Simpatia e disponibilidade para ajudar

This was my first time entering a Portuguese pharmacy since moving here in July. I walked in and saw one customer ahead of me. I waited through their long discussion, and then several others walked in. I didn’t know that pharmacies here have a number system and I didn’t take one. When another pharmacist walked out I went toward the counter, but then she called a number. When I realized what happened and the guy behind me looked surprised, I said, “I didn’t get a number” to which she said, “Then you should’ve gotten one.” She (Filipa, I think) was very rude to me. I do speak Portuguese (after living in Brazil for 3 years prior-where the pharmacies did NOT have a number system), but I didn’t bother since she was already treating me like a stupid foreigner. Turns out this highly rated pharmacy doesn’t take foreign credit cards either... I’m finding that a lot here. I don’t understand how a European country (which I thought would more advanced than Brazil) seems so behind on many things. I won’t be returning to this pharmacy, but that’s ok, because we’re moving to a different location in Lisbon next month.

Continuem o bom trabalho. Já quando era pequeno(há 60 anos) o melhor conselheiro era o farmaceutico. As vezes até em coisas fora da saúde.
