What a great find. They say you should always eat where the locals do, and this place had lots of locals, despite being in a touristy area. The service was quick and friendly. The waiter, who also spoke decently in English, made some great recommendations. The starters were excellent, bit the grilled octopus... I'll be thinking of that grilled whole octopus for a long, long time. It was delicious. Perfectly grilled and tender as can be. Prepared simply with butter with lots of fresh garlic. At the end of the meal I was introduced to Aguardente, which is a Portuguese eau de vie. Highly recommended.

A grelha mais famosa de Santa Marta pelo seu frango no churrasco. Existem outras alternativas ao frango nomeadamente o bife. A garrafeira é muito bem composta com várias opções de grande qualidade, onde o pormenor da máquina de vinho a copo se destaca pelas mais diversas razões. As sobremesas são caseiras e tradicionais com duas alternativas menos clássicas. Tem esplanada pequena mas agradável. Os preços são dentro do razoável. O estacionamento é caótico.

Le meilleur poulpe grillé du Portugal. Le reste est en rapport avec un accueil chaleureux (parle Français en plus]. Prix très raisonnables. Nous avions réservé 2 mois à l'avance. Ce n'était pas du luxe.

Impresentable, después de 40 minutos que nos habían tomado la comanda, esperando en la mesa, seguíamos comiendo solo mantequilla y pan y eso si, bebiendo vino, les dijimos a los camareros que nos trajeran la comida ( habíamos pedido pollos a la brasa (Frangos), nada de otro mundo) pero nos daban largas, a la hora de esperar nos levantamos las seis personas que eramos y pedimos la cuenta del vino y la mantequilla y el encargado encima se nos puso borde por que decía que solo llevábamos 15 minutos, lamentablemente el tipo, eso sí toda la gente de fuera que venía a por pollos se los daban y a los clientes de sala nada, había también dos mujeres al lado Inglesas que estaban antes que nosotros y tampoco las trajeron nada de comida, no os lo recomiendo amigos y si vais que tengáis más suerte, un abrazo.

Had the half chicken & fries. Had watch the cook thru the window for a few days when pasting and decided to try it. The chicken was good. The staff is slow. But a good meal. I was here Sept 2016. It's now March 2019 and I'm back in Lisbon. I had to come back and try the BBQ chicken. Beware BBQ chicken means grilled chicken no BBQ sauce. The half chicken is £7.00 or whole chicken £13.50. I ordered a mix salad but it never showed up.
So after 2 years the staffs still slow!
The food is good, just beware of service.

Sehr nettes kleines Lokal. Das Essen hat uns super geschmeckt, sehr guter gegrillter Fisch. Das Personal wirklich zuvorkommend . Es wird auch deutsch gesprochen, jedenfalls ein Kellner konnte deutsch, was dann doch manchmal recht gut ist.

I went to the Chú-Chú restaurant with a friend. Very nice service. We asked for a mix of meat dish that had really nice presentation but at the end it was a considerable quantity of bones and not meat. The dish came with a salad. I took a glass of Porto 10 years wine really tasty. I hive 3 stars due we found a piece of plastic on the meat. Kitchen should be a are of this.

Espera muito longa sem motivo aparente, os funcionários andam de um lado para o outro parecem baratas tontas questionei a demora desculpa que o prato que pedi demorava a grelhar,pedi entrecosto um bitoque qu se pediu bem passado vinha quase em sangue e demorou o mesmo tempo até o café foi difícil servir, no entanto se falar uma língua que não seja português até servem água no copo e só não andam com os clientes ao colo porque estão sentados, um sítio para esquecer.

Excelente calidad de los productos que tomamos: filete de ternera poco hecho y pollo. Todo a la brasa. La cerveza Sagres muy muy fría. Riquísima. A atención de los camareros superior. La ensalada de frutas variada de postre realmente recomendable. Todo a un precio nada caro. Recomendable.

Zostaliśmy bardzo dobrze obsłużeni, jedzenie było znakomite, świeże, porcje spore (duże). Kelnerzy bardzo kontaktowi i uprzejmi. Na koniec dostaliśmy po kiliszeczku lokalnego secjału. Wyszedłem zadowolony, bardzo zachęcam do odwiedzenia restauracji chu-chu. Jak znów będę w Lizbonie, napewno tu zajrzę. Aha, charakter restauracji jest raczej lokalny niż nastawiony na turystów, być może dlaczego było tak fajnie.

Este restaurante ha sido un descubrimiento. Sin trampa para el turista y con comida en cantidad con raciones de calidad. Mi pareja y yo nos pusimos morados a comer por menos de 28€. Tienen carta en Español y el camarero no domina bien el idioma pero hace esfuerzos por entenderte y ser entendido. Además, el servicio es rapidísimo.

Food was quite satisfactory, sadly spoilt by deceptive upselling
Basket of bread was placed on the table with butter, and spreads. The toasted breads, appeared to have made its rounds at a few tables before us as it was very dry. Small print at the bottom of menu stated that we should have return it if we did not want to be charged for it.
We were charged an extra €8.60, which was a RIP off
The waiter was rude, when this was brought to his attention

Had such a great time here. Our waiter pulled the classic trick of looking stern but ending up hilarious and helpful. The grilled chicken and chips were lovely - simple and effective - and the beer was excellent. Definitely recommended!

Decent restaurant with very reasonable prices. I paid €20 (including a €2 tip) for a grilled Sea Bass (the fish was fresh), olives, a bread basket, a large glass of red wine and an espresso (February 2020). The fish was really tasty and had presumably just been prepared because they have a glass counter next to the entrance showing their fresh seafood.
The waiters speak basic English and they have menus in multiple languages too.

ОЧЕНЬ РЕКОМЕНДУЮ!!! Ужинали там три раза и вернулись бы снова!!! Всё очень вкусно : курочка, чёрная свинюшка, осьминог, лубина, картошечка, овощной салатик и замечательное домашнее красное вино.
На человека выходит 15€
Много где перекусывали в процессе гуляния никого лучше Chú-Chú по цене и качеству не нашли. Спасибо огромное за вкусную еду и отличный сервис

The restaurants as all fresh cut meat pork beef and fish . Average price for a plate only is 12 euros then add bread water wine etc. nice atmosphere , I think they are closed on Sunday . Like many restaurants in that area
Which is office area depends on lunch time for office workers so many of them in that area close on Sunday . This street is called Santa Marta which changes the name near down town to São José street .
In general it’s a good family run restaurant good average meal with wine around between 20 - 25 euros. Per person .

Visited Chu-Chu on a busy Saturday evening as family with 3 kids. The owner went out of his way to accomodate a party of 7 without a booking and was great with the kids -they even have an ice cream fridge. Service was attentive and food very good, especially the grilled chicken and the fresh fish & octopus. Would highly recommend.

Didn’t know the portions well and turned out ordering way too much food (no kind warning from the waitress). Grilled cod was too salty to finish, grilled pork flank was very plain, grilled chicken was good. Charged 1.6 euro for bread, 3.5 euro for a small plate of cheese, and 1 euro for each jam, although we didn’t ask for any of them. I know it’s common in Europe to serve bread and cheese/butter without asking the customers and the price is usually very reasonable — that’s why I didn’t bother asking the price at the beginning. Very disappointed

Service long, les insultes en langue portugaise fusent dans le restaurant entre les serveurs.
Nous demandons plusieurs fois quelque chose à l'un des serveurs qui même au bout de la 5eme fois fait l'inverse de ce que nous demandions.
Pour finir repas servi très froid et pas très bon.

Our roasted chicken was excellent! Together with rice in butter, it was a heaven!! A must try if you visit Chú-Chú. Their prawns in garlic was also good. Service was good and fast. They do take away as well and credit cards are excepted.

Wir waren dort zweimal Essen einmal Huhn (Spetialität des Hauses) und Fisch (Dorade). Beides sehr schnell und lecker serviert. Das Personal sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Außerdem alles zu einem gutem Preis. Um abends günstig satt zu werden genau das Richtige.

La repas très bien. Par contre, le fait de devoir payer pour tous et je dis bien tous à gâché notre expérience. Une corbeille de pain 2.5 € bon ça va mais en plus 1€ pour tu beurre industriel en capsule.... il y a des limite à abuser des touristes!

Sea food was beautifully cooked and lightly seasoned. The salad had fresh ingredients. Busy and popular place so was hard to get a table right away. Other than that I would return.

Not so great. Reasonable price may be, but even a greek salad has no dressing. Was recommended by a hostel, but the service is slow, not interested and unhelpful. Vegetarians stay away. Nothing interesting here.

I was not even done with ordering and the waitress left and brought the wrong bread. When the bread came it tasted like rocks. We paid 5 euros for small pieces of butter that came from a package, we didn't even order it tho. The steak tasted like my shoe, like rubber and not fresh. When the owner asked if everything was oke, we told this to him.
He started defending the restaurant by saying it was all fresh and perfect......
Not even to begin about the fries, like they got drowned in their own oil.
My friend even threw up.

I ordered a shrimp salad. Somehow it took 20 minutes for it to come despite the place being fairly empty. While I waited, I nibbled on the hard bread and supermarket-quality spreadable "cheese" that had been sitting on the table long before I got there. The flavor combinations in the salad were odd to put it nicely, and the dressing bottles were almost impossible to use. After finishing my meal and drinking the water (since for whatever reason they don't have tap water), I asked for my bill. That took another 15 minutes for 3 different people to get to me. When I looked at the bill, I was surprised to find that my €7.50 salad cost me €11.30! Turns out, the bread and spreads that appeared to be complementary (and weren't on the menu) cost one euro each! On top of that, I saw the chef walk away from the cutting area with a glove on his hand. He then used that hand to open the cash register, ount coins, then return to the cutting area, all without removing or replacing the glove. Suffice it to say I will not be returning.

Atendimento muito simpático. Até achei estranho pois estava à espera de um atendimento mais carrancudo devido ao tipo de restaurante. A comida vem muito bem servida e bem grelhada. Pedi a grelhada mista é só achei que tinha muito frango. A carta de vinhos é muito boa e têm vinhos a um preço bastante acessível!

No final da refeição pedi um licor quando me deparei quase no final da minha bebida que tinha uma formiga no gelo como estava confiante pois a aparência do restaurante é boa e um sítio caro nunca pensaria que tivesse um "bicho" no copo. Mesmo dizendo ao empregado o sucedido ainda se riram e não fizeram nada para o cliente voltar nem um pedido de desculpas que era o mínimo, se calhar não me acharam uma potencial consumidora mas enganam se faço as minhas refeições sempre em restaurantes pois trabalho junto ao mesmo . Não voltarei aquele restaurante podem querer

Très déçu. Accueil très froid. Le serveur nous a très mal parlé lors de l'addition (nous avons eu le malheur de la demander). Les plats sont vraiment très cher pour la qualité. Les cantine lisboete sont bien moins cher, meilleur et avec de super accueil!

Accueil moyen, temps de demande de commande très longue(45min), servis au bout de 40 min et servis froid. C'est cher pour ce que c'est. J'ai demander une entrecôte, il m'ont servis des petit bout de viande coupées avec 60% dos!

My family went to Chu-chu to eat twice, once for lunch and another for dinner. Both times we were greeted with really friendly staff and great food. As Chu-chu is located right across travel accomodation, you'll find lots of tourists coming in for a meal but also a lot of locals coming in either for a meal or to take away some of their super delicious Portuguese style roast chicken. Ask the staff for recommendations if you can't decide on what you want to eat- I can assure you that you won't regret it!

Avoid this place at all costs. They charge over €1 per PIECE of the small pieces of bread and butter/cheese that they put on the table. This is justified by a gibberish phrase resembling English in the menu. We ordered two dishes only to find out after having gotten the drinks that they were unavailable. I was offered chicken inatead, which was served raw. If you enjoy getting gringoed and waking up with salmonella, this place might be the place for you!

The worst resturant i have ever been to. Food was poor and the service was even worse. It is a classic case of a turist trap. Staff threatend with calling the police when we didnt want to pay for food we dig not order.

Há muitos anos que conheço. O ambiente é muito bom. O atendimento também é excelente. Mas....a comida cada vez melhor.
Trabalhava no Hospital e habituei-me ao frango que recomendei a amigos e familiares. Vou para ali muitas vezes e nunca era oportuno comprar frango. Fui anteontem, estava melhor do que nunca e já acertei que irei em todas as semanas.

Excelente restaurante!!! Já o conhece à perto de 9 anos e sou cliente assiduo, quer comendo lá como do take away. Um equipa magnifica, a comida espetacular e o espaço é muito agradavel e confortavel. Vale a pena. O melhor prato a meu ver são as febras de porco preto. Quem experimenta não quer outra coisa. Acreditem, é realmente de comer e chorar por mais...
