Worst service ever. Waiting for 1,5 hours already and I believe another 1 hour I have to wait more. Never faced this kind of experience before. If you’re traveling to Lisbon I’d rather recommend Hertz. No crowd at all.

Sehr schlechte Erfahrung bei Avis/Budget am Flughafen LIS, sehr lange Wartezeiten! Ich wartete über eine stunde um die Papiere zu machen, und als ich am Schalter fragte, ob es heute außergewöhnlich sei, sagte man: „nein, es ist jeden Tag so!“ Dann oben nochmal anstehen, um den Autoschlüssel zu bekommen, und gestern bei der Rückgabe gab‘s wieder eine ewig lange Schlange von Autos (begann schon außerhalb des Terminals!) um bis zu Avis/Budget vorzudringen! Also total überfordert oder zuwenig Platz oder zuwenig Staff... jedenfalls kann ich nur davon abraten, hier ein Auto zu mieten!

Horrible process to get a vehicle. Stay away. Arrived 1 hour after my pick up time, then had to take a ticket and wait another 1 hour just to see a attendant. Then they take another 30 minutes per customer! Leave yourself 2 hours to collect your car!!

Avoid!!! Very bad check in system they prioritise Avis over Budget. So for every one budget 3 Avis get through to the counter. Make sure even if you have booked budget to select “Avis” at the ticket print out box otherwise you will have to wait for over 2 hours!!

Несмотря на негативные комментарии решались таки бронировать у Баджет. В целом было все как всегда, я нормально отношусь к навязыванию услуг и допов. Отказаться очень легко. По возврату тоже проблем не было. В целом ок!

Voiture réservée et réglée via Ryanair De nouveau un contrat à lire sur tablette au comptoir,( ca prend 1 heure,il faut redonner tous les papiers officiels,cartes,permis etc)des explications vaseuses,on refuse tout autre assurance car réglé par Visa Prenier Obligée de signer à toute vitesse un contrat de 20 pages avec un type qui entoure en fluo des détails stupides Au retour:93€ d assurances à régler!!!!ou plutôt déjà débité!!!,puis 3 semaines après un débit de 30€ sans facture!!! Impossible de les joindre,ils ne répondent ni aux appels ni aux mails A FUIR

Reserved there because they had the best price. When we got to the counter, very long wait. The clerk was very dry, not welcoming but that's ok. Then she asked me if I wanted the tolls to be taken directly on my credit card for 2 € a day. I answered No, I will pay them as I go . She then asked me if I was going to Porto, I answered yes, and she told me that I would have to go to the post office to pay. I did not quite understand that part. She NEVER mentioned the electronic tolls and the fact that I could not pay directly as I passed through them. After looking up how it works, I realized that I have 5 days to pay the tolls. I believe that it is the rental car companies' responsibility to explain clearly what happens if you refuse to have them generate the fees on your credit card. She never mentioned anything about the electrobic tolls and all the trouble it would be to pay them after. She was in a rush and did not care. Bad service overall. On top of it, the insurance papers were expired. Also, the person next to me renting a GPS was paying around 200€ for a GPS. What a rip off! Buy one at this point or download the maps for offline use on you phone. It works great! Now I have been going back and forth with budget for the electronic toll and nobody is able to give me a clear answer. The car had a transponder, it beeped when I passed under the electronic toll, therefore the amount was debited from Budget's account. How in the world am I supposed to pay what I owe at the post office!!! The only positive thing I can say is that the man who physically gave us the car was very welcoming and nice.

Ils sont sympa à l'accueil mais c'est vraiment trop long (1h30 d'attente) pour obtenir la voiture qu'on a déjà réservée sur le Web, espérant gagner du temps à l'arrivée évidemment. Du coup, la location d'aprés, je suis allé chez une autre enseigne de loueur et dans les aéroports, ce n'est pas ce qu'il manque !

C'est des voleurs !!! Ils ont débité 40.- EUR sur ma Visa pour une assurance dépannage que j'ai clairement refusée au comptoir. Quand j'ai appelé le service client, ils disent que j'ai signé le contrat alors qu'il est en allemand et que le mec du comptoir m'a dit que c'était pour le pleins d'essence. Je vous déconseille clairement cette agence de location.

Total SCAM. First off... I waited for 3hrs with a toddler to receive my car. When I approached the counter the sign that people with children and disabilities had priority was hidden behind the counter in an obscure location. There were many families waiting with us. Also, the service rep scammed me into getting the full protection at ~$50 euros a day. He said that because I was staying in Lisbon that the drivers there would definitely bump into my car and scratch it... and that when I returned my car they mechanics would be sure to charge me for any damage. Even if I would have taken cheaper insurance I would still be liable for $2000 euros of damage. At that point I just wanted to get out of there so I took the insurance. AVOID this place at all cost. Even the staff was unprofessional... at the counter they had the nerve to tell people who were frustrated with them that they had been working all day... so, the fact that families who travelled overseas and were waiting for 3hrs don't matter, but we need to be concerned for staff who were working for 5-6 hours... wow.

Ja, aber. Wann immer ich in Lissabon bin und bei Budget/AVIS meinen Mietwagen abhole, bedeutet es mindestens 45 Minuten Wartezeit, bis der Mietwagen übernommen werden kann. Nummer ziehen und warten. Ein durchschnittlicher Bearbeitungsprozess für eine Mietwagenreservierung liegt geschätzt bei 7-9 Minuten. Da ist Geduld gefragt. Dennoch, die Mitabeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter sind trotz der mürrischen und genervten Kunden ausgesprochen freundlich. Die Fahrzeuge immer so gut wie neu. Sauber und technisch einwandfrei. Der Mini Clubman excellent. Auch die Rückgabe ist unproblematisch und sehr freundlich. Die Wartezeit muß verkürzt werden, sonst sind langfristig die Kunden weg und das Image der Marke AVIS/Budget wird beschädigt.

How about one queue for pre-paid and one for walk in customers? How about having a consecutive ticket numbering system so you have some idea of how far down the queue you are? I would not recommend this provider and wish I had read these reviews BEFORE I got to the airport... Grrr

pratique mais l hotel commence a etre vieux et aurait besoin d etre renove. literie impeccable. proprete correcte. mais evier bouche. les toilettes de l accueil sentaient mauvais et l ascenseur n avait toujours pas ete nettoye le lendemain jour de notre depart. cela reste cependant une bonne solution pas chere.et le personnel de l accueil est tres accueillant et professionnel.

Our car rental collection from Budget in Lisbon airport today was a big disaster. First of all, we had to wait 2,5 hours for our turn at the rental desk. Secondly we had to pay €119 excluding tax for the child seat, you can buy a new seat. Additional insurance was € 375, which is more than the rental price of the car. After that, our rental car was not ready yet and we had to wait again. Then they gave us a Renault Clio while we booked a Renault Megane. Budget argued it is the same category. I am really surprised, because a VW Polo and VW Golf are also different categories. When driving away with the Clio we noted it has one flat tire, so we went back and got a dirty (non-cleaned) Renault Captur. All in all we arrived 4 hours late in our appartment due to Budget and are really disappointed with the services.

Ne pas réservé a cette endroit. Des VOLEURS. Nous avons été chargé 5 fois le prix de notre réservation parce qu'un employé nous a dit que nous pouvions ramener la voiture a l'avance (2 jours) sur une réservation de 28 jours. Vérifier a faire des locations a l'extérieur de l'aéroport. Surcharge de Taxe si vous prenez la voiture a l'aéroport. P.s. Depuis, Apres plusieurs contact et intervention au près de différent organisme, je me suis fait rembourser. Merci !

A very disappointing experience, will not use them again. We waited about 2 hours to be served despite having a reservation. Although several customers complained about the waiting time, they did not open more service desks (although more staff were available), apologise or try to improve the system. We had paid in advance but when we were eventually served were told about add-on costs that we had to pay. These more than doubled the total cost.

3 cars booked. they knew that our flight was delayed but just closed the venue before our arrival anyway, so we had to wait the whole night on the airport for reopening. Tried to call may times on the evening before (to ask them to wait for us) - but they do never respond (it is official rule for Budget Lissabon not to respond the phone) !

Absolutely horrible customer service. I was given a Portuguese document and explained everything in English by the man counter. He managed to sneak on additional roadside assistance which I did not agree to nor want, but I signed it as he explained what was on this Portuguese document so naturally I believed him. As such I have been charged an additional 60 euro for something I had no knowledge was on my rental agreement. They also had access to English documents so I do not understand why they could not have given this to me to read properly. They are absolute thieves, do NOT use them or Avis.

Bonjour Après avoir retiré un véhicule à l’aéroport de lisbonne (SEAT Léon FR), le 09/03 je roule pendant 80 km pour rentre chez moi. Le lendemain la voiture tombe en panne : je précise le réservoir était plein au moment du retrait, je n’ai pas eu besoin d’en mettre ! Donc la voiture tombe en panne, j’appelle Avis Assistance (qui travaille avec budget, étant là même entreprise), qui me confirme qu’un remorquage va se faire et un taxi va m’emmener à Lisbonne pour retirer un autre véhicule (déjà niveau service c’est pas super bien rodé). Je vais donc retirer un autre véhicule (identique seat Léon), et je rentre chez moi. Je restitue mon véhicule le 17/03 et comme convenu sur le contrat je suis censé payé 288€ de location. Sachant que j’ai rendu le véhicule sans essence les 76€ bloqué sur ma carte seront débité pour l’essence (déjà intégré dans les 288€). Je reçois un mail avec une facture de 476€ peu de temps après. J’appelle budget qui m’informe au départ que c’est pour l’essence: déjà le mec ne sais même pas de quoi je lui parle car je me rends compte qu’il a pas du tout mon contrat sous les yeux (sachant que dans le contrat il y a 77€ de bloqué pour l’essence). Il me dit après, qu’en fait qu’il y a une surcharge pour dommages causés au véhicule. Je lui demande quels dommages, et la grande surprise : le véhicule qui est tombé en panne, un mauvais carburant a été mis dedans ! Je m’énerve avec le monsieur, car le véhicule étant plein je n’ai pas mis d’essence ou de diesel, si quelqu’un l’a mis c’est le groupe Budget (car la voiture n’aurait jamais roulé si un ancien client s’était trompé dans le carburant) Un dossier va être ouvert, cependant j’ai bien stipule que jamais je ne paierai ces 476€, je paierai les 288€ point, peu m’importe s’il faut aller en justice ou autre! Mon objectif à présent est d’informer le maximum de gens, afin d’éloigner un maximum de clients de ce groupe. En effet cette situation peu arriver avec n’importe qui. Faites très attention. I've been trying to get one document from them for two months from the rented car damage (someone smashed the window). I have my own insurance and I can't do anything because the rental company cannot send me one PDF. After two months they told me on facebook that i have to wait another 40 days... It's really funny, because the staff assured me that I would get these documents during my stay in Portugal.

Serviço desonesto, aluguei um carro maior no balcão me foi oferecido um carro maior com pagamento extra aceitei, ao ver o contrato identifiquei um Fiat 500 e falou que não preocupasse era maior, engano, era menor que o 2008 que havia contratado, na entrega me cobraram por uma marca no vidro dianteiro e não me deram o direito de provar que não houve nenhum incidente com o veículo. Worst experience ever! 2+ hours to get a reserved car. Returned car and after 2 weeks credit card was charged for damages not noted on return! No notice of supposed damage until after I had to chase them! Additional inflated charges for 'location' This operation is basically a crime ring. Attempts to get details go unanswered. 0 STARS!!! AVOID!!! If you deal with a service rep named MIguel, watch out! He tried to rip us off by 30 EUR because he insisted that we made mistakes in reserving the car. Not to mention, also an extremely rude and demeaning character (I guess this is the tactic these scumbags use to try and milk more money out of the patrons). Luckily his shift manager Sandy was more honest and kind to us, and was able to correct the situation, but caused us an additional 30 to 60 minute delay to correct the problem. After reading the other reviews, we will be sure to check our credit card statement with a fine tooth comb... Also, don't bother calling customer service to complain after the fact. The don't give a damn.

Honestamente não entendo os comentários. Levantei um carro dia 25/10 às 10h e só esperei 15 minutos na fila. Acham muito tempo na fila de espera mas depois queixam -se de custos a mais. Se demoram a atender é porque têm vários termos e condições, estamos a falar de alugar um carro, não um par de chinelos. Não tinham o carro que reservei então levantei um citroen c3 aircross novo, sem qualquer problema ou cheiros. É normal cobrarem higienização, todos queremos o carro limpo então, se não levamos limpo, alguém tem de limpar. Simples. A mim, não me foi cobrada higienização nem nenhuma taxa adicional. Tudo sem surpresas. Não entendo... Sem falar num dos melhores preços do mercado...

It took 2,5h to rent a car, better go somewhere else than airport to rent. They are also cheating, my company was paying for everything so they decided to gave me half full car, told that it will be included in recipe as discount, i cant see it anywhere, also put some extra damage waiver option which wasnt expected. I gave them card with my confirmation, they put some other stuff on my renting confirmation and recpie.

DO NOT USE THIS RENTAL CAR COMPANY - YOU WILL BE SCAMMED. My husband and I rented a car from the Budget rental car at the airport and like everyone else, we waited an insanely long time in line. We had an infant with us, so it was an especially long wait. Once we finally got our car we did a thorough inspection of the vehicle and made the company mark down a scratch that was noteable on the door that they had not flagged. BE SURE TO CHECK UNDER BUMPERS for scratches. That was our mistake. We thought we had marked down all the scratches but we missed one underneath the bumper area and that screwed us over later. The vehicle itself was fine, well kept and clean. It served it's purpose for our trip and we were grateful to have a vehicle to get around Portugal. Returning the car was a nightmare. Despite ZERO accidents or scratches during our 8 day rental, they claimed that we made a scratch tucked under the front left bumper - which we absolutely did not. Our vehicle was parked in an underground parking garage when we weren't driving it. The company charged us 300 Euros for the scratch which is astronomical. Scratches do not cost that much to be fixed, no matter what any company tells you. We disputed the scratch, spoke to the manager and were asked to email the claim department to open a claim to the dispute the scratch. We sent the email right away and it was weeks before they responded to our email saying that it was our fault, no exceptions. They charged my credit card the 300 Euros on top of the fee to rent the car for the 8 days. Then mysteriously a month later after we were back in our home country, I had another 50 Euro charge from the company with no receipt or explanation, to which I had to call my bank and flag as a fraudulent charge because a month later, they should not be still charging my credit card on file for no reason. This company is full of scammers. DO NOT USE THEM AT ALL COSTS unless you want problem after problem, false claims and fraudulent charges to your credit card.

If I could it negative stars I would. The wait to pick up the car at the Lisbon airport was 2 hours - after a 12 hour flight. Then Budget charged me $70 for bringing the car back 15 min late. The manager Hugo offered to refund the extra charges but did not end up doing so. Finally, 3 weeks after my holiday ended, unexplained charges from Budget appeared on my credit card. When I called in to ask for an explanation none was provided. Budget told me to call Hugo back directly.......to which no contact information was provided. Then budget customer service ping ponged me around to 4 different agents and they all gave different advice. Finally after sending in all the documentation they requested of me I was told that the charges were valid - despite not being able to explain them to me. There were massive differences on the budget rental agreement and the final receipt. This has been one of the worst customer experiences I have ever had.

AVOID AT ALL COST more than 2 hrs wait at counter to talk to someone ... we present our papers reservation and all ... the rental sales lady says she doesn't see the reservation (wich was not true as the custumer service confirmed the login in the resertion on the date and time of rental ) ... after another long wait we then proceed to the rental ... we later find out our reservation wasn't used in the process the rental agent did another reservation without our conscent but for a smaller vehicule and added an upsell (they probably get some kind of bonuses) upon return we where chaged mor the 7x the reservation amount without telling us ... they just scan the info and tell you to go on the website to print the receipt 24h after return ... now more than 2 months in the complaint process and still far from resolution ... do yourself a favor rent somewhere else

Car rental in Lisbon is horrific! Two tips... on arrival leave someone to get your bags (if you can) and go to the pick up desk ASAP. You need to grab a ticket number then just wait... takes 30min minimum. On return leave 45min+ EXTRA, this is just to get into the car hire return car park. There is only one gate in and ALL rental companies use it Gold car takes returns so slowly the whole car park backs up and the jam stretches 100m out of the car park (that's before you are inside) there is NO alternative, just have to wait. Europecar has in own lane, so a little fast once inside and Avis /budget are first drop offs lanes...the rest you just keep crawling along to get to. You've been warned!

No dia que era suposto ocorrer o aluguer deslocámo-nos ao local para levantar a viatura e foi nos dito que a mesma tinha partido um vidro no dia anterior. Absolute Frechheit und Abzocke! Zusatzversicherungen wurden abgeschlossen, obwohl ich dies 10x verneint habe!!! Über 400 EUR mehr bezahlt! Ich musste den Vertrag via Tablet unterschreiben. Die abzocker Dame scrollte einach hinunter und forderte mich den Vertrag zu unterschreiben! Ich erhielt den Vertrag später per Email. Da war es schon zu spät, ich habe den Vertrag erst gelesen, nachdem ich diese Kommentrare hier gelesen habe!!! Absolute Frechheit und Abzockerei!!! Absolute Frechheit!!!!!! NIE mehr bei BUDGET!!! Unbedingt sofort den Vertrag nach Abschluss, anschauen!!!!!!!!!!

Niet doen! Zonder overdrijven meer dan twee uur wachttijd en geen zicht op mn auto. Betaal t dubbele maar niet avis en budget. Alle andere car rentals geen rijen. Hier echt zo n slecht proces. T duurt 25 minuten per klant... aaargh alles is prepaid, prefilled... waarom verbetert niet iemand het proces in plaats van een nummerautomaat neer te zetten! Kansloos.

Do yourself a favor and avoid Avis/Budget Rental at all costs. Pay triple for another company if you have to. 2 hrs in line at the airport, no end in site. Customer service people useless, though I feel bad for them. This terrible Company has not set them up for success. Will never use Budget again and will try to tell as many people on the planet how terrible they are. What a stain on an otherwise great vacation. Terrible for Portugal.

Picking up the car went smooth. Car condition was perfect. 2 stars because they tried to charge me extra for electronic devicd while it was already paid for without any reason. Managed to refund the extra charge at the desk. Read the fineprint and get everything on paper. Especially the costs and totals. Did not enjoy this situation.

Lentísimos! Tuvo que llegar uno de los jefes, llamado Rubén, para cambiar el chip de los trabajadores. Pongo 3 estrellas debido a que son agradables y a este magnífico trabajador. ✔Aceptan tarjeta de débito y no es caro. ✔Coches nuevos y limpios. ✘Lentos.. 1 número cada 20 minutos. ✘Priorizan demasiado a los clientes VIP. Yo esperé 3 h y una persona de este grupo 5 minutos. ✘5 trabajadores para 4 empresas.

We were very happy with this rental car. We really recommend it. There was a queue and the receptionist at the desk was not nice/ impolite, even our native language is Portuguese (from Brazil). I really recommend some training to improve these treatment. However when we picked up the car, we were very well attended by Sirs. Joao and Bruno Silva. We had rent a car (Renault Clio) for 11 days and were very well attended by Joao and Bruno Silva. As we had a worst experience with "Firefly" which charged us inappropriately, we were afraid of any charge could appear, but Sir. Joao & Bruno Silva have calm us down. Indeed was the best option that we have done. We've decided to pay more than Firefly and not have any surprises. We have spotted all the scratches and passed these to them, but they could understand and informed us that we would not have any disappointment with "Budget" if we would return under the same condition. We have returned it and indeed no surprises. We are very pleased with the service and reliability. Thank you Sirs. Joao & Bruno Silva! Roger Machado

The Lisbon airport desk is over whelmed with average wait times of 2-3 hours with all 5 desks active. They are used to operate like this all others have a queue but nothing like the Avis / Budget desk. It's a joke Plenty of other options save your precious holiday time and book elsewhere. We changed from Goldcar after so much bad publicity but Budget deserve to be blasted for abusing my time and patronage. When we did finally get seen after 2.5 hours and there is no seating around, the attendant spoke perfect English and never apologised. Disgraceful

We rented a Mercedes van for 10 days at 150$/day. It just died today on the highway after driving only 1 hour. We barely got to the side of the road. We called Budget and it was a debacle. My 3 children and elderly aunt waited in the string heat on the side of the highway for over an hour. They sent a recovery vehicle but the driver never stepped foot out of his car nor spoke a word to us and drove off leaving us stranded! We incurred 50Euro in overseas call fees trying to get an answer as to what was going on. Finally, we got the car to start and ,realizing no one would help, we fearfully made it to Lisbon. They refused to bring a replacement to our hotel or help in any way and we were not demanding or rude! We had to take the car and wait in a 45 min line - total of 3 more hours and it was totally their fault. NEVER rent from Avis/Budget unless you want yo be utterly stranded with a family of 6 on a very hot side of the highway. They should be ashamed.

Arnaque absolue, J'ai réservé avec rentalcar et dès mon arrivée, toutes les options additionnelles réservées sur internet n'étaient pas prises en compte chez Budget. Pas de conducteur supplémentaire, pas de GPS, pas d'assurance sans franchise. J'ai dû payer plus de 250€ en plus. Un sentiment de me faire avoir : énorme. Ne passez pas par eux. Ils ne sont pas de confiance.

Incredibly rude and clearly uneducated and untrained staff. This is very atypical for Portugal which in general has good standards and friendly staff. Not here. Never seen such thing. The lady was blaming me for my flight having been cancelled and thus 1 day late arrival at the rental desk, they were blaming me for having booked a cheap promotion (! Yes!? What do you expect sir, you paid such a cheap promotion?), they ended up trying to cover me more than three times (!) the prepaid fee, covering all kinds of surplus and taxes, even for the unused day! Please Budget, teach your staff what client friendliness is and how to smile and be professional. Also how to be fair to your customers instead of ripping them off in all kinds of ways. Plus you were a bunch of frustrated women at the front desk. It took us ages to rent the car with 2 queues (one for contract, one for the key) and half an hour at the desk itself. Never, but never again. Book another company even if it's more expensive, it will end up cheaper and less frustrating.

Wonderful service....was supposed to get a car with another company but they didnt accept my American Express. I was transfered to Budget and the car was ready immediatly. My credit card did not have the €1300 blocked like other companies do as theg felt that wasnt fair! On returning the car i asked directions to the hotel and Joao Olivera kindly said 'Jump in i will take you' such a kind gesture and a fantastic piece of customer service...because of this i would always look for Budget in the future. What a wonderful employee to have within your brand

Cannot be trusted: I was explicitly told that it would cost me no more to return the car less than full. However, when I returned the car with half a tank of fuel I was charged for a full tank.

em geral foi uma boa experiência, mas duas coisas a apontar, o carro que se reserva na net não foi o carro que estava disponível, compreendo que podem não o ter, e dizia claramente que era aquele carro ou similar, mas posso estar a escolher aquele por querer especificamente aquela carro ou aquela marca, segundo a deposito feito para a gasolina e uma politica ofuscada e manhosa, visto que mesmo que enchemos o deposito antes de entregar o carro, a viagem para o aeroporto vai sempre gastar algo. abasteci o carro e mesmo assim foi retirado o deposito.

Waited 26 minutes in line to pickup the car we booked. The agent was friendly however and I recommend getting a toll device for an extra 2 EUR/day if traveling up to Porto.
