Found this restaurant both on a list left by our host and on google search " restaurants near me".
It is special, traditional with tables close to each other, bright and BUSY....we went on a Monday evening 19.30...place opens only at 19.00 and shuts at 22.00.
Wonderful menu of both traditional and local dishes. Good wine selection.
I recommend you book as this place is very popular with locals and visitors.
Note they do not except credit cards and only debit cards if you bank in Portugal...dinner for four with bottle of wine, soft drinks and desserts €95 all in.

Erreichbar mit der historischen Tram 28, dann noch ca. 150 Meter zu Fuß. Relativ kleines, authentisches Speiselokal, "gutbürgerlich", einheimische Küche. Sehr gut besucht (nach unserem Eindruck viele Einheimische), daher möglichst reservieren. Uns hat's recht gut gefallen und geschmeckt.

I did not have a good experience. I stopped by for dinner on Wednesday night at eight o'clock with five members of the family, we stood at the door for ten minutes waiting for a member of staff to seat us, there was a eight seaters table available but they refused to offer us because we would not fill all chairs. Best to look for other options.

Ja, es ist voll, hell und laut und man wartet auf einen Platz. Aber was man bekommt, ist fantastisch, wenn man originale Küche erwartet. Gegrillte Seezunge mit Bohnengemüse (,das man klassisch selbst mit Olivenöl, Salz und Pfeffer am Tisch würzt) und Kartoffeln, Venusmuscheln mit Brot für den Sud und frisches Obst haben uns erfreut. Kellner top!

A dinner of a life time! Best staff, amazing food for all with steak lovers, seafood lovers and french frie lovers! Portions are large and can be shared by a family. They gave us bread, olives and a cheese plate before we even could get seated in our seats! We ordered too much food but it was great to share and try a little bite of everything. The kids had a great time and the staff was so sweet. They helped us order. Get here early or you will have to wait. We had great wine and desserts. I highly recommend this restaurant

Arrived here without a booking just after they had opened at 7.00pm and there were a few locals already eating their dinner. After some gentle persuasion managed to get accepted as a table of seven as long as we ate straight away, despite there being lots of bookings from about 7.30pm onwards - which was lucky. Within 30mins the restaurant was full of pre-booked dinners and there was a queue out of the door and up the street.
The food was great - home cooked Portugese style - my personal favourites out of the dishes I tried were the Garlic Prawns and the small fried fish, but everyone's meals were great. The cheese with crusty bread as a starter was a first for me - but was also delicious. Remember to leave space for your other dishes though as the portions are large!
With two bottles of wine, beers, water, some desserts and coffees it came to about €25-30 each - which considering we were stuffed was a very good deal. I would highly recommend this place - but book ahead or be prepared to wait!

Incredibly, incedibly disappointed considering reading the reviews. The waiters were completely indifferent to the point of being rude. No smile, no welcome, nothing. No help with the menu. The menu has no prices on it. It doesn't tell you what sides you get with the main. I ordered the mixed grill meats and they were seared to the point of being completely dry. No differentiation between the meats. Rice was bland as were the fries. No greens. My wife had the small fish. Again, just palatable. The bread was great. Was surprised you had to ask for and pay for butter to have with it. Waiters did not even acknowledge people waiting uncomfortably for a table. A simple 'be right with you', would have been nice. Many people left. To be honest the indifference was shocking.
Maybe a lot of these positive reviews are from locals. Maybe they are treated better. But we are friendly, paying customers and expected some respect in kind.
My wife and I are completely easy going and are not finicky eaters and we were very excited to eat here but overall our meal was terrible. Run, don't walk from this restaurant.

This a hundred percent local experience with great family cooking. It is what l call down to earth food focused only on eating experience. It is a typical tasca , meaning the ambiance is not relevant but what counts is only the food and the food. It is located in the historical Bairro Alto district. Reservation is a must. Otherwise you will need to queue up at the door with a dozen or more people waiting and hoping for the lucky ones to eat fast and leave. They serve local examples of fish and meat. The portions are abundant. Very tasty. The service is extremely friendly and caring . It is certainly a place by now discovered also by the tourists. But there is no discrimination whether you are a local or a tourist. It offers an affordable solution for a gourmet cooking. Congratulations!

Un restaurant souvent bien rempli et bruyant. La clientèle est abondante et n'a pas peur de partager ses conversations avec le reste de la salle. Il peut être difficile de trouver une place et d'y tenir une conversation.
Le serveur a été agréable et a compris notre français sans problème. Nos plats ont été servis plutôt rapidement. J'ai commandé du veau avec des champignons. La nourriture est abondante dans tous les plats, rares sont ceux qui auront la place pour un dessert, sachez-le.
Je n'ai pas goûté le poisson mais apparemment celui-ci est bon. Les poissons et la viande sont servis avec beaucoup d'huile dans tous les cas. La nourriture est simple dans l'ensemble, mais bon marché. Ne vous attendez pas du gastronomique et évitez si vous n'aimez pas le poisson. Respectable mais pas excellent. 3/5

Absolutely delicious home style Lisbon food. A bit indifferent service but probably the language gap did not help.. I think it's part of the vibe as well, like NYC Chinatown, you don't expecting waiters gushing over you. The place gets super packed, glad I got there on the early side and I was lucky to get seated. There's a reason the lines are out the door... incredibly good fish, fresh sides. This would definitely be my go-to if I were in the neighborhood. Good prices, and it was nice to see families and older folks having a wonderful time. It clearly take good care of their regulars, no problem with that.

Excelente comida, em doses generosas. O restaurante estava completo e o serviço, sendo sempre simpático, pareceu sobrecarregado, com tempos de espera um tanto longos e - consequência também do espaço acanhado em que tinham de se movimentar e cruzar - um pouco confuso às vezes. Mas de novo... Óptima comida!

Good local food, but we weren't local and so sort of got forgotten. My grouper was great, but they forgot to bring my salad. Also charged us for water we never asked for or opened. Another waiter apologized he was embarrassed, our waiter was his boss

Tout d'abord nous avions téléphoné à 18h afin de réserver une table pour le soir même. La personne nous a dit que tt était complet et quil fallait venir faire la queue en espérant trouver une table.
A 19h15 nous décidâmes de tenter notre chance ,nous restame 15 min dans l'entrée attendant qu'une personne daigne nous accueillir dans ce restaurant vide... jusqu'à ce que quelqu'un arrive et nous dise que nous pouvions choisir n'importe quelle table parmi les 90% vide.
Nous avons eu un service basique et expéditif, 3 plats de poissons baignants dans l'huile et entourées de garniture a la limite du mangeable...
Ne prennent uniquement les cartes portugaises soit disant et l'addition est posée sur la table sur un Ipad...
bref immense déception par rapports à tous les commentaires que nous avions pu voir.

Typical Portuguese restaurant in Alfama. Every time we go near, they are a waiting queue. Lot of locals and foreigners go there. So, it seems a good restaurant. We would like to try it during our holidays but we don't have enough time. Just for information, you cannot eat outside.

This restaurant was recommended to us by a local and it was the best place we dined at in Lisbon. Good staff, great food and drink, nice atmosphere, and at a reasonable price. Mains seem to come with rice *and* chips, rather than with any green veges, so you may get want to factor in getting a side salad with your meal.

A comida é boa, mais o servizo non acompaña para unha experiencia positiva. Primeiro tivemos que apretarnos para meternos a máis xente arredor. Logo á hora do pago; coa excusa de aforrar a comisión do banco, tivemos que pagar ao contado. (Supoño que a excusa... era para quedarse cos euros da volta)

Um dos poucos locais que passou pela vaga de turismo sem alterar qualidade e preços. Será o melhor restaurante e mais honesto da Graça neste momento. A qualidade é óptima assim como o tamanho das doses. Uma dose dará para duas pessoas sem grandes problemas. O atendimento é também à antiga Lisboa. Local a não evitar em situação alguma.

Uns wurde das Restaurant von unserem Tourführer empfohlen. Leider wurden wir zu tiefst enttäuscht. Alles wurde einfach nur auf den Tisch gelegt, es gab kein Glas mit eos für die Cola, keine Weingläser für Sangria etc.
die Muscheln hatten noch massiv Sand in ihnen. Die Lammrippen waren sehr ölig.
Dann würden wir für Sachen berechnet, die wir gar nicht hatten...
Fazit, würde ich nicht noch mal hingehen ...

Comida realmente portuguesa, platos abundantes, precios locales, y la atención agradable; te explican sus platos, vinos recomendados según tu plato y son muy amigables. Lo recomiendo 100% pero eso si, siempre se hace cola así que trata de ir antes que estés muerto de hambre.

Très bon restaurant. Nous avons hésité car Google indiquait que la réservation était obligatoire mais ce n'était pas le cas. Nous sommes arrivés vers 20h un mardi soir d'août (et c'était l'un des seuls restaurants ouverts cette semaine-là) et nous n'avons pas attendu.
Nous avons pris du poisson (morue à 13 €, sole à 15 €) et du veau (environ 12 €). Tout y était très bon. Le vin était bon et de très bon rapport qualité prix (9,50 € la bouteille). Les desserts étaient aussi peu onéreux et goutus.

chi va a Lisbona non può mancarlo. Arrivare alle 19.00 per trovare subito posto. alle 20 c'é già coda.
Solo andando li per capire quanto sono gentili e quanto buono é il loro cibo. Porzioni abbondanti, volendo due piatti si mangiano in 3. Noi abbiamo mangiato 2 piatti per 2 persone. Erano troppo buoni x dividerli.

La comida es de poca calidad y el servicio no muy atento. Comida aceitosa. Ademas muy poco comodo no poder pagar con tarjeta... Solo aceptan metalico o tarjetas portuguesas. Te traen la cuenta en ipad y no puedes pagar con tarjeta. Un poco atrasado por ser la capital

Huge portions mostly pork and deep fried fish served in a lot of olive oil.
It is very busy, perhaps because of the good TripAdvisor reviews. It is also very noisy with little space between the tables.

Quantity vs Quality? QUANTITY WINS HERE!
The food is too soaked in oil and it is impossible to eat, unless your body is your enemy. The presentation of the food is messy and you will surely loose your appetite right away. Moreover, the place is pretty crowded and the acoustic makes impossible to have a conversation.
This place is NOT worthy.

Comida tradicionalíssima portuguesa. Fomos inúmeras vezes e foram sempre experiências agradáveis. O bacalhau do Pitéu é di-vi-no! As sobremesas também são surpreendentes! Especialmente o arroz doce e a mousse de chocolate. Tem que reservar mesa, e o ideal é chegar cedo para evitar fila. O preço é razoável para Lisboa.

Fazia algum tempo que tencionava ir a este conhecido restaurante do Largo Da Graça que já várias vezes me tinha sido recomendado. Finalmente, o momento chegou: As entradas onde figuravam o típico queijo com marmelada, azeitonas e pão, eram apenas medianas, sendo as azeitonas algo duras e ácidas o queijo apenas razoável (com agravante de ser pasteurizado) e o pão bolas de mistura de fermentação rápida, que se podem encontrar numa multiplicidade de espaços comerciais que não respeitam minimamente este nobre produto, ao invés de pão regional de qualidade que era aquilo que um restaurante deste tipo deveria servir. Os pratos principais pedidos foram “iscas de porco à portuguesa”, “rim de porco grelhado guarnecido” e chocos, cujo método de confecção não consegui apurar. As iscas estavam bem confeccionadas, tenras e com o nível de acidez correcta mas acompanhadas de batata cozida cuja qualidade ficava claramente aquém daquilo que esta proteína animal merecia. O rim era razoável só que acompanhado de um arroz francamente mal confeccionado, ainda com “coração” que revelava faltarem ainda uns minutos para a sua cozedura integral e com um excesso inadmissível de gordura. O choco encontrava-se igualmente mal confeccionado estando bastante duro (e não denso mas macio como era expectável), num molho excessivamente gorduroso e “pesado” que emprestava ao prato um paladar enjoativo. O aroma intenso a caril, não acrescentava nada ao prato e era perfeitamente dispensável. Nas sobremesas, apenas o “quindim de coco” de destacava minimamente pela positiva (embora excessivamente doce), pois o “cheese cake” era confeccionado com natas ao invés de queijo, sendo o crocante extremamente doce e seco. O único destaque claramente positivo e sem reservas vai para o “vinho da casa”, com taninos equilibrados, boa acidez, notas agradáveis de compota preta e chocolate. Os funcionários foram correctos no trato e profissionais. Relativamente ao espaço, trata-se de um típico restaurante deste segmento, informal, com um design que não ganhará prémios num futuro próximo e iluminação com uma temperatura de cor excessivamente branca. No geral, mais um restaurante que embora cumpra os critérios mínimos, não se destaca em nenhum parâmetro.

Es un sitio donde se come bien pero hay colas para comer y por si fuera poco estar 50 minutos esperando para una mesa, si hay algún portugués que llegue después de ti, pasará primero por el hecho de ser portugués.
Nos quedamos sin comer postre porque también sirven primero a los locales.

On the table no cutlery ready for me
No bread serving either i'm having it or not. Later the server gave me butter knife and fork for my meal. (Probably he wants to make a fun of me eating fish with butter knife/ even next table people look the server i weirdly way) so I asked for proper knife and he said 'No?' In twisted way. And finally I got my dish which wasn't my dish. I ordered mackerel and he gave me fried sardines. At that time I cannot handle it. So I told him I'm leaving since he didn't give me proper meal. And he kept saying that was mackerel. And point out the name of the menu " small fried ..." which wasn't mackerel and kept saying that was mackerel. I'm traveler and I have been lived in Canada, Scotland and England over 15 years . I know what I order and I know what's the good service and I know people's behavior of racism. Because I'm a Asian looking and they behave like that ?! Very disappointed and hope they are living in 21st century.

Leider ein Enttäuschung. Das Personal hat lieber TV geschaut, als sich um die wenigen Gäste zu kümmern. Der Bacalao war salzig und nicht fertig gegart. Das hat zwei weitere Versuche gebraucht - dann war der Fisch schwarz/knusprig und zäh. Dazu gab's Kichererbsen und Kartoffel, alles gut in Olivenöl gebadet. Weitere Gewürze - Fehlanzeige.

Tasty food, very big portions, efficient but soulless and unsmiling service. They did not pick up the phone so could not make a reservation were at the door at opening hour and could thus be seated. Got quiete crowded around 8 and only those with reservations could be accepted.

Abbiamo mangiato in questo ristorante e anche negli altri nella stessa piazza: a nostro avviso non è meglio degli altri, anzi abbiamo trovato meno scelta, mia moglie ha chiesto un orata e non c'era, una sogliola nemmeno... molta confusione in sala, vino della casa probabilmente alla spina.... Siamo stati meglio di fronte, al Churrasco della Graca, brace a vista, molto disponibili ed è anche più economico...

I am surprised at all the good reviews and the queues outside the restaurant. We ate there tonight and it was very salty and very very greasy. Honestly very disappointed, it was twice the price we paid at another local restaurant the night before and not even nearly half as good. Would never go there again, such a disappointment this is like a factory, get in, get out and for the price, it's really not worth it

We were recommended this local restaurant by our airbnb host in Grace. We were not disappointed.You should reserve a table as it is very popular with the locals otherwise you might be waiting a long time for a table. We were a party of nine and we were all delighted with our meal. Generous portions of wholesome local food were served . The waiters were very informative and friendly and they suggested a local fado bar for us to visit. We thought the food was very reasonably priced for the quality of food and service offered. Overall a memorable experience for our kast night in Lisbon.We would definitely recommend this lovely restaurant.

Ich habe heute gelernt, dass man an einem guten Restaurant in Lissabon immer anstehen muss. Also haben wir das O Pitéu Restaurant Graca mal ausprobiert. Wir mussten nur 10 Minuten warten um einen Tisch zu bekommen, die Belegschaft ist auf Zack, immer in Eile wenn der Laden brummt, da kann es auch mal vorkommen dass nicht genug Zeit ist den Wein auch noch einzuschenken. Es gibt traditionelle portugiesische Küche, wir hatten Bacalhau (Kabeljau) nach Art des Hauses, Schnitzel und Octopus. Alles frisch und gut zubereitet, keine Gourmet-Küche aber solide portugiesische Hausmannskost. Die Preise sind angemessen, das Ambiente ok.

Serveur à qui on demande 3 plats pour 7 enfants, qui nous dit OK ça devrait suffire, au final nous en fait payer 6, tout ça servi dans 2 plats dont la moitié n à pas été consommé..... Du gâchis et une note au final salée. Quelque soit le plat, tout baigne dans 3cm d'huile. Et les inévitables olives, pains, etc servi à table et que l'on vous facture une fortune pour se faire du gras sur le client......... Je déconseille vivement........

Un conseil réserver à l'avance ou alors n'ayez pas peur d'attendre à l'entrée ! Amateur de poissons et de crustacés, nous avons dégusté des palourdes à la portugaise et des filets de dorade grillée, un délice ! Esprit cantine dans ce restaurant il y règne une très bonne ambiance. Je recommande !

Das Lokal öffnet abends um 19.00 Uhr. Um diese Zeit bekommt man noch einen Platz, wenn man nicht reserviert hat. Eine halbe Stunde später ist es knallvoll und ist auch durch die sehr enge Bestuhlung leider nicht segr gemütlich. Für die Kellner war es sicherlich nicht einfach in dieser Enge ihren Job zu meistern.
Wir hatten gegrillte Seezunge und Spaghetti mit panierten Schweineschnitzel. Der Fisch war hoffnungslos versalzen. Wir mussten die Haut entfernen, damit er einigermaßen genießbar war. Die Kartoffeln waren nur leicht mit Olivenöl überzogen und die grünen Bohnen gedünstet ohne, dass sie gewürzt wurden.
Die Spaghetties waren nur in etwas Gemüsebrühe gegart, ansonsten leider ohne Geschmack. Die kleinen panierten Schnitzel waren geschmacklich in Ordnung. Preis war auch o.k..Im großen und ganzen würde ich eher sagen, dass es sich vielleicht um typisch portugiesische Küche handelt, aber für uns kein Lokal, wo wir unbedingt noch einmal hin möchten.

Great, authentic Portuguese food! Ordered the cod which was delicious but slightly on the oily side. The waitstaff was very attentive and brought out bread and olives before the meal which was great since the party was super hungry. Would come back again but hopefully order something with less oil.

Personnel pas très souriant mais on y mange très bien et pour pas très cher. Attention les plats sont très copieux.
Le personnel parle un peu français on arrive donc à se faire comprendre et carte est aussi traduite en français.

Conheci o Pitéu da Graça através da minha filha Amanda, jovem publicitária de Lisboa, profunda conhecedora das Tascas e Restaurantes de Comidas Típicas Portuguesas. O Pitéu tem nos seus pratos o verdadeiro sabor da culinária tradicional portuguesa, lá podemos encontrar, por exemplo, dos melhores pratos de bacalhau, às melhores iscas de fígado de Lisboa, todos preparados com muito esmero.
Se decidir conhecê-lo, não deixe de provar a deliciosa sobremesa Siricaia.

Fantastic local restaurant - not a tourist trap. Simply delicious food and very reasonably priced. Great atmosphere and helpful staff. Our best meal is Lisbon.

Warning to Chinese diners only: the food didn't work out with us.
We ordered four dishes. The shrimp/prawn appetizer was soaked in garlic olive oil (9/10). Considering Portugal is famous for preserved fish in cans, this must be one of the typical local cuisines and we liked it. That turned out to the only highlight of our dinner. The waiter showed us the raw lamb rack, which was fresh and excellent but it turned to nothing special after cooking (6/10). The cod was too salty and overcooked to our taste (2/10). The pork chop was tough and flavorless (1/10). We couldn't finish the last three dishes during the meal and actually trashed pork leftover later.
Fried potato chips was excellent though, I have to say.
Our waiter was attentive, quick, and polite so he was fine. However another waiter close by looked grumpy and he was looking for a target to vent. :)

A comida é agradável, mas nada de surpreendente, o restaurante estava cheio e o barulho era imenso , mal.conseguimos falar na própria mesa, devido o.espaço ter demasiadas mesas para o espaço, estavamos constantemente a ser incomodados com passagens para o escritório, de outros clientes, dos.empregados
