Stopped by here looking for a nightcap. It seemed overpriced and not what we were looking for; having looked at the menu we decided to try elsewhere. One of the members of staff followed us onto the street and was needlessly rude. If we weren't going to get a drink here before, we certainly won't be now.

Super great experience!!!! As recommended on google we booked our table and you have to! book your evening too, you are gonna stay several hours. 16people max as the place is small. The team is very nice, they also speak english and french but the boss is the reason to go to this wine bar. He is passionate by portuguese wines and explains each bottle with his heart. That’s why it takes time (and can be slow...) He does a selection for you, makes you try each (even if he selected 3 bottles for you!) and you do your choice of glass or bottle. the team also prepares very good plates of cheese and ham. Great selection with good and surprising tastes. Loved it!!
Prices for wines are great, plates maybe a little expensive but it worth it!!!!
Loved our evening is this wine bar, it was perfect. We would love to find a place like this at home (Paris) or in any capitale/city in the countries we visit/live.

When we first visited, we were kindly asked to come back later and make a reservation. We came back 2 days later and were not disappointed.
We wanted to know more about portugese wine. The owner and kitchen staff made us feel at home and were extremely friendly and professional. We ordered some cheese and meat. Very good quality. Then came the wine. first... tasting and explanation. Together with the owner we made a small journey through Portugal. All the wine was suberb! We where extremely happy and stayed as long as possible. Eventually they had to close. Thank you BA whine bar for this educational tasting evening. Till next year.

You must go here!!! Book it before you visit Lisbon and go early in the week so that they can teach you about Portuguese wine. The host was amazing, knowledgable and generous. We had the port flight to finish and it was amazing

This place is great! We popped in for a drink whilst waiting for a table at a nearby restaurant. The interiors are impressive and we loved the counter seating. It was a shame we were eating somewhere else as the meat boards and main dishes looked divine. Would go for food next time I’m here. Definitely recommend if you love wine and you’re in the area!

Service is quirky, but all well-intended for a pleasant dining experience. My suggestion is to go with the experience for what it is because we were served some of the best Portuguese wine & cheese in over a month of eating & drinking our way through Portugal.

Super restaurant, pour tous les amateurs de vins c’est l'endroit rêvé ! On y mange que des produits locaux et hyper bon (on a choisi l’assiette de fromage et de charcuterie pour 2 personnes un délice !). Le serveur connaît sa carte sur le bout des doigts et est passionné. Je recommande les yeux fermés !

Very attentive patient service. Huge selection. Great way to get an education of Português wine. Only reason why 4 versus 5 stars is that stylistically it’s not my perfect place. They did absolutely everything right! No issues at all. Just personal preference.

Best place for trying all types pf wines from entire Lisbon. The staff is very dedicated and knows all types of wines. You just have to tell them what kind of wine you would like to drink and they will bring you delicious wines to taste and choose the perfect one that matches your tastes! Also they will know to recommend you the starters you need for each wine. There is pure passion for wine, not only a bar! Thank you, guys!

After traveling through almost all Europe, I found in Ba Wine Bar a place that offers a Supreme trip through all the amazing different strains of wine that Portugal offers.
The service was amazing, the level of knowledge and detail of the food and wine was extraordinary. After having this experience (the best until today) I strongly recommend a visit to Ba Wine Bar.

My Girlfriend and I didnt have reservations for BA wine bar but the owners where more than accommodating. We were seated immediately and provided with a tour of Portuguese wine. The sausages and Olives were delicious and the wine was some of the best we've tasted world wide.
We're both frequent international travelers from the US and can honestly say we look forward to returning to this great establishment.

Si vous cherchez un bar à vin intimiste où l'on prend le temps de vous expliquer les vins portugais dans votre langue (le patron en parle 5) c'est le bon endroit.

What a hidden gem of a wine bar. We found this by chance on our first night in Lisbon. Daniel and his wife Susana were amazing hosts. Daniel's knowledge of wine is most impressive. He was patient, informative, and paired the perfect wine with our charcuterie plate. This is a quaint restaurant where you receive more personalized attention and they only serve cold plates, which may not be for everyone, but we loved it so much that we returned here again on our last night in Lisbon to revisit.

Incredible experience all around. If you're looking for a relaxed way to spend a few hours (seriously, our group of 4 spent 4 hours here the evening we went), while learning about Portuguese wines and enjoying local cheeses and meats, in a low key environment, this is the place to do it. Book a reservation a few weeks in advance, because they only do a few seating per night (only about 4 tables and only a few seatings per night, because you will spend at least 2 hours there if not longer). We booked a reservation via email in advance with a deposit, and were treated so kindly by the owners/staff. They have a small team - just the one sommelier/wine expert/wine server, and a couple others who handle more of the food and service, which makes it a super warm and family-like environment.
Prices are super affordable, and you can choose from any regions or types of wine you like, and customize the experience to what you're in the mood for.
Highly recommend ordering a cheese and sausage platter, bread and olive oils and jams, and make sure you try the black pig sausage! This is not a place to go for a full meal, but you can fill up pretty easily on the meats and cheeses with your wines. Everything is locally sourced and delicious!

This is such a gem! This amazing little place is tucked away, but if you want a gentle evening full of amazing and unusual wine as well equally amazing and unusual cheese then I cannot recommend it enough!
The staff are friendly and clearly very passionate and knowledgeable about wine. We tried local specialties we didn't even know existed as well as amazing sweet wines and some of the most memorable cheese I have tasted in Portugal.

Wow. 100% nailed it. Go here. Staff is amazing (Rui was very knowledgeable and very kind). Everyone was patient and welcoming. They were understaffed when we experienced the place but it didn't take anything away from our experience. I can't give a higher praise for the staff so now to the food and wine.
Food was amazing. The chucuterie for 4 was all amazing and displayed very nicely. Rui also nailed it with our wine tastes and even if you have a tough time describing what you like in a wine he will get it out of you and assist you in everyway.
The port taster was also very delicious. If in Lisbon again I will 100% go again.

Really enjoyed this spot! The staff was super friendly and extremely knowledgeable about wine. Since we knew nothing about Portuguese wine, we just told them what we liked and they brought us wine to try and pick from - helpful since there was easily 500 to pick from. I got the feeling that's what they prefer to do, as well.
We ordered the olive oil trio, small cheese plate, the bread sausage and mackerel - all delicious and we were extremely full by the end. It's not a cheap night out from a Portuguese standpoint (food plus two glasses of wine each was about 70€) but we felt like it was worth it.
Lastly, make a reservation online if possible as you're extremely unlikely to be able to get in same-day without it. it only has about 6 tables and they were all reserved when we went. we were able to squeeze in with a reservation the following night from when we stopped by.

If you want a glass of wine and a meandering tale about its origins then this is brilliant, but if you want to chill with a glass of wine then try somewhere else.

My wife and I have enjoyed a wonderful evening of wine tasting here . The level of service is incomparable. The selections of wines is extensive, and surpassed only by the level of knowledge of the owner/sommelier. His enthusiasm is infectious. We look forward to returning on our next visit to Lisbon. Un passage obligé, si vous passez sur Lisbonne et que vous êtes amateurs de vins !! Le propriétaire, un homme attentionné et passionné, vous embarquera dans une très riche découverte des vins du Portugal, issus de petits producteurs et selon vos goûts (qu'il saura parfaitement discerner en quelques questions). Cerise sur le gâteau : les fromages et la charcuterie sont excellents, de même que les conserves de poisson artisanales. Tout pour passer un excellent moment !! Foncez, vous ne le regretterez pas...

Described in one word: wonderful!
The selection of wines covers an incredible variety of all kinds of Portuguese wines. Thankfully, we received a lot of helpful advise in picking the ones that fit our taste. They really take their time to listen to your preferences and figure out how they might best serve them. Tasting a few wines from one kind is free until you decide which one to drink (which is really generous, considering that they will open some bottles just for you...). Prices for the wines are fair, any wine is available by glass or bottle. All of this is accompanied by interesting and fun conversations with the extremely dedicated owners. Oh, and besides that, they serve tasting boards with some of the best cheeses and hams I've eaten so far.
Having said that, make sure to book a table in advance as they're a small place. Also, take your time, as they also take their time to provide you with the best service you can possibly get in a wine bar.

Asoziale Mitarbeiter. Ich kann verstehen, dass es hier oft voll und kein Platz frei ist. Meine lediglich fragende Freundin mit einem einfachen „Sorry“ wortwörtlich aus der Tür auf die Straße zu schubsen, ist eine Unverschämtheit. Ein falscher Tritt und sie wäre auf die Straße gefallen.
Sowas habe ich in meinem Leben noch nicht erlebt. Wer freundlichen Service sucht findet weiter südlich was Besseres. Ich arbeite selber mit einem Gastronomen zusammen und bin etwas schockiert, wie man hier Gäste behandelt die freundlich nach einem Platz fragen.
PS: Die Antwort vom Eigentümer hier setzt noch einen drauf. Eine Unterstellung, dass man kein „Nein“ akzeptieren könne, anstelle eine Entschuldigung, dass man körperlich gegenüber Gästen wird. Und mit 27 Jahren brauche ich mir keinen Spruch anhören, ob ich alt genug für Weintrinken wäre.

Ich wurde in diese schnuckelige Weinbar ausgeführt und bin sehr dankbar dafür. Sehr schön gelegen zwischen den Gassen des barrio alto. Man wird herzlich empfangen und wird sofort nach Zuweisung eines Tisches mit dem Konzept vertraut gemacht. Da wir uns mit portugiesischen Weinen so gar nicht auskennen, haben wir grob angegeben in welche Richtung es gehen soll. Uns wurden 4 Rotweine zum probieren angeboten, bei denen wir uns für zwei entschieden. Das Personal spricht mehrere Sprachen und kann somit beinahe jeden Gast zufrieden stellen. Zum Wein haben wir uns eine Käse und Wurstauswahl bestellt. Ein rundum gelungener Abend. Einen Punkt Abzug gibt es für die kühle Temperatur im Lokal und den nicht ganz so vorzüglichen Käse.

Nous avons mangé un soir dans ce petit restaurant, à l'ambiance très intimiste. Nous avons eu à faire à des passionnés de vins et de produits locaux... Intarissables sur l'histoire et l'origine des produits, ils vous feront découvrir et choisir après dégustation ( chose assez rare à ce niveau de tarif) parmi leurs produits. Vous pouvez y aller les yeux fermés, ils sauront vous conseiller dans plusieurs langues dans la plus grande sympathie.

A place to be - take enough time and enjoy delicious food and wines from Portugal
Can absolutely be recommended. Small and cosy place, with 2 owners with a lot of passion for food and wines. - We spent there 4 hours an evening. They always let you taste from 3 different wines and you decide from which one you prefer to have a glass of it. The wines should be drunk with some additional finger food (Tapas). - Just delicious. And the 2 owners seems to be lovely and with a lot of enthusiasm. Thump up! And reservations might be recommended, since there are only about 20 seats.

The service here is exceptional and the staff know their wine. With so many wines it becomes overwhelming but the host will help you pick by bring two bottles to your table for your chosen wine variety and price range and then you can taste the two and pick which one you would like a glass of. We had a platter of cheese to go with our wine which complimented our wine to perfection. Highly recommend this as a place- either to start or finish your night.

Wir waren gestern Abend ohne Reservierung dort und haben glücklicherweise noch einen Platz bekommen. Wir bestellten uns eine Platte mit lokalen Köstlichkeiten wie Schinken, Käse und Oliven. Eine kleine Überraschung war die köstliche Paprikamarmelade zum Käse - sehr fein! Direkt nach der Bestellung suchte uns der Inhaber und seine Frau drei dazu passende Weißweine - sehr junge und moderne grüne Weine aus Portugal die sie auf die Fragen hin für uns gesucht hatten. Mit sehr viel Leidenschaft wurden uns die Weine präsentiert und die Geschichte dazu näher gebracht. Wir haben uns dann für zwei Gläser von zwei der Weine entschieden, die beide sehr unterschiedlich waren aber sehr gut zum Essen gepasst haben. Recht zur Nachspeise bestehend aus 4 lokalen Kuchenspezialitäten kam wieder der Charme und Witz des Someliers zum Einsatz mit den Portweinen - der Wahnsinn! Der Abend war für uns in der familiären und netten Stimmung sehr kurzweilig und würden wegen dem Service, den Weinen und auf dem Essen wieder kommen. Allerdings ein bisschen teurer als andere Lokalitäten in der Gegend (aber man bekommt dafür ein anderes Niveau).

I can't even begin to describe how amazing this place is. I have never experienced such passionate and kind service. The staff absolutely know their wine and offer you tastings of whatever you like so that you can decide what you're going to have. This is then complimented with assorted cheeses and cured meats, or sardines if you feel so inclined. Very reasonably priced as well.
I can't wait to come back here on my next trip to Lisbon. I would give this place 6 stars if I could!

Am I missing something?
Due to overwhelming reviews on here and tripadvisor, I expected more. Ham and cheese were great but I already had better ones at other places on my tour today :( wine was good but not anything special.
Atomosphere isnt local either. People are very friendly and I liked it but it does not deserve 5 star.

If you are wine lovers, this is the best place in Lisbon to taste a wide range of local wines, form all over Portugal. A very nice and kind lady will let you discover the country through wines and typical Portuguese charcuterie. My hubby and I took a plate for two of different kind of cured ham, cheeses (such as goat, sheep and cow cheeses), red pepper and pumpkin and cinnamon jams and extravirgin olive oil. Absolutely in heaven!!

Nous avons adoré cet endroit.
Apres nous avoir demandé le style de vin que nous aimions, on nous en a fait goûté 3.
Les 3 étaient excellents. Les conseils et les explications ont été très utiles !
Nous avons aussi goûté un assortiment de fromage et charcuterie, très bon.
Attention il faut réserver sinon vous risquez de ne pas trouver de places !
Je recommande vivement ce bar à vin !

Die Preise sind zwar im Verhältnis zum Einkaufspreis nicht gerade günstig, aber es wird mehr als nur kompensiert mir dem erstklassigen und profunden Fachwissen der Bedienung. Wir dürften drei Weine probieren und entschieden uns dann für einen. Obwohl anfänglich alle Tische reserviert waren, durften wir doch noch eine Stund drin verweilen und nahmen dazu eine Fleisch- und Käseplatte. Absolut empfehlenswert für Weinliebhaber!

The lady sommelier was very competent and made us want to explore more and more of Portugese wines. The owner added a warm, homey and cordial atmosphere. The wine and cheese selection was awsome. If you want to get a taste of Portugese wine and cheese in a nutshell, this is definitely the place to go.

A fantastic place! The lady who was explaining the wines is amazing - she is so knowledgeable about the wines and explains everything in such a way, I could listen to her all night. The wines and ports we tried were great. Overall - I'm glad I was recommended to go there. Make sure you make a reservation - the place is quite small and gets fully booked.

Probably wise to book during busy periods. The staff enquire after your taste in wines and then let you taste three which they recommend based on your description. Don't forget to leave time for porto!

I had been recommended this place by a local. Unfortunately, as being told, the place is so small you have to be lucky to have a seat if you haven't reserved. This indicate to me that this a very good destination for wine sampling and try some local cheese and meat. I will have to stop by again! The lady who greeted me was very disappointed to try me down but very friendly and sincere.

A lovely, calm oasis in barrio alto. The staff were very friendly and helped us pick wines to drink. The cheese boards and sausages were original and tasty. They didn't rush us even though they were turning people away at the door. Great place for a meal in Lisbon and quite reasonably priced for what you get.

Great food (local cheeses and charcuteries) and wine experience (Portuguese wines from small producers). Carla is a passionate sommelier who will let you taste at least 4 bottles before you choose which glass of wine you'd like to drink.

Accueil impeccable, même en français si on le désire.
Les choix de vins sont impressionnants, le tout accompagné de bonnes charcuteries, fromages, sardines ou autres conserves de poissons.
Le tout pour un prix démocratique, incontournable à Lisbonne si vous passez par le Bairro Alto.
Pensez à réserver, sinon vous n'aurez assurément pas de table libre à votre arrivée.

Amazing place. I believe we were served by the owner or GM, who was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. We slipped in right around 6:00pm with no reservation, and although all the tables were reserved, some were for later on, and we were kindly accommodated, and not rushed at all. The concept is great, honestly I left thinking "this is how all wine bars should be". All of the wines we had were incredible, and actually she'll bring you approximately three bottles a person per glass ordered to taste, and you pick your favourite. So you both get to try a bunch of different wines, and then have a glass of your favourite. The olive oil taster was super cool. Not the cheapest, but worth every penny. Make a reservation though; as far I could tell they were booked solid Fri, Sat, Sun, and several people were turned away while we were there. Really got lucky with this one.

Awesome wine bar. Highly recommend. The staff was friendly, spoke great English and was very knowledgable about Portuguese wines. I love to try many different varieties, as you are able to do here. Great canned seafood, selection of meats and cheeses.

Very nice restaurant. We don't see that many Portuguese wines in the Netherlands so we completely relied on the staffs advice. Fortunately they do not only know a lot about their wines, but you are also allowed to taste their advice to choose the wine you like best. The charcuterie, fish and cheese that accompany the wine are also excellent. This was our first day in Lisbon, but they set a high standard.

Muy recomendable si estás visitando la ciudad y quieres conocer los vinos de la tierra. Los dueños hacen que sea toda una experiencia vinatera y el trato es superior. Nos sorprendió su facilidad para hablar varios idiomas, allí no es una barrera. Tienen una buena carta de tapas frías para acompañar. El sitio muy coqueto y situado en pleno centro lisboeta.

So good, highly recommend though you might want to have a bit of food before you go or perhaps after as it is limited tapas. still, they know their stuff and are incredibly lovely and helpful so definitely somewhere to try when you come to Lisbon.

We booked the BA Wine Bar (we had the whole place to ourselves) for a meal on a recent stag weekend in Lisbon. The atmosphere in the wine bar is great, and the food and wine were exceptional, simple but delicious examples of traditionally produced local specialities. The whole group (15 of us) thoroughly enjoyed it, we had plates of meat and cheese, breads, olives, and even some of grandma's cake. Everything was paired with delicious wine, and we had a choice of paring for each course. The best part of the experience was the genuine passion, care, and enthusiasm displayed by Rui and the rest of the wonderful team at BA Wine Bar. Cost per head was just over 30Euros, a bargain, and a highly recommended venue for couples and groups of all sizes. Many thanks.

Unforgettable experience ... Our most excellent and knowledgeable host took care in presenting and explaining to us the different Portuguese wines from various regions. Basically we were taken on a wine tour of Portugal while seated in a warm and inviting atmosphere. We would highly recommend anyone who enjoys wine to go for a tasting, but don't forget to make a reservation as this place fills up quickly.
