Their surfboard rental service is terrible. Nowhere to change clothes and they charged me for a small crack on their board that was already there when i got it. I've already rented surfboards in Portugal plenty of times and i had never seen this. They said they have had the board checked before my rental but I did not see the evaluation nor did I sign anything saying that i confirmed such evaluation. There are plenty of other better surfboard rental services around.

The place is amazing! Very clean rooms and bathrooms. The service is great! The whole team is super nice and very supportive. It doesn't matter what you need the guys will help you with everything. The activities in the evening with the whole gang were very fun and brought all the people even closer together. The surf lessons were absolutely great! I learned and improved a lot! The best instructors ever!!! Already booked my flights and looking forward to season opening in April!

My kids were surfing in the water by the time there were a group of beginners with Alex surf school. Those teachers aren't really nice at all. Because they taught my kids off not to surf were they are and push away and not in a nice way. The water is for everyone. You should review your teachers because I will make bad review for your surf school. And I won't let it go

Le matos se situe entre le restau Algamar et Danau, vous pouvez réserver directement la bas les cours ou la location. Prix vraiment correct (20€ la loc à la journée , 35€ le cours de deux heures) par rapport aux autres écoles, avec tout de même des cours de qualités (avec une mention spéciale pour Claudio et Dave!) et un super accueil, malgré une forte affluence en août. Des moniteurs à l’écoute avec pas plus de 4-5 personnes par cours. Et après le cours vous pouvez déguster un bon petit burger à 5€ au Danau bar face à la mer.... Bref je recommande

Had a fantastic time with Alex Surf School! Baleal was a great place to learn to surf and the instructors were very detail oriented, bringing our surfing skills up to the next level. Would highly recommend a surf camp with Alex Surf School (staying at their hostel is a great option too)!

If you are looking to learn surfing + a nice accommodation in Baleal/Peniche, this is the place to be ! Really nice surf hostel, really nice people, human size surf lessons groups (I had 1 teacher just for myself during 2 days, imagine the improvements !). The place is crazy for surfing (for beginners and advanced) and you feel like spending a week with family ah Alex surf school. They event did the extra mile with us and took us out for dinner in local places 3 days during the week. Highly recommended ! We will see you soon again for sure guys keep rockin’ !

Stayed a week here as it was a great location to be based out of to surf Baleal & Peniche. The room was fantastic and the common areas were well-equipped and laid out, and also cleaned very regularly. The other lodgers were super nice and easy to get on with. Alex & Paloma themselves were great hosts and made us feel right at home. We did not take surf lessons, but happened to share one of our sessions with Alex's class of mixed abilities, and as an observer I think his teaching style puts his students at ease and does seem to allow them to do their best. I would consider taking a couple of lessons with him and his staff when I return!

Todo bastante bien hasta que me cobro una quilla que rompió a una tabla que use 2 horas y no salí del agua , mientes cuando dices que estaba en perfecto estado , sino no rompería sin darle ningún golpe. las cosas se van desgastando con el tiempo hasta que rompen y no puedes responsabilizar a un cliente de la rotura por desgaste de un material de alquiler , hasta dudo si la tenia cuando me la dieron ya que no me fijé.

Alex and the team were all lovely, I learnt so much in my 3 lessons with the school. Only downside was limited boards so I used a slightly smaller foam board.

If you are reading this, you are lucky to find out what Alex and his staffs have been doing in Peniche-Baleal area (they speak Portuguese, English, and Russian...possibly more). During my two week stay, I asked various clients how they ended up at Alex Surf School. Just as I came to learn of its existence through my surfer friend who visited Baleal years ago, people seemed to end up at Alex's gig mostly through word-of-mouth. Alex offers a personalized approach with each of his clients -- paying attention to every little bad habit in my surfing skill (or lack thereof) and giving me feedback constantly -- even when a group consisted of wide range of experience. He often drove us around to check the conditions together, and when it was not ideal at any spot, then we were asked to opt for canceling our surf lesson (no charge) and he called it a rest day. He understood my comfort level (heavy and fast OH surf, não obrigado) and never compromised our safety. I was able to paddle for some waves that I normally wouldn't go for, but that's only because I was in the water with Alex and was able to trust his commands. If you are a newbie who wants to try surfing, Alex and all staffs are personable to hang out with in and out of water and will be truly happy to see you feel the stoke. If you are an experienced surfer who wants to get an in-depth knowledge of local breaks, paddle out with Alex and watch how gracefully, playfully, and powerfully he dances on the water. Out of the water, I was well taken care of as well. I stayed at "Alex Surf Hostel" which is a new accommodation that Alex and Vanessa (a cute pharmacist) put together recently. In my opinion, this "hostel" is more like a 2-bedroom & 1.5-bathroom "vacation house" that is vibrantly decorated and furnished for comfort. The kitchen is big and fully equipped (there is even a BBQ brick grill outside!) so that my vacation housemates and I were able to throw a nice BBQ gathering at the house and host 10 people + 1 black labrador (Becky). Cooking at the house was economical, but I wanted to try Portuguese cuisine. As a solo traveler, it's somewhat awkward to dine alone at a restaurant in Europe, so I appreciated dinner outings that Alex organized for fellow surfers. Alex is a magnet of attracting nice, honest, adventurous, and open-minded people; a true international crowd of staffs, friends, and clients. My housemates were well-travelled surfers in their 30s and 40s from other European countries. Also, people that I met through Alex's surf lesson were working professionals in their 30s and were very pleasant and respectful to paddle out with.

Alex and his teachers gave us a very good introduction to surf. They were able to teach us the basic (technique and attitude) and after 4 days. we really enjoyed every lessons and we were able to stand on our board. They know really well the area and they would make sure, we would be on the right spot for the conditions of the day. Alex got a good spirit. I warmly recommend his school if you are a beginner or a more advanced surfer and want to improve.
