We joined a visit tour in English. We didn't know anything about Quinta do Bomfim, but we found it very interesting in terms of history of wine and company. I think the taste of wine will be totally different before and after hearing some explanations.

Great wine tasting experience, which is a must if you past by the douro valley. The price range from 17 euros to about 35 euros for the tour + tasting per person. If you are not a fan of wine but want to taste for the experience, I reccomand one person taking the full tasting with the tour and the other only the tour. You will still get 3 glasses to taste and can split them (asuming you are 2 people). The visit is 45 mi and very interesting, you will learn a lot. The view from their terrasse is beautiful. Book ahead online !

Beautiful vineyard and perfectly wine tasting. Highly recommended to hike up to the hill to gain an gorgeous view of the river.
Staff give professional advice on Port wine selection. Very friendly and warm.
Highly recommended if you came by train and would like to get an quick understanding on Port wine as well as enjoy the view of the Douro valley.

Excelente visita! Hicimos el tour en español con Claudia y fue todo excelente, nos transmitió todo su conocimiento y amor por el vino oporto. Nos recomendó probar 2 degustaciones distintas para notar la diferencia entre los oportos tradicionales y los vintages.

A visita foi excelente e a degustação de vinhos também. Os dow's são excelentes e aqui é o lugar para experimentar! O staff foi muito atencioso e a localização da cave é maravilhosa. Vale a pena a visita!

At the beginning we ask for a tasting it was impossible in the bar . You can just order one glass of each wine...
Good point it was the girl she do the effort to speak in French and was very interesting.
But the bad point it was the plate of meat at the beginning all the waiters sayd we don't have and finally he found .

We had a wonderful port tasting here overlooking the beautiful view from the verandah of the tasting room. Our host on the day, Fernanda, was super lovely and helpful and made sure that we had the pick of the bunch on the day. All of the wines we tasted were delicious and it was such a beautiful setting. All the staff who came in to contact with were very polite and smiley. Highly recommend.

Very kind staff and service. Of course it is a wonderful winery serving top wines! I was there alone and wanted to taste more wines, the somelier was so kind and friendly and arranged half glasses for some of the varieties. Unfortunately I was tight on train scheduled and couldn't finish all of them, but sure do I remember how they affected my palates..!! My favorite was the 20 yr Tawny, from Dow's. Definitely recommenable for visits to this area!!

Pretty buildings and good view to the river. Parking is available and free. No food or snacks are served with the wine tasting. Place looked empty, however we were not able to join tours as we didn't have prior reservations.

Easy walk from the Pinhao train station. Great tour and multiple tastings to choose from including still table wines in addition to ports. Walking trails through the vineyard are open to guests. The Altano Branco is such a great deal we bought 2 bottles! Sad that they can’t ship to the US! Definitely large and commercial but a great place to stop if you’re self guiding the region or short on time. Reservations are required. Call at least a day or two ahead.

A wonderful wine touring experience! The landscape and the winery itself are gorgeous. The service was exceptionally good as well. We did not get to do the tour as we did not book in time but we were able to do a tasting which was lovely. For 5 EU person we opted to walk the vineyard. We got these great Quinta do Bomfim hats and a water bottle. Half way through the hike through the vineyard there is a rest stop building where we were able to refill our water bottles. It is a fairly rugged hike up the steeply terraced property so the water and the refill were necessary give the 34 C temps of the day.

Beautiful Quinta! The guided tour of the winemaking proces is offered in multiple languages. They have the option for multiple different (delicious) tastings afterwards. On the site you also have the option to do a walk through the vineyard and the olive plantation. During the walk you reach a picknick site where you can enjoy a small meal and fresh drink, with a few on the vineyard and the Douro valley.

Ultrapassa e supera qualquer avaliação superficial, tanto pelo carácter exaustivo do trabalho desenvolvido como pelo contributo científico para com o vale do Douro extendido até ao seu Porto de partida.
Em termos de extensão penso que continua a ser a maior propriedade do Vale. Imperdível!

Excellent tour of the vineyard: our guide was very informative and able to answer all of our questions. Flexible tasting options meant we could sample both regular wines and ports at the end of our visit.
We phoned up to book on the day of our trip which wasn't a problem. You can also do self-guided tours for just a few euros - no booking needed. The setting overlooking the Douro is something else, not to be missed.

Quinta de la famille Symington, qui exploite quelques grandes marques de vin de Porto, une des seules Quintas (à ma connaissance) à produire du vin autre que le Porto, très très bon le vin blanc sec(Altano) à boire très frais et à partager avec des amis (avec modération bien évidemment)ils produisent aussi du vin rouge.

When you drive from Régua to Pinhão to arrive to quinta do Bonfim you can whatch one of the most magnificent landscape from Douro.
The balcony at quinta do Bonfim has a fantastic view over the Douro River.
It is possible to visit the cellars and tast some wine.
You will also have the opportunity to learn a lot about how to make Oporto wine.

Hemos hecho la visita a la bodega, las viñas y al ser dos hemos elegido dos catas diferentes, una de vinos de mesa y otra de Oportos, para poder probar más vinos. Nos ha hecho la visita y la cata Elías, se le nota que es apasionado de los vinos y de su tierra, ha sido muy agradable y ameno. Nos ha encantado! Después hemos paseado por el viñedo, las vistas son espectaculares!
100% recomendable!

We did not plan to come here for a visit but changed our mind and made a quick pitstop at the wine shop. Had a great experience here, their employees seem really passionate about their roles. In particular we had a great time learning about the Duoro region and its wines from talking to Antonio at the wine shop...what a committed individual.

Very beautiful scenery and buildings. The tour was great, starting at 13 eur without tasting. The guide was very informative and welcoming, also good at answering many additional questions. The ports tastes very good. I recommend you arrive with train or stay for a while to allow you to taste the big range, to try out the many different varieties. They also produce red wines, which also are worth a test.

A very nice winery. The guided Tour starts from 13€ (no degustation), through 15€ (standard Port wine tasting) and up. With very friendly and knowledgeable staff, and superb views from the tasting terrace we really enjoyed it.

Wycieczka po winiarni połączona z degustacją wyborny win i Porto. Samo zwiedzanie to 12,5 za osobę, zwiedzanie z degustacją zaczyna się od 15euro, końca na dobrą sprawę nie ma. Bardzo miła osoba prowadząca, która nie tylko opowie o historii i pracy w winnicy, ale również bardzo wyczerpująco opowie o każdym winie które będziesz miał okazję degustowac. Bardzo polecam każdemu przebywającemu w szeroko pojętej okolicy.

Located in the city center of Pinhao this Port House is a ideal quick stop/visit. The estate has a good mix of modern and authentic elements, and the tour guides are fluent in English. The tour itself is nothing special, and only last for 20-25minutes, which is great, so you can enjoy your tasting rather quickly.

Very nice, highly professional,commercial and organised Quinta, representing Dow's itself and the rest of the main Symingtons owned ports. You can pay for a tour and/or walk around the vineyard, or just have a glass of port or wine at the very nice bar overlooking the river.

Really nice vineyard. You can get both guided tour or just pay 5 EUR and get the map, bottle of water and hat and go outside to the vineyard. There are really nice views during several paths. After the walk there is a possibility to take a glass of wine (more than one). Recommend

Obviously a well organised tour, but impersonal and many explanations via a movie, overall to promote the symington family. Moreover the tour is really expensive. Go to a smaller Quinta in the region, it is much more fun!

A nice English-speaking guide, good price/value ratio. Much better then Vila Nova de Gaia. This is the birthplace of Porto wines, environment is beautiful, it is definitely worth visiting this place. You will need a reservation! A definite advantage: not crrowded!

Distinction wine tasting experience. The guide is humor and informative, letting us to understand quite a lot of port wine history and manufacturing facts. Great variety of Wine tasting menu and it really change my mind on Portuguese wine. They have really good red one here in a good price.

Feels like a tourists trap.
The place is really nice and the wines are good.
Only one star, because it is unreasonable expensive.
Paid EUR 8.5 for a very small amount for one wine to taste.
There are many great alternative winneries around.

A visita nessa quinta foi muito legal, deu para entender muito sobre os vinhos e como são produzidos. A vista do Douro de lá é linda. Aproveitei a ida à cidade Pinhão e fiz um passeio maravilhoso pelo Rio Douro, não sei descrever a imensidão daquele lugar, da paz que sentimos...foi um ótimo passeio.

Symington group is the biggest in terms of acreage in the Douro region, so know that you are visiting a major operation. Reservations are required for tours and tastings and can be made online. Easy walk from the Pinhao train station, great history and gives you the chance to try older ports that you wouldn’t want to buy a full bottle of (we tried a 1985 vintage port). Would recommend the port tastings, most of the people we were with got the wine tasting, but I was not impressed at all with the wine... don’t go to a port winery and not get the port!

We went to do a tasting and have a cheese board. Staff were great along with seating. Only thing I would subtract a star is that the cheese board was underwhelming for the price of 10 euro.

This place is truly gorgeous and their Port as well as the other wines obviously taste amazing. Yet only 3 stars because compared to the other vineyards around this is just unreasonably expensive. We went on a hike up to the view point (you can also get there by car if you want to) and found another great vineyard with even a better view and way better prices! Quality the same if not better in my opinion.
Probably wouldn’t come back since this is just a tourist trap, as it is the most famous vineyard around there.

Nette und kompetente Mitarbeiter. Wie bei jedem Port-Haus werden Touren angeboten. Während die Touristen damit beschäftigt sind, kann man zeitgleich in Ruhe auf der wunderschönen Terrasse sitzen und die Aussicht auf das Wasser und die Weinberge genießen.

Absolutely beautiful! The tasting room is stunning, surrounded by glass, and the terrace overlooking the Douro river and neighbouring vineyards. Book a tour ahead of time, it is fairly short, but informative and nice to see where the Port is made. The port tasting is excellent - we tried 3 and enjoyed all of them. If you have time to visit just one place in Pinhao, make it Bomfim!

Tolle Führung mit anschließender Verkostung. Unbedingt vorher reservieren, wenn man eine Tour machen möchte. Wir hatten Glück - denn es wurde gerade was frei.
Claudia machte einen tollen Job. Wir haben viel über die Weinherstellung und die Geschichte des Duoro-Weins erfahren.

The drive to Quinta do Bomfim in itself was a great experience, the hundreds and thousands of vines in the Duoro are mind boggling and really incredible to see the history and care that has gone into the growth of the region. The winery is beautiful, filled with vines and fruit trees everywhere to show their range of diversity. The staff are very knowledgable and answered every question, not even showing exasperation when I asked a second time to write down the tasting notes and information on all the wines tasted. We also chose to have the optional picnic, which was well worth it, there was plenty of food for two hungry people and it was all made with quality ingredients. Best shared looking over the vineyards.
It was my first winery tour as well as tasting of Port and was a very special experience. Thank you again!

Como nao conseguimos fazer a visita guiada pois fomos de trem , fizemos o passeio pela vinha sozinhas com um mapa, cantil e chapéu para proteger do sol. Só que ventana muito e rapidamente fomos fazer a degustação de vinhos. Deliciosos. Atendimento impecável. Vale a visita. Ligar lindo e muito fácil de chegar à pé da estação de trem. Aliás, a estação de trem vale um passeio atento!

Great place to come for wine tasting and a picnic. As you can see from my photo, you have an amazing view of the valley with some great food. I recommend this to anyone coming to this area. Make sure to book the picnic in advance as it takes them time to prepare it.

Quinta do Bomfim oferece um dos mais belos cenários da região vinhateira do Douro.
Propriedade da família Symington, que permanece na região há cinco gerações, a quinta permite desfrutar do património já secular desta propriedade, que se constitui por uma adega e um conjunto de estruturas associadas onde se destacam os lagares mecânicos , uma sala de provas com terraço exterior, uma sala para recepção de visitas e um pequeno núcleo museológico evocativo da propriedade.
A quinta oferece passeios pelas vinhas e provas de vinhos. Há ainda a Casa dos Ecos, onde o visitante poderá fazer uma refeição tendo como pano de fundo a paisagem classificada pela UNESCO.
A visita começa no pequeno museu que conta a história da propriedade, da família e dos vinhos. Aqui expõe-se uma coleção de fotografias do Douro do início do século XX, que documentam a história da Quinta e da região.

Удобнее ехать в поезде из Порту с ж/д вокзала Сан-Бенту. Красивые виды по дороге вам обеспечены. Выходите в Пиньяо, на вокзале переписываете расписание обратной поездки, тк поезда ходят не часто. Выходите с вокзала, переходите дорогу и в кафе -пьете чудесный кофе. Дальше -вверх по дороге до моста. Фото на мосту обязательно! Очень красиво. Потом обратно до начала моста и по указателям до винодельни, метров 200. Экскурсии на русском нет, на английском вполне все понятно. Проведут по погребам, расскажут историю семьи, приведут к чанам, бочкам, погребам. Очень интересно. Есть магазинчик. Дегустация, на террасе. Можно походить по виноградникам-3 вида трасс, дают карту. Обратно поезд с того же перона что и приехали, запомните! Билеты в поезде. Советую!

First class in every way. The staff were friendly, professional, and knowledgable. It is the only tasting room for the brands of Dows, Grahams, Warres, among others. Beautiful view of the Douro River from the tasting room.

Have read recommendations of this quinta and was looking forward to a visit. Have tried to call and email and book/plan a visit. Their response is so far very poor and careless. After my phone call asking to make a reservation they asked me to email them about it. Did that and their answer was basically a plain "no, not possible". No explanations, no alternatives, nothing. If this is any prediction of the service they provide when one actually visits it is a "no thank you" for me

Thiago was our guide here and he was a bloody rockstar! Super passionate and seemed very knowledgeable (of course I. No Port wine expert). The guided visit was lovely, do yourself a favour, and book a tasting, especially if you are in Pinhão but will no be venturing out to smaller operations.

Wir konnten wegen zu viel Andrang zwar nicht an der Weinverkostung teilnehmen, durften dann aber auf Nachfrage doch in den Shop und ein paar Weine probieren. Das Weingut und die Weine sind sehr empfehlenswert. Uns hat vor allem der Weißwein zugesagt. Preiswert und für unseren Geschmack sehr gut.

This place is beautiful, updated and has the potential to be 5 stars. I expected to walk the vineyards and perhaps have lunch as its winary overlooks the Douro River. The staff and our tour guide was very nice. The wine was so amazing the drive there was breathtaking. This would be a good location for anyone travel to have a destination wedding.

It is a nice view and you can sit outside. The staff are quite good and not over zealous. Could do with more options to taste especially wine. Somewhere to go to pay to taste not really taste to buy.

A nice tour of the wineyard with a small group of people. Nice estate. Beautiful view from the balcony. The tasting are ok. We tried a couple of extra glasses of tawnies. Received them for free after purchasing a couple of bottles in the shop. A nice gesture.

Preciosa quinta con una terraza donde se puede hacer una degustación. La visita vale 10 euros, dura unos 45 minutos en un grupo de unas 20-25 personas y es muy interesante. Es un pelín caro si pensamos que no incluye ninguna degustación pero el primer precio con degustación es 12 euros.

Take a train out from Porto to Pinhao to visit the Symington port lodge (approx 22 euro return, starboard out; port home). The tour was run by incredibly knowledgeable staff and you can try various wine flights from across their brands. Sitting in their gardens in the middle of the terraces is a great way to while away the afternoon!

A good place to learn more about port wine making. They offer tours repeat with wine and port tastings. Not cheap but if you have a few extra €€€s and time, it's a pleasant way to to spend a few hours.

Stunning location with an excellent tour - about 3/4 hour long and then onto the flights of Port. Came away with a much better appreciation of the history of the industry and this family owned quinta's part in it.

Quinta lindíssima, pelo seu enquadramento paisagístico e pelos espaços tão bem conservados.
Fomos muito bem atendidos na receção, de forma muito amável e grande delicadeza. O guia que nos acompanhou na visita possuía uma postura muito profissional (aliás todos tinham) e revelou-se muito conhecedor da quinta e de todos os processos ligados a produção do vinho. Por fim a prova foi maravilhosa... Recomendo vivamente a sua visita

They have a fantastic wine tasting place. Wines start with 2.5 EUR per glass, the staff is super friendly and easy going. When you sit in the opem air you gey an awesome, very atmospheric view over the valley with the Douro river, ships and a train in a very picturesque landscape.

L'endroit peu semblé un peu ''touristique'' mais elle vaut AMPLEMENT le détour. Leurs portos et leurs vins sont simplement irréprochable comparé aux autres vignobles/endroits à Pinhao... La visite guidée est très bien construite, à faire absolument !!
