My fiancée and I took a beginner top rope course and were accompanied by the most knowledgable and professional guide I could ever have expected. He has bolted the routes himself in Bensafrim and made the experience very productive. We each climbed 4-5 different routes and the difficulty progression was just right. 60 per person for a private tour with pickup and drop off, all the gear , and a solid 4 hour session was a pretty good deal. I would try the Sagres level 2 area next time.

My wife and I booked a top rope beginner class with Volta do Mar and we have to admit that we were greatly impressed!! The theorical part was thorough but concise, from a brief history of climbing and safety to the different gear pieces available on the market and the rehearsal of the necessary moves and habits that top roping requires. They gave us note of what the theorical part covers and tens of very useful tips. The practical part was also great: a beautiful scenary and many routes available depending on your level. The core team is really fun, relaxed, will make you feel at ease and very serious when it comes to safety. I greatly recommend Volta do Mar if you need guidance while climbing in the region! I will visit them again!!

Had a lot of fun rock climbing and our guide, Ricardo, was very friendly and chill! If I ever come back to Portugal I’d love to try their other tours!

We booked a wine&bike tour, as well as 2 climbing trips. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable. The climbing destinations were awesome and you can bet to have their full attention as it’s more of a private tour. They have a nice touch with bringing freshly sqweezed orange juice, cookies, and melon. We had a lot of fun!

I went climbing with Andre last August (a bit late on the review). Having only climbed the Gunks before everything about the experience was new - the water, the views and the rock was so different! Our small group of strangers had a blast together and even though there were varying levels of experience on the trip Andres’ patience and smile made sure everyone was having fun! Andre went over and beyond, I would go on any adventure with Volta do Mar.

These guys are super friendly and fun to be around. Safety was also clearly a priority. They took us to two fantastic climbing locations and a couple great local lunch spots. I would highly recommend them and climbing in Portugal!

This should be the only rock climbing company you should use! Best service, awesome spots, friendly and funny staff and extremely trustworthy and honest.

Rock climbing with Andre and Ricardo was amazing! We visited 2 beautiful spots near Sagres, the second one was directly over the ocean. You'll be in good hands climbing with these guys--they know the area extremely well, being from this region, and have set all the bolts themselves to ensure safety. Highly recommend!

We booked on for a full day of rock climbing and had Ricardo take us to 2 different locations. He was awesome. Extremely knowledgeable about the surrounding area and made the day really enjoyable and relaxing. At the same time he very thorough with making sure everything was good for use, being used in the correct way and we were safe at all times! All the equipment you'd need is provided if you didn't bring your own. Snacks, fruits and juice are provided for the break's, and we were taken to a quiet local fish restaurant, which served some of the best seafood we had all of our trip at a very good price! (Thank you for taking us there ) There was different routes for all levels of climbers with picturesque views while ascending. All of the bolts (where we we're taken) had been changed by Ricardo himself through the quieter months, so we felt safe and reassured when giving lead a go in the afternoon! It was also nice to hear about all the work and effort they were putting into conserve the areas in which company would use, it feels great to know your not only paying for a days excursion but a percentage of it is being put back in to the national park. All in all a massive thanks for everything! We will be recommending you to anyone we know planning to go Lagos to climb, dive, cycle or snorkel. Keep up the good work and good luck in Yosemite

Can't say enough good things about our trip with our guide Pedro. We took the wine tour and stopped at 2 great places, and got a nice behind the scenes look. Pedro was pleasant and full of as much knowledge as the winemakers we met. He was also able to give us some great recommendations for local places to eat and see. If we find ourselves here again we will definitely be back to take a different tour with Volta do Mar again.

I had the pleasure of enjoying two adventures with Ricardo from VDM. The first excursion was the unique experience of climbing beside the Atlantic Ocean with spectacular views for 360 degrees and great rock for challenging climbs. This morning Ricardo worked with myself and my 6 and a half year old son top roping on several easy grade climbs and then pushed both for a 6a. We nearly solved the problem but will have to return in the future for more climbing in this beautiful country. Ricardo was excellent and provide some excellent snacks and great conversation and insight into other great spots around Lagos. We would highly recommend Volta do mar to all.

Just returned from a fantastic rock climbing experience in Sagres with Pedro! From the booking to the actual climb, these guys are slick and professional and provide a completely personal and tailored experience. They gave us lots of advise before we arrived and picked us up from our villa before and after. They even booked a restaurant for afterwards and offered to show us the sunset! We really were very impressed and highly recommend them!

great climbing company that offers amazing tours to spectacular rocks in the area! the guides are very experienced, helpful and have a good sense of humor! The organization of the trip was easy and we would book a tour with them any time again :)
