We had a couple of good meals here. The host was polite and multilingual, the service prompt and the food tasty. It is a small restaurant up in the hills but well worth searching out and taxis will take you there. Just to add something extra special, for a couple of euros more than a regular glass of wine you can help yourself from wine barrels endlessly!

Great place, amazing food, friendly service and for a little bit extra, neverending wine from the barrel. The food is well prepared, tasty and nicely presented. We have sampled many dishes and have yet to be disappointed. I particularly like the black pork cheek stew with prunes. It was so delicious, the meat melted in your mouth. We have yet to manage to eat on the balcony with the views and that is with us booking. So be prepared, book well in advance if that is want you want. But don't be alarmed if you are in the inner building, it is charming too. But it is still best to book.

Excellent food, excellent location and excellent service. For a restaurant tucked in a valley at the base of the Sera de Monchique to always be so popular is testament to the quality on offer. We very frequently visit and ALL our guests request that we book a meal there when they arrive in Portugal.

What a great restaurant. A good range of choices, from rabbit stew to fish Cataplana. You serve yourself wine from a barrel.
The food was excellent, we had the Cataplana and beef cheeks. The place was packed. The menue is a set price, doesn't matter what you chose to eat. Portions are large enough that you will not leave hungry.
Beside it being noisy, we have nothing to complain about.
We will be back

Fantastic food and service. Price was not much compared to what you get in exchange. For couple of euros you can have their White and/or Red wine to drink as much as you please. And for that taste you surely drink it.

Experiência "suis gêneris", ementa apresentada num cavalete com um quadro em ardósia feita a apresentação oral, seguiu-se a escolha, boa confecção da comida, cataplana de peixe 22,50€, 4 pequenos pedacos de peixe e 3 metades de batata, 1 sopa de legumes 4€, preços desajustados face à quantidade servida (pouca quantidade). Atendimento no minimo "diferente", lista das sobremesas "ditadas" após 10 min. de espera e alguma insistência. A não repetir, neste patamar de preços, existem melhores opções.

Atendimento impecável com uma ementa super variada. Ementa essa com qualidade de chef! Totalmente recomendado, contudo sempre com reserva à priori pois apesar de, de certa forma parecer deslocado tem mesmo bastante procura pela sua qualidade já comprovada.

Adoramos e recomendamos vivamente. Excelente espaço e uma feijoada de marisco divinal. A isto junta-se vinho à descrição e self-service diretamente da pipa. As sobremesas, desde gelados a doces tipicos do Algarve, podemos provar de tudo. Menu almoço a 14€ (pao e azeitonas, prato, Sobremesas e café). Vinho à discrição a 3€. Sugestao: fazer reserva.

Nada a apontar. A única coisa que não me agradou foi... o café. Tudo excelente: a comida que convida a novas experiências, o atendimento único, um conceito de vinho e menu diferente de todos os outros restaurantes.... Ninguém pode hesitar em vir conhecer esta casa e conhecer o simpático e profissional sr Fernando.
Braga fica longe mas quero voltar.

We visited Fernando and his staff in this beautiful place, on the 3rd August. Such a lovely experience. Food and ambience fabulous. Great place to watch the sunset.

Fantastic dining experience. Very friendly service. Delicious food. Decent price in the end (€24 per person including wine and dessert for some!)... definitely recommended. They also have a delicious vegan stew with chestnuts and other goodies inside.

Bardzo dobra restauracja. Wnętrza tradycyjne, mnóstwo dekoracji w stylu starego wiejskiego domu, beczki z winem, obrazy itp. w południe danie dnia, w cenie przystawka, danie, deser. Cena nie jest może najniższa, ale jakoś jedzenia wysoka, porcje duże, obsługa bardzo profesjonalna, stara się wyczytać każde życzenie. Do obiadu można za niewielką oplate dolewać sobie wino z beczki do oporu. W restauracji wewnątrz dużo miejsca, z tarasu piękny widok na góry. Obok duży parking. Toalety czysciutkie. Polecam!

Restaurante direccionado para estrangeiros. Em cerca de 8 mesas, ninguém era português. Parece que funcionam por recomendação. Chegámos, estivemos 10 min à espera que nos fosse apresentado o menu. Chegaram, depois de nós, um grupo de estrangeiros, o menu foi-lhes apresentado num minuto. Depois dessa atitude, saímos do restaurante.

Mr Fernando was an amazing host, the food was superb (mussels, lobster bisque, beef cheeks, lamb stew) and the all you can drink wine deal was top notch! A lovely pudding and glass of port too - you wont find better....

I've been coming to the Algarve since I was very young, and this is right up there with the best meals I've had here in 20 years.
The staff are funny without trying too hard and the wine is almost too nice.. You may drink more than you think!

This place is sublime. I went here with my friend, who is over visiting me for the week. Every single aspect of our experience was nothing short of perfection, and we left feeling satiated and super impressed. The service was A+, the atmosphere was fantastic, and the food was seriously good. I am vegan so I appreciated that they made something special up for me. It was among the best vegan meals I've had since I arrived here,o two years ago (the only thing that I would like to see is a vegan starter to rival the deliciousness of the main!). I will be back again, and again. And again.

After been here four or five times now, this is without doubt the best place to eat, drink and enjoy the friendly atmosphere, the staff are attentive and helpful and of course the food is divine !! the lamb shank is to die for ! and all so well priced, book for Sunday lunch !!!

I'm Portuguese and need to say this as a disclaimer first. This is the best meal had outside of my vovó cozinha (grandmother kitchen).
Go early to get a table at the window to see the countryside and the black board menu everyday that changes.
drink the wine from the barrels and get every meal you want...don't be shy. Best Portuguese steak I've had. Enjoy the vinho tinto and vinho branco. :)

Comemos costeletas de borrego. Foram as costeletas mais tenras que já comi. Tinham opção de molho de alho ou molho de menta, mas estavam tão saborosas que me esqueci do molho.

Llegamos sobre las 22.00 y el dueño nos comentó que solo atendían con reserva, pero que aún así podíamos cenar, por lo que recomiendo que reservéis por si acaso. El dueño fue muy amable en todo momento explicando lo que había en la carta.
Pedimos una carne que estaba muy rica, y en cuanto a la bebida puedes servirte vino blanco y tinto de las barricas tanto como quieras por 4 euros/persona. El sitio es como un mesón antiguo muy acogedor.
En cuanto al precio es bueno considerando la calidad de la comida. Sin duda volveríamos.

Conceito engraçado de refeição: para além da escolha à carta, por 14.50 euros inclui uma grande variedade de pratos, couvert, sobremesa e café. Por 2.5 euros temos vinho branco e tinto diretamente da pipa. O branco está fresco, o tinto infelizmente está quente. Por 3.5 euros temos uma entrada de queijo cabra derretido com mel e gambas ao alhinho. Provámos a bochecha de porco- deliciosa - e o pato estufado com laranja- um pouco enjoativo. Para terminar um sorvete de limão com vodca ou espumante. Espaço e serviço muito agradável

An object lesson in how to do it right. If only all restaurants were run like this and were this good at this price point. A one-off, (unfortunately), and anyone who doesn't leave feeling extremely satisfied and contented must have issues in life. A simply wonderful establishment, and it all trickles down from the man at the top, Fernando, they don't come anymore accomplished in their chosen field, then he does.

Fui visitar o restaurante guiada pelas avaliações on-line. Comi um creme de tomate de pacote disfarçado com natas....o resto estava regular, nada de extraordinário. O dono não parece saber a diferença entre simpatia e intrusão...

Que experiência incrível. Temos de elogiar quem merece. Acho que somos as únicas portuguesas no restaurante.
Este lugar saí fora da rota da praia, fica no interior algarvio, não muito longe de Lagos e Portimão. O dono é de uma simpática extrema, brincalhão e conhecedor da arte de bem servir. O almoço estava estupendo. O pernil tinha um sabor exótico que me levou até às origens do Algarve. A cataplana estava de tal modo gostosa que parecia um caldo de peixe a feito pelo meu avô. Sabores da infância e textura perfeita. Iremos voltar com toda a certeza e recomendo a quem gostar de comida portuguesa. Que o sucesso os acompanhe sempre. Vale 5 estrelas

It's so much more then a simple meal, it's the experience. High food quality, ambiance and the friendliness and knowledge of its owner Fernando…all merged into a great couple of hours (actually more then that)! An amazing restaurant, in an unexpected location. A must to any visiting the Algarve.

Trato amable. Además nos atendió el dueño, que es muy simpático. Comida deliciosa. La cataplana, espectacular. Buen trato, por parte del personal. Te sientes como en casa. Sin duda alguna, volveremos. No es nada caro, por todo lo que ofrecen. Nos guiamos por unas reseñas de tripadvisor, que muchas veces me he guiado por ellas, y me he llevado decepción, pero en esta acertaron de pleno. 100% recomendado

Veel, goed, lekker eten, zeer vriendelijk personeel, prima inrichting. Truc van onbeperkt wijn drinken op dins- en zondagen is erg slim en prima. Wel een kakofonie van jewelste als je toevallig belaagd wordt door een groep Amerikanen.

Fantastic restaurant with great selection of food. All main courses have the same price and come with desert. They even made a vegetarian lasagna for me. The owner is so nice and speaks about 7 languages.
