Came here for lunch and got total rudeness from the restaurant's owner
... Deplorable welcoming and service. Before placing us, first comment was about the fact that I had not the right to carry a small bottle of water in my hand in the restaurant... Like if was going to drink my bottle of water in a restaurant... Then questions about meals appeared to be embarrassing the owner who showed lack of respect to us and left us. The fact that we did not order a starter and then a bottle of water made him aggressive, so we left. No idea about the food quality but last comment of the owner was : "I'm here to make money"... Tells pretty much everything...

Never in my life - I am 52 and have travelled around the world - I have been treated with such rudness and lack of respect from the French owner. He even managed to critizise me in my own country for being Portuguese!! Cannot get any worse than that!
First: he seemed to be drunk.
Second: my wife and I ordered one entrance for €9 and a main course for €18 - we wanted to share both - and then we were asking advice to order a €18 to €22 bottle of wine - so in total a €45+ meal. The owner freaked out and said that the cooker would immediately guess that we were portuguese for sharing courses - “only portuguese and brazilian share courses” - , that he would have to wash 4 plates for two courses and incredible things like that. We left.
No idea about the quality of the food.
But the owner does not have the skills to run a restaurant!

Trouvé au hasard d'une ballade, un joli restaurant. Un bon rapport qualité prix. Des produits frais. Le service est assuré par le patron. Sympathie, détente assurée. La chef en cuisine, sa femme. Un beau duo.

I was lucky enough to have my hotel a 5 minute walk from this absolute gem of a restaurant. We were drawn in by the reviews of the delightful husband-wife duo, Stephane and Guida, that ran the restaurant and were not disappointed! The restaurant is small, less than 30 seats, and is run by the husband who does his job with a great sense of humor and showmanship. He got to know us all individually, and took that time with every table.
We got the cheese plate, which was one of the best cheese plates I've had. The selections were all different enough that each cheese felt like a new experience, and there were endless combinations for how to enjoy them! Not to mention the handmade jam made by the chef Guida. It was pumpkin based and surprisingly amazing! When we inquired if it was for sale Guida came out of the back to thank us for our compliments, and even gave us a small jar of jam for free. For dinner I ate the chicken legs, and let me tell you, it was the BEST chicken I have ever eaten in my life.
This was the first restaurant we ate it in Lisbon, and I struggled to talk myself out of going every other night of the trip. I know that some people have given this restaurant poor reviews for service, but I decided to ignore them, because to be honest those people sort of sounded a bit entitled, and I think I was right. I had an amazing experience at Latitude 38. It felt like coming over to a friend's house for dinner, and I think if you are looking for a similar experience, one with mutual respect for one another, you will have a dinner to remember for the rest of your lives! I know I'll be coming back if I'm in Lisbon again :)

Еда пересоленная,невкусная. А цена совершенно не соответствует качеству. Очень неприятный инцидент произошёл,когда пришло время расплачиваться: Официант сказал,что видите ли Карты международные не принимает,только Португалия. О таких вещах предупреждать следует заранее! На наше заявление о том,что нет нала,предложил снять деньги за углом,а услышав о дороговизне снятия денег,пожал плечами. Если есть возможность,лучше сходить в более престижный ресторан- цены будут такие же,а еда гораздо вкуснее.

Ужинали семьей в данном заведении. Заказывали сардины (на деле оказались консервированными), филе миньон (не имеет ничего общего с филе миньоном,тушенное мясо под грибным соусом) рыба очень посредственная с большим количеством приправы, конспирирующим настоящий вкус блюда... В добавок ко всему возникли проблемы при оплате счета! Только наличные или Португальские карты, о чем должны, по моему мнению предупреждать гостей при встрече!!!

Restaurant très agréable. L'accueil était vraiment sympathique et nous avons passé un très bon moment avec les propriétaires du restaurant (lui au service et à l'animation, elle en cuisine).
Côté culinaire, nous avons eu des plats savoureux de l'entrée au dessert.

D' abord un accueil extraordinaire du patron !Un Super restaurant Madame à la cuisine véritable cordon bleu. Tout est parfait du Baccalo au ragoût de mouton façon Portugaise un choix de plats typiques a ravir.. Un plaisir ce Patron d'un accueil incroyable et spectacle a lui tout seul. (One Man show )Ne terminer pas votre séjour sans passer par ce restaurant. Un bon souvenir d'un passage a Lisbonne.

Se siete a Lisbona non potete perdervi questo ristorante. Ottima cucina casalinga, qualità degli ingredienti, eccellente scelta di vini. Prezzi nella media, conduzione familiare. Il titolare è molto simpatico e si intrattiene a chiacchierare con gli ospiti.

Great experience. Maybe a bit expensive for Lisbon but not compared to french/belgian standards. The waiter was friendly and english-speaking. He was really welcoming and helpful. There was plenty of food and it was really good. We highly recommend this place!

SUPER !Nous recommandons ce restaurant, le personnel est charmant et très attentionné, il parle aussi anglais et français! , le cadre ( déco, musique..) est très sympa , nous avons très très bien mangé de l entrée jusqu au dessert : plats delicieux et copieux pour un prix tout à fait abordable. Vous pouvez y aller les yeux fermés vous ne serez pas déçu! Bravo à toute l equipe , continuez ainsi .

Nous étions un petit groupe de 5 personnes et tous ont apprécié les plats succulent fait par Madame la patronne ainsi que le service et l'accueil fait par Monsieur le patron.

Muy rico todo y un personal excelente el camarero francés majísimo y la cocinera portuguesa muy maja también cuando pedimos la cuenta salió de la cocina a preguntar que tal había ido todo, es la mujer del camarero. También hay otra cocinera que es muy maja. Al irnos nos despidieron con mucha amabilidad. Buen precio. Ideal para grupos y familias. Los bacalaos exquisitos y el pollo también, y para acabar unos postre buenísimos. Destacó la tarta de manzana la más rica que había comido nunca.

Tutto di elevata qualità. Ambiente accogliente e curato nei dettagli. Piatti veramente ben presentati, con materie prime di qualità e ricette equlibrate, senza esagerazioni, ma ben calibrate nelle dosi. Ho provato il baccalà con gamberetti e formaggio di pecora (ebbene si... un abbinamento azzardato ma vi assicuro che se ben dosato ci sta tutto!) Ottimo vino bianco in abbinamento. Ho provato a pescare vini a me poco noti nella zona del Douro e ho azzeccato appieno la scelta con un riserva 2015 "Quinta da Lamelas": da sommelier professionista vi garantisco la scelta. Due secondi piatti con contorni (buoni anche questi) + vino: 55 € in due. Onesto e sicuramente da consigliare. Specie alle coppiette in cerca di locali tranquilli dove passare la serata in compagnia di ottimi piatti e una bella bottiglia di vino.

Worst restaurant experience ever. We came in because we saw good reviews of people mentioning it's a family place owned and served by a couple. We saw it was quite empty and thought to do a good deed and go in there. I wanted a full course and a desert and a drink, my girlfriend only wanted dessert and a drink. She wasn't that hungry. When we asked what he had for dessert, the owner/waiter said he doesn't know, whatever his wife makes. We asked if he can ask, as we would like to know the options, he didn't want to. Furthermore when he saw that she only wanted dessert and not a full course meal, he just grabbed the menus from our hands and started saying bye bye now, you go bye bye.. basically threw us out of the place.. where the hell have you ever heard of that anywhere else in the world? We went nearby and ate, there a lot of better choices, when we passed by again, they had already closed.. that's what happens when you treat customers like a dictator. Bottom line? Don't go there, you'll just end up ruining your evening.

Super restaurant!
Nous étions avec mon copain et nous recommandons les yeux fermés ce restaurant.
Nous avons passé un excellent moment malgré le contexte particuliers qui régnait à Lisbonne (juste avant les annonces de confinement).
Ce restaurant est tenu par un couple avec madame en cuisine et monsieur en salle !
Choix des plats variés, sans qu’il y en ait trop : on voit que les produits sont frais, et préparés sur place par la cheffe qui maîtrise sa cuisine d’une main de maître!
Nous nous sommes régalés de l’entrée au dessert (le poulpe est un des meilleurs que j’ai mangé de ma vie).
Le service était top, Monsieur nous a très bien conseillé pour le vin, et nous a beaucoup fait rire! Il a également pris la peine d’essayer d’échanger en français avec nous.
La cheffe fait un tour en salle à la fin du service pour savoir si tout s’était bien passé, ce qui est très professionnel de sa part.

My friends and I visited this restaurant on Friday evening before attending a family party locally. The long suffering wife in the kitchen may be used to her husband/owners rudeness and tantrums but we were not. Not only did we not get all we asked for but after us having 4 main courses and wine when we asked for the bill the owner literally humiliated us in front of the whole restaurant and screamed at us to leave. This was our first night in Lisbon and definitely our last in this restaurant, as it was certainly not what we expected or are used to. In fairness to the chef her food was lovely but having to watch her being shouted out through the serving hatch by this very unpleasant person was unbearable. Do not eat here ever unless the owner subscribes to Anger Management therapy.

Walking around with no reservation is always a worry but with great luck we found this fantastic restaurant. Not touristy but just Stephan and his wife doing fantastic food and wine in a relaxed setting. Stephan was such a funny and great host, it really made our day. And his wife is the real treasure behind the scenes cooking such fantastic food. Highly recommended!

There seem to be two kinds of restaurants in the tourist areas of Lisbon. Those operated by outsiders brought in to turn over tables, and the great ones like Latitude 38 run by locals with a passion for food and hospitality. Stephan is an amazing host whose one goal is to leave his customers smiling with both his wife’s cooking (the best we had in Lisbon) and his genuine affinity for his guests. We’ll remember the food and hospitality for a long, long time.

It is offensive to me as a portuguese to go to a place that calls itself a "portuguese" restaurant with such a lack of hospitality and a highly rude and unpleasant hosting. The host was indelicate not only directly to the guests but also indirectly to us by screaming at the chefs in the middle of the dining room. Really a terrible experience. Lisbon has a lot more to offer with better food and most importantly with better service.

Perfect service and food. Best we had in Lisbon. Had razor clamps and mussels as starters, lamb stew and monk fish as the main dishes, accompanied with green and white wine. All is amazing. 完美的食物和服务，可能是里斯本吃得最好的一顿。老板非常热情友善。菜肴的口味也非常适合中国人，前菜的蛏子，牡蛎与蒜，香菜一起炒，羊肉和土豆也非常软嫩。DOC的绿葡萄酒和白葡萄酒也非常适合佐餐，强烈推荐。

Das Highlight unseres Lissabon-Aufenhaltes. Wir hatten es am Vorabend auf dem Heimweg entdeckt und gleich für den Folgeabend reserviert. Wir wollten unbedingt den großen runden Tisch haben, da wir zu 7 waren. Eigentlich war der schon reserviert, der Chef hat ihn aber für uns verfügbar gemacht und die anderen Gäste (die dann eh nur noch zu 4 waren) implantiert.
Der Chef hat den kompletten Service im Restaurant allein gemacht und seine Frau stand mit einer Gehilfin in der Küche und alle hatten ordentlich zu tun.
Nicht's desto trotz wurden wir super bedient, bewirtet und unterhalten. Die Speisen waren durchweg sehr lecker und die Weine dazu passend empfohlen.
Das zu Erleben können wir nur eempfehlen. Vielen Dank für den schönen Abend!

Eccentric Frenchman as the waiter and he's Portuguese wife as the cook makes a great combo!
All the wine comes from small local Portuguese producers and the dishes are also Portuguese, but some sounds like they have a French touch :)
Would come here any day of the week !

Stephane and Margarita together run this amazing family restaurant in Lisbon that I highly recommend. The food cooked by Margarita is fantastic and Stephane’s humor/company keeps you engaged throughout. Had an amazing dinner here recently and my lamb stew based main course dish was outstanding. Kudos to them both! See you both next time.

It's a really lovely restaurant with great service. The owner was very nice. The ladies in the kitchen cooked the food with heart and soul. One of the ladies even came out and showed us what she used to make the delicious monkfish dish.
I'd highly recommend this place.

Au-delà d'un repas, notre passage chez Latitude 38 a été un véritable moment de partage, un souvenir marquant de ce voyage, révélateur de ce que l'on a pu découvrir du Portugal : un accueil familial, chaleureux, sincère ; des saveurs nouvelles ; une gastronomie fine de l'entrée au dessert ; le tout sublimé par une culture viticole malheureusement méconnue. On voulait déjà revenir au Portugal avant de l'avoir quitté, on sait maintenant qu'on reviendra aussi à Latitude 38.

Ein Restaurant mit wirklich sehr freundlichem Personal und angenehmer Atmosphäre. Die Hauptspeisen (Cod Fish) waren sehr schön zubereitet und an sich bestimmt schmackhaft, jedoch leider beide komplett versalzen.

A must visit place in Lisbon for some scrumptious food! Stephan's charm & Guida's mouth watering food make this an absolutely fantastic food experience. The razor clams definite must, and the monkfish in cassava sauce, lamb stew and the codfish Portuguese style...❤️❤️❤️. Fills your heart... Oh and don't forget to leave some space for the desserts!!

If you visit Lisbon make sure you dine at this restaurant as it is first rate.
The food was superb , the service and ambience are a delight and the owners could not be more pleasant.

Very rude owner unless, it seems, you are ready to spend what he thinks you SHOULD. He didn't like, among other obnoxious comments, that we (3 adults and one shild) only ordered 3 main dishes and one entrée. For the first time in 53 year life and 100s of restaurant experiences I left before being served.

(English follows) Defugiu la gentada del Mercado da Ribeira i gaudiu de la cuina portuguesa amb un toc afrancesat. Productes del mar fresquíssims. Stephan a més us aconsellarà amb molt bon criteri quin vi encaixa amb el vostre gust i amb la cuina de Margarita. Preu força correcte.
Avoid the crowded Mercado da Ribeira and enjoy the portuguese-french cuisine. Fish is really fresh and delicious. Stephan is really kind and can also offer excellent wine advice. Price is quite reasonable

Découvert par hasard le 1er jour de notre séjour à Lisbonne (et au Portugal) nous avons été agréablement surpris par la qualité de la cuisine, l'accueil de Stéphane (breton d'origine) et de sa charmante épouse portugaise. Nous avions encore 2 autres soirées à passer à Lisbonne et nous avions tellement apprécié la cuisine que nous n'avons pas cherché ailleurs et nous sommes retournés à Latitude 38 ces 2 autres soirs.
Quel plat choisir ? Difficile, puisque tout est délicieux. Personnellement je me suis régalée avec un filet mignon de porc au Porto accompagné d'une préparation spéciale aux pointes d'asperges absolument délicieuse, et un plat de crevette au curry, pas spécialement portugais, mais tout aussi délicieux pour ceux qui aiment la cuisine relevée !
Je recommande vivement ce restaurant à tous ceux qui vont passer à Lisbonne car, en plus , le rapport qualité /prix est excellent !!
Si je retourne un jour à Lisbonne, ce que j'espère, je retournerais chez Stéphane et son épouse.

Nous avons découvert ce restaurant par hasard le jour de notre arrivée à Lisbonne , nous l'avons tellement apprécié que nous y avons pris nos 3 dîners lisboetes !
Nous avons été séduits par un accueil chaleureux, et un rapport qualité prix exceptionnel ! Un prix d'excellence pour la qualité des repas servis et des vins recommandes par Stéphane dans un environnement agréable .
Au bout des 3 jours nous avions l'impression de dîner chez des amis .
À ne rater sous aucun prétexte si vous passez à Lisbonne .

We came here to celebrate my father's birthday by dumb luck and we were extremely pleased with our experience. The owner/staff treat you like family in this place and the food is amazing. Every dish is made with care, passion and pride. Don't think twice about going to this place.

Come-se boa comida tradicional nesta casa. A cozinha não deslumbra mas cumpre e o atendimento compensa pela extraordinária simpatia.
O serviço foi demorado, a casa estava cheia, mas se não se tiver pressa está-se bem.
As doses são em quantidades razoáveis.
A lista de vinhos é muito curta e os preços não são baixos.

Very good food & wine at great prices! Service was wonderful and very informative. Excellent ingredients prepared with flare and respect for tradition. Wine selection was great. Also serve local beers which, sadly, I didn't get to try. Highly recommend this place about a five minute walk from the big Mercado. Will definitely go back next time I'm in Lisbon.
