This was the worst hotel experience of my life. There was a horrible smell in my room one day so I had to get moved to another property down the street in the middle of the night. When I returned to my room the next morning several of my personal belongings were missing. The staff was unbelievably rude and treated me like an idiot. I was given conflicting information from everyone I spoke with, and the manager refused to compensate me for the stolen items. The key to my room was a joke - less secure than a toy key. This place may look fancy in the photos but the rooms are small and moldy and unsafe. Stay away from this nightmare hotel.

Hotel antiguo, muy buen servicio. No es apto para personas mayores porque no hay ascensor y hay muchas escaleras. El personal amable y excelente desayuno. Muy bien ubicado.

Beautiful building and decor. The room was just the right size for two people. Great views of the courtyard and other buildings nearby. And the breakfast!!!! So many delicious choices!!! Magnificent!!!

Awefuly moldy room, changed room but shower drainage was blocked in new room. WiFi didn't work well even though new room was right next to reception. All in all looks fancy in the photos but is just cheap through and through when you get here.

Sehr stilvoller, alter "Palast". Alles ist sehr schön und authentisch renoviert. Das Personal ist sogar zum Teil verkleidet und spricht sehr zuvorkommende mit einem. Lustig.
Wie waren zum Frühstück da. Den Kaffee bekommt man in breiten Suppenschüsseln serviert. Das ist ulkig, macht aber Kennen Sinn. Ansonsten ist das Buffet sehr umfangreich, von Croissants über gebackenem Brot mit Olivenöl, Kuchen, Milchreis und Obst ist alles da, was das Herz begehrt.

This is a really neat place. Its located atop a hill right downtown, close to a big tourist area with churches and high-end shopping and lots of restaurants. The staff was very welcoming and nice. The breakfast is really nice too. I stayed in the triple room which is pretty much in the basement of the palace, but is adjoined by a cute little courtyard. The only reason I didnt rate the stay as excellent is there is a very strong, very distinct smell to this whole building that isnt exactly unpleasant, but isnt very nice either. I cant exactly place it, but its like a mix of earth, dampness, and old building smell possible attempted to be hidden by a perfumed cleaner that is unlike anything Ive smelled before and is so powerful. So, Im glad to only had one night with that. I did get used to it after sitting in the room, but you can even smell it walking into the lobby. Not sure what it is. Checkin was supposed to be at 2:30 but my room wasnt ready until after 3, which was fine because they stowed my bags for me. Other than that, again, the staff was very nice and accommodating and this is a really cool place to stay. I just needed a room last minute for the night so chose the last available, but I would like to come back and stay in the Royal Suite (and see if the smell exists up there!) Worth checking out.

Die Mitarbeiter/innen an der Rezeption waren sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Zimmer sind allerdings völlig in die Jahre gekommen und zum Teil (hatte das Zimmer gewechselt) von der Lautstärke und Geruch unzumutbar. Die Lage ist allerdings genial.

Cest un ancien manoir avec son charme : haut plafonds, la decorations. Chaque piece unique. Mais a aussi les defaults( simple vitrage - bruit de lexterieur. Murs/plafonds sans isolation accoustique Mais le personel super ainsi que la cuisine et le petit dejeuner tout est fait maison et super fresh! Merci. Si je reviens a Lisabonne sans dout je vais encore choisir Palacio!

Experiência fantástica.. Parecia uma viagem no tempo. Recepção simpática e fluente nas mais variadas línguas, tudo muito limpo. Parece que fomos transportandos para outro século, com um ambiente muito acolhedor. Durante pequeno almoço muita diversidade, e não sei se foi sorte... Mas o senhor a tocar piano durante esta refeição foi maravilhoso. Adorei!

Seeehr nettes, hilfreiches und noch für den Job brennendes Personal.400 Jahre altes, stilvolles Gebäude mit liebevollen historischen Bezügen und Details. Mitten in der Baixa. Klavier zum Frühstück. Aufenthaltsraum mit kostenlosen Kuchen und Trinken vom Frühstück.Mehr etwas für Leute, die diesen besonderen Flair schätzen können, dann aber ein sehr empfehlenswertes Hotel mitten im Leben.(Die Anreise mit dem ÖNV ist schon etwas anstrengender für den unerfahrenen Lissabon-Erstling, da man ggf. eine gewisse Strecke bergauf mit dem Gepäck in der schwer verständlichen Altstadt zurücklegen muss, wenn man nicht die richtige Bahn finden sollte).Vielen Dank an den überaus freundlichen Service.Gerne immer wieder.

Absolut einmaliges Ambiente. Wir fühlten uns wie in einem Schloss. Ausgezeichnetes Frühstück. Ganztags gratis Getränke und Kuchen. Eir hatten zu dritt ein Vierbettzimmer. Es ging recht eng zu. Vor sllem war der ydir hgang in den Raum sehr schmal und dazu waren es schmale Stufen. Im Bad fehlten Ablageflächen und das Waschbrcken hatte einen Sprung. Eir hätten uns zum Duschtuch noch ein Handtuch gewünscht. Nichts desto Trotz würden wir wieder kommen, weil das Hotel einen besonderen Charm hat.

No se puede pedir mas, reservé la única habitación que quedaba en el hotel porque la ocupación para esa fecha era casí completa en todos los alojamientos en Lisboa, En la descripción la catalogaban como sotano que sinceramente no me daba muy buena sensación pero al llegar me encontré una enorme habitación en un precioso patio interior decorada con exquisito gusto al igual que el resto del hotel. Mis agradecimientos al personal del hotel por su atención hacia nosotros. Repetiré sin duda.

Bit like staying in a museum- character, charm and history. Great place to relax and let the imagination unravel - & in a great location for visiting centre of Lisbon, bairro alto ... also close to metro. Excellent breakfast & some welcome touches like juice, fruit & cake available all day. Would recommend the Fado & dinner evening in restaurant - good value 20 euro. Well worth a visit & hope to visit again.

Ambienti molto belli letto comodissimo gentilezza e cordialità del personale ..appena arrivati si viene accolti da Vasco de Gama... assomiglianza incredibile e in abiti del tempo...l.ubicazione e perfetta raggiungibile dal team 28 e metro...ma anche da taxi con 9 euro dall'.aereoporto ti porta all'.albergo....la colazione e continentale...e tutto molto buono...i dolci ..assaggiateli...ma anche tutto il resto...ci ritornerò e lo cinsigliero ai miei amici

What a beautiful palace that I got to call home for a few days. The staff couldn't be more helpful and kind. The rooms are snug with on suite and lots of hot water. We enjoyed a Fava night here and the breakfast are over and beyond... TheresT a lovely bar and restaurant right next door that once more, I can only say excellent.. Do come you won't be disappointed.

Magnifique ! ! Accueil super ! Petit déjeuner dantesque. Repas fado charmant et très abordable. Décors, époustouflants. Ils gardent nos bagages le jour du départ et lorsqu'on vient les récupérer on peut même encore passer un moment dans ces magnifiques salons, boire un peu d'eau, grignoter qq noix etc..
Notre chambre était au RDC, près du futur spa. Elle étai extrêmement calme, sauf qq furies rentrées un peu tard et un peu joyeuses mais vite rappelées à l'ordre par le personnel. C'était assez sombre et humide, mais nous disposions d'une petite terrasse très mignonne et la literie et la salle étaient sans défaut !

Плюсы: атмосфера 17, 18 столетия. Все утро играет на фотрепиано музыкант, шикарный завтрак, чисто тепло, горит камин, второй этаж с большой плазмой и коженными диванами ( идеально для футбольных матчей), сам дом очень старый и владельцы постарались передать атмосферу старены.
Минунсы: плохая шумоизоляция до такой степени, что ты можешь даже почувствовать в какой позе соседи занимаются сексом от вибраций тончайшего гипсокартона который разделяет комнаты. Берите не эконом номер а стандарт может меньше будет слышимасть и видимость.

Este hotel pareceu-me à primeira vista uma espécie de hostel...a recepção era diferente do habitual e o staff muito jovem e informal. Mas estava enganada..Depois do check in ofereceram-nos uma visita guiada pelo hotel e uma parte da história do mesmo. Os quartos conservam o estilo antigo, são pequenos mas conservam o charme e a decoração de outros tempos com o conforto que se exige hoje. Todos têm o nome de especiarias. Tivemos a sorte de ter uma noite de fado durante o jantar e o pequeno almoço, que é maravilhoso,ao som de piano. Hotel frequentado por muitos jovens casais e famílias. Agradeço muito ao staff que nos tratou como se fôssemos família e sempre a disponíveis se precisavamos de algo. Voltarei e já recomendei!

Tolle Atmosphäre in diesem alten Gebäude. Etwas kleines Zimmer, aber alles sauber und schön eingerichtet. Toller Service, sowohl an der Rezeption als auch beim Frühstück (viel Auswahl, sehr lecker). Wir haben am Fado-Abend teilgenommen, der zweimal pro Woche angeboten wird, ist empfehlenswert. Sehr gut gelegen, ganz in der Nähe der U-Bahn-Station Baixa-Chiado. Ein Safe wäre noch gut gewesen. Zimmer relativ hellhörig.

Wer auf den Schimmel im Zimmer einen Aufpreis zahlen möchte, ist hier gerne willkommen
+Das Ambiente von Hotel ist sehr sehr schön, das war auch der Grund der Buchung. Das neue Zimmer war Schimmelfrei und angenehm.Aber das war auch das einzige.
--- Ich weiß das ist sehr viel Text, aber es lohnt sich alles durch zu lesen. Wenn ich dem Hotel (-) Sterne geben könnte, würde ich das tun. Mein Zimmer war voller Schimmel und Feuchtigkeit. Die Klimaanlage und ein mini Entfeuchter lief, wie ich das Zimmer betrat. Es muffelte aus jeder Ecke. Auf genaues Hinschauen. SCHIMMEL. Die Aussage vom Hotelpersonal, "... es ist im Untergeschoss, das ist normal". Nein!! es ist nicht normal. Mein Keller zu Hause hat kein Schimmel. (Siehe Fotos, mehr wollte ich nicht downloaden) Schimmel ist sehr Gesundheitsgefährdend aber davon haben die Leute keine Ahnung. Wenn ich die Sprache könnte, würde ich das Gesundheitsamt rufen, aber die stecken alle unter einer Decke. Auf das Ansprechen für ein Zimmer tauschen, mussten wir noch einen Aufpreis zahlen. Was sollten wir machen, irgendwo anders ging es nicht und mit Schimmel neben dem Bett, will keiner schlafen. Als ich Fotos von der Situation machte, wurde ich aus dem Zimmer raus gebeten (Beweise). Klar so kann man auch sein Geld machen. Das war die Entschuldigung. Frechheit. Empfehlenswert == 0,0% Das Frühstück, oh mein Gott. Kaffee ungenießbar, Brötchen aufgebacken, Marmelade und Honig musste wir auf den Teller klatschen, Ei aus der Tüte. Für das Hotel hatte ich anderes erwartet und ich bin schlimmeres gewohnt durch meine Reisen durch die Welt. Das Hotel wurde nie restauriert, die Fenster vom neuen Zimmer (allerdings mit Aufpreis weil das Alte Schimmel besaß) waren undicht. Das war aber nicht so schlimm, zumindest besser als der Schimmel neben und hinter dem Bett. Keine Ahnung woher die guten Bewertungen kommen. Ich war auch sehr sehr enttäuscht, vor allem wegen des Verhaltens. Ich habe noch nie ein Hotel so schlecht bewertet aber hier reden wir nicht von Essen zu kalt oder zu warm, hier reden wir von Schimmel und Feuchtigkeit, hier reden wir von Gesundheit, und die Antwort "... Sie müssen einen Aufpreis zahlen, damit wir Ihnen das Zimmer tauschen." Nein, Nein, Nein.
Keine Ahnung woher die Leute das Gute schreiben. War ich im falschen Hotel? Waren die noch nie in einem anderen Hotel?

Increíble lugar, increíble recibimiento. En pleno centro de Lisboa en el barrio del Chiado este palacio nos dio la bienvenida de una forma espectacular . Nos recibió vasco de gama y nos enseñó las estancias comunes del hotel y nos contó la historia del palacio y luego nos agasajo con un chupito de ginja (no se si está bien escrito). Los desayunos son abundantes y el café excelente Y amenos ya que quien quiera puede tocar un hermoso piano que está en una sala. Si vais os recomiendo reservar cena y fado en el mismo hotel por 20 euros puedes disfrutar de fado en dirrcto, varios entrantes, vino ilimitado y primero, segundo, postre y café . Sin lugar a dudas volveré

Eine undichte Abwasserleitung im Zimmer wurde trotz mehrfacher Hinweise an das Hotelmanagement nicht repariert. Sogar auf den Holzdielen stand das Wasser!!! Zusagen zu einer geringen Entschädigungszahlung wurden nicht eingehalten. Unangenehme Geruchsbelästigung ist nicht hinnehmbar, nie wieder buchen wir diese sonst sehr interessante Stadtvilla.

Hotel é muito particular e possui um excelentes serviços de atendimento ao cliente, assim como encontrar-se numa zona estrategica bem no centro de Lisboa. Uma otima localizacão. O café da amanha e servido em diferentes ambientes, com uma variedade de alimentos com muita personalidade.O serviço de recepção é muito bom, eles fazem um tour no hotel e contam a historia do casarão e seus proprietários, vindo a se transforma neste charmoso e gracioso hotel.

Magnifique lieu.petit déjeuner buffet international parfait. Dîner fado extra et pas du tout cher.Notre chambre étai au calme, au rez-de-chaussée donnant sur un petit patio commun aux 3 autres chambres. Très mignon. La chambre elle-même était petite et très humide, pcq en RDC , limite ss-sol.

This is a wonderful house, decorated with style and attention. Stayed in one of the smaller economic rooms, which was fine in terms of space and light (although window is high so not easy to open), bedding was very comfortable and bathroom in excellent condition. Staff members from the reception to breakfast room are most helpful and welcoming. It can be an amazing home away from home. Thank you,

Esta Guesthouse fica situada no Chiado, na Baixa lisboeta, o que facilita a visita aos monumentos e espaços mais emblemáticos da Cidade. Amei a estadia! Prima pela peculiaridade do palacete, do décor e o excelente pequeno-almoço. Não é todos os dias que se acorda e se toma um pequeno-almoço com música ao vivo...piano, saxophone etc. Recomendo a experiência!

En plus j' ai oublié mon portable dans la chambre et a ce jour je suis toujours en train de me battre pour le récupérer
J ai même été obligé de porter plainte car personne ne me répond
J attends la suite des poursuites par les autorités portugaises
En plus au petit déjeuner on essaie de vous coller un guide personnel dans les pâtes qui vient squatter votre table alors que vous n avez rien demandé

De l’accueil à la chambre, tout a été parfait. Le personnel est au petit soin, le bâtiment est magnifique et il y a plein de petites pièces à découvrir. Le confort de la chambre était parfait (Chambre 4 diamond) avec une literie au top.Le seul regret est de nêtre rester quune nuit.

Estamos alojados en el hotel, aparte de coger la habitación pequeña, la única que quedaba, para dos personas, la cama y la habitación es ENANA además esta puesta contra la pared.
No hay persiana solo una pequeña tela donde entra toda la luz y nos ha sido imposible dormir, ruidos por todas las partes y por la noche entra la luz por tods los huecos que tiene la puerta. No es un Hotel es mas bien una pensión pero muy muy cutre, las fotos engañan. Lo unico bonito los salones comunes.

A hotel unlike anything else you will ever stay at. You have to experience this for yourself. Every corner in this hotel will surprise you. Good breakfast and very helpful and friendly staff. Every morning you have beautiful live piano music with your breakfast. Every other friday there's you can reserve dinner with live fado singers and on sunday evening there's a cute little jazzband playing in the lobby. Located near the stop of tram 28 and other nice tourist spots. But please keep it a secret before its inundated with hipsters and instagram bloggers.

Si on pouvait mettre 0, ça serait un 0. Personnel désagréable, chambre désastreuse, les photos du site sont loin de reflétées la réalité.
Malgré un décor «impressionnant » à notre arrivée, notre engouement a cessé au moment où la porte de notre chambre s’est ouverte. Une nuit à 140 euros pour finir dans une chambre que je n’aurais même pas réservé gratuitement. Et il ne faut surtout pas compter sur le personnel pour assainir tout ce mécontentement.

Hotel is situated near the heart of Lisbon, which is a huge plus. Close to everything, plus Metro is within walking distance. Hotel staff is AMAZING! Igor especially. Thank you for all your help:). As far as the room... we rented this hotel based on the pics, well.. dont be fooled by it. Our room was in the attic, and looked nothing like the one from pics. The bathroom was very very tiny, there was no balcony or city view (as described on Orbitz). Yes, we did have the view of all nearby roofs. :) from one small window. We did not complained about the room due to super friendly and amazing staff. We spent 2 nights there, but unfortunately will not be back nor recommend this place to others. It was not worth the $ paid.

This Palacio is just awesome! The home-made breakfast is a dream and the building itself is stunning. Being an antique construction there might be different parts not up to modern standard (e.g. the water pressure and temperature especially in the upper rooms vary a lot, in case of fire, there's not necessarily a second escape route) but the service is outstanding and the atmosphere really comforting. Within walking distance of the city centre and connected by several lines of public transport, it's a perfect match for your city break!

Staff was super helpful and friendly, I changed or extended my reservation twice and they were very patient and helped me find a great rate when I stayed another extra night. Breakfast is a little crowded because people come from multiple locations, but otherwise good and they have surprisingly excellent coffee.

Hotel muy bien decorado, la atención en todo momento fue excelente, nos tocó la casualidad de que ofrecieran una cena con fado en el propio hotel a un precio menor que la mayoría de restaurantes con Fado y la comida estaba deliciosa.
El único tema fue que no tiene muchas escaleras a los cuartos sin elevador, fuera de eso es un excelente lugar.

The photos of this property are much more grand than the hotel itself. The breakfast room was overloaded - do not plan on eating there. The room was run down and very cramped. The staff were rude and inattentive. Location was the only positive attribute - highly recommend looking elsewhere for this price.

Charming place if you want something a bit different. We ended up booking a room that is in basement level opening to a small courtyard, with no windows and limited light. Coming from uk , that is least I wanted to have. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us in another rooms, so ended up in 4 rooms over 5 nights. Is it a perfect hotel? Perhaps not at every level, but what they provide definitely is. From arrival, to leave they are very helpful. Gym is amazingly equipped (need to book in advance). Breakfast is good, lots of cake, even served in kitchen where it's made, giving a wonderful homely feel to it. Leftover cakes thrn served all day to eat. Lots of lovely common rooms to spend time in, even real fire. The building is an adventure to discover. Beds are comfy, each room has its charms and quirkiness. Small doors, old light switches, even a very old common bathroom just off dining area with and old flush knob. Location is perfect. This place just feels nice and special which definitely worth 5 stars. Everything else just adds to the charm.

My jaw dropped when I walked into this palace. They have great costumer service. All the clerk's are dressed to impress and are very professional. We had a lovely room facing the ocean. It's an impressive building which is over 400 years old. You feel like the rich and famous while dining inside until you enter your room. I gave 4 stars for these reasons. First off the walls are super thin so you often can hear water pipes and people singing in the shower next to your flat. Second the interior window shutter lock is broken so you feel a bit locked up. Third the stair well is quite dangerous. Super narrow and made from low quality wood. The tiles and shower are really run down. There isn't a phone in the room so that's a bit of a pain if you need to get in touch with reception. Also note to anyone leaving anything on the balcony is to bring it inside. They don't have dry cleaning facilities on site and the guy at the front desk gave me a bit of a rude remark after I told him about my problem. He was able to suggest a place in the end. The free breakfast was decent. Some things were top notch others were rubbish. The coffee and milk were awful. They like to give cake for breakfast which is a bit weird. Suppose you got a sweet tooth this place is up your alley.

I am giving this place a 5 star because it is unique. I would remove a star as some of the (bath)rooms need a bit refurbishing or say there is no safe in the room. But ... they are easily gaining the star back for the overall ambiance, the excellent breakfast, the music at breakfast, the sweets, the location, in short for just being a different hotel than all the rest.

Abbiamo soggiornato dal 29/12 al 3/1. L’Hotel è in una posizione eccellente, in centro, a pochi metri dalle piazza Luis de Camoes, dalla metropolitana Chiado-Baixa, dalla fermata del tram 28 e dalle principali attrazioni di Lisbona.
L’Hotel è un palazzo del 1800, nobiliare e di rara bellezza, pulitissimo, la colazione eccellente, in sottofondo pianoforte suonato dal vivo, molto piacevole. Abbiamo anche cenato gustando il tipico baccalà portoghese e musica fado dal vivo. Di gusto anche la zona spa con piscina, sala attrezzi, massaggi e bagno turco. Il proprietario è una ragazzo delizioso, molto disponibile che ti aiuta qualora ci siano delle difficoltà. E’ un appassionato di macchine d’epoca e possiede una Ford del 1931 con la quale abbiamo fatto il tour della città. Lo consiglio perché è divertentissimo: guidatore e cicerone è Tommaso, un ragazzo “attore” e intrattenitore dell’hotel che conosce 5 lingue, compreso l’italiano, ed è molto professionale e simpatico. Che dire … hotel consigliatissimo e da tornare!

I booked this hotel on October 27 2019 and fully paid for it way in advance for December 29 check in.Two days before check in date while I was travelling in Spain they texted me that their computer error did not have my reservation therefore no room for me. They offered me a lower price apartment which I had no way to check the condition of the place.But, if they had no information on the reservation ,how they know where to get in touch with me? Hate to think they just took my room for someone else I had spend hours to panic search for another place to stay. I did not receive any apologies or compensation from anyone.This is BOTH Hotel.com and the property at fault.Been deal with Hotel .com for many years and this was the first.May be in there future I should just call the hotels directly to book in stead of Hotel.com. Well, somebody sure lost my confidence on their business.

Your stuff is not safe here ! Watch out! We lost our best antique gifts which we brought from Morocco. They pay no attention to your complains. And please check google reviews throughly before you book - Rooms are inconvenient - CHEAP Toiletries
Do Not Book this museum piece- unless you want to throw your money and a pleasant experience. The worst experience in our travel history, especially, the kind of money, we paid. Our antique gift Moroccan cups were stolen and there are no basic amenities such as functional soap dispensers or even soap or even drinking water. The staff is rude and unprofessional. They have no concept of customer service or etiquette. We tried to speak to the manager twice but he hides when there are legit complains and tells his staff he is not there.
We requested a water jar cover and the staff replied,
we will see if we have it. You ask for water and they say - sorry kitchen closed no water. They claim they are a castle but the service is not even close to a motel. Cheap standards and pathetic mannerisms.

Buen para hospedarse un par de días. Céntrico y limpio. Es un antiguo palacio con un gran encanto. Mas parecido a una casa de huéspedes que a un hotel. No dispone de servicio de comidas, solo desayuno. Como negativo decir que el desayuno es todos los días el mismo, de modo que si pasas más de tres días es un poco repetitivo. Dadas las características del Palacio, no es un lugar accesible para personas con movilidad reducida (sillas de ruedas, carritos de bebe, etc.).

The stay was oke, but the communication is very bad. I forgot something and my friend is still in Lissabon so she can pick it up for me. But I've been trying to contact them several times in 4 different ways and they just never reply.. Very bad service when it's impossible to get your belongings back.

The palace was beautiful and the staff enthusiastic, helpful and professional! We had a twin room at the top! You could access food during the day which was made available in one of the dining rooms! The property is palatial and well decorated and comfortable. There were many rooms in which you could sit and contemplate, beautiful music played often including live piano music during breakfast. Very friendly, multilingual experience! Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful stay in Lisbon and absolutely loved our hotel, it was very charming. They offered a dinner with Fado and it was lovely. I will warn that if you have a lot of luggage the stairs are pretty steep and there are many of them. It wasn’t a problem for us, but others might not like it. We would definitely stay here again!

Good location, beautiful old palace, great breakfast but paper thin walls. Young adults were hanging out at the corner right below our window, singing, partying-you could clearly hear conversations. Water in the shower was cold at prime shower time. I knew this was an older building and we did enjoy it despite those things.

The hotel is very beautiful from top to bottom but the the dinner and Fado evening is a disgrace.
For 25 euros you get a small bowl of soup which taste like water and salt. The main course was a dreadful mixture of rice and dried fish. My cat would have enjoyed it but not me... as for desert it was rice cooked in milk served in a saucer from an espresso cup. The wine was Ok.
The Fado was mediocre.
You can find many many better places for Fado and especially for dinner.
Stay away from that rip off...

Beautiful hotel. Most hotels nowadays say nothing, once you step in you could anywhere in the world, inside one of the thousands of bland, anonymous hotels with a clean, modern, standardised decoration. This one screams old Lisbon, chaotic, creative, random decoration rather than a carefully studied theme dictated by an interior designer and purchased in a one stop shop. Be ready to climb steps, go through narrow corridors, experience the usual services of a hotel in a very different way. Delightfully shocking I’d say.We loved it. And the location is great.

We loved our stay at Palacio das Especiarias. The hotel was very unique and made you feel like you were staying in a palace (cause you pretty much are). The staff was very welcoming and gave us a little history tour when we checked in. The breakfast in the morning was great and the hotel is in a good location. Camera nel patio, ovvero sottosuolo, da zero stelle, forte odore di muffa, tanta umidità, dovevamo tenere il deumidificatore acceso continuamente. Inoltre la camera era estremamente piccola, da dover scavalcare le valigie per girare intorno al letto. Bagno anche questo molto piccolo, letto comodo. Pulizia così così.
Palazzo signorile, ben tenuto, curato nei dettagli. Colazione buona, in sottofondo pianoforte suonato dal vivo, molto piacevole, altrettanto caratteristica è una delle sale utilizzate per il buffet ovvero la vecchia cucina dove tutt'oggi il personale prepara la colazione. The staff here are incredible. So warm, welcoming - they really make your stay great.
Lost a star because of cleaners and gym. Didn't seem to do a great job of cleaning. We stayed over a week and they didn't give an extra toilet roll, had to go and take some from the communal one.
The gym here is amazing. Easily the best I've seen in a hotel. The facilities are excellent, you can really train here with multiple machines, two racks and a plethora of equipment. The difficulty is with booking it's use.
There isn't a very good system of booking.
The hotel have to phone the trainers who might not be available at the time to let the hotel know if they are using the space or not. (The gym is so good personal trainers use it for their clients) A simple sheet of paper would solve this problem if a spreadsheet is too technical!
All in all I'd really recommend a stay here. Perfect location, really quaint historic building, delicious breakfast and incredible staff.

We loved staying one night in this converted palace. The room was quirky yet elegant. We had a wonderful view of the river. The staff were friendly, warm and welcoming. Even though we had to leave early before they serve breakfast, they especially made some sandwiches and had some sweets prepared for us to eat that morning. So thoughtful! The hotel is close to the old city.

Das Hotel hat einen besonderen Stil. Ist nicht so wie die typischen Standard Hotels dieser Klasse. Das macht es einzigartig in Portugal Flair zu erleben.Das Personal war super freundlich und hat gleich am Anfang alle Räumlichkeiten erklärt. Immer war jemand für Fragen bereit.Das Frühstück war super lecker. Es gab alles. Frisches Obst, verschiedene Säfte, Milch Shake, immer etwas anderes. Genial ist auch, dass es rund um die Uhr Wasser und Säfte gibt sowie Kuchen. Auch der warmen Pool, den man gratis nutzen darf. Ist genial nach einem anstrengenden Start Tag. Achtung: man sollte reservieren, denn dieser Bereich wird normalerweise nur von derjenigen Person genutzt, die reserviert. Es gibt auch eine Mini Sauna für zwei Personen. Diese haben wir nicht genutzt. Ebenfalls besteht die Möglichkeit für Massagen. Das haben wir auch nicht gemacht. Die Lage ist super zentral nur ein paar Minuten von der Metro Station Bauxa-Chiado entfernt. Auch die S-Bahn Linie 28E liegt gleich um die Ecke am Platz Luis Cameos.Zwischen 23 und 1:00 Uhr ist es ein kleines bisschen lauter. Aber das muss man Inkaufnehmen für ein zentral gelegenes Stadthotel. Nachts ist es dann sehr ruhig. Das Hotel ist eine absolute Empfehlung und fast sogar ein Geheimtipp. Ich war überrascht, wie viele Gäste dort waren, die man eigentlich nur beim Frühstück sieht.

Fin juillet, nous avons déposés nos valises dans ce somptueux hôtel : la décoration est magnifique, nous avons l'impression d'être dans un château, le buffet du petit-déjeuner est varié et de bonne qualité, il y en a pour tous les goûts. Tout le personnel est très agréable et souriant : nous remercions particulièrement ANTONIO qui a était très prévenant, patient, toujours souriant et au petit soin avec nous lorsque ma mère a fait une crise d'asthme inattendu et que nous devions trouver une solution, bravo pour votre professionnalisme, votre gentillesse et votre sens de l'accueil !!! This is a spectacular property in a good location, with two caveats. 1 - There is no lift, and they keep that fact quiet, so if you're on an upper floor it's a chore. 2 - they have the bellman give you a tour on the way to your room, including a rather hard sell of their spa, restaurant and Fado show. Pretty annoying.

The room did not look at all like the one we got .. we had low beam and I got my head twice needed ice the staff was informed but the response was this is the room u paid for .. the description did not mention sewage smells or that it had low beams . We paid for a triple room and were disappointed it was like a musty old dorm room in a farm house nothing palace like . Buyer beware . The staff is not interested in helping . I wrote yo the Mgr of the property this morning no response .

Bonito palacio reconvertido en hotel, muy céntrico y con muy buena ubicación. La atención es muy buena, tanto en recepción como en el desayuno y en todo el hotel. Cuenta con un spa y sauna gratis incluido en el precio y con servicios a parte de masajes. El desayuno muy variado todo tipo de frutas, huevo, verduras, pan, cereales, quesos,.... Y el pianista tocando durante todo el desayuno. Muy recomendable por precio, ubicación, y servicio.

Very helpful and kind staff, clean and comfortable atmosphere. We were here with my wife at our 10th marriage anniversary and I can say everything was great. The breakfast was also great with a pinch of piano music. Absolutely recommended!

Très belles parties communes.Très bon emplacement. En revanche, nous avions un studio familial et avons été déçus. Les photos Expedia ne correspondaient pas totalement, salle de bain dans un placard, blatte se baladant, plafond très bas, voisins bruyants. Pour ce prix, nous nous attendions à bien mieux !

Fue bastante menos a lo esperado.
En cuanto al edificio es antiguo, muy bien decorado, con encanto. Su ubicación es muy buena.
El desayuno muy bueno, con música en vivo (piano) lo que es muy agradable para empezar el día.
Lo malo fue con respecto a las habitaciones. Reservamos 3.
La habitación Cuádruple Patio siempre tenía olor a humedad, las camas cómodas, el baño, aunque de buen tamaño, se tapaba la tina.
Lo peor fue el Estudio Familiar, muchas escaleras para acceder a ella y muy empinadas, además el baño era demasiado pequeño. Logramos que nos cambiaran de habitación, pero a otro hotel de los mismos dueños.
En la recepción, la atención fue agradable, pero el día que teníamos un tour, el guía pidió que nos avisaran que había llegado y no lo hicieron.
En resumen, lamentablemente no fue una buena experiencia.

I live period places that are in character and mood of the region. We were greated by "vasco de gama" our room felt like we were in a period castle, high ceiling, chandelier, painting and thick crown mouldings. Best of all we enjoyed the clean space and attentive service.

Das Bett war einfach toll! Ich habe wie ein Prinz darin geschlafen. Viele hausgemachte Kuchen zum Frühstück und viele persönliche Details! z.B. eine Begrüßungskarte mit dem Namen auf dem Bett. Das hatte ich noch nie. Es war eine außergewöhnliche Erfahrung hier zu übernachten. Man sollte aber wissen, dass es kein Luxushotel ist und man in einem historischen Gebäude schläft, wo viel improvisiert wurde.
Das Gebäude ist 400 Jahre alt und es riecht sehr modrig im Bad und der Geruch zieht sich durch das ganze Zimmer. Das war sehr unangenehm.

Man muß es mögen, die steilen Treppen, die undichten Türen, die Geräusche der anderen Gäste. Aber dafür bekommt man super nettes Personal (danke für den vielen Kaffee), eine gemütliche Atmospäre wenn man abends in der Bibliothek sitzt und nebenan das Feuer im Kamin knackt, morgens beim Frühstück live am Klavier gespielt wird oder auf dem Grammophon alte Swing oder Charleston Stücke laufen. Jederzeit wieder.

Superbe hôtel dans une ancienne maison bourgeoise décorée avec goût, en centre ville ; le personnel est disponible et agréable, par exemple pendant le petit déjeuner une personne fait le tour des tables nous donnant des conseils sur le séjour pendant qun pianiste joue.Le seul bémol est le bruit, cette ancienne maison est très mal isolé aussi bien intérieur quextérieur...

Mon vol Joon a été annulé pour cause de grève Jeudi, au dernier moment et je n'ai pas pu séjourner dans cet hotel. J'ai appelé plusieurs fois et pourtant alors que l'on m'avait dit qu'il fallait attendre j'ai attendu trop longtemps et ils ont refusé de me rembourser au moins 3 nuits sur 4. Je suis très déçue. Je vais souvent au Portugal et je n'avais lu que des commentaires positifs sur cet hôtel et bien je pense que les choses changent et pas pour le mieux.
Surtout qu'ils auraient pu mettre la chambre en vente dès le jour où je leur ai expliqué que je ne pouvais plus venir et m'être expliqué et excusée je ne sais combien de fois. Apparemment je ne suis pas la seule à avoir subi un tel préjudice... Alors je me demande quelle est la démarche à suivre quand on apprend le jour J que votre avion ne pourra vous emmener à votre destination, que vous n'avez pas de voiture et que les économies de deux mois ont été dépensées dans le logement, que vos seules vacances annuelles sont gâchées et qu'en plus vous devrez payer pour un séjour non effectué?
Je ne manquerai pas de parler de cette mésaventure avec tous mes abonnés instagram et snapchat.

Worst service ever. They lied to me regarding my booking possibilities and refused to give me a rightful refund. Avoid at all cost, especially if you have any problem with your flight.
Due to a social movement on AirFrance I could not come to this hotel. I tried to warn the hotel as soon as possible and they told me to wait and that there was no trouble, if I could not make it they would do something. Then, they said that they could not do anything that it was booking which was in charge. When I called booking they told me that it was the hotel who refused to give me the refund. I sent messages to the manager asking for help and to offer me at least a refund for half of the total amount, but they never answered me and took my money.
It would have been my first time in Portugal and I will not come back any time soon. And for sure not in that "hotel". Shame!

An und für sich ein sehr schönes Hotel, altertümlicher Stiel und sehr witzige Betreiber. Die Zimmer sind zwar originel, aber auch schön. Das Frühstück wird mit einer Live-Klavirmusik begleitet. Auch die Auswahl an Speißen ist groß genug. Einzige Nachteile: Es gub nur einen Schlüssel und man könnte meiner Meinung nach zumindest auf der Webseite anmerken, dass das Hotel eher für Päärchen ist, da zB. Die Badewanne und Dusche mitten im Raum ohne oder nur mit schlechtem Sichtschutz stehen.

Instalacao precaria. Prédio tombado. Tivemos problemas no hotel com a localizacao do quarto. Devido a isto tivemos q sair do hotel. Pagamos caro outro hotel por ser d ultima hora e o Palacio das Especiarias nao devolveu nossas diarias disponibilizando-as a outros clientes. Achei péssimo a maneira com que conduziram a situacao. Procure outro hotel, este é para mochileiros.

When we arrived we were welcomed by the staff wearing costumes, they were so nice, made us feel like we were at home, they took us to our room where we had cakes and fruits in a marvellous room spotless cleaned, we had a walking tour with Marques de Pombal who was very pleasant just after the breakfast. The hotel reception staff is very nice. The hotel itself is beautiful. Everything is clean and the food is excellent. All their pastries are home made in the hotel.
But. Don't go here if you like to sleep. Not only is the kitchen in among the rooms, the kitchen personnel is loud all night long. We asked them to be quiet, but that had no effect. Expect to hear them laughing, chatting and clanging plates together at 2:30AM. Trash is collected at night right in front of the hotel (4:00AM).

Lo mejor los espacios comunes y el desayuno. Nuestra habitación para 4 personas tenia carencias como el baño lejos, y ventanas hacia la calle muy ruidosas. Con baja privacidad ya q la puerta da al salón común del palacio

Muy buena ubicación y alojamiento pintoresco. A tener en cuenta que resulta bastante ruidoso de noche y en nuestra habitación la TV era pequeña y funcionaba regular. Baño privado sin agua caliente en lavabo, la ducha buena y sin problema para el agua caliente. La cocina y el trato del personal excelente.

Wir hatten das Familienzimmer im obersten Stock. Einfach unglaublich, was uns da erwartet hat. Damit hätten wir nie gerechnet. Die Kids waren total begeistert. Das Frühstück konnte sich sehen lassen. Frisches Obst und sehr gute Brötchen das ist nur ein Teil des Frühstücks. Alle sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Sehr gute Lage - Tram- und Metro Station gleich um die Ecke. Wir würden wieder dahin gehen...

Location is perfect. This is a beautiful old building. Stuff is helpful. Breakfast ok. The bad thing is that it has old style wooden window with very poor sound isolation in a neighborhood that is quite noisy. If you have problems with many stairs avoid it cost there is no elevator.

Siamo stati in questo splendido Hotel nel centro di Lisbona fine marzo primi di aprile 2017. Ci siamo trovati benissimo. il Personale gentile il servizio ottimo. Le stanze molto particolari ed arredate con mobili antichi molto ben tenute. Insomma lo consiglio vivamente Dorigoni Maria e fam.
