Back again after Covid lockdown. Happy to report that food and service still excellent! Lisbon needs us to support all these wonderful places!
Perfectly cooked food in a relaxed Aussie environment. Everything was delicious with flavours that worked very well together. The duck was a highlight. The chocolate caramel dessert was a real treat too. Food choices from the tables next to us looked very good too. Will be back.

We spent our evening at Justin’s Australian restaurant quite spontaneously and we were more than positively surprised. The restaurant is far away from the typical Australian bar and despite the good ratings still underrated. You will find Australian fusion food for a reasonable price and nice service. We’re very glad that we found this place and can highly recommend it.

I highly recommend this restaurant. Eating there is a great, unforgettable journey for your senses. I ordered 5 course menu and every dish was an incredible experience. Chapeau bas to Chef Justin Jennings who came to us and told us about how he made the food. He is an Artist and it was a pleasure to eat there.

A entrada de porkbelly foi das melhores entradas que já pedi, a gordura é divinal e derrete se na boca. A sobremesa de Pavlova também estava qualquer coisa do outro mundo. O resto que pedi estava tudo bom. Recomendo vivamente, uma experiência diferente e gourmet, com sabores da Austrália.

What a fantastic experience - being an Australian myself I was very intrigued as to what the experience at Justin Jennings Down Under would be like, and it blew me away. Incredible authentic food with such beautiful presentation made me feel back at home, every taste was just how I wanted it to be. The service was beautiful, the restaurant is comfortable and luxurious, and I really wished I had time to dine there again! I would definitely insist on you dining at this fantastic establishment, either to experience modern Australian cuisine, or to have a taste of home if you're from down under itself!

Excellent food in a smart but relaxed restaurant. Aussie take on classic French, “Modern International”? However you’d describe it, it was all delicious. The head chef stopping by for a chat after dinner was a nice touch too.

Justine Jennings australischer Spitzenkoch und seine Frau führen dieses kleine feine Lokal. Fusion von australischer und Portugiesisch Europäischer Küche. Lockere aber stilvolle moderne Atmosphäre in einem renovierten alten Gebäude mit Kellergewölbe, handwerklich ausgezeichnete Küche mit liebe am Detail und guten auch exotischen Speisen. Korrekte Weinkarte, ist einen Besuch wert wenn man in Lissabon ist.

Estava bastante curioso em relação a este restaurante , mas na generalidade fiquei desiludido. Quando se visita um restaurante deste género nesta gama de valores espera se que toda a experiência seja no mínimo acima da média. A comida era excelente de facto no entanto o atendimento foi fraco (uma espécie de falsa simpatia com frases decoradas não sentidas), o preço muito elevado (mais justo com desconto). Foi uma experiência QB no entanto estava à espera de mais , daí a desilusão.

Utterly fabulous.. Great service and price! Chef is so nice and passionate about his food. Spent ages chatting and explaining his dishes.....Great experience! The crocodile was to die for as was the pork belly and the fillet. Highly recommended. Going again!!!

Nous avons goûté la poitrine de canard, un délice. Ce restaurant n'affiche pas toujours plein a cause de sa situation un peu excentrée. Pourtant, il mérite le détour. Vous pouvez aussi y goûter du kangourou et du crocodile. Les plats varient entre 13 et 23€. Les desserts sont tout aussi délicieux.
Je recommande si vous savez faire le détour.

Myself and 18 others visited this restaurant last weekend and I have to say we had a brilliant evening from beginning to end! The cleanliness and atmosphere in the restaurant was wonderful. A special thank you to the chef (who personally introduced himself) and staff, the food was absolutely fantastic (probably one of the best three course meals we’ve had) and the service we received was second to none. If you are visiting Lisbon I would definitely recommend this restaurant! This ended my sisters hen weekend perfectly; we shall be returning! Thank you all

We initially found the restaurant smaller than we'd imagined & the location was tucked away but the staff & the food were terrific.
Ordered the chicken & the steak & thoroughly enjoyed them. Superbly cooked & full of flavour.
Although not on the menu I asked for cheese for dessert & they presented us with amazing platter for 2.
The chef came out to meet us & check we enjoyed our meals which we did
Definitely recommend - no need for steak knife as the steak was so tender!

Delicious food, excellent service and good value for money. Had pork belly (beautifully cooked and succulent) and pavlova with strawberries and passion fruit. Small starter of duck, ham and kangaroo with bread. Lovely friendly waitress.

If you would like to try creative fusion food from Australia, this is the place! Love the fresh produce, not only kangaroo, crocodile but also yummy SEAFOOD. Fusion thai tom yum to risotto is very good idea. Pork belly is so delish too. Their lunch special menu is also very good value! Highly recommended if you are in Lisbon.

Can't understand how I can still get a table at this place without booking. Justin has taken a mix of Portuguese and Australian produce and given it a modern twist which just nails it every time.
This is about as good as modern Australian food gets anywhere and at a third of what you would pay in Sydney or Melbourne.
The wines are a well thought out selection of Australian and Portuguese which compliment the food beautifully.
Go there while you can still get a table.!!!

Tucked away in a side-street of Santos, this is a great place if you miss a little more adventurous foods and flavours from downunder. Nice and friendly service, a little on the pricy side... but definitely worth it.

Went based on the positive reviews.
Last minute booking which they were able to fit us in on a Saturday night so things started on a positive note.
Arrived and were taken downstairs to a nicely decorated but somewhat cramped seating area.
When trying to decide on a wine for the evening I asked our server for recommendations as I am not familiar with the region's wines.
She had no clue regarding any of the establishments wines, there were no descriptions of the wine beyond the producer, region and grape varietal, and was unable to make any suggestions , even after twice leaving the table to talk to the head waiter, who stood 20 feet away, and decided to not just to walk over to our table and assist.
I was left to make a decision on my own and was disappointed in the wine we ended up with.
2 points.....
A highly rated restaurant should have servers who are familiar with the products they are selling
If they choose not to provide this service then perhaps a more descriptive wine list, flavours,
Vintage year, dry or sweet, any critic reviews ect should be provided .
The end result is that it created a frustrating experience that affected the rest of the night.
That said we were looking past that and ordered 2 entrees to begin our evening.
What has impressed us with our stay in Lisbon is the speed at which our food arrives once ordered.
Unfortunately this was not the case here.
From the time we arrived to when we were served our first course was 45 minutes and fully a half hour after ordering it.
Was the food good......yes...no complaints with the food.
Had kangaroo tartar, pork belly and salmon dishes.
All fine but no wow factor .
I guess I am disappointed because I was expecting so much more based on all the gushing reviews.
A top restaurant should be more informative with every aspect of it's menu and speed of sevice is a must.

Although an Australian restaurant it was absolutely delicious. The lunchtime menu del dia was great value. Excellent kangaroo on the menu. But everything was really nicely cooked. If you want something different in Lisbon then this is well worth a try.

Super hidden gems in Lisbon !
Our experience is ❤️
We choose to have table downstairs there’s a two table semi private in between column, we seat one of them. There’s two person giving service on this floor. One younger guy and one lady.
Both are so polite and high service!
When the younger guy came to our table every time was just a bit nervous maybe or lil bit afraid if he could make some mistakes. He need to chill a bit but no complain about him.
The lady seems more experienced of course, we never expect we got this high service (like you are in super high class dining restaurant).
Service is just amazing!!
We ordered crocodile, kangaroo for me , steak for my husband and pavlova for dessert . Drinks : Bottle of water , glass of wine and mojito .
Rate : I WANT IT MORE !!!! 100/10

last but not least the chef it self Justin come to tables including us to greet and ask how is our experience. This is outstanding service so far in Lisbon restaurant based on my experience.

The food is amazing, super tasty with a lot of flavors. We tried the surf and turf and the vazia for the main dishes and the pork belly for the starter. Finishing with one of the best deserts ever the brownie with ice cream. It's not cheap at all but the has quality.

My partner and i had a wonderful dining experience in this lovely restaurant, the staff were fantastic and Justin came out to see how we were enjoying ourselves which was a lovely touch, and i definitely recommend the pork belly absolutely delicious.

Here's what you should eat: start with the crocodile salad, followed by the spiced duck breast or Tom Yum Risotto, finished with the sticky date pudding. Amazing staff, super accommodating to our larger group, and a great atmosphere. A must try when in Lisbon, you won't be disappointed!

Very creative menu. We had the green peas panacotta to start, and then the salmon and the eggplant as mains. It was all delicious, with interesting flavour combinations. The dessert, apple crumble, was a bit desapointing, with the apples not well cooked for our taste, we should've chosen something different. Service was friendly and efficient.

Wow! Food is fabulous, service is exemplary, lunch today, sweet pea panna cotta with crab, followed by duck, others had Kangaroo steak, and sirloin steak with the most wonderful deserts, lemon curd tart, pavlova, and chocolate brownie, marvellous and we could have eaten them all. This is a gem!

Came all the way from Melbourne to try this restaurant and Justin you did not disappoint.
I ordered 7 dishes to sample and all were perfect. The flavours were delicate and non over powering. The proteins were cooked beautifully and the accompanying sauces complimented the meats perfectly.
To top it all off I ordered the sticky date pudding and that was the cherry on the top for me.
Highly recommended for anyone wanting to taste a bit of Australia here in Lisbon.

If you're looking for a special place to celebrate a special occasion, look no further. Downunder has an amazing selection of different and delicious dishes, a fancy but not stiff atmosphere and really kind and professional staff. You can try crocodile and kangaroo here (I found them exquisite, there's a nice tasting menu that includes both!), and you can fully trust the recommendation that your waiters might give you, they know the good stuff! The prices are a bit on the higher side (not absurdly high for sure), but completely worth it!

As someone with coeliac disease it can be difficult eating out. My husband searched online for a good gluten free restaurant while we were in Lisbon and this one didn't disappoint. The majority of the menu was suitable so i didn't need to opt for the usual offer of salad that i was getting used to.
The meal was the best I've eaten in a very long time and beautifully presented as was the restaurant itself, relaxed and modern, lovely atmosphere.
The chef approached us at the end of the meal to ask if we enjoyed our meal, which i thought was a nice touch. Obviously, we were very happy diners.
A must if you're visiting Lisbon. Off the main route but worth the trip.

Excelente. Música ambiente. Comida muito saborosa e com requinte. Desde o tártaro de canguru à tarte de citrinos tudo muito saboroso. Com certeza a repetir.

It's quite a small restaurant but it has amazing food. Had myself a taste of kanguru and it was really good. Service is excelent and all menu options seem pretty great. Give it a try

Uma Agradável Surpresa.
Reservámos a mesa de véspera e à hora marcada, tudo pronto a receber-nos.
Sala superior imaculadamente tratada, com decoração simples mas extremamente acolhedora.
(Amavelmente, no final da refeição, foi-nos sugerida visita à sala inferior ,que se revelou espaço ainda mais extraordinário)
A experiência gastronómica, que incluiu o crocante de crocodilo, prato de salmão e um bife da vazia australiano, a que se juntou a típica pavlova australiana e uma tarte de chocolate, foi simplesmente do melhor que pudemos saborear nos últimos tempos.
Excelente confeção e apresentação.
Ótima relação preço/qualidade, a que acresce a simpatia e acolhimento do staff.
No final, o chef veio despedir-se pessoalmente, onde tivemos oportunidade de agradecer a experiência.
De notar que este espaço abriu há pouco mais de 3 meses e, muito provavelmente, irá destacar-se pela qualidade de tudo o que apresenta.
A recomendar (e a repetir) sem hesitação.

Amazing place with delicious food for a good price and friendly staff. The desserts were the highlight of the meal and i highly recommend it. Only thing missing is more welcoming decoration.

Cozinha Australiana, o leque de opções é claro português e inglês. Detalhes são explicados cuidadosamente e claramente e corresponde. Tem uma apresentação excelente o espaço é os pratos. Local dispõe de 2 pisos.
A recepção e despedida é muito agradável e o local tem sempre música calma.
