Very quick and comfortable handling. I got an offer within a day after I write the initial email. When arriving at the airport in Faro you are not ushered off in a van to an off-airport company, but they bring the car to you. I only waited around 5 minutes and the lady at the desk was very polite and helpful. Didn’t get charged extra for gas or anything extra I didn’t want. Also very easy when I brought the car back. Absolutely would book again with travelrent.

Just used travelrent for the second time, excellent speedy service. Good little car, Micra, quite a few miles on the clock and a few scratches but went well. Returning car was very easy too. No queues either time. Did this through Zest and would use them again without hesitation.

I contacted Travel Rent directly via email and they responded rather quickly. I had been let down by major company brands due to not having a credit card, although I do hire cars and vans in the UK. Apparently, the terms work differently in Europe. Anyway, I did have a funny feeling due to their very basic website, however after seeing some reviews here, I thought I would chance them. All my communication was via email, so that I had a record of conversations, I paid a refundable cash deposit and to be on the safe side avoiding giving out my card details, I paid what I was quoted for in cash. What major brands do not tell you is that there is an airport tax and a motorway toll tax, of which you need a device for, all this was taken care of by Travel Rent. My many years experience of hiring cars, whether its from Avis or any unknown company, do your own inspection of the vehicle before setting off, or if it is at night, tell the agent that at first light you will conduct an inspection, if you find any unrecorded markings you'll note them down, use your camera/phone to note anything and make sure the time stamp is visible also before driving off, take a photo of the dash when the engine is running, this records your fuel, mileage etc and do the same when you park back. With Travel Rent, because it was an early departure for me, I showed them my full tank photo, which also showed the time taken and that was good enough to get my deposit back. I recommend them and will defiantly will be using them again.

SCAM SCAM SCAM!! AVOID! We were already in Portugal when we decided to hire a car, I've called the number and was given a price offer of £50 if i pay card or £40 if I pay cash. when i asked about insurance i was told it is only the basic and they don't do add ons. I got to the airport (P4), asked if they have a car, the woman said yes, and quoted me £150 including full insurance but I must pay cash. as we were walking to the cash point my scam alert started ringing in my head (what company doesn't take card)?! I went back with the cash and said I was a bit confused as i was quoted £40 this morning, she said it must have been with an agent. i said no, it was with your company, and showed her the number and the website. (she and her colleague kept speaking in portuguese) eventually she called the number, and after whispering to her friend said to me: 'You can have the car for £50 but you can't get any insurance'. what car company doesn't give insurance?! I said we will pay the higher price with the insurance but at that point they said they actually have no cars!? though 2 min ago they had plenty of cars. This is clearly a scam. i hardly EVER give 1 stars reviews but this is diabolical! AVOID!!!!

Aangekomen op de luchthaven was er niemand bij de auto verhuur alleen op P4 en was zeggen en schrijven een iemand die nog een auto voor ons had En dat hebben wij geweten de enige mogelijkheid om een auto te huren was voor 270 euro voor zes dagen wat normaal gesproken zal rond de € 150 moet kosten We konden alleen contant betalen kregen geen betalingsbewijs en het bedrag werd ook niet op de huurovereenkomst gezet . Ga hier nooit een auto huren het zijn gewoon boeven

We collected our hire car as arranged, and it was shown on the paperwork that the car had 3/4 tank of fuel. I agree that the paperwork matched the fuel gauge on collection. On return to the airport, the fuel gauge had dropped to approx half a tank, so on the way to drop the car back off again, we stopped to put in fuel to return the car as we had received it, with 3/4 tank of petrol. We had not needed to put fuel in any earlier during the week, as we had not used that much fuel. The fuel gauge would not reach right up to the 3/4 mark, it was just slightly below, so we kept putting fuel in. We actually ended up filling the tank, we literally could not put any more fuel in the tank, it was coming out of the tank, still the fuel gauge was showing slightly below the 3/4 mark. We returned the car and told the rep, he said it was because we had not taken the key card out of the ignition. Now I do not believe that to be the case. I can't get the ignition to come on to show the fuel level without putting the key card into the slot. We said we had ended up filling the car up with fuel, and we had therefore spent more than needed on fuel. He just repeated the thing about the key card, and the other guy with him just shrugged and said it's not a problem. We pointed out that it's not a problem for them, its a problem for us as we have just put 58.50 into the tank, and it should have been a lot less. We are not at all happy with this. I have googled 'clio fuel gauge stuck' since we got back, and it seems to be a problem with some cars, nothing at all related to having the key card in the slot, which it seems was just an excuse. We complained to Zest. They contacted Travel Rent. They refunded us part of the monies for the fuel. I don't think they treated us well.

Have used Travelrent many times and never had any issues with them at all. The cars tend to be 12-24 months old but always clean. In peak season there’s often the odd scrape or minor dent but they aren’t precious about the car and usually just have a look for significant damage. I’ve had to issues during rental, one two wheels were damaged by a pot hole and both tyres went flat. They sent a pick up within 45 mins, took us to a garage and had us back on the road within an hour. Brilliant service.

I couldn't really fault the service I had from TravelRent. Collection at Faro was quick and easy, once I located them. Protip: they're in a small office out in Car Park 4 - not where all the major rental agencies are located and where the signage points you. Turn left out of the door at arrivals and walk over the road for 1-2 mins. Don't be a chump and go the wrong way like I did. There may be a small queue but they don't keep you waiting long and the car is brought round behind the office for you to drive away immediately. Unlike some airports, where you walk half a mile with your keys, notice a scratch that isn't on the inventory and have a long trek back to query it, they are right near the car and pretty relaxed about most minor scuffs. A fellow regular customer told me this was the case and so it proved. The car we were advertised on the aggregator was a Seat Ibiza station wagon or equivalent and we were given a Renault Clio SW - yes, they exist and they're pretty functional and practical. The key for us was getting an estate because we travelled as a four and the size was fine for our purposes. If I'm being pedantic the gearbox was terrible, it was a bit underpowered going uphill on highways in the north when fully laden and the air con wasn't great if you were in the back but it was adequate and in good condition. Any performance issues lay with Renault to be honest, not TravelRent. I'm pleased to report that they didn't pressure sell insurance or even mention it because I brought up that I alreayd had a policy. I've never really had trouble with this but some agencies can be really aggressive with it. Portugal has tolls on the highways and we ere offered a box for €20 to allow us to use toll roads without payment at the gate. This fee is deducated from your total toll fees or presumably refunded if you use less than €20. My total came to €90 for the whole trip and the outstanding was charged to my card and I was handed a receipt as I dropped the car back. Hassle-free option that I would recommend if you'll do a lot of driving. Just be aware that you'll need €15 in cash to pay for the location surcharge, which a local tax not set by the rental agencies. Apparently this can't be done on card but I had some currency on me and I had already read about this, so it didn't come as a surprise. Drop-off in Car Park 1 on our return was very quick and straightforward with the most basic of checks for signs of major visible damage and a check on fuel level (they have a return at same leve rather than full to full policy it seems) and we were away. Very easy all round - recommended and would use them again.

Used them a couple of times after being scared off other companies by the 'damage trick' reviews. Thank goodness, Travel Rent were amazing. Easy access at airport, fast, efficient, friendly. Same for dropoff. Guy did quick look round car, said 'it's all fine', refunded my deposit. Was sad to hand the car back, they had given me what looked like a nearly-new Clio, was amazing to drive. Another company before had given me an older VW Polo, was ok but not as good. I WILL KEEP COMING BACK AND BACK AND BACK TO YOU TRAVEL RENT! Very respectable company.

It certainly isnt 10 mins fom terminal - more like 2 min. Fast efficient service, easy drop off at end. Did try to charge me extra €20 for motorway toll, in the end the member of staff settled for €10 as i had done quite a few miles up and down the motorway for various reasons. Good very competitive prices

We booked a TravelRent car at Faro airport July 2017 through a UK broker, Zest car rental. The small office at Faro airport is 10 minutes from the main building and we pushed our trolleys there, at the top of car park 4. The office is shared with other firms and was very busy but the TravelRent lady was super-efficient and we only waited 10 mins and she multi-tasked about 4 things a once. The paperwork was all ready and took a mere 10 mins and we were given a brand new car for our 8 day hire. The terms of the hire included insurance and a free 2nd driver. The fuel was 1/4 full and we returned it the same. The car was immaculate and brand new and used very little fuel. We had no trouble with the security deposit as it was just blocked not taken off the credit card. We didn't prepay the toll meter and we just gave 20euros and owed another 5 at the end. There was breakdown cover. On return we took the car into a carpark right at the airport terminal entrance and the lady was there to meet us and we returned the car and walked away within 5 mins with no problems and the walk was 50 metres, nearer than the big rental firms. The other returning cars seemed to be new as well. I thought I had left my sunglasses and the lady called the team and the car was checked as it was now back at the depot. The whole experience was of a small independent, well-run, reliable car rental firm who know what they are doing. I will definitely use them and Zest again.

I have been robbed. I suppose to pay €25 but Mr Daniel put €40 on card machine and because we been busy before our flight we not checked the price properly on the screen. After 5 e mails to travel rent I received only one e mail back from Raquel saying " we give you money back". After 2 weeks I have no money and no "sorry" from them. I have been ignored. I can prove it - I have paperwork and receipt from them. Not recommended at all !!!'
