Alleine die Athmospäre und Lage dieser Bar sind schon einen Besuch wert. Das Essen und Getränke sind es aber auch. :-) Einfach mal reinschnuppern. Kann man nur empfehlen.

Beautiful spot though it doesn't exactly open at 10 on Sunday. It's a long flight of stairs down, so not suitable for wheelchairs. I carried our buggy. Cappuccino was good, temperature of the coffee was hot. Definitely a plus. They have various drinks with and without alcohol

Rien à dire, le cadre est au top dans des criques au bord de l'eau. L'équipe est très pro dans une ambiance décontractée. La nourriture est très bonne, les choix dans la carte pourront satisfaire la plupart des gourmands. A faire si vous passez dans le coin.

Fabulous location in the limestone rocks with amazing views. I had fish which was great and the waitress took it off the bone. My wife had the best pork fillet she ever had. We have booked the restaurant again on Tuesday for our wedding anniversary. Not to be missed if you are in this lovely part of Portugal.

Cadre exceptionnel en plein coeur des falaises de l'Algarve, entre Portimao et Albufeira. Restaurant avec un service et des plats à la hauteur du lieu. Très bon poissons grillés, plat végétarien travaillé, dessert à découvrir : la tarte chocolat salami. Prix tout à fait corrects. Bref un excellent moment, j'y retournerai avec plaisir.

This is a must go place for its unique location. Great views, amazing sunset spot and very nice environment. Food was good, service not as attentive but very nice and kind staff. In the evening, a jacket is needed since it can get very chilly.

The perfect location with great views onto the sea as well as the perfect spot for sunsets.
Food is simple but very good - everything fresh from the BBQ, great wine selection and super friendly staff. Staff is very attentive and the place also does give blankets to their guests, as it gets cold after sunset.
A place to spend time as well as to return.
Thanks to the whole team for the lovely dinner.

Seriously amazing location on the cliffs over the ocean. Stopped in for a few starters and a few drinks. Had a great time. The staff were excellent. Ask for Francis. He was one of the better staff we have run into on our trip. Knows his wine. Foods is great. Reasonably priced given its location. Good wine list.

A seriously fantastic hidden gem along the Carvoeiro boardwalk. Friendly staff, delicious food from meat to vegetarian and a good variety of fish too. Prices are reasonable and cheaper than expected for a venue sited in such a great location. The food was served timely and by friendly staff. Can get a little cold late on the evenings (in April) so worth taking a jacket, they do however provide a complimentary blanket for you to use. This place comes highly recommended if you are looking for something a little different from eating and drinking in the main town. They also serve great cocktails to complete your night out!

A very interesting ideea of this Bar's placement(surrounded by rocks).
When I arrived there I was attracted by the smell of barbecue. Good food and very friendly staff. I can say it was on of my favourite Bars from the trip I had.
The prices are not to high, the menu has quite many choices. Mainly fish plates.
Recommend to anyone who is in the area.

Once arrived in this charming location, we immediately appreciate the beauty of the place. As soon as we arrived down on the restaurant we were welcomed by some kind waiters who guided us in our spot. Now the negative side of dinner begins, starting with the food of rather poor quality. Given the few customers present, the insistence of the service has become heavy. In the end the bill, all was way overpriced and for a small dinner we paid an amount way higher than the average of Algarve.
I’m really sorry for this review because I seriously had high expectations and I strongly hope that when I’ll come back the situation would be better.

I rarely give 5 stars, but Boneca Bar & Restaurant deserve it. We visited in September, 2018. We stopped by during the afternoon on our first day to check out the establishment and view and to have a beer. We already had dinner reservations for both our nights and I knew I was going to have to change one to eat here.
First of all, even if you are familiar with the views of the cliffs and sea in Carvoeiro and the Algarve, this place is special. It's very romantic. They do accept reservations and we suggest making them (in person or over the phone) as they probably seat around 35-50 tops.
On both visits all of our servers and staff members we encountered were extremely polite and friendly. I want to give a shout out to Mara, Eunice, "Orlando" (his name sounds similar - I couldn't quite understand) and Marcos, who was behind the grill. "Orlando" was our server for dinner on our second visit. We let him know how pleased we were to see that they served Tagus beer on draught as we had had our fill of Sagres and Super Bock in Portugal. He let us know he was a wine fan, not a beer guy. So I asked if he liked vinho verde, a Portuguese wine that we adore. His eyes lit up and he recommended a bottle of Ameal Loureiro vinho verde that was €17. It was splendid and we ended up taking a bottle home to the USA.
The menu is in Portuguese and English and they have a blackboard version outlining the fish available for the day. For dinner we shared a) Sopa de Peixa (spicy fish soup) €4.50; b) Amêijoas à Bulhão Pato (clams in wine, garlic & cliantro) €14; c) Ostras Algarvias (local oysters) €3 each; and, d) Espadarte (grilled swordfish) €17.
Everything we had was simply divine. I went over to speak to Marcos, the man behind the grill, to let him know that in America, we would refer to him as a "grill master." He understood perfectly what I was saying.
We highly recommend A Boneca! Not only was it the best meal we've had in Carvoeiro over two trips, it was the best meal we had period in Portugal over this trip. It's one of those rare finds. The next time we are in town, I intend upon eating there multiple times.

Schöne Lage aber so schlechte Gastronomie! Völlig unfähig obwohl eigentlich fleißig, schmutzig und unhygienisch. Speisen nicht gut zubereitet und viel zu teuer. Dennoch ziemlich gut besucht, die Lage macht es möglich

Such an incredible spot! We had booked some tables here for the night before our wedding, for the guests to meet each other. Everyone commented on the stunning location. We had more people arrive than were expected, but the staff were very accommodating for us. We were hoping to get a WOW factor for this occasion as this was the first night of our destination wedding, and this place certainly delivered!

APPALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE
It's such a shame to have to write this review. We have been customers to this bar for the last 14 years, visiting regularly on our trips over to Carvoeiro.
Unfortunately something has changed this year. We have not seen Carla or Lars on the premises throughout the year we wonder if the business/ management has changed hands.
The customer service that used to be exceptional has now become inexcusably poor. During our most recent visit we observed the staff standing around laughing and joking with each other whilst tables required cleaning and customers waited for service. We personally waited over 20 mins to obtain the attention of a very rude unkempt scruffy looking male member of staff. He appeared annoyed that we had asked for his service and actually threw the menus down on the table and walked off before taking an order for drinks.
A short while later we witnessed a party of people who had obviously given up on obtaining service stand up and leave. As they did so, this same scruffy individual started to sarcastically shout 'bye'..... 'bye' at the top of his voice over and over again until a male member of the party eventually turned around from the stairs and shook his head at him in disbelief. The staff member continued with his sarcastic assault until the customer said he will be having words with the management about his rude behaviour. At this the staff member shouted 'good luck with that one' and walked off. It was incredibly rude and made for very uncomfortable viewing for the surrounding customers. Shortly after we left..... Appalled at what we had witnessed.
I hope the management of Boneca read this review. Certain members of your staff need some urgent training in customer service! I would go as far as to suggest that particular members of staff (Ricardo Fortuna) are not suited to the job.
I'd like to take this opportunity to inform the general public that by law businesses offering services or providing goods in Portugal not only have to have a Livro de Reclamações, (complaints book) where customers can make a formal written complaint, but also have to have a notice, clearly visible in their premises stating they have the book.
Should you wish to make a complaint about the service or goods then you must ask the establishment for their Livro de Reclamações. The forms inside are in triplicate and it is important you provide information about yourself (name, address and identity card/residençia card or passport number), the reason for your complaint with the date and time of occurrence.
Once you have completed the form a representative of the company will have to counter-sign they have witnessed the complaint. Then you will receive a copy of this form. The company owner is duty bound to then forward a copy to the relevant regulatory body within five days of the complaint being registered within the book.
The regulatory body will then, within 10 days, decide upon reviewing all the evidence, what action needs to be taken. The regulatory body will inform all parties of the decision and the action taken.
Companies failing to have a Livro de Reclamações or failing to display clearly they have one can be fined between 250€ and 30,000€. Withholding the book from someone wishing to make a complaint can also result in a fine of up to 30,000€. If an establishment does refuse access to the Livro de Reclamações you can contact the police to intervene. At which point the severity of the fine which will be imposed on the company becomes no less than 15,000€."

Incrível. Fui com o meu marido e a minha bebê de 1 ano jantar ao entardecer e foi muito agradável. O serviço é muito ágil e simpático. Tinham cadeira para o bebê comer e uns lápis de cera para entreter o que foi ótimo! Agora quando se fala da comida é que a nota sobe. Muito Bom! Peixe super fresco e delicioso. Voltarei sempre que possível.

No se quien habrá dado permiso para plantar este adefesio de restaurante en medio de un lugar tan espectacular como los acantilados de Algar Seco. Rompe completamente con la belleza del lugar. Por otro lado, los camareros en vez de profesionales de la hostería parecen instagramers más pendientes de poner caritas para que las mujeres los admiren que de servir bien que es para lo que supongo se les paga, un poquito de agrado y actitud servicial es lo mínimo que se les pide. Una pena que gente así eche por tierra la exquisita educación de los portugueses. Supongo que solo habrá agrado para los centroerupeos que puedan dejar propinas. No volveré por allí y solo espero que lo quiten del lugar donde está para que no siga dañando la vista de los turistas.

El servicio bien, la verdad un poco lento pero se acepta. Pero si doy indicación de que me gusta la Carne poco hecha o mal pasada como de dice, lo espero así, Sin embargo la carne pasada y descongelada. No tengo tiempo de trucarla como se dice, pero el sitio vale la pena. Por la ubicación y vistas!

Visited this bar on a number of occassions never fails to impress, location is great nestled between the walls of stone, surrounded by caves with a lovely sea view. Worth the walk and climb down to the seating area, the smell from the bbq is great. Staff are polite, attentive and professional the bar is welcoming wether for a cool drink or lunch. Highly recommend.

Will need to book a table but well worth it. Not the cheapest place, but good value for money because the food is really good and the setting of this restaurant is one of the best around this area. Have read reviews that say the food and service aren't up to much and that this place is all about the view. We found the food was really good and the service was good too. Would definitely come back.

other than its nestled in an amazing crevice the food is about the same price as the other places on the street below and cheaper than by the beach. the waiters there are really nice. walked in without shoes or reservation 10 minutes before kitchen closed and they accommodated me. definitely worth a few visits. already planning my return tomorrow!!!!

After a nice strawl along the boardwalk we stopped at the Boneca bar for a drink. Thank God we did not planned to stay for dinner. We had to wait a while before the waiter to come and instead of saying hello he threw the menu's on the table and went away. Even when I asked him polite if we could order some drinks. The scenery is breathtaking, wish I could say the same over the waiters, not one was interested and have us a smile. So if you are up for a walk and a nice place for beautiful scenery you're ok here, if you are looking for a nice place to have dinner, you might have to look somewhere else..

Beautiful restaurant/bar on top of the limestone cliffs of Carvoeriro. A nice walk at the end of the boardwalk where you can have a meal or drink while enjoying the splendor of the area. There are steep steps down to Boneca but it is well worth the views and ambiance.

Really good food, great service, fantastic location. The menu is simple, but there's not much wrong with decent fresh food cooked well. BBQ style with lots of fish, peri peri chicken of course, and the ribs are good too. Waiting staff are friendly and professional. They have to work hard as it's busy, so best to book ahead. Not the cheapest meal we had all week, but it was the best.

Un cadre magnifique... et après.... un service très lent à la limite du courtois. Puis notre serveuse s'est un peu débridée. Les poissons grillés sont parfaitement cuits et excellent. Mais il n'y a pas d'assiette pour les carcasses de poissons ce qui n'est pas pratique. L'addition est très élevée par rapport au service (174 euros à 4 dont 1 enfant)

Appalling service.
We had to stand in the middle of the dining area where you enter for about 10 minutes before we decided to sit at an empty table after being ignored by the staff who were constantly passing us. Once we were finally noticed, the menus were placed in a pile on the table and the waiter walked off without a word. Food was okay, nothing particularly special. Quickest part of service was them bringing us the bill. Location was great but spoiled by the hostile atmosphere and unwelcoming staff.

If not for the location, would be just another tourist trap. Food is pricey but not crazy, mediocre but not terrible. Tastiest dish was the chicken piri-piri; chili helped hide how overcooked it was. Waitstaff is mostly unfriendly, George excluded. I suspect a management issue, when I ventured inside the staff's foul mood extended to the kitchen.
They reserve too many tables too far in advance, we were one of three tables with people, all others were reserved. Our table was booked just under 2 hours from our arrival and they told us we only had one hour to eat, then rushed us through. Even with a nearly empty restaurant, they had to turn people away. It would be much smarter to keep a few tables open for walk ins... but they can run their business how they like. And they are content floating on the bare minimum, relying on a fresh wave of tourists.
But the location... Absolutely gorgeous. Well worth coming here for a drink and the view. +2 stars for the view.

Lovely setting! We were given a table despite the whole place being booked out (every table had a reserved sign on it) and the food did not disappoint! Fresh fish of the day, grilled to perfection on an open flame visible to guests, washed down with delicious wine and cocktails. The Algar Seco karst cliffs provide lovely photo opportunities in the warm glow of the setting sun between courses, or after the bill is paid. Oh, and the purists will appreciate the refreshing lack of WiFi or a strong cell signal. Talk to each other for a change! ;-)

Cadre incroyable, restaurant perché au milieu des falaises, service international, mais d'une lenteur incompréhensible, surtout que nous sommes arrivée bien après le rush.
Côté tarif, on est dans le haut du Portugal, entre 15 et 30€ le plat.
Côté publique, c'est fréquenté par des espagnols et des anglais,c'est très très bruyant.
Les plats sont bons, les poissons très bien cuits au feu.
En revanche, pour les menus enfants, il ne faut pas avoir très fin, c'est très léger.
Pour manger dans ce cadre, on est prêt à pardonner beaucoup.

Service was poor!
Arrived sat at table for 15 minutes before being served, but that was after I had to get the attention of one of the waiters, which didn't seem interested in wanting to serve us, even though the restaurant wasn't very busy.
Food however was good.
Team there need to pay people who walk in from the street with as much attention as those who have reserved a table.

Gutes Fischrestaurant in toller Atmosphäre.
Direkt in der Grotte Algar Seco gelegen isst man hier zwischen Felsen und Meer.
Die Karte umfasst übliche Gerichte wie Piri Piri und Hamburger, aber vor allem Fisch.
Da dieser Fisch doch relativ teuer ist (z.B. Dorade 26€, Thunfisch 19 €), kann man einiges erwarten. Diese Erwartungen werden meiner Meinung nicht ganz erfüllt. Die Beilagen sind etwas lieblos, nicht alle Fische sind perfekt gegrillt. Aufgrund der tollen Atmosphäre trotzdem zu empfehlen.

Worth a walk or drive to. Lovely little bar on the cliff, large outdoor seating area under large canopies. We didn't have any food , but it looked and smelt great. We had a few drinks and soaked up the rekaxing atmosphere. Prices were reasonable and worth it. A scramble on the rocks afterwards was fun and you can also climb down into the sea from one part or jump from a specific area if you are brave.

Wir hatten eine nette Bedienung, dass Essen ist zwar etwas teurer, aber hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Alle 4 Hauptgänge kamen nahezu zeitgleich.

Came in at the same time with a group of 6 people, who were perhaps inspired enough to order when they got the menus. We waited more than 20 minutes to have our order taken. As this did not happen, we left, therefore cannot say anything about the food, which may be good compared to the quality of the service, which leaves to desire.

This place is shameful is terms of cocktails! We ordered a Pina colada and a pisco sour, it was nowhere near a Pina nor a pisco. Pina was full of sugar, pisco was with ice, no eggs and no bitters. We complained about the pina so they made another one for us, which is more or less the same as the first one.

Endroit surprenant pour un resto en plein aire en bord de plage. Magie et amour pour un repas aux petites lumières avec le ressac de la mer comme fond sonore. Spécialités les grillades de viandes ou de poissons. Réserver. Un très grand et long escalier vous descend au restaurant.

Cannot recommend this place. We had to wait a 30 minutes for our main course. Our starters arrived after this. Then we discovered that our chicken was burned and ribs were dry. But the view was nice.

Ein tolles Restaurant in einer tollen Kulisse.
Hier gibt es typisch portugiesische Küche vom Grill. Sehr lecker.
Ein Besuch in der Boneca Bar ist auf jeden Fall sehr zu empfehlen und eigentlich auch ein "Muss" , wenn man in Cavoeiro Urlaub macht.

Absolutely brilliant place to dine. A little pricey but superb & well cooked meals in a very unusual setting, nestled in the cliffs above the sea. Friendly staff & very good service. Pity it's so far away. We'd love to go there more often than just a holiday visit to the Algarve.

Not a good experience at all. One of the worst restaurants I have ever been to in Portugal. As a Portuguese person I would say that it is just to fool tourists. Over priced. The quality was very poor, the quantity terrible and the service just as bad. I honestly don't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I went there with my mother, sister and children. It was a superb experience. We had four types of grilled fish, wich was well made with fresh fish. The waiter suggested a white wine, that made the meal complete. The staff was kind, efficient and payed attention. They played musical suitable for the place. But the best thing about the the restaurant is, that it is placed between cliffs on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. The view is absolutely stunning. If you are in the area, it is defenetly worth a visit.

Ich kenne das Restaurant seit Jahren, aber der Service ist völlig gestresst und überfordert, und das alles bei gestiegenen Preisen. Wir sind gestern Abend um 21.35 angekommen. Nachdem wir 10 Minuten gewartet haben, bis endlich jemand kam, wurden uns die Speisekarten mit genervtem Blick auf den Tisch geknallt und uns gesagt, wir sollen schnell bestellen, weil bis 22:00 das letzte Essen die Küche verlassen müsste. Dann kam aber niemand mehr, um unsere Bestellung aufzunehmen, obwohl wir auf uns aufmerksam gemacht haben. Wir sind dann irgendwann gegangen.

Servicio pésimo. Tras más de 15 minutos esperando a ser atendida en barra, ninguno de los camareros se digno a atendernos. Dos de ellos se encontraban la barra tratando de arreglar un TPV, otro preparando cócteles (bien) y otros dos mirando desde dentro más entretenidos en jugar entre ellos (se trataba de un chico y una chica) que en ofrecer un servicio a las personas que esperábamos ser atendidas. La gallina de oro se acaba rompiendo, no solo por tener buen sitio va la gente cuando en el Algarve hay miles.

Vriendelijke bediening die helaas het terras niet in de macht hadden.
Voorgerecht was ok en zeker de meloen met ham was oogstrelend.
Hoofdgerecht was lekker maar groentes ontbraken op een klein beetje rauwkost na
Toilet voorziening onvoldoende.

Carissimo "Un caffè al banco lo hanno fatto pagare 1,50 €" contro il prezzo base di 0,65€ , nonché quello medio ad Alvor ed a Praia da Rocha a Portimao 0,80 però seduto a tavolino.
Immagino via faranno pagare per un pranzo oppure una cena!!!!!

Vanwege foto's en recensies stond deze restaurant bij ons op (the place to visit in Algarve). Foto liegen niet over het mooie/romantische uitzicht, eten is totaal niet bijzonder. Service was slecht. Prijs kwaliteit is belachelijk. Wisselgeld kreeg je zelfs niet terug je moest er om vragen.

Really gone downhill over the last couple of years. Service has become really slow, constantly having to get their attention as we felt pretty much ignored. Had tuna one night and it was very nice, second night we had two very overcooked/overseasoned tuna steaks which were an ordeal to chew through. The fish portions are good, but if you're hungry you might need extra sides (literally came with 2 new potatoes or a small handful of fries). Good for a drink, but don't think we'll be back for food - service is too frustrating. They seemed rushed so could do with more staff in my opinion.

Ce bar/restaurant est situé en contre bas dans les rochers. Le cadre est magnifique, on y mange bien, il y a du bon poisson, le personnel souriant et toujours au top.
Possibilité de se baigner à proximité dans une 'piscine' naturelle.
On oublie tout à la Boneca, tellement on s'y sens bien et que le lieu est unique.
A tel point que j'y ai fêté mes 40 ans avec toute ma famille.
A recommander !

Der eine Stern ist definitiv für die Lage und die Aussicht. Die Pommes und der Service waren heute eine Katastrophe .. Die pommes waren wohl abgezählt und auf jeden Fall dem Preis nicht angemessen - bei zwei von vier Portionen waren die Fritten kalt. Der erste service Mitarbeiter kannte die Preise nicht - die zweite Kollegin beim Servieren hatte dann den Mund in der Küche vergessen - der dritte hauchte dann mal im vorbei gehen zum Nachbartisch den Preis unserer Rechnung zu uns. Als wir dann bezahlt haben wurde uns das Rückgeld ausschließlich in 10 & 20 Cent Stücken zum Tisch gebracht - kurz und knapp : wir waren enttäuscht!

Es un restaurante con uno de los peores servicios que he recibido en mi vida. La gran mayoría de las mesas se encuentran al sol y no permiten alterar la posición de las misma para poder situarte debajo de las pequeñas zonas de sobra que ofrece su pésimo toldo.
Al intentar cambiar la posición de una de las mesas para situarla a la sombra, nos obligaron a colocarla en su posición original(al sol) invitándonos indirectamente a marcharnos.
Además el precio es excesivo. Un plato de 6 sardinas 14€.

Allein die wunderschöne Lage der Bar/Restaurant ist schon 5 Sterne wert. Dazu kommen ein freundlicher, mehrsprachiger Service, leckeres Essen und die leckersten Gin Tonics meines Lebens. Und wer gerne mal eine Maß trinkt, dem wird auch stilecht geholfen, wie ich am Nachbartisch sehen konnte. Einen tollen Aussichtspunkt gibts kostenlos on top.
