Conseillé par le guide du Routard 2019, nous avons été fortement déçus par ce restaurant et la prestation de Fado qui l'accompagne. La propriétaire pousse d'emblée à la consommation en nous proposant des assiettes d'apéritif à 5€ l'unité puis des plats basiques et extrêmement salés à 17 - 20€ chacun ! Au total, nous avons eu une addition de 57€ (à régler impérativement en liquide) sans prendre de dessert ! Cela revient cher pour une prestation de Fado relativement courte avec des musiciens très moyens ... Attrape touristes ! Je vous déconseille ce lieu. Advised by the guide Routard 2019, we were greatly disappointed by this restaurant and the delivery of Fado that accompanies it. The owner pushes from the outset for consumption by offering plates of aperitif at 5 € per unit and basic dishes and extremely salty at 17 - 20 € each! In total, we had an addition of 57 € (to be paid imperatively in cash) without taking dessert! This is expensive for a relatively short Fado performance with very average musicians ... Catch tourists! I do not recommend this place.

Fun experience, food is good, the fado is called ‘vadio’ meaning the singers arent professionals.... anyone with a voice can go up there and sing it seems. No issues with the singers in my opinion, but i am no professional to evaluate. It was enjoyable. I can see how the owner might rub certain customers the wrong way- you’ll either lova ‘A Pulga’ or you wont. I loved her- the fado was great, she may have been even better lol PS. people complaining about prices on here- word to the wise- always ask before consuming things given to you so you’re not surprised at the end. Buyer beware. Enjoy!

The best all four Fado music bars and restaurants that we went to. All the singers and musicians from the other bars seem to end up here after they’re done with their gigs elsewhere, ending in a great big jam session! It’s also inexpensive, casual and friendly!

Amazing night listening to Fado! Tiny place but always busy! Open till late. Had a spontaneous night and heard the fado singers in the street. We just walked in and stayed for 2 hrs. When I tried to order white wine they said “here you drink white port and beer! That’s the Portuguese way!” Haha good enough for me! Port is amazing there! Genuine service, super fun! Worth a visit!

Établissement authentique et convivial, niché en plein coeur de l alfama. Accueilli avec le sourire et la gentillesse de la patronne, la cuisine est simple et typique, mais surtout le fado merveilleux pour ceux qui le decouvrent pour la première fois (comme nous). Les chanteurs se succèdent et l ensemble mérite un vrai coup de coeur. Mieux vaut arriver tôt (20h) ou réserver car la salle est petite. Allez y les yeux fermés.

Vítor Gomes: Visitei este local já poucos dias pela primeira vez e fiquei fã . Aqui houve-se o fado sentido e verdadeiro, cantado com muita devoção e sentimento. A casa não é grande mas o conforto e a proximidade do ambiente conforta-nos a alma e alegram-nos o espírito. Os bons petiscos e bebidas são um óptimo incentivo para um fim de noite em grande estilo. Experimente reservar e apareça que não vai arrepender-se.

It was our last night in Lisbon, we heard music and a nice voice on a small street on our way to another place, looking for a Fado bar, so we came in, and it ended up being the nicest last night possible ! It seemed to be a family and/or friends holding the place and playing music, it was very friendly atmosphere, everybody was supporting each other, singing one after the other, but in a very respectful way for the Fado, and really, really good. A big Bravo to the musicians and singers, just amazing. As soon as we arrived we got seated and the woman brought us a bottle of Porto with two glasses, filled it up and gave us a paper for us to write ourselves how many glasses we were taking from the bottle to pay for the amount in the end. It was at the same time kind of cool to be directly put in a Lisbon pure experience, pretty fun, but also we could ask ourselves if it was a total honest move to not really ask for what we wanted and bring directly a bottle at our table. At 5 euros the glass (size of a shot glass), which we know only when we go to pay, thats's a smart move that they pulled at all the new customers, good money ! A shame it has to be that way. Porto was really good though, I'm glad I tried it. Generally that's what this place is, it's an amazing experience with amazing music and very warm atmosphere, but it also has this part of trying to get the money you have to offer in a kind of, but not really, discret dynamique way. But these people are very welcoming and if you just relax, enjoy the moment, and ask for what you want, you will have the best time. We stayed until 2am. Absolutely worth it.

Erg duur voor eten, drinken. We hebben uiteindelijk niks gegeten en alleen wat gedronken. De eigenaar wil ook graag dat je als gast veel besteed. Ze vroeg nadrukkelijk meerdere keren of we niet een steak wouden. Maar er was wel live fado, dat was wel weer leuk.

One star - because I cannot rate it with 0. Classical scam for tourists: cheap food at a high price and low quality "fado" music. A place to avoid... €15 a vegetarian dish with two slices of carrot, scrambled eggs, plain white rice and beans, and boiled broccoli.

Waarschijnlijk één van de laatst bijgekomen tavernes in Alfama maar voor mij wel de beste. Eten, muziek, ontvangst en een gedreven Isabel zorgen voor een volmaakt geheel. Een echte aanrader als je in Alfama bent.

My favourite night in Lisbon - the food was amazing, good wine, fantastic singing. Pulga the owner is so friendly. Spontaneously wandered in there for dinner at 8pm, was still there at 1am. Thanks for a great night!

Best fado and food venue in Lisbon. If you spend minimum of €10/20 per person on food and drink you get the experience of Fado included for free! If you don't buy any food or drink then you should pay a cover charge. Regardless, every cent here is worth its weight in gold! Compared to other "fado" bars/restaurants, they don't push a packaged deal. Singers and musicians vary each night. You will always be surprised. You are welcomed like part of the family. By far this was the best experience of our time in Lisbon. Unforgettable. Thank you Isabel

As aparências iludem, este ditado nunca esteve tão certo!! Fomos recebidos com um comportamento festivo e acolhedor. No final por apenas 2 portos minúsculos foram me pedidos 8€, dei uma nota de 10€ e a dona recebe e diz que tá certo, nisto começa a falar com outro cliente para que me esquecesse do troco. Noutra das situações perguntei a outra das pessoas que ali trabalhava se iria estar presente no dia seguinte para cantar , ao que me responde de uma maneira autoritária “ não me ouviu cantar ainda agora ? “ , isto enquanto obrigava um casal estrangeiro a comprar o CD dela. Pessoas que desconhecem a palavra humildade, fado muito fraco ! Uma experiência a não repetir! Dou 1 estrela porque não dá para ser zero !

4€ por um copo muito pequeno de vinho do Porto. No fim da noite ainda tentou ficar com o troco. Quando se entra parece uma atmosfera fantástica mas quando vamos a ver é apenas uma forma de tentar engrossar a fatura ao máximo. A não repetir com toda a certeza.

We stumbled across this place on our way back to our Airbnb and ended up having the best night. Tiny, super cozy place with several singers— which, in our ignorant opinion, we’re all excellent. The owner “Pulga” is a true character and the soul of the house. We ordered a port, she brought it and open the bottle in front of us, and left it there on our table with a piece of paper and a pen for us to just write down how many glasses we had. A whole bottle later, we were all standing up and dancing around with the singers (only at the very end though, as you’re expected to be quiet during most of the singing). We felt like we were in someone’s living room/kitchen. Super friendly atmosphere and lots of locals. Funny enough, I’m writing this review from my room, where the window is open and I can hear the singers at Pulga right now :)

This is truly a special place in Alfama. Wonderful Fado music in a small rustic, and authentic setting. The owner personally showed me around and gave me the history of fado and her restaurant. If you want some amazing port and an unforgettable night, come here!

Piccola taberna piena di fascino popolare, con cantanti e suonatori di fado che emozionano. Locale gestito da quattro donne meravigliose. La proprietaria, Isabel (la pulga) accattivante e istrionica, una macchietta popolana che richiama anche le nostre Loren e Magnani, Chou Chou la simpatica ricciolina che canta fado col cuore, la cuoca silenziosa tenera e, a quanto pare, fata della cucina, la giovane figlia della Pulga che presenta e canta fado con note chiaroscurali d’incanto. Bravissime! Da provare nella “napoletana” Alfama!

This was our last night in Portugal. We wanted to hear some Fado music before we left and so we headed toward the Fado district in Alfama. With 10 people and no reservations, it was an ambitious goal, but after some misses, we stumbled upon A Pulga. The atmosphere could not be better--tiny place off a small alley, menus are hand-written, and the owner makes makes you feel like you are at your grandmother's table. The food was excellent, the music was better. As others have stated, everyone is expected to be quiet during the singing. It is more than worth it. We realized quickly that we were the only Americans in there. These were all locals singing for each other. Fado is a passionate music and one that must be heard live to be appreciated. Each singer was wonderful, but one young man, Luis, took our breath away. His voice was opera-good--so powerful and moving. It gave us all chills. The prices were in line with what we paid in Portugal. I would order up on the wine--we didn't love the house wine, which we tried first, and there is so much good wine in Portugal no one should settle for less. The owner gave us all hugs as we left. Truly a night we will never forget. The highlight of our ENTIRE stay in Portugal. HIGHLY recommend.

Beautiful Fado music. We were welcomed very friendly and our small glasses of Porto were filled quickly when they were empty. We were also offered the portuguese pastry, pastel de nata. We very much enjoyed the night, but were disappointed when we got the bill. It turned out the porto was not cheap(€4) and the pastry was an excessive €5 each. Also one of the singers got somewhat angry at us for not buying her cd. This meant we left with mixed feelings.

Wonderful home style Portuguese cuisine. The owner mentioned it was her life long dream to own a fado restaurant and succeeded to open in May 2018. Friendly and warm atmosphere with food packed with comfort and flavor. The fado is emotional and rich. Top it off with some Ginja for a night cap and call it good! Totally worth it!

Gezellige volkse sfeer in dit fado café. Ik was echter niet opgezet met de manier waarop de eigenares op alle mogelijke manieren de rekening probeert aan te dikken: brood (2€), olijven (2€), kaas (5€) ham (5€), Porto (4€ per glas) en dessert (5€) ongevraagd gekregen en telkens geweigerd. Onder druk gezet om toch te proeven. Zeer onaangenaam.

A primera vista nos parecio un sitio pequeño y vacio en comparación con restaurantes cercanos más turísticos. Nos llevamos una grata sorpresa por la variedad de artistas de fado, la simpatía de la propietaria y la decoración tradicional.

Comida aceitável mas a preços exorbitantes para a qualidade e principalmente para o tamanho das porções apesar da simpatia da cozinheira. A qualidade das vozes a cantar fado também deixou a desejar: apenas 2 dos/das 4 ou 5 que cantaram tinham voz.

L'adresse nous a été donnée par notre hôtesse lisboète et ce fut une soirée mémorable. Plusieurs artistes à tour de rôle, l'ambiance va crescendo... et la salle participe. Une ambiance du tonnerre grâce à Isabel (et la cuisinière) qui tient cette petite taverne avec enthousiasme, tant côté cuisine que des clients et des artistes. Fado vadio, facette populaire et plus enjouée que le fado traditionnel, il n'y a pas à choisir, ce sera les deux, mon capitaine ! Autrement dit, UNE SACREE ADRESSE (prudent réserver). La musique était bonne, mais... Cher pour une nourriture juste correcte. On se fait intimider à plusieurs reprises par la patronne pour consommer toujours plus d'alcool (franchement j'ai l'habitude des serveurs un peu rustres, mais là c'est un niveau au dessus). D'autres que nous se sont presque fait traiter de voleurs pour n'avoir pas assez payé à la fin (60€ à 2 "seulement" sans doute). Nos voisins (2 personnes) ont dû payer plus de 100 euros. Nous plus de 80 (sans dessert). S'il faut payer les musiciens, alors faites payer 20€ à l'entrée, et laissez les gens tranquille. Merci !

Ordered one drink and listened to fado for about 15 minutes on a Sunday night. I tried to pay for my drink and the woman behind the bar told me to wait, she went outside to talk to her colleague, then came back in and told me it would be €10. For ONE DRINK. She told me this is because for fado the minimum is 30€ and actually she was doing me a favor. I went to take out cash (was not expecting this fee and this place is cash only), when I got back and again expressed annoyance about the price she shrugged and said “the minimum for fado is 20€, I’m only charging you 10”. The fact that she needed to talk to a colleague before telling me the price, and that she said the minimum is 30, then changed it to 20, made it clear to me that she was lying and just taking advantage of a “tourist”. I’ve lived in Lisbon for three years and never been treated like this. Normally if there is a minimum they tell you in advance. Normally if you just have a drink and stay for a couple songs, they charge you for a drink. This place is scamming people just for the hell of it. There are plenty (I can’t emphasize enough, PLENTY) of equally good or better fado places that won’t charge you ten euros for 15 minutes and one drink. Absolute scam.

The local is small and food is regular, but it’s anyway a very nice experience. I could enjoy many types of fado in the same night, the singers are really close to you: it makes the experience cosy and familiar. I don’t put 5 starts because I think food could be easily improved.

Lugar maravilhoso e intimista. A Isabel recebe muito bem os convidados.

Daqueles restaurantes que começam a ser uma raridade na nossa cidade mas que é do mais típico que se possa imaginar. O espaço não é muito grande mas consegue abarcar uma infinidade de emoções. Verdadeiro fado vadio e de muito boa qualidade.Nesta casa tudo canta e encanta. Desde os fadistas residentes, os amigos que chegam, o empregado que está a servir etc... É quase como ir a casa de uma família que nos brindam com este ambiente tão tipico de Lisboa e que começa a desaparecer nos dias de hoje. Por isso, como alfacinha, é com muita alegria que vejo que o verdadeiro espirito de Lisboa ainda existe em sitios como este. Que perdurem por muitos e muitos anos!

Ambiente muito acolhedor e familiar, boa gente, bons músicos (até o muito novinho) e momentos de arrepio e olhos fechados com as vozes dos numerosos fadistas. A taberna bem decorada com alguns objetos insólitos e engraçados. Preço muito acessível. Recomendo.

Divertimento garantido num local onde se respeitam as pessoas, mas também o fado. Turista é bem-vindo, sem menosprezar o local que, além de cliente, pode ser artista. Obrigado Isabel, Artur, João... E a tantas outras pessoas genuínas e carismáticas que tornam este local obrigatório em Alfama. Até breve!

Sehr unhöfliche Gastgeberin. Verlangt für 4 x 02,l Bier 20€ .. und schreite uns letztendlich übel an nachdem wir den Preis in Frage stellten.

We were desperately looking for an authentic fado place, and we found a better one that we'd imagined. This is a small, cosy bar, with two dozens of guests - about the third of whom were fado singers or musicians (apparently all friends of the owner) who performed during the evening when we were there! There is a minimal required consumption, but the special atmosphere is really worth it.

La dueña es una maleducada, el trato fue malo desde que entramos al bar. Decidimos irnos porque en ese momento había fado y nos dijo que teníamos que consumir 10 euros cada uno. A nosotros solo nos apetecía tomarnos una cerveza, por eso salimos , y empezó a gritarnos delante de los demás clientes que el fado no era gratis y que teníamos que pagar. Una vez fuera en la calle, salió para seguir gritándonos. Un despropósito de señora.

Lo califico con una estrella porque no puedo hacerlo con menos. Hemos entrado queriendo escuchar fado y con la idea de tomar unas cervezas (o lo que surgiese). La dueña ya desde el principio empieza llamándonos "españolitos" y nos dice que, si no vamos a cenar, tenemos que consumir un mínimo de 10€ por persona. Finalmente decidimos abandonar el bar, a lo que nos responde entre gritos que el fado se paga, que no es gratis. Sabemos que no es gratis, lo entendemos y estamos de acuerdo; simplemente no queríamos quedarnos. No hay necesidad de dejarnos en evidencia delante del resto de clientes. Ha seguido gritándonos una vez estábamos fuera del bar. Una señora muy maleducada y un rato bastante desagradable.

Sadly the quality of the food is very low at very high cost. We had the Bacalhau and the dorade. Both dishes were below anything we’ve had in Portugal so far. And that at 17 € per dish. We were served a small glass of port in the beginning, which in the end turned out to be 5 € per glass. All the family members took part in the performance of the fado, which was of mixed quality, but mostly good. But when the matriarch of the family tried to sell her CD to us and reacted quite offendedly when we refused, it left a bitter taste in our mouth. For anybody looking for a good food and fado experience: avoid this place.

During the Fado Festival we visited this place, it looked really nice, but we were disappointed. The owner seemed to have had quite a couple of drinks already, and was not really friendly to some of the guests and her staff. The food is overpriced and the cod was really dry! Asking EUR 5 for a bottle of water is not really Portuguese style, is it? Skip this restaurant at all times!

Fado autentique, exellent repas (il y a même un plat végétarien, pas évident au Portugal ;)). Accueil sympathique et chaleureux!

What a great experience. The ladies that run the place are awesome and have so much character, you have to love the place. You get some fado and get squashed into a corner and it all seems to add to the experience. Of you're vegetarian, go somewhere else but if you just want a taste of Portugal then this is a good choice.

No volveré. Te intentan vender de todo, aperitivos, licores a precios desorbitados. Incómodos y reducidos los asientos. Te vende hasta un CD de música 15 euros.

Local novo mas cheio de tradição. De uma Lisboeta da graça para Alfama. São divinais as "Pataniscas de Bacalhau com Arroz de Feijão" e os "Peixinhos da Horta". Reservem, que é pequenino, e peçam este menu, eleva-vos a alma! Maravilhoso "Fado Vadio", como é mesmo típico, fado de tasca, não de show

Po naklucju smo naleteli na to majhno restavracijo v stranski ulici in imeli priloznost prisostvovati zagotovo enemu najboljsih FADO v Lizboni. Ob vecerji so prepevali domacini (imenicno 5 pevcev in 1 pevka). Zapela je tudi lastnica in tako se dodatno poskrbela za nepozabno dozivetje. Vstopnine ni bilo, hrana in pijaca je dobra, zaposleni prijazni in cene zmerne. ODLICNO!PRIPOROCAM!
