O Royale é sempre uma excelente escolha. Desde as bebidas aos pratos e sobremesas, tudo é delicioso e muito bem confeccionado. O pátio tardoz com o jardim vertical é um ótimo refúgio.

From the outside you don’t realize that there is a nice little patio in the back. Was for a short trip in Lisbon but end up eating there twice as the menu and dishes were really good. Both dishes I tried were great.

Highly recommended if you’re looking for a late lunch spot or early-evening dinner, sitting on the outdoor terrace and enjoying the sights and sounds of bustling Lisbon. The mini pavlovas with raspberries and lemon curd custards and delicious (and pair well with the house white wine!) Quirky, clean and stylish decor too. Relaxed, friendly and attentive service.

Simpel maar mooi ingericht restaurant. Het eten was ontzettend lekker, ook voor vegetarisch is er keus! Bediening was heel aardig en waren bereid om een ingredient te laten proeven dat ik niet kende. Top service! ik zal dit restaurant aanraden.

Fomos com grande expectativa mas ficou um pouco aquém. O local é simpático com decoração interessante de um lado e outro um pouco mais simples. Tem uma pequena esplanada interior mas resolvemos ficar lá dentro. O pessoal é simpático e fomos tratado com amabilidade, nada a apontar. Contudo, a comida não foi nada espectacular. Não era mau de todo, mas infelizmente nada espectacular ao ponto de nos fazer voltar.

Is a tourist trap, tough is good quality, is nothing "super special" expensive prices are not justified, 9€ for Toast and a coffee (by far NOT the best coffee in Lisbon) fancy place with regular products.

Restaurante muito bonito. Tem um jardim coberto, que no Inverno é climatizado, onde se pode jantar durante todo o ano. Uma ementa especial, com opções vegetarianas, uma boa carta de vinhos e um atendimento muito simpático fazem deste espaço um lugar a não perder.

Sala muito bonita. Tem um jardim ao fundo, que no Inverno é coberto e climatizado e pode-se lá jantar durante todo o ano, o que é muito agradável. A comida é boa, ao estilo mediterrânico, com muitos pratos vegetarianos. A carta de vinhos também é boa. De dia funciona como casa de chá.

Un restaurante diferente a lo que estamos acostumbrados en Lisboa. Tienen platos de diferentes países y luego además platos portugueses más elaborados y decorados de lo habitual.
Recomiendo tomar el hummus o el polvo (pulpo) a lagareiro. Si puedes, siéntate en el patio que tienen al final del restaurante, te encantará.

Good: setting was pleasant with a nice garden out back, prices were reasonable and portions were good
Needs improvement: food was interesting but average, waitrons forgot our coffee and drinks orders and could barely speak English (not great for a touristy part of town)

Nice location with great Portuguese food. The little patio outside is amazing to have a dinner in a peaceful square in the centre of Lisbon. I would like to mention the courteousness and niceness of the young lady that was our waitress.

Pela entrada ninguém dá nada por ele, porém, vale a pena... Comida muito gostosa, cardápio variado, preço justo, boa música e uma varanda nos fundos excelente para um bom charuto acompanhado pelo vinho Douro da casa. Recomendo! PS: Bacalhau Espiritual delicioso!

Platos muy pobres en presentación y calidad para el precio.
La camarera majisima. Pero en general están muy desorganizados, lentos.
La encargada un desastre, a los bocinazos parada en el coche, deteniendo el tráfico y haciéndole de malas señas a los empleados para que sacarán cajas de vino del coche.
La decoración del lugar está bien. Eso sí, en los baños ni papel higiénico no secamanos.

The grilled salad was very dissapointing. Not worthy to be called a main dish. I felt like a rabit. No meat and a very little cheese. 12 euro was too much for only baked salad!

Lekker eten voor een hele goed prijs. De cheese balls zijn zeker aan te raden en COD fish is voor de liefhebbers van vis gerechten zeker de moeite waard om uit te proberen.

My sister and me went there yesterday and we had the octopus. Later we both became sick. This is the only meal where we ate the same dish. We could not eat or drink anything else than water afterwards and felt very weak and nauseous.
Service was friendly and the food looked good but getting sick from food poisoning is really not great during a city trip.

J'y ai commandé un spring burger et n'ai pas spécialement apprécié le plat. C'était une question de goût ; le plat était en effet préparé et dressé avec finesse.
Beaucoup de bruit quand on mange sur la terrasse (août 2019) lié à des travaux juste en face mais encore une fois, le Royale café n'y peux rien.

I ordered the octopus, it was burnt and looked black when served, it tasted disgusting - what a waste of food. We told the staff but it was not taken off the bill. The Kir Royale was not very royale either - definitely not a place I would go back to!

My partner was served burnt squid. Just ate here, there's a reason the restaurant next door is much more popular. We had a couple of Kir Royales that tasted like cordial. Give it a miss.

I don’t think I’ve ever left a review before, but this story definitely deserves to be told. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced such petty service in my life. My family and I sat down and expressed being interested in the brunch, but a few of us were still looking at the menu so we decided to order coffee. When she returned to take our order, we decided to go ahead with what we had stated before and order the brunch. This includes a coffee, and juice/lemonade. The waiter asked how we would like our coffee, but since it had already been brought out and we mentioned ordering the brunch we assumed this would be included. However, she passive-aggressively stated that since the coffee was ordered before the meal it would not be included and they would charge for two. Um, what? Great way to lose business guys. Whoever the waitress was working the morning shift on August 8th needs to either brush up on how the service industry works or find a new job where that attitude can slide.
TL;DR - Petty waitstaff and unequal treatment to locals/tourists. Save your money and eat elsewhere.

Nous nous sommes arrêtés dans ce bar/restaurant un 1er soir pour boire un apero puis nous y sommes retournés pour diner un autre soir.
Ce bar restaurant est a coté d'un restaurant chinois a la mode, ils doivent en patir mais a chaque fois je me suis dit que je preferais etre a leur table qu'a coté.
Pour l'apéro rien a redire, les cocktails étaient bien préparés et servis rapidement.
Pour le diner on a trouvé ça bon ; sans être un gastro, les plats étaient travaillés et tres honnetes. Prix corrects et quantités juste comme il faut.
Le service était également appréciable. Une petite serveuse indienne serviable et marrante, un jeune serveur également serviable meme si la fatigue sur son visage faisait de la peine a voir. C'est un metier !!!

Zufällig hier rein geschneit, da wir Hunger hatten und eine Kleinigkeit zu uns nehmen wollten. Um die Mittagszeit war nicht viel los, was dafür sorgte dass wir schnell unser Essen bekamen. Dieses war recht lecker. Das Café liegt an einem sehr schönen Platz und hat einen netten Außenbereich.

Nice place, awful staff. The waitress was as passive-agressive as she could be, she even banged the plate on the table when she brought my order. The prices are unjustifiably high. The people on the other table looked very rich, and they had an ostensibly different treatment (be warned, this is very, very common in Lisbon, and the more fashionable / hipster the place, the worse it will be).

Es gibt sehr viel zu essen vom Café zum Burger alles nur zum empfehlen Bedienung nett gute Lage ruhig und Lehr man kann auch trausen essen. Einfach nur gut Ps wenn es kalt wird macht die Bedienung die Heizung die es drin und draußen gibt und es wärmt auch andere Cafés haben sowad nicht

They have a nice back yard perfect to have good food in a sunny day. I had the Mont Blanc brunch option with coffee and lemonade. I really enjoyed the main dish, the croassants with honey and chocolate and the yogurt. Didn't really like the glass mixing vegetables with cheese. It was ok but not for me. No problem speaking english or spanish. I recommend this place.

I would say ideal for an escape from the hustle and having a peaceful break.
The place does seam expensive and nice from the moment you arrive. Quiet music, peaceful decoration. The attention is good. It is a really quiet place, seams ideal for a coffee and having a relaxing time. I had the octopus and it was really salty, almost couldn''t finish it (maybe just bad luck?). But the place is nice. Prices a bit expensive.

A sliver of a spot tucked not far from busy shopping drag. A great place equally fitting for quick bites or leisurely meals. Service is attentive. Back patio feels like a well-kept secret for a rainy day. Menu has good variety with a bit Mediterranean feel. Food was pretty good and prices reasonable.

Café bastante agradável, com boa decoração. Apesar de tudo a iluminação podia ser um pouco melhor. Em termos de comida scones extremamente bons e saborosos, ótimo chocolate quente e capuccino e adoramos a torrada com mel. Único contra foi o tempo que estivemos a espera para coisas que acabam por ser simples e teoricamente rápidas mas que sinceramente acaba por compensar.

Went there Monday night and it was great. I had a veggie main - my mother had a steak sandwich that she said was beautifully cooked. Perfect portion size. Pannacotta delicious for dessert too!

Excellent. The baba ganoch taste is not authentic, it was creamy and delicious but was a mixture between hummus and baba ganoch( the authentic one).the pitta bread was soft and one of the best you could have in your life. The octopus was very well presented and i loved it's taste. Would come here again. Great customer service. Look around during lunch hour, all the restaurants around it doesn't get this crowded like Royale cafe, and that's because it is extremely good

Gostamos tanto que fomos duas vezes. Tem um polvo a lagareiro muito bom, é um linguine negro com camarões também campeão, e de entrada batatas bravas (com casca e molho com ervas), de sobremesa um bolo de chocolate quente com frutas vermelhas e sorvete, que dá um final de refeição excelente!

Os acompanhamentos do polvo podem melhorar. A batata estava quase so cozida, sem sabor, e is grelos estavam mal cozidos.
As coxas de frango à magusto com arroz de feijão estavam ótimas. Excelente arroz de feijão!

I have come here on several occasions, usually for small appetizer like pita with tzatziki and ice tea. Last time here we had lunch with friends and had amazing bacalhau and octopus - really the most delicious meal in last month in Lisbon. The prices are not the cheapest (average of 20 euros for main, drink and dessert), but definitely worth it!

Great atmosphere-sat on front patio, but would request back patio next visit. Baba Ganoush with pita was delicious. I had the garden burger which was satisfying, but a lot of roll for the size patty. Friend JD Black Linguine-liked it, but thought it could be better. Shared the Lime Avocado dessert and both found it incredibly satisfying!! Service was on the slow side (they weren't busy and employees hanging about). I would still return.

Had my birthday dinner here. Overall the food was creative, inventive and delicious. However my dish (linguini) was very basic and dry.
Also ordered a chocolate cake as a dessert which was out of this world. We asked for a box to take away the rest and they didn't have none (?).
The service could be a bit better but on a very busy Saturday night it's comprehensible. Overall I liked it!

Servicio horroroso. De entrada, nos extrañó que nos hablasen en inglés...en Lisboa. Les pedimos el menú en portugués, les hablamos en medio español, medio portugués...y seguían con el inglés. En fin... Y tardaron media hora en servir. No se enteraban ni estaban coordinados. La comida normalísima. La cerveza ¡¡¡Estrella Damm!!!!. Y para colmo no nos cobran una cerveza pero nos ponen un plato de 11 euros que no habíamos tomado. Lo dicho...para no volver.

Service was great. Food was outstanding. Best we've eaten since we came to Lisbon. I had the chicken thighs my wife had the cod. The Prawns were as good as any we have had in BC. They didn't rush us at all had a great desert and several glasses of wine. We had a great time, thank you.

Came on a Sunday expecting great things but sadly it was one issue after another. Friendly staff but seemed very inexperienced. Food was wrong twice and average taste, drinks were forgotten. Scrambled ggs were dry, portions small. Table next to us had similar issues

Excellent food all around and very reasonable prices, portions were also just right. The service was a bit slow, but on a Thursday night with only two waiters, they were packed!

We arrived last sunday at 11:30. After their homepage the cafe is open at 11:00 on sundays.
So the lady inside told us in an arrogant way, they open at 12:00.
Well hip café royale update your homepage and come down!

It was all wrong from the beginning. We waited so long to get a menu, then they mixed up our drinks, we waited soo long for the food and when it came it was again wrong. So they changed it and in the end it was cold. A sunday brunch that is supposed to be chill and enjoyable turned out to be a very bad experience. And we wasted so much time in our short time in Lisbon.

It seems that guests identified as tourists are served with lowest priority. It took quite a while until we even received the menu. We where not able to order, though, as we were ignored afterwards. The local businessesmen next to us were served immediately. We then left the place.
The food we saw on other tables looked good, so I give 2 stars instead of 1.
It's probably good of you are local, but tourists are not welcome.

Found this place by chance after wandering away from the hustle and bustle. Friendly attentive service. I had fig salad which was outstanding. My partner had the aubergine filo parcel which she loved. Both meals really niceyl presented. Will definitely go again!

Food was great, we had octopus and lolita salad and both were delicious and inexpensive. Menu was interesting overall. Atmosphere both indoors and outdoors was good. However, the service was below slow, forgetful and below expectations and therefore I need to drop one star.

Had the vegetarian burger and it was phenomenal - one of the best of my life. This place is great, the servers knew english and were very friendly. Will definitely be going back there during my trip here.

Only had a few beers and the bravas but the staff were great and the atmosphere also. They have a beautiful little courtyard out the back which would be great for dinners.

O Royale é daqueles portos seguros de Lisboa. O pátio nas traseiras é mesmo muito agradável, a carta é variada e ao longo destes anos todos tem mantido a qualidade. As saladas são óptimas e a limonada imperdível!

First day in Lisbon we went to Cafe Royale for the dinner. After that dinner we ate only at this place (breakfast and dinner) for the rest of our 4-day stay in Lisbon. We have tried half a menu and couldn't find any flaw. Everything was delicious, the price for this quality is way more than reasonable and the personnel is very friendly.
The place itself is very cosy with great music playing at the background. With a small patio at the back(4-5 tables) which is very nice and quite (it was a smoking area though at that time). There is good free wifi. The place itself is not big at all, so it gets busy closer to the weekends, therefore it is worth calling them and booking a table earlier that day. Everyone should try their OCTOPUS!

Ne vous fiez pas à la StreetView, aujourd'hui le Café Royale est sur une belle rue semi piétonne. Très agréable. Le serveur un peu timide était néanmoins très efficace. Bon repas.

We were a group of five including our little one (18 month). They were super nice and helpful with the carrier, extra little dish for the small guy, etc. Food was great too, funny and creative drinks, with and without alcohol. We sat outside in their green backyard at beautiful weather. 5 stars!

Apart from the really enjoyable food and the excellent service and atmosphere, the place is very nice and features what was at the time of its opening the very first green wall in Lisbon (or biowall or vertical garden, if you prefer).

Really tasty food and nice relaxed atmosphere. More than a cafe - we ate our evening meal there and it was more than enough food. Recommend the mazagran to finish your meal.
