Small and cozy family restaurant. There is only a few tables so it’s quite difficult to find a place and always busy here. But if you wait a little you can come in and have nice dinner. They give a bread basket with butter and pate for each visitor which you can enjoy while waiting for dishes. Dishes are delicious and prices the lowest we’ve seen here. Highly recommend to visit this restaurant in the old area of Lisbon.

Lovely local family restaurant - the seafood rice is one of the best meals I have ever had. And the pork leg is delicious if you are a meat lover. And the wine is cheap!!

Bon restaurant, serveur un peu '' rugueux'', mais en étant toujours aimable. Très bonne assiette, et tarif raisonnable (plat, dessert, vin pour moins de 20 eur). Et le cadre est sympa, ainsi que la musique (les flamands roses étaient avec nous !).

Liebe Gastronomen. Ihr wisst doch, dass wir Gäste durch Facebook, Google, Tripadvisor und Co inzwischen vernichtende Bewertungen schreiben können. Das ist meine erste dieser Art: Bei Regen sind in diesem Viertel Lissabons Ende Januar nur wenig Touristen unterwegs. Das ursprüngliche Restaurant unserer Wahl hatte leider schon geschlossen. Das O Arco hat uns als einziges Restaurant auf dem Weg zurück ins Hotel angelacht. Freundlich eingerichtet, ältere lokale Herrschaften beim Abendessen - eine vermeintlich angenehme Atmosphäre. Der erste Eindruck bestätigte sich, als meine Freundin und ich zu essen bestellen wollten. Die Kellnerin war sehr nett und nahm mir die Angst davor Oktopus zu bestellen. Sie versicherte mir, dass dieser sehr gut schmecken würde. Dazu bestellten wir einen Salat. Der Salat kam zuerst. Ein ordentlicher bodenständiger grüner Salat mit Gurken, Tomaten und Zwiebeln. Gute Menge. Wenig später dann der Oktopus, schön angerichtet und mit ganzen Kartoffeln garniert. Auf den ersten Blick vielversprechend, wenngleich ein wenig angebrannt. Nicht unüblich beim Oktopus. Leider hatte dieser Oktopus seine beste Zeit bereits hinter sich. Er war nicht versehentlich angebrannt worden. Es wurde durch langes braten versucht den Oktopus seines beißenden Geruchs zu berauben. Ein Geruch wie man ihn von ranzigem Hähnchen kennt. Nachdem ich das ranzige Tentakel probiert habe, stand fest, ich werde meinen Ekel nicht überwinden und meinen Teller nicht aus Anstand aufessen. Bis zu diesem Punkt hätte ich mich nicht veranlasst gefühlt eine vernichtende Bewertung zu schreiben. Das nun folgende dreiste Verhalten lässt mir allerdings keine andere Wahl. Das offensichtlich ungenießbare Essen stellte ich bei Seite. Gleich neben die, in Portugal leider häufig üblich, ungefragt servierten, bei Konsum kostenpflichtigen Vorspeisen (Brot, Oliven, Frischkäse, Pasteten, Butter) im Gegenwert von über 10€. Während wir den Salat aßen, beobachtete ich das Verhalten der Kellnerin gegenüber meinem nicht weiter angerührten Teller. Ignorant und gleichgültig trifft es am besten. Nach etwa 10-15 Minuten steckte sie kurz von draußen kommend (Sie stand dort kurz mit einigen zwielichtigen Gestalten) ihren Kopf ins Restaurant und fragte mich: „Good?“ Ich erwiderte: „No“. Schockierten Blickes widmete sie sich wieder Ignoranz und Gleichgültigkeit. Etwa 10 Minuten später kam die Köchin aus der Küche und bot mir die Karte an, um mir ein Alternativgericht auszusuchen. Von kostenlosem Tausch war nicht die Rede. Der inzwischen aus der Küche hinüber wabernde Gestank des angebrannten Oktopus und die Angst vor einer weiteren miserablen Mahlzeit veranlassten mich dazu abzulehnen. Ich bestellte die Rechnung - die letzte Chance, um mir die Arbeit an dieser Bewertung zu ersparen. Vertan. Der Oktopus wurde voll berechnet. Da es sich beim O Arco, um ein einfaches Restaurant handelt und die Preise nicht exorbitant sind, habe ich alles bezahlt ohne im Vorfeld zu diskutieren. Nach der Bezahlung machte ich die Kellnerin darauf aufmerksam, dass ich es nicht korrekt sei den Oktopus zu berechnen. Nach einer kurzen Rückversicherung beim hinter uns sitzenden alten Mann (wohl der Chef) und der in der Küche stehende Frau griff sie auf alt bewährte Tugenden zurück: Ignoranz und Gleichgültigkeit. Meine Anmerkung wurde lediglich mit einem verachtenden Blick bestraft. Und die Moral von der Geschichte: Gehe nicht in Touristen Hot Spots essen ohne eine explizite Empfehlung für ein Restaurant zu bekommen. Und: Das O Arco ist ignorant, dreist und nicht gastfreundlich.

Qualidade acima da média

Preis Leistung ist hier unschlagbar. Sehr lecker und reichhaltig. Nicht umsonst essen die Portugiesen hier.

The waitress was very impolite. She started ticking impatiently her pen on her order pad after waiting (no more than 30 secs) for us to decide. At that time it was very quite so she had no excuse. I dropped a meaningful eye on her, as we were quite upset by her body language and she stopped but moments later she started ticking it again. Best to us there were sitting 6-7 people and I also noticed that just after they left their table, she started talking rather angry in Portuguese with the rest of the staff. Probably she didn’t like something (again) and that gave us negative feelings once again. Food was nothing special and to this I have to add that they had some fish (sea breams etc) behind a glass facing the street. The fish looked stale and dull by that time I was wondering why they don’t have fresh fish on sight, I saw I hand grabbing one of them probably to serve to a tourist. OMG!!! On top of all the above they brought the bill in a hand written paper which I attach. Black money at its best. Needless to say it was expensive for what we ordered. A local guy recommended this restaurant to us i still don’t understand why.

Great to good food, good wine, bad desert and unprofessional service. Very good grilled octupus. The young potatoes side dish was very VERY good. Ok cod, too heavy on raw garlic. There's a lot of oil in there, but it's perfumed with the taste of the main ingredients, so it's good. I wish it was tasting just a little bit more the olive oil. Decent wine. The "hotel" butter and pâté capsules looked very unappealing. The servers don't know what they are doing but are helpful, best they can do. Good value.

I ordered meat pie at it was just very very salty plahh. I have had even better food from my school cafeteria. It wasn’t worth it’s price.

Boa noite, O senhor proprietário do espaço e a sua funcionária cuja educação deixa muita a desejar que deve considerar que ameaça as pessoas que frequentam o espaço por ter um ar um pouco ou quanto a desejar....expulsaram o meu amigo por ser brasileiro!!!!!! Em Portugal isto acontece!!! Que seres humanos e profissionais são estes? NÃO CONTINUEM A COMER AQUI!!!!!! Seres humanos de pupu.... merecem zero.... obrigada Atenciosamente Nádia

I wish I could give this place less than one star based solely on the owner's behavior. We went in one night with another family - a total of nine people. The owner took our order (our kids weren't hungry so only the adults were eating) and then left. We ordered appetizers, entrees, drinks and a bottle of wine. The owner came back a few minutes later angry. He was upset that the kids were taking up seats and not eating. He told us several times that they shouldn't be at the table if they are not eating. We grew very uncomfortable and left. It's a small restaurant so everyone was able to see exactly what was going on. He didn't seem to care. His server was definitely embarrassed. It's shocking that someone in the hospitality business was so inhospitable. This is certainly not a family friendly restaurant.

Best Food we had in our one week in Lisbon and Porto! And the prices are absolutely reasonable for the excellent taste and big portions you'll get, even cheaper than in most restaurants around. Definitely recommended!

La plus belle découverte culinaire de Lisbonne, au coeur de l'Alfama ! Un restaurant qui ne paie pas de mine à première vue mais qui régale les papilles. Les quelques tables installées dans l'étroite ruelle sont à privilégier. Un service impeccable. Mais l'essentiel est dans l'assiette !!! Le poulpe grillé, le porc à l'alentejana, le meilleur de la gastronomie portugaise...fréquenté par les locaux et préservé des hordes de touristes

Tuvimos que esperar 45 minutos a que nos sirvieran la comida estando nosotros solos en el local. Eso si, la comida increíble con buena cantidad.

Posto caratteristico nel centro di Alfama, siamo tornati due volte,cucina tipica portoghese consigliatissimo Baccalà alla griglia e Polpo sempre alla griglia.Soddisfazione totale e un dieci a chi ci ha servito.

Typical Portuguese (not tourist) restaurant. I liked it because you are treated normal, not exaggerating like in some places here around. Food is good and also a lot of local people. No live music when I was there but fado from the speakers.

Service is definitely sub par; waitress and manager have a bad attitude. We were there around 11PM and were told most items are unavailable. Ordered sea bass, was burnt outside and uncooked inside. Portuguese pork dish didn't taste good and we were overcharged. I don't recommend the place.

Shrimps we got were normal, salad was made with big grain of salt . The waitress wasn't friendly, we had impression, that she is doing us a huge favor to serve a meal. Not enough space inside the restaurant: stuff had to pass al the time to space behind our backs to get to shelfs and things they needed. Do not recommend!

Fado na żywo. Poproście o drugie menu, nie te ogólne, tam są zestawy i wychodzą taniej.

Gutes Restaurant mit nem gewissen Charme. Preis gut, Fleisch war schön saftig (portugiesische Schwein),aber auf die Rechnung muss man rauf schauen. Oliven waren bei uns bitter.

Senza pretese come a casa, cortesia e disponibilità dell oste, piatti abbondanti e tipici, locale tipico con pochi posti ma curati, buoni anche dolci della casa.

Um dos melhores locais em Alfama para comer uma boa refeição portuguesa. A comida é óptima e as doses são bem servidas. Simpatia também não falta. Aconselho!!
