comme à la maison. Le petit déj est bien aussi.
Les - : presque rien. Peut-être le signal wifi faible depuis les chambres, le lit un peu juste en largeur et les serviettes non incluses.

Ótima localização. Café da manhã básico. Quarto privativo bom no geral (fiquei no Bocage), mas a cortina estava velha e suja. Quatro banheiros ao longo do corredor. Limpeza satisfatória, mas podem melhorar - tanto nos banheiros quanto nos quartos (durante onze dias não houve um único room service!). No check in, não havia toalhas disponíveis para alugar. No geral, ambiente bom para se hospedar, desde que não seja por muitos dias. Atendente Andrea muito simpática e atenciosa.

Какой прекрасный чистый хостел! Мы жили втроем в комнате на шестерых. Персонал очень отзывчивый. Мы общались через переводчик. Помогли нам вызвать трансфер всего за 15 евро в аэропорт. Это безумно крутой хостел. 23 евро с человека, полотенце не выдают. Видимо платить надо отдельно, где-то прочла 2 евро "впрокат"

This was the best hostel experience I ever had. I stayed for a week and it just simply was not enough time. The staff is patient, kind and down to earth. The hostel is very clean, both the single rooms and multi rooms are well maintained and provide a beautiful view of Lisbon. They offer a quaint breakfast and work with local tour guides and pub crawls. The living room is perfect for getting to know people or just quietly keeping to yourself. I also traveled with instruments and was reluctant to leave my stuff there in the room at first, but the staff is very accommodating, especially Tita (I apologize if I spelled your name wrong).
Secondly the location is superb. Basically in the middle of the night life. And a 15 minute walk from the 'boardwalk.'
Next time I visit Lisbon, I'll be sure to seek out the poets again Obrigado!

Great hostel experience! The staff were super friendly, helpful and relaxed. The room was a private double with shared bathrooms and showers. The AC in the room was awesome (in the summer) and the location was quiet enough at night that no disruptions if you sleep early. Located in the middle of town, so everything is an easy walk/metro ride. We loved it here, and would definitely visit and stay here again!

Stayed in one of their apartments for three nights. Great location and the apartment was really nice. Only issue would be all the stairs, not practical for someone who has reduced mobility. I would personally return, Ideal for a weekend away, walking distance to sights and bars/restaurants.

The place is a bit disappointing - quite dark compared to the pictures from my opinion, broken lamp bulbs in toilets and bathrooms, breakfast offer/level is quite poor and the 'parking' is actually 3 places in the streets... so not always available + wewere surprised to come back and see our bedroom door opened while we closed it when we left, but hopefully nothing was missing. Anyway, location is OK :) !

We enjoyed our one night stay. The hostel is very well located to visit most of the centric must-see of the city. The room was nice and big. Since there was 4 of us, we got to stay all together in a room to ourselves. Breakfast was ok. One bad thing, the hostel is located in a 5th floor and the elevator wish out of order

Had an excellent stay, even though just a night. I wish I'd booked it for my entire trip to Lisbon. By far, the best hostel I've stayed at. Everyone working there was fantastic- so courteous and very helpful. The overall ambiance was lovely. Good breakfast, great room and a really nice common area. Not to forget - the location is perfect!

Está perfectamente situado para hacer turismo. Justo debajo tienes una boca de metro. Muy cerca el ascensor de Santa Justa y la iglesia do Carmo.

Location, location, location. Near many wonderful sights, and the "belly of the (nightlife) beast" for those who are so inclined. The apartment was a good deal for $82 euros, bright and airy and clean: just a peak but the dorm seemed fine. Large, comfortable common room. Good, clean facilities. Indefatigable, attentive, helpful staff. Great places to eat nearby ranging from touristy to excellent down home ("Bitok" for 2, 4 beers, a coffee, brandy, and snails for about 24 euros). A good deal.
In a sense they can shorten your stay because you can see so much so quickly, a bonus to someone trying to assemble their biking gear and get on the road (they stored our bikes for us, too). Very, very helpful.

Great place for a chilled stay, more of a lodgers rest than a hostel, staff were accommodating and facilities were good. Large lockers and easily accessible 24/7. Breakfast was ok. Lounge is top notch for reading and relaxing! Not many english books to browse sadly though!

All around great experience. The room was clean and super quiet with 4 guests. Parties on the street below were happening, but it's to be expected in this barrio. The morning breakfast exceeds what I'd expect for an inexpensive hostel- toast and jam, ham, cereal and muesli with milk- more of a standard American breakfast. I enjoyed a free walking tour and the hostel couldn't be in a better location. All of the staff were super friendly, as were the guests. I met 2 writers and enjoyed walking around with several guests. I look forward to returning soon!

I stayed here this past weekend with my friend and had a great experience here! The staff is super friendly and helpful. I recommend the Sintra tour, it's 35 euros and so worth it! Our tour guide took us to the palace with the well, a beautiful lookout, and a beach. On each ride, he let us jam out to all our favorite songs from the 90's haha he was a trooper forsure. Such a fun weekend and I recommend it to anyone! The hostel is in the best location with the best food and cocktails.

Great hostel. Small, amazig athmosphere, cool chill out area / living room with lovely views from the centre of Lisbon, as the location is the best. The free breakfast is more than ok, very clean showers and bathrooms which always helps, and they clean everything daily. Comfy and cosy beds, and amazing staff as well. They have lots of tours to join, ideas and suggestions to make your trip easy, and amazing cookers that offers you a delicious dinner daily for 10€ (especially the lovely Suki!) where you can join and meet the other guests! Couldn't be better!

Very good location. Literally 20 steps from the Baixo Chiado Metro Station. Good breakfast. Clean and comfortable beds. Clean toilets and showers. Spacious kitchen and lounge area. Setback - street noise and there wasn't a hot water kettle in the kitchen. Nevertheless, I would highly recommend this hostel. I slept well and got all I needed.The FREE day tour is worth it!

Tolles, gemütliches und sauberes Hostel.
Besonders gut hat uns das täglich angebotene Abendessen gefallen: 3 leckere Gänge inkl. Getränke für nur 10 €. Ein wenig überraschend war allerdings, dass viele der Gäste schon etwas älter waren. Da kann es schonmal vorkommen, dass man das Zimmer mit einer Dame in den frühen 60gern teilt... Nichts desto trotz hat das Poets Hostel 5 Sterne mehr als verdient, denn es war eines der besten Hostels, indem ich je eingecheckt habe.

A very nice place to stay and explore Lisbon! Just 50m from the metro station and within walking distance of almost all highlights of Lisbon. Staff is very friendly and knows the good food and Fado music places. I loved the fact that each bed has its own large locker which fits your whole backpack! :)

Great studio apartment in the very central Chiado. Open kitchen-living-room-dining-room plus a bedroom in the garret. Nice shower, modern furniture and good air-conditioning. Beware of the very narrow, very steep stairs if you're not young or in good shape!
The staff is very friendly and helpful and the breakfast is much better than one would expect in this kind of hostel, with fresh seasonal fruit (melon and watermelon in august, plus oranges), good portuguese coffee, cereals, several sorts of sliced bread, ham, jam and a different kind of very tasty cake every day.
The best wifi connection I have experienced in a hotel lately. Much faster than in any four star hotel!

Das Hostel ist wirklich sehr empfehlenswert. Die Lage ist ausgezeichnet (könnte mir keine bessere vorstellen!), alles ist sehr sauber, das Frühstück bietet von allem etwas (keine Riesenauswahl aber weit über Hostel-Standard) und das beste sind die Mitarbeiter, alle sehr freundlich und helfen gerne weiter.
Angenehm ist, dass sich das Hostel im 5. Stock befindet, wodurch es nicht so laut ist in den Zimmern.

There are a lot of positives about this hostel. Firstly, the staff are super friendly and very helpful, making you feel right at home. They have a lot of time for their guests and don't sweat the small stuff. The place is very clean and the relaxed communal setting makes it easy to meet people. My friend and I stayed at the hostel 4 nights while we were in Lisbon. It's a great hostel, very central location, clean and comfortable beds and great common area to relax. The staff were very kind and helpful. The breakfast provided was also great. My only comment is there is a lot of noise from the street during the night because it is a busy part of town (however we did stay during a peak summer period) but if you aren't a light sleeper then it shouldn't be an issue. Would definitely recommend!

I had a fantastic three weeks in one of the two Lisbon Poets Hostel studio apartments. The location is perfect and the hostel staff members are super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The studio was equipped with everything I needed and it was in great shape. I would absolutely stay here again, and I highly recommend it to others.

Brilliant experience. Cozy common rooms as well as secluded private rooms. Got a free upgrade because it was possible and dinner even though it was hours after the chefs were supposed to go home! Did the flea market tour, as well, and it was altogether well executed!

Fantastic place in Baixa Chiado. I stayed in the private double room. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, and there were plenty of bathrooms to share. Great common room and kitchen makes it easy to meet people. All of the employees I met--Joanna, Pedro, and Laura--were kind and helpful. The activities organized by the hostel, such as the Fado music night, are simply a small group of people going out together with one person who knows the city well, and is a great way to see new things without feeling like you're in a massive tourist group parading around the city. You would be foolish not to stay here.

My friends and I stayed at the Poets Hostel in Lisbon for about 3 nights and it was absolutely wonderful! The hostel is conveniently located next to a metro station and is also walking distance from the train station. All of the staff were just terrific and super accommodating as well (shout out to Laura who gave my friends and I such a great tour of the city!). I only wish we could have stayed longer, but I will definitely be back in the Poets Hostel when I visit Portugal again.

Been to this hostel for the first time, online booking at the same day (direct), quite late arrival. Very friendly and helpful reception, super location in the city center. Beautiful and clean rooms, including showers, everything seems like renovated just yesterday.

I had a wonderful experience at this hostel, the only issue being the not that great wi-fi signal in my room but that's solvable by going to the living room. The hostel's localization is spot-on, you can go to anywhere in Lisbon from here. The pictures on the website are a 100% match of what you get when you see it in real life. I stayed at a 6 mixed dorm and the room was spacious enough for everyone and the bed was extremely comfortable. Every time I walked into the bathrooms they were clean and in order. The free breakfast was tasty, everything at disposal was really good. The staff always had a smile on their faces and were one of the most kind, cheerful, helpful and nicest staff I've had the pleasure to meet. If I ever need a place to stay at Lisbon again, I'll definitely be coming back to Poets.

This hostel is located in a fantastic location in Lisbon. The price is right and there is a large lounge area and kitchen to hang out in. The only complaint that I could make about this hostel is that there were not power outlets by each bed. Other than that, my stay was great!

it was really nice guest house! very clean and bright and kind! and most of all, metro station "Baixa-Chiado" is very very near. and staffs are very kind and speaking English. and there is a elevator. and breakfast is very nice. so if i stay Lisbon again, absolutely i wanna go there! ^^

Everything was very good! Very nice rooms and a very good location! Nice Stuff!!!! But the Breakfast is a little bit narrow. just 2 kinds of cornflakes, white bread, tee, coffee, ananas, oranges, york and butter.

Poets Hostel is very central, located perfectly between the shopping and the party area.
The rooms and facilities are very clean, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful and always available for any questions.
All in all, I've already stayed twice there and certainly know I will again.

Not the typical backpacker hostel. Stayed at a nice double bedroom. has some parking possibilities which is awesome for this location (centre of Lisbon).

1st Part:
I am a French woman of African origin, have staged several times in this hostel, I think a very beautiful and pleasant place. I am a regular customer and attend the hostel there three years.
Unfortunately yesterday I had a very negative episode; get off work at night 4:30 in the morning (dawn on 12 February) beneath the rain and was greeted to a lady (blonde) who opened the door to me saying about some beds available in the hostel. but then informed me that I was in hostel's black list and I could not back at the hostel.
The worst thing was that I asked the reasons about the fact that I'll not be able to stay at the hostel, and she told me that there was no reason or maybe was a mistake.
Being a good customer who never bothered anyone of the guests, always paid all, and I have legal European documents, I was shocked by this episode.
Today called at 22; 15 (recorded call) at night, and the very serious thing was that the man who told me from the reception told me taht I stay on the black list without explaining the reasons. He said that did not find the reasons and I can't return at the hostel.
I am writing this because I was victim of an injustice and because they forced me to go outside into the night alone and without valid reasons.
So I had to leave the hostel at 5:00 am, running the risks on the night to look for another hostel finding the hostel "PH in Chiado", where I was welcomed graciously.
I'm waiting for a response and I want to know what actions you will take to resolve the situation; of course I would like to know the reasons.

Dear Ricardo Castro
what was my missbehavior that caused my expulsion from Hostel on the middle of the night of 12 February?
I wrote all the details and you gave me a false answer, without details.
I have all the evidence that I did not anything wrong at that night (such as on other days) since you have camera to record what happened.
So I insist that you, have to tell me the valid reasons for my expulsion from the hostel at that night (and I repeat there was the camaras recording).
I also recorded (the next day) a call where you were not able to explain a valid reason about the episode.
You are tarnishing my person and my reputation.
If you don't have a valid reason given to me I have to think that your hostel is racist or maybe that the blond lady when talking with me, she was uncomfortable with the presence of a woman of another skin color and also with my good education.
Put a person on a blacklist is a serious thing and I want to know in detail the reasons.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are good, but the most important thing to mention is the great atmosphere! Also, it's a great value for your money.

In tutto e per tutto un Ostello con la O maiuscola, situato praticamente al centro di Lisbona, personale gentilissimo, prezzi veramente ottimi, camere pulite e con infissi nuovissimi, qualità dei servizi molto buona, la colazione inclusa nel prezzo e la sala tempo libero molto originale, anche presente la cucina con tutti i servizi funzionanti.

Perhaps the best hostel I've ever stayed in. Fantastic staff, great location, nicely decorated living room. Everything very clean and plenty of space available to sit down in a leather chair and relax. Highly recommend the dinner for just ten euros offered daily (at least during the period of my stay). A place for solo travellers as well as small groups. Definitely worth the money (also: there are discounts during the winter months).

ESTE É SEMPRE O MEU PREFERIDO NAS MINHAS VIAGENS A LISBOA. Tudo o que escrevo e pouco para representar o que sinto e penso. Há grande simpatia e disponibilidade de todos os colaboradores, todos os cómodos estão sempre muito limpos e asseados a qualquer hora do dia ou da noite, a decoração é bonita e agradável, todos os quartos tem luz natural com varandas e vistas para a rua mas, onde e apesar de tudo, imperam o silencio e o respeito pelo outro. A localização e excelente, não podia ser melhor A opção do jantar é também uma mais valia pois permite o convívio e da a conhecer a cozinha portuguesa numa casa portuguesa com certeza; recomendo vivamente, entre outros o arroz de pato que estava divinal.... POR TUDO ISTO DOU 5 ESTRELAS PRQUE NÃO POSSO DAR MAIS. RECOMENDO MUINTO.

I had a wonderful time staying at the Lisbon Poets Hostel. The warm and comfortable atmosphere along with the polite and helpful staff helped make my experience a great one. It is a small hostel which was good because the common area never felt overcrowded and the bedrooms were easy to sleep in having only 6 beds. The cleaning staff were also very friendly and they did a phenomenal good job keeping the place spotless. I would stay at the Lisbon Poets Hostel again and again.

The best location to visit Lisbon downtown. The dorms and the bathroom were very clean and comfortable. The living room and kitchen were very very nice... the books, the mood, the sofas! Nice staff and great breakfast!

Great Location, didn't need to worry about travelling to get the feel of the city at any time during the day and always had something to look forward to on the way back from a long day out. The staff were awesome, very welcoming and had some really cool suggestions for places to go. Very relaxed atmosphere inside, only regret is that we didn't try the dinner!

Amazing staff that was so very helpful. They went out of our way to remember us and ensure our stay was comfortable, while also finding us taxis and making sure we would get to the airport ok. Can't recommend enough. There is a lot of noise in that area because it is in the center of the Lisbon nightlife. Great area to meet people and explore the sights. Also right next to a great beerhall.

An amazing and cute hostel! The staff is very friendly and social, the artistic rooms were comfortable and spacy. Also we had a balcony were we could have a smoke. The location is perfect! Close to the city centre but also to Barrio Alto, the nightlife 'quarter' and close to the metro/bus station. The rooms and bathrooms were perfectly clean. In short, a great accommodation to stay at when visiting Lisbon, also when you would like to have privacy in a hostel!

Very nice hostel in the Centre of Lisbon with lots of things to see en do in walking distance and a metro station just around the corner.
We were in the "Double Bed Private Room Ensuite". A big room, with a big bed, and a private shower. Every thing was very clean!
The staff was very helpful. Lots of advise on Lisbon. We could store or bags at the hostel before we could enter the room. Also on the day we left we could store our bags. Very nice!
The free breakfast is simple, but good. Plenty of things to choose from.
The atmosphere was very warm. Lots of places to sit, or make your self comfortable. We didn't chat much with the other guest, but they all seem very nice.
Next time we visit Lisbon we will definitely stay at Lisbon Poets Hostel!

Ik kwam onaangekondigd aan om drie uur s'nachts en kreeg een prima bed aan een heel schappelijk prijsje van 17'5€. Het bleek een heel leuke herberg te zijn waar je heel gemakkelijk mensen ontmoet doordat er veel samen gebeurt; samen ontbijten, samen gaan wandelen,..
Ideaal voor backpackers die enkele dagen Lissabon willen verkennen.

It was a great time in Lisbon and most part of it I own to the lovely people I met at Lisbon Poets Hostel. The bedroom and bathrooms are super clean, the staff is wonderful and are always ready to help you anytime. The place is really clean, comfortable and quiet. The location couldn't be better (right in the middle of the best neighborhoods ever: Chiado and Bairro Alto), also the activities the hostel offers are really fun.

One of the best hostels I have ever stayed at. Excellent location minutes away from Bairro Alto, friendly and helpful staff, super clean. They also organise cool programmes for almost every day, like sightseeing, fado nights, etc. I would definitely recommend it!

Without a doubt the best hostel I have stayed at in Europe....and I have been traveling intensively for about three years.
The location is perfect....after touring around Lisboa and the area and exhausted, the poets hostel is 30 meters from the Metro...and they have a lift.
The staff was the best, always helpful and providing insights to the best and authentic restaurants, the best Fado bars, great walking tours, how to catch buses to spain and other parts of Portugal, and much more.....Thank you Ricardo, Joanna, Pedro Tita, Teja and the Fado guide (sorry forget nombre).....and the best deal in town is the dinner for only 10 euros....Wellington is the chef and a tornado in the kitchen...with a three course meal that competes with the five star hotel.
In the end, I highly recommend the Poets hostel and will definitely stay there again. Thank you soooo much.

El hostal esta muy bien, las habitaciones son agradables, estuve en una privada, con aire acondicionado, que es muy bueno durante el verano.
esta muy bien ubicado, en un barrio con mucho movimiento, tiendas y restaurantes. para mi esta en la mejor zona de Lisboa. Es una muy buena elección.
lo unico es que en los pasillos hay un poco de ruido, ya que todo el mundo tira las puertas de las habitaciones.

My favourite place in Lisbon! The hostel is charming and clean, just over the corner of Baixa Chiado. Staff is super helpful and please partecipate to the collateral activities because they're great.
Sheets and breakfast are provided and towels can be rented for pennies.
Very young enviroment, still it's not noisy at night.

I stayed in a single private room, which is on the 4th floor of the building (Poets Hostel occupies the top 2 floors of the building). I never had any issues getting space in one of the four the bathrooms, which are all private and clean. I biggest issue with the place is noise. My room didn't have an AC unit and in the summer it gets hot in Lisbon. The hostel is located in an extremely busy and active spot in Lisbon. No matter the night of the week, there was loud music and lots of noise (both people and cars honking) until at least 2am. If I kept the balcony door shut, it kept most of the noise out, but I was never able to keep it closed long because of the temperature. Aside from that, the entry door to the private hostel floor hasn't been maintained and must be slammed shut in order to close it (the door doesn't fit in the frame properly). Since there is very little sound insulation in the building, between the hours of 7am and 11am, the door is opening and literally slamming every couple of minutes. You'd be lucky to get 5 quiet hours of sleep here...
Their beds are OK in terms of comfort, but their sheets have polyester in them and, again, during the summer heat and lack of AC... It can be difficult to stay cool.
The staff was young and friendly and the WiFi worked throughout (although was very slow at some points).

I got a private room with a girl friend of mine. The room was SUPER CLEAN and very spacious (Borges was the name of the room and there was a king size bed). Breakfast came free and also towels (I think for the dorms you normally have to pay 2€ for the towels). The breakfast was simple: cereals, some fruit, toast, jam and juice. It was filling though. The towels were clean, big, and comfortable. The people at the front desk were very very nice and helpful. The living / dining area was extremely spacious. There were activities and dinner every night, but we did not get a chance to enjoy that. The shared showers for the private rooms were clean and spacious and we never had problems getting them (there were 4 of them). I think the atmosphere of the hostel also helped because it wasn´t filled with crazy party people (maybe because we got a private room). It was very calm and even though the doors were a little thin so that you can hear people talking loudly in the hallway we never heard anything late at night or early morning. Also, wifi worked perfectly everywhere. I will definitely recommend this to everyone I know and go back here. The location is also PERFECT and close to everything important.

The hostel is absolutely charming, warm and welcoming. The staff is cool, kind and helpful. All in all, it gives an extra plus to Lisbon atmosphere and we really enjoyed it. If we would go back to Lisbon, we would stay at the same place :) Thanks guys, for a very pleasant time!

The best hostel that I have ever stayed in and I have stayed in a lot!
What is not to like about the creative and artistic decor along with the relaxed vibe and friendly staff. The hostel was spacious and clean and my private room was extremely good value. The bathrooms were also very clean and nice hot showers were always available.
The hostels location is a plus as you are central to all the main sights.

Nice hostel. Cool, friendly staff, some good tours, and a really awesome cheap dinner cooked by their chef (seriously, it was a great 3 course meal for 10 euros, way better value than any restaurant in the area). Would stay here again, although I would try to avoid the dorm directly opposite reception as it can get a bit loud.

Poets Hostel is in the heart of Lisbon. Above Havana Cigar shop where you can buy a box 10 x Montecristo No. 2's for less that 100 euros! Oh but yes the hostel is very nice with really nice sexy people always staying there.

Loved this place! Would take it over any Hotel in Lisbon. Safe, Clean and Location, Location etc! Get up in the morn and look out over Rossio Square with its hustle and bustle and street music! Lean out of the window and breathe in the wonderful city of Lisbon.
Very centrally located, very safe and very clean. I would be hard pressed to take any other lodging over this. I am a 64 year old woman who had never stayed in a hostel before Poets in Lisbon. If I ever return to Lisbon, I will be certain that it will be when I can stay here.
