Very nice boutique hotel. Very worm welcome. Fixed all our issues such as Late checking , parking and taxi. Very recommended . Room 15 has a great balcony with an amazing view.

We had the best time here and stayed on the very top floor with an amazing view over the Valley of the Foxes! I'm convinced this is the very best place anyone can stay in Sintra. The breakfast is actually in a restaurant they own one street over, and it's one of the best you'll ever get from a hotel. Joao worked the front desk and really made the stay special with his knowledge of the town and outstanding customer service. There is also some fine port wine in the downstairs common area that guests are welcome to on the house!

Amazing building and location in such a beautiful town! We booked the smallest room as we were only staying for one night which was small but good value for money. The hospitality of the staff was great and very helpful with directing us around the main tourist sites. The breakfast is in a cafe a short distance from the guesthouse and was very tasty!

Cute little spot, great views. We left the windows open at night - nice chill air and quiet outside. Super helpful staff! Oh and the complimentary breakfast will keep you going all day! Huge!

Outstanding chalet, in a historic building full of character. The reception is manned by four lovely people, who provide exceptional customer service! I felt welcomed more like to a family or a friends' house than to a standard, touristy place of accommodation! And, as an anecdotal detail, it was the first time when I checked into a hotel with a glass in my hand (they serve good Port wine to all customers). All four receptionists (in no particular order: João, Hugo, Filipa and Helena) are very professional and knowledgeable, they provide useful local info, maps, leaflets with discounts, offers and events calendars, taking time to explain and make great sightseeing suggestions! I have travelled to many places, but the hospitality, friendliness and warmth of the customer service in this chalet is truly superb! The building/ the rooms are impeccably clean, the decoration throughout is quite arty, yet functional and modern, with great creative touches. I booked a suite on the first floor, and loved everything about it! The views, the space, the bed and mattress quality, and the general tranquillity of the location! I'm a light sleeper, but enjoyed a great night's sleep every night at Chalet Saudade. The suite felt very spacious, with a large living room, and a generously sized balcony, with a big shower room and its own wash basin, and a separate toilet, with a wash basin and a bidet. TVs and air conditioning in each room. A computer for general use in the study attached to the reception. The chalet offers breakfast (included in the accommodation price) at Café Saudade, which is just 3 minutes walk away, on a adjacent street. The breakfasts are served there all day long (yes, how great to not be bound to take it within only 2 hours in the morning), so you can have it any time between 8 am and 6 pm. I shall review separately the Café, where food and service are equally wonderful! Thank you to the whole team at Chalet Saudade for their fabulous professionalism and kindness, they made my stay in Sintra one of the best holidays I ever had! I'll be back... Lumi, a very happy customer.

Hotel mono y curioso, agradable, pero lleno de hormigas, no podías sentarte en un sillón sin que te empezasen a subir hormigas.En la habitación no puedes tener ni un caramelo porque se llena en cuestione de minutos de hormigas también.Y la habitación noche y día con un ruido tremendo de un motor de aires acondicionados que no permitía dormir .

Die beste Unterkunft seit Jahren mit einem sehr großen, sehr sauberen Zimmer und einer guten Heizung.Trotz der zentrale Lage eine stilles Zimmer mit einem Fernblick ins Grüne.Wie immer in Portugal gibt es in der Region ausgezeichnetes Essen und feine Getränke. Dazu kommt die bemerkenswerte Freundlichkeit und Hilfsbereitschaft der Portugiesen.Letztlich ist schon das Haus eine erneute Reise nach Sintra wert.

Beautiful small hotel within easy walking distance of the Sintra train station. Friendly team and helpful service, including tips to help prioritise sights not to miss, restaurant suggetions and helping with bookings. The sun lounge has beautiful views into the valley. Our room was spacious with a dressing area. There are quite a lot of stairs in the house.

A unique experience in a lovely old villa in the middle of Sintra. The host was really lovely and explained all the sights worth visiting. Totally recommend!

I love this place, but it has some issues. I can only tell you about my room, (top floor, #15). Room is beautiful -- exposed beams & old stone, wooden stairway to loft bedroom, pink marble bathroom walls, free-standing porcelain sink (no counter space), wood floors, shuttered windows, & best of all, a veranda with stunning view of valley, spires of National Palace, & Moorish Castle. Beds/pillows comfortable. Staff absolutely wonderful. Location is just OK -- close to train station, but 10 min walk from town center. No elevator, but staff will carry up your luggage with a smile. For breakfast, they hand you a pass to a nearby cafe, which provides fixed menu of plain yogurt+fruit (mostly berries), croissant, big piece of ciabatta, slice each of ham & prosciutto, a piece of an off-white cheese and something ricotta-like, small pastry, orange juice, & choice of hot drink. About 1/2 cafe staff have professional demeanors; other 1/2 wear permanent scowls. Now the bad news... Our room was 2BR suite with living room. A/C unit was single-room-capacity machine in living room, not designed to cool such a big space. It blew only cool air anyway, maybe 65 deg. Sintra, even in July, is cool, so opening the many windows is more effective than A/C unit. Trouble is that breezes cause shutters & doors to slam shut as you sleep. It's workable with this advice: When you get back in your room in the evening, open all windows & doors. Cross breezes cool entire room quickly. Doors & shutters may slam, but it's OK because you're still awake (hold doors or put pillows in doorways else you will disturb entire house). Once room is cool, close all but 1 window in each room, & close all doors. This stops cross breezes/slamming, but each room's open window maintains cool temps thru the night. Another issue is that entire suite has just a single 3x2-ft mirror, which makes it difficult for an entire family to get ready in the morning. Mirror is in bathroom, which makes sense, but shower is enclosed by nothing but half wall of completely transparent glass. When any family member is showering, others can't use mirror unless they want a show. For same reason, one can't use toilet while another showers. Shower floor isn't slanted toward drain, so there's always standing water. Similarly, soap dish isn't slanted toward its drain, so it has standing water. Hotel provides body wash in wall-mounted dispenser, but if you bring your own bar soap, water in soap dish will make it mushy. Sink drains VERY slowly as well. Possible clogged pipe, but staff explained that room was just recently built/opened, so I thought it unlikely that it was already clogged up. I enjoyed irregular angled ceiling & protruding stonework, but we did bang our heads a few times. Passage between bed & a protruding stone demi-wall was so tight that I had to lean on bed as I went thru. Would be completely inappropriate for elderly, those with limited mobility, or anyone who is very overweight. Despite negatives, there's so much to love about this place that I loved staying there, & would again. Wouldn't recommend to others, though, without making them aware of its issues.

Beautiful building, large rooms, friendly staff, amazing breakfast, and free port! Fantastic place to stay when exploring the sights of Sintra.

Great setting and location, very friendly staff, clean, incredibly pretty and charming. With its charm come some minor drawbacks - for example a smallish shower, an old toilet that takes a few flushes and - in our room - poor internet. However, such things are totally outweighed by its charm. The breakfast in the nearby associated Café was also excellent - and again, the staff outstanding. In the weekend, parking may be a challenge, but we parked near the railway station on a busy Saturday morning. The Sintra sights are all wonderful of course. There was a lot of mist during our stay, but that actually made the Moorish Castle look even better.

Hotel molto bello, posizione centrale vicino alla stazione. Stanza ampia letti grandi e comodi, bagno grande moderno e pulitissimo. Personale molto gentile, colazione ottima e abbondante nel loro caffè a pochi passi. Non ha ascensore però ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo.

Sehr, sehr nettes und hilfreiches Personal in einer wunderschönen Jugendstilvilla. Wir hatten ein schönes Zimmer mit extra Ankleideraum und Blick auf den Garten und in der Distanz der Atlantik. Sehr urig und unterhaltsam waren auch die vielen Ecken im Haus mit kleinen Puppenmöbeln und Türen "für die Feen und Kobolde", ein Spaß für Groß und Klein, vor allem, weil sich ständig irgendetwas verändert. Das Frühstück im Café Saudade um die Ecke beim Bahnhof war ebenfalls sehr lecker. Wir würden jederzeit wieder gerne dort übernachten.

Best in every ways! The place is professionally run, immaculate and well restored. The price is very reasonable. With extra 6 Euro, the Bf was excellent. More than themoney worth, even when we were warned that it would be big. Delicious and prepared with care and attention. Will stay again and recommend fir any one.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Chalet Saudade but could do better. Pros - stunning views across sintra - ok service - good location - spacious apartment - balcony and access to the gardens - very clean and decor was quaint Cons - breakfast was very basic and down the road at the cafe - bed was poor, very lumpy and uncomfortable. - our room was not tidied up even though we'd been out all day and the sign was put to tidy up. - no mini bar/fridge Good luck to Chalet Saudade for their future adventures we did really enjoy our stay and very close to Sintra train station.

The property is an old home but beautifully redone. However, there were lots of steps down to my room, #9 which looked out on the garden. People with mobility issues should let the staff know. But speaking of staff, the young woman at the front desk could not have been more helpful and kind. She helped me plan my visit, gave me great information for a lunch option, and was just perfect. My room was beautiful, hot water was plentiful, bed was comfy...I would gladly have stayed another night if it would have been available. Loved this small boutique hotel and the breakfast was incredible.

Chalet Saudade was a perfect location to stay for my two days in Sintra. The hotel was very clean and the staff was very helpful with recommendations for local and some hidden palaces to see. The central heat and hot water made the room very comfortable. If I had more time here, I wouldve loved to spend time in the living room area which seemed very inviting for an early morning read or late evening class of port. Thank you team Chalet Saudade! I had a wonderful time.

We will absolutely return! Old world style with modern amenities.This is more of an intimate bed and breakfast style, however it was great for our family. We did book two rooms for our family of four and we we were definitely comfortable. The service was outstanding too.

Il mio giudizio negativo si riferisce alla qualità delle camere dei piani inferiori. Abbiamo pagato 45 a notte per persona senza colazione e la prima sera ci siamo ritrovati in una camera claustrofobica col bagno che puzzava di muffa e senza finestra. La finestra vicino al letto dava sul piano di calpestio, tipo seminterrato. Sono entrata anche in un'altra camera dello stesso piano ed era ancora più piccola, tra il muro ed il letto c'erano 20 cm e il bagno puzzava anche lì. La seconda notte siamo riusciti a farci spostare nella camera numero 1, spaziosa luminosa e senza puzza (che aveva lo stesso prezzo della Camera 9, il seminterrato). Praticamente abbiamo buttato i soldi della prima sera. La struttura è meravigliosa, offrono vino di Porto, ma se la camera non è bella è tutto inutile, perché è lì che si passerà la maggior parte del tempo. Consiglio questa struttura solo per le camere dei piani superiori, le camere inferiori non dovrebbero essere affittate, secondo me. O comunque ad un prezzo molto più basso. Ringrazio il personale per l'aiuto, non è colpa loro se le camere non sono vivibili.

Beautiful old home with a stunning view overlooking the resort town of Sintra. While most tourists only visit the National Palace of Sintra and Palace da Pena, make time to visit the private estates of nearby Quinta da Regeleira and especially Montserrate, both of which have unique architecture and extensive gardens.

We loved the help from the man who works there who had good recommendations. We liked our room and private entrance. We were only in Sintra for about 24 hours and got to do everything we wanted with the help of people at the Chalet! Loved the location and cozy house.

Estábamos buscando un sitio tranquilo y acogedor donde pasar un fin de semana relajado y el alojamiento superó nuestras expectativas. Un hotel de lo más original con habitaciones de todo tipo y con una decoración vintage de lo mas original. Agradecemos enormemente la amabilidad del personal del hotel que nos ayudaron y aconsejaron en todo momento. Un 10 de sitio, seguro que volveremos a alojarnos en un futuro :).

Beautiful and historic stay. Our room was on the -1 floor and right below the living rooms and entry room, so it was very loud throughout the day (it sounds like people stomping) and until 11pm or so when guests and staff above use the area. It felt a little like a college dorm in that respect. The breakfast at cafe Saudade was absolutely wonderful, filling and the best hotel breakfast we’ve had so far in Portugal. The complimentary cup of wine upstairs was only out for a few hours each day, sometime after noon, so we were only able to catch it on 2/4 days that we stayed here. A complimentary bottle of port wine for each room would have been wonderful, given how cheap a bottle is in the area. The staff were wonderful, very kind and welcoming. The room was very clean and the cleaning staff did a lovely job each day. It would have been great to have a mini fridge in the room to store fruit and drinks. We were also surprised not to have any complimentary coffee and our tea bags were not always replenished. The bed was not comfortable, it sloped toward the center and was not firm. The location was perfectly located, away enough from the train, great views and close to all of the sights. We assumed the property outside would be larger, to explore and walk through based on the posting. The house was kept very warm which was perfect since it rained most of the trip. We really loved having an outside door we could access our room exclusively from.

Super cute bed and breakfast. Get their breakfast option. It was delicious and a good deal. We had the smallest room which they warned us would be quite small. They were correct, but we were only there one night so it was totally fine.

This was an amazing place with so much room and so comfortable, it was like we were in our own Mansion above the city, we really loved every thing to do with Chalet Saudade, excellent staff and access to everything Sintra.

Staying here was one of the all time highlights of my travel experiences, anywhere. It's so incredibly beautiful, the location is great, the staff are just the nicest people, and breakfast at the cafe was the delicious icing on the cake. We honestly could not have had a better experience, and loved this place enough that it alone could be the driving force for a return trip to Sintra. Thank you for making it so special for us! We were put in a basement room with shag rugs which seemed like dirt traps. Stuffy room, air conditioner didn’t work. We tried to get help from front desk but they wouldn’t answer the call. As I called and let it ring, my husband went upstairs and the man was just sitting their ignoring our call. I would say the hotel was a nice two star or a crappy three star but certainly not a nice three star.

We were charmed by Chalet Saudade, which was steps from the train station in Sintra, gorgeous details, antiques, fairy niches, lovely garden, honor system for drinks, and a complementary continental breakfast at the associated Cafe Saudade. Highly recommend!

The chalet is beautiful old world Europe and well worth the price. The staff is amazing and bends over backwards for you. WiFi is awesome and the little touches like a free port wine when you arrive is perfect. Book in advance and get a larger room. We will be back here again. And again!

This is a very pleasant nice place to stay a night or two. Definetly better invest in the above standard rooms, especially those with garden view. Décor is eclectic, common room is nice, receptionists friendly and helpful. Location is great, breakfast is simple but sufficient. Only downside is that the old water piping is very loud, so that might wake u up as early as the first person to take a shower is up...

La ubicación es excelente, las instalaciones son estilo antiguo con mucho encanto, te ofrecen vino de Porto por la casa, hay juegos de mesa en la zona de estar y la habitación a pesar de ser un poco pequeña, tenía todo lo necesario. Lo único a considerar es que no dispone de ascensor y si llevas mucho equipaje podría ser incómodo.

I cannot say enough positive comments about Chalet Saudade Boutique Hotel! It was our favorite hotel during our 16 day trip to Portugal! The location can't be beat! It is just a five-minute walk to the train station. The staff, especially John was amazing. Upon checking in, he took his time explaining the hotel, attractions nearby, and recommended super restaurants. While sipping gratis port, we enjoyed the antique furniture and lovely view. The hotel and complimentary breakfast, exceeded our expectations!

I felt safe and cared for. There was good security and the staff was extremely responsive and knowledgable.

Ein wunderbar gemütliches Hotel mit sehr, sehr nettem Personal. Wir lieben die originellen Jugendstil- und Art Deco-Details, die Einladung zum Portwein im Aussichtserker und natürlich das Prachtfrühstück im Cafe Saudade. Diesmal haben wir uns 4 Tage dort verwöhnen lassen und unterschiedliche Ausflüge unternommen. Am schönsten ist der Palacio da Monserrate.

Very cute place with friendly staff that will gladly recommend sights to see and food to eat. The room (#10) surpassed our expectations: very spacious, comfortable bed, great shower, and a door opening up directly into the courtyard. Luggage storage was available to us before and after our stay.

The location is really nice and close to the train station and to the old town. The staff is very friendly and helped us a lot with some recommendations in Sintra and also with our schedule. The breakfast was very big and complex.

Das Hotel befindet sich in einer alten schön hergerichteten Villa im Zentrum von Sintra (Nähe Bahnhof). Schon am Empfang fühlt man den Charme des alten Hauses und ein gemütlicher Aufenthaltsraum mit Blick über das Tal lädt zum Verweilen ein. Die Zimmer sind geräumig und sauber. Das Haus hat mehrere Etagen aber keinen Aufzug - beim Gepäcktransport ist aber das Personal gerne behilflich. Sehr leckeres und reichhaltiges Frühstück gibt es im Cafe Saudade eine Straße weiter. Einziges Manko sind die fehlenden Parkplätze zu den Hauptstoßzeiten in Sintra. Wenn man allerdings etwas später anreist kann man gegen Gebühr direkt in Hotelnähe bzw. gratis hinter dem Bahnhof parken.

Really cool place to stay. Super old house, renovated but kept old. Should have stayed another night. Got the cheapest beer across the street in the bar €1.5, but we must have been the only people not smoking a joint, haha Great breakfast included and served in a very good bakery 200 meters from the house.

Very clean and nice place. A perfect combin beetween vintage and modern. All rhe place is renovated, and still furnitur is antique. The staff is very friendly and ready to help and explain whatever we needed. We all were very confortable with Chalet Saudade. Very recomended.

Very friendly staff and very good breakfast. However since the Chalet is a very old building and we were located in the second lower level, there was this constant basement smell (wet and old). Which is okay for one night :)

We stayed for only one night, but we loved our stay! The service was top-notch, the e-mail they sent us prior to our departure was highly useful. The staff were always kind and welcoming. Both interior and exterior of the building were stunning. The location was just perfect; only minutes away from the train station so that we didn't have to carry our luggage any farther. We were able to choose/upgrade our room - the room we stayed in was spacious, clean and bright with separate seating area and a nice view of garden. The included breakfast at the cafe was not too special (in terms of menu), but certainly was nice and hearty. Only negative part of the room was that the shower booth was a bit too small and the water temperature was not always consistent.

Increíble lugar. Es una mansión preciosa con todo tipo de comodidades. Te sientes como en casa por el trato amable y cercano de su personal. El desayuno en el café saudade es delicioso y súper abundante.

Not only is Chalet Saudade a beautifully restored hotel in the heart of Sintra, but it has the staff to match. Mary, the proprietress, went the extra mile , rising at 5:30 to help us with an early departure when our taxi failed to arrived. And sent us off with a beautiful boxed breakfast as well. Clearly, above and beyond the norm and all done with a smile.

Das Hotel ist so liebevoll und geschmacksicher gestaltet (Jugendstil und Art Deco), dass ich jederzeit wiederkommen würde. Der Service ist sehr aufmerksam und das Frühstück im nahegelegenen Cafe Saudade ist einfach himmlisch. Wir waren auch am Tag zuvor schon zum Kaffeetrinken und zum Abendsnack in diesem wunderbaren Cafe.

Sehr stilreiche Altbau mit moderner Ausrüstung. nette Bedienung und tolle Lage. Das Frühstück ist im Cafe draußen und von toller Qualität. Gerne jederzeit wieder.

Wenn Sintra, dann hier übernachten. Achtung: Frühstück außer Haus im Café gleichen Namens, auch bei Regen. Andere Atmosphäre, aber ebenfalls stimmig.

Tolles Hotel. Von hier kann man alles erreichen. Bus, Bahnhof oder die Altstadt zu Fuß. Nettes Personal. Leider keinen Parkplatz.
