This place was our favorite out of all the places we went in Portugal and Spain! We liked it so much we ate here twice. We got the shrimp both times because it was hands down the best we have ever had. Everything we tried was amazing - salads were also super fresh!

Petit coin sympathique ou l'on mange très bien et ou la bière est bon marché (et très fraîche) Les serveurs y parlent également Français. Par contre, le restaurant est assez petit et nous avons du attendre un petit peu avant de prendre place. Des personnes n'hésitent pas a traverser toute la ville pour y manger

Based on ratings we were expecting a great experience and we were not disappointed. The service is very friendly and efficient, food amazingly tasty. Decor is nice and overall a great experience. Would definitely visit again!

Sehr gutes frisches Essen, nette Bedienung und zwei klasse Chefs.
Sehr zu empfehlen : Blutwurst mit Ananaschutney, Pasta mit Sardinen, gebratene Garnelen mit Knoblauch Koriander Chili und Zitrone, Zunge in Madeira und die typische Portugiesische Wurst. Die Getränke si d auch top.

Couldn’t get a seat here and although that can be typical around Lisbon with small restaurant in high demand the staff was quite rude when we asked if there was a wait or anything. “You cannot eat here unless you reserved, thank you good bye” unfortunately the right words with the wrong tone. Definitely scared us away from wanting to try again.

Locale nel cuore dello splendido quartiere di alfama, con pochi posti a sedere, molto intimo; personale molto gentile e attento, e cucina sopra la media dei ristoranti di Lisbona. Cucina portoghese, leggermente rivisitata. Menù del giorno sempre nuovi e squisiti, buonissima sia la carne, ma soprattutto il pesce (il polpo in particolare), tutti i piatti sono serviti con contorni giusti e molto saporiti.

Wir haben einen Chef/Mitarbeiter angetroffen, der der unfreundlichste Kontakt während der gesamten Lissabonreise war. Da uns der zugewiesene Tisch nicht gefallen hat und wir gefragt hatten, ob wir uns auch woanders hinsetzen könnten (2 Personen um 18:30) bekamen wir in guten Deutsch die Antwort, dass sei unser Problem und wünschte uns einen schönen Abend. Haben wir dann gemacht. Es gibt sehr sehr gute Alternativen im Umkreis von 100 Metern: Acores na Feira, Os Gazeteiros, ....

This place is an unassuming gem. The waiters are super friendly and helpful, the setting is relaxed and comfortable and not pretentious at all. The best part is the food. Stewed beef and potato puree with nutmeg, steak with tagliatelle and sage butter, the gnocci, all delicious. Someone in the kitchen is really paying attention. Our friends who had seafood dishes were also suitably impressed.

My family and I moved to Europe 18 months ago and have eaten at a number of restaurants all over western and central Europe. The well decorated and unpretentious Bistrô Gato pardo is one of the best we’ve ever eaten at.
We walked past and stopped in on a whim one day and brought the rest of the family the next day for lunch, eating the grilled Golden, sardine penne, the fish soup twice, and several other dishes. All of them were excellent, and three of them for us rank among the very best meals we’ve ever eaten in the US, Canada, or Europe at any price. In particular the sardine penne and fish soup were just spectacular, with perfectly cooked al dente pasta and perfectly balanced, flavourful seasoning.
I can’t claim to be any kind of culinary expert but the only place I’ve eaten several consistently superb dishes is a ridiculously expensive celebrity chef place in Brooklyn. Nothing else compares.
The next time we come to Lisbon this will be the first and last place we eat.

Still the best meal we had in our whole stay in Lisbon, very comfortable and friendly place with waiters that could speak more than 5 languages together!
Reservations are recommended due to the size of the bistro.
Highly recommend the Octopus noodles or the traditional strout beers.
Cakes are a must with a cup of coffee to enjoy the evening.

Mit dem Besitzer muss man erst etwas warm werden aber dann ist alles perfekt.
Das Essen (2 verschiedene Fischgerichte) war exzellent. Es gab eine gute Beratung zu Essen und Wein (auf deutsch). Das Ambiente war sehr nett und gemütlich.
Am Ende des Tages hatten wir ein perfektes Restauranterlebnis zu einem angemessenen Preis.

고수 없었으면 맛있었을지 모르지만 아무튼 고수때문에 다른맛을 느낄수가 없어서 제대로된 식사를 할수 없었음
진짜 일사병 걸릴것같던 와중에 오렌지주스가 너무 시원하고 맛있었어서 2점

Lo encontramos de casualidad y ¡qué suerte tuvimos! La comida estaba muy buena (en la foto la pasta con pulpo - ¡espectacular!). El único inconveniente es que es un sitio pequeño y nos sentaron en la mesa (preguntando primero, eso si) a otras tres personas. Pero dejando de lado eso, muy recomendable incluso para tomar café y una tartita (recomiendo la de limón).

Pour nous le meilleur resto de Lisbonne. C'est vraiment le meilleur des restaurants dans le quelle nous avons manger à Lisbonne. Une vrais découverte. Située dans une petite rue calme avec une belle vue sur l'église juste à côté. Une carte varié avec des spécialités du Portugal ( boudins griller, poissons et autres spécialités portugaise). Une cuisine avec des produits frais et de qualités. Penser à réserver pour êtres sûr d'avoir une table. Je vous recommande vivement ce petit restaurant. Vous ne serez vraiment pas déçu.

Kleine eetgelegenheid zoals er vele in deze wijk zijn. Wij namen aanbevolen gerechten, die niet op de kaart stonden. Dit was nog niet onder controle. De eend was kurkdroog en de bijbehorende groenten grijs gekookt. Misschien van de kaart wat beter?

It seems to be a genuine place in Afalma. A bit far from anything touristic, but worth visiting. Design is lovely, but it is really a little place so you better reserve a table in advance. The menu is not a massive but food is good, with local dishes. The portions look big but only because of a lot of salad on them. Their drink menu consists of wine, bottled beer, and sangria. You are more than welcome if you are not a solo traveler.

Super! Unserer Meinung nach eins der besten Restaurants in Lissabon. Die Gerichte waren sehr lecker und ihren Preis absolut wert, an hochwertigen Zutaten wurde nicht gespart. Auch der Service war super freundlich und es ist auch Kartenzahlung möglich. Es ist das einzige Restaurant, was wir mehrmals besucht haben und wir kommen gerne wieder.

Wir waren hier auf Empfehlung eines guten Freundes. Und wir wurden nicht enttäuscht. Eine kleine, aber exquisite Karte mit wirklich sehr leckeren und hausgemachten Gerichten, dazu eine sehr nette und freundliche Bedienung, die auch Deutsch spricht und für einen Schnack zu haben ist, was will man mehr. Die Preise sind für portugiesische Verhältnisse recht intensiv, aber ich habe selten ein so wahnsinnig gutes Steak gegessen. Dazu ein leckeres Bier und einen Ginja und der Abend ist perfekt. Unbedingte Empfehlung

Bistrot vraiment sympa, l'accueil est chaleureux avec de la bienveillance et une pointe d'humour . Les plats que nous avons mangés ( boulettes de viande avec riz ou purée et choux de Bruxelles) étaient délicieux et suffisants pour un soir Le tiramisu orange est une merveilleuse surprise quand à la sangria nous ne pouvons que vous la recommander . Tout cela avec une excellente musique des années 80/90 . Un endroit où il faut aller !!!!!

The food was tasty, we ordered some of the vegetarian dishes. I ordered the prawns for 11 euros, I was expecting the larger prawns that are typical of Lisbon but they were regular small prawns that had a tough texture like they had been frozen and quickly cooked. So I would say their seafood is neither fresh nor quality, but the sauce it was in was atleast tastey. I was hoping it would be better quality food for being more expensive.

Stumbled upon this cafe on our walk to Castelo de Sao Jorge, and what a lucky event that was, being a big time cat person. We arrived shortly after opening and were able to get a coveted outdoor seat- the perfect laid back place for a wine and some snacks. Everything we ate was perfect and our waiter was very kind and patient with my lousy attempts at speaking Portuguese.

Ristorantino molto intimo, veramente carino. Il titolare è parecchio simpatico e il personale è molto gentile. Parlano inglese ma capiscono un leggero italiano. I prezzi sono in linea con i luoghi simili del posto ed i piatti sono molto buoni (unica nota negativa forse l'impiattamento e l'abuso di olio negli antipasti). Consiglio se cercate un posticino carino e volete gustarvi piatti tipici del posto.

Restaurant qui réchauffe ses plats: en 05 minutes chrono nos 2 repas étaient servis. J'avais demandé à ce que mon plat soit un petit peu épicé mais non puisque c'est du réchauffé on n'a pas le choix: soit c'est épicé soit ça ne l'est pas.
La réputation est très au dessus de la réalité. La nourriture est bonne mais pas meilleure. Par contre ici le patron se moque de vous! Bref une adresse qui a pris la grosse tête! En plus il faut réserver, ce qui est plutôt rarissime pour un bistro.

The atmosphere is extremely cosy and home like. The food is extremely good and made with great care. Everything from the menu, which changes constantly and has fresh ingredients, tastes really good.
The staff is very friendly as well, and overall this esily became out favorite place in lisbon.

Avoid this place. After shortly waiting for a table that was freeing up we were sat, ordered sangria and had decided on what to have. Unfortunately we were kicked out before we had a chance to go any further (10 minutes after we had sat down), apparently there was another reservation and they messed it up. Our only option, to sit outside in the rain. That's no way to treat a customer, would make anyone feel like they are a second class customer.
Looking at other reviewers this seems like a trend.

I agree with the previous poster: bad service can ruin good food. Actually, I can’t comment on the food. We were seated, had enough time for two of us to visit their tiny single toilet, and ask for some Sangria before they told us they screwed up and the table we were at was supposed to have been reserved and we had to get up and sit outside in the cold and rain if we still wanted to eat there. We did admittedly get an apology, but who cares about that? Who wants to eat out in the cold and rain, after sitting down already?
Avoid this place. The service stinks.

After being sat down for 10min we were told to vacate the place because someone else had made a reservation . Made no attempt to actually even offer anything. I say avoid this place for the service.

Unfortunately bad service can destroy any culinary experience, and in this case, it has been so unpleasant, so unprofessional and so unexpectedly irresponsible, that eventhough the food itself was nice, and the first courses even great, our experience here was awful.
It's a long story, but to make it short: if the waiter misinforms you, the solution they offer ends up in ruining your meal, with waiting time, food returns cold and yet they show no interest asking why isn't it eaten, then management is threatening you and in the end you are yelled at, for standing on your rights as a costumer - it's not a place to recommend...

Cadre intimiste et chaleureux. Plats d'excellentes qualités, peut être un peu plus cher par rapport à d'autres restaurants portugais mais la qualité est telle que l'on oublie vite cette légère différence. Le personnel est très sympathique, souriant et à l'écoute. Nous avons passé une excellente soirée dans ce restaurant.

Called 4 times to make an reservation. No one answers the phone. Then we took the risk to walk to the Bistro. Fortunately a table was free and sit down. Tables near to us were marked with a reservation card. We waited 5 minutes then the chef came and told us that the table was for reservation. And put the reservation card in front of our nose. We had to leave.....

Je crois que nous n'avons pas été dans le même resto. C'était très chère et pas très bon (pour le prix). C'est le seul resto pas bien de Lisbonne que j'ai fait. Un conseil pour ce qui veulent choisir un resto (si les 3/4 des commentaires sont des touristes n'y allais pas) je me suis fait avoir une fois mais pas deux !

Die Bedienung war freundlich und beantwortete alle Fragen zu unserer vollsten Zufriedenheit.
Die Getränke und die Lage waren auch wunderbar.

Lo consiglio per fare bella figura, é un piccolo ristorante molto caratteristico sì frequentato da turisti, ma con il cibo e l'atmosfera che si respira ti fa vivere dentro una vera taverna portoghese
LOCALE 9: interno tipico ma anche ricercato, anche se piccolo lo spazio sul tavolo e tra i tavoli é sufficiente per non prendersi a gomitate
MENÚ 9: il baccalà e l'altro cibo tipico era molto buono, le insalate abbondanti, l'offerta molto varia
SERVIZIO 9: gentile, cortese, simpatico il gestore, pulito l'ambiente e preciso il servizio

Beatiful meals on the terasse, a nice and sweet music coming from the inside... The magic has been done, I was in!
A simple and perfect warm cocoon.
The owner has welcomed me warmly, his coworker has adviced me a nice seasoned octopus salad and a beer. Just perfect!
After hours walking in the streets, the Bistrô Gato pardo was my hidden garden.

Genial e adorável! Uma das mais mais fantásticas decorações, várias coleções, desde chapéis a miniaturas. O atendimento é bom, mas poderia ser melhor. Tem ótimas opções de bebidas, mas para comer é melhor ir a um restaurante, pois só servem amendoins e alguns sanduíches.

Amazing restaurant! Great view if you’re sitting outside. The food were delicious. The owner was really nice. You can see that it’s very important for him that the customer will feel comfortable and he paid attention to all the small details. There was a great service and good price.

An amazing bistro with a wonderful staff and incredible food! The specials are definitely worth considering; the octopus was perfect, as was the grilled salmon. Book a table, though, as they get full; they had to turn several tables away each night we were there. Special thanks to Mario for making us feel so welcome!

We loved this restaurant, returning twice in a five-day stay in the city. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the food is excellent, and the chocolate cake is divine... :)

Parfait pour un pique nique! Réservé a 18h30, pas de problème j'ai une table disponible pour 21h... en arrivant on nous installe sur un coffre, on boit une sangria, le serveur pose des couverts.... on ne va pas manger là? Si si mais si vous attendez 10 minutes supplémentaires vous aurez une table dixit le patron.... 10 minutes plus tard le repas arrive... on n'a pas une table? Non mais vous pouvez partir c'est comme vous voulez! Sauf qu'à 21h30 tu termines au mc do... bref la réputation est très au dessus de la réalité. La nourriture est bonne mais pas meilleure qu' o carvoeiro (calçada de sao vicente) où nous avons été très bien accueillis. Par contre ici le patron se moque de vous! Bref une adresse qui a pris la grosse tête! En plus ils n'acceptent pas la carte bleue...

My wife, two young daughters and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Bistro Gato Pardo. The staff we wonderful - friendly, informative and welcoming. They took great care of us with recommendations for both ourselves and the kids. Dinner was great, as was the dessert. If they have the Lime Cheesecake on offer (it is a rotation special), get one for everyone at the table -- it was light and fantastic.

Sitio con decoración muy acogedor pero la comida es cara (en Lisboa se puede comer mucho mejor por menos dinero) no así las bebidas e infusiones. Típico lugar para hipsters, modernos y los que van para poder contar que han estado. Muy ruidoso, me parecía que todo el mundo hablaba alto para "ser escuchado" por los demás. Personalmente prefiero algo un poco más auténtico y natural.

Get spot for a delicious bite. We stopped after a visit to the Thieves Market. Had the mixed starter for 26 Euro. Not cheap but a lot of great tasting food. Really delicious with friendly service.

It was pleasure to eat here. Ordered 3 kind of dishes for 2 and I was full (grilled tuna with mushrooms in coconut sauce, octopus salad, fried shrimps with jalapeno). Everything was excellent! The staff is very kind and helpful. Great place!

For our last dinner in Portugal we selected Bistro Gato. It was a great hit with my wife and daughter who are both vegetarians. My son and I also were extremely pleased with the meat options. Everything had wonderful flavors and the atmosphere was relaxing and exactly what we were looking for. Highly recommended.

Its a really cozy place - the host is a friendly guy who speaks multiple languages. The chef asked us about our opinion and was chill as well. The food was very good, although not cheap. The average dish is about 12€ - worth it.

Endroit des plus agréables pour ceux qui aiment manger dans un restaurant intimiste. Bien qu'étant à deux pas du quartier plus vivant de l'Alfama, ce restaurant est un peu à part, joliment décoré avec une équipe aux petits soins. Carte donnant l'eau à la bouche, les plats sont goûtus et bien servis. Allez-y les yeux fermés tout en n'oubliant pas de réserver!

Wanted to eat there. The server said it was full, but after us a Portuguese couple came, didn't had a table reserved, but nevertheless they got a table immediately. I just didn't feel welcome at all.
Whatever there are lots of other places in Lisboa...

Delightful place for lunch above the Alfama. Had an absolutely great salad and 1/2 liter of wine in this most charming little bistro. Great service and food that is carefully prepared and cared for. Off the main tourist track.

Great food! Fresh local products. Came here for lunch. To start, we had olives that were amazing and the octopus salad was excellent. We had a salad and the curried hake, both delicious. MUST get the sangria! Wine was delicious too! Overall excellent local spot.

Wir waren 3 Wochen in ganz Portugal unterwegs, aber das ist in Summe das Beste Lokale das wir besucht haben. Fantastisches Essen ( hervorragende Fischsuppe, Pasta mit Octopus ) ungezwungen, nette, freundliche und aufmerksame Bedienung und wirklich günstige Preise.
Mag auch daran liegen, dass die Betreiber lange in der Schweiz und in Deutschland waren und daher einiges an Qualität mitbringen. Uneingeschränkt zu empfehlen! Top Tipp!

Not a tourist trap, but definitely not a place worth eating if you're on a short trip. Lisbon has so much more to offer culinary wise. Food was over spiced, boring and average tasting.

Amabilísimos, profesionales, carta apetecible.
Comimos ensalada de pulpo ( exquisita, con bastante cantidad para ser un entrante. Tenía un toque como de escabeche casero delicioso) y ensalada de jamon queso de cabra.
Después de andar todo el día pudimos por fin encontrar un lugar que diera de comer a las 17h y fue una excelente elección.
Hay que probar la cerveza Tagus.

Camareros muy amables y atentos. Lo encontramos ya por la tarde cuando muchos locales están cerrados o no sirven comida. Probamos la ensalada de pulpo y la bistro, ambas abundantes y sabrosas. Local agradable por dentro. Recomendable.

Tout est parfait
Le patron qui parle le français nous a très aimablement conseillé. Nous avons mangé du filet mignon de veau rôti avec de la polenta dans un jus de viande aux herbes et ail.
Nous ne pouvons que conseiller ce restaurant qui sort de l'ordinaire souvent fade et graisseux de beaucoup de restaurants de l'Alfama.

Super endroit pour partager un bon repas. Le service et les plats sont excellents. Ce petit bistro est aussi fréquenté par les lisboètes avec qui nous pouvons nous retrouver à la même table. Nous y sommes allés 2 fois. N'oublier pas de réserver !

This charming spot was truly a food highlight in Lisbon. The cafe is beyond cute with lots of cat pictures and personal touches. Loved the special salad with goat cheese and my the best ginger ale I've ever had! Great service (leisurely as Lisbon should be). Highly recommended.

Definitely the best address we've tried in Lisbon! Not particularly typical, but good ambiant, excellent service, very friendly and funny staff, and excellent food! Not the cheapest place (58€ for two, 2 starters, 2 main courses, 2 coffees, à bottle of wine) but worth the price.

Accueil très chaleureux par la serveuse. De très bon conseil pour nos plats. Le patron parle français est aussi très sympa.
Salade de poulpe extra et pâtes aux sardines très bonnes. Dessert pommes au four au vin et épices et tiramisu pour finir un très bon repas. Addiction de 60 euros avec une bouteille de vin pour deux personnes. Parfait ! À recommander.

Klein und fein! Sowohl der bestellte Kaffee (mit leichter Kaffeegewürznote) als auch die zugehörigen Kuchen (Schokokuchen mit Geschmack nach Mousse au Chocolate und Zitronenkuchen mit echtem Zitronensaftgeschmack) waren exzellent. Eine ebenfalls noch konsumierte hausgemachte Mangocreme war auch hervorragend.
Nettes Ambiente mit Witz und Geschmack arrangiert, und sogar noch deutsche Sprachkenntnisse mit Sprackurs für portugiesische Bestellung. Sehr empfehlenswert, wir werden dort nochmal auftauchen.

Great food, try anything from sancwiches to meal of the day and you won't be disappointed. Nice athmosphere, customer friendly service and exellent value for your money.
