It was a good spot for a sunset, the staff are friendly, and the cocktails are very cool, but there was nothing on the menu that was especially appealing. I get the sense that due to their location they don't really need to compete on food, and as far as I know the food is good, but the menu is small and limited so for me it was drinks only and on to somewhere else.

Nice little museum in Faro, ok it's small and there's not much to see but if you get lucky you might see something good like the Carlos Porfirio paintings they had on when we were there...nice building too.

Lovely place to visit, not pricey and they even have free entrance from certain hours. This place is full of history, archeology and art. Even if you just want to read a book in a nice garden this is definitely a place to visit!

The museum has done a great job displaying some famous work by the artist Porfirio. The pieces are stories of enchantment. Overall the museum is worth a visit.

The museum gives you a good overview of region's history: from the Roman times till the 20th century. It also presents modern art in temporary exhibitions. You will need 40-60 minutes to get through. Unlike other museums it's also open on Sundays and is free until 2pm.

Dificilmente fala-se mal de um museu. Se é museu é porque é bom. O Museu de Faro é surpreendente. Tem um pouco do melhor de tudo. Um discurso museológico bem exposto. Visita-se com mt agrado. Não é cansativo. Surpreendeu-me a boa qualidade do seu acervo em exposição. Visitá-lo é um grande enriquecimento. Parabéns FARO.

This was worth the €2 entry fee. Rich archeological history and exhibitions covering a variety of interest. It is easily missed as many people skip Faro town to head to other locations. Worth spending Althea afternoon straight from the airport. Recommended!

Note to self: pay better attention to your surroundings This little gem kept popping up on my timeline for review, but I couldn't remember it. I was looking for a couple of local landmark places I had read about and missed this one, but was parked next to it. Having looked at the photos of the area and exhibits, I found that I recognised and really liked what I saw. When I return to Loulé, I'll make a point of checking this out proper like ....... This time, a missed opportunity though.......

O Museu Municipal de Faro possui um acervo bastante diversificado, na sua maioria proveniente de doações. As colecções do museu dividem-se essencialmente em duas categorias: as histórico-arqueológicas e as monográficas. O primeiro tipo contempla essencialmente as colecções de arqueologia e pintura antiga; o segundo tipo é proveniente de doações de colecções particulares e tem objectos diversificados. Destaca-se a colecção de Arqueologia proveniente da região algarvia e que abrange um vasto leque cronológico (pré-história ao século XVIII) e, em especial, o período romano com a epigrafia, a escultura e o mosaico; a colecção de Pintura Antiga dos séculos XVI a XIX proveniente de edifícios religiosos algarvios e, por fim, uma colecção de Cartazes de cinema, circo e publicidade de inícios do século XX.

Ben tenuto e ben organizzato, sui due piani di un antico convento, c'è un po' tutta la storia di Faro, a partire dai resti della civiltà romana, con il magnifico mosaico che troneggia nella sala dedicata. Ci sono poi resti della Faro islamica, per finire ai bei dipinti del seicento e del settecento. Da non perdere, per chi vuole conoscere un po' della storia di Faro.

Замечательный музей!!! Обычно детям по музеям ходить не нравится, но своих пришлось выводить из него))) в музее представлены не только экспонаты консервного завода, но и собрана история этого городка. Очень понравился документальный фильм о работе этого завода!!!

Originariamente um convento posteriormente transformado em Museu está sob a alçada do Município de Faro. Muito para além de guardar memórias,transmite ao visitante a valiosa herança cultural. É uam estrutura polivalente, organizado várias exposições em simultâneo. Bilhetes de ingressso muito acessíveis e, mesmo que o não fossem, seria sempre de efectuar uma visita.

I wanted to visit it while asking for the price together with my bike. But the receptionist working on the 7th of August 2018 was just insisting to get out my bike without offering any solution where to store it. This was a really weak customer service. It seemed that the employee was missusing her position in order to profit personally with the feeling of power. @Administration and receptionist of the museum: Please take this feedback as input while considering how to decrease the massive unemployment rate in Portugal. Such behaviour throws us back to the Medieval Times!

Museo ricavato da un ex convento, location molto bella. Esposizioni temporanee e permanenti, a un prezzo modico (2-3 euro). Il pezzo forte è il mosaico di oceano, il resto per quanto interessante non è nulla di mozzafiato. Spicca tra le poche cose di faro, a mio parere

Me encantó este museo. Tiene exposiciones permanentes que son muy interesantes y bonitas, cómo son los cuadros bastante antiguos que se encuentran allí, o los escudos heraldicos hechos en piedra, motivos religiosos, etc. También disponen de exposiciones temporales, así que es bueno ir de vez en cuando para ver las novedades. El sitio en sí es precioso, merece la pena su visita.

Cheap entry to this museum, my favourite in Faro. I can see from some reviews that some fellow travellers missed the Fado performance, which I loved (make sure to ask about this at reception so you don't end up missing it).

Molto bello il chiostro e il palazzo. Fantastico il mosaico romano di Oceano. La sezione della pittura antica contiene soprattutto opere di artisti portoghesi . Due mostre temporanee attualmente presenti : una di arte contemporanea e una di scultura sacra. Nel complesso la visita è stata piacevole.

Ładna architektura. Urokliwe, kameralne miejsce warte „zaliczenia” choć liczba eksponatów i brak interaktywnych opisów sprawia, że miejsce sprawia wrażenie starego, nudnego muzeum.

We hastened to the Archaeological museum to take in a Fado rendition before an early supper. Regrettably the uptake for the Fado was zero for the past two days so the decision was reached to reschedule in the new year. But time was not wasted as the museum is an interesting mix of the recent and very old - a unique combination of Roman and pre-Roman artifacts, an excellent selection of 17th C portraits, albeit mainly clerics and the chapel was dedicated to local artists. The architecture is very much to my taste with twin level collanades bounding a box hedge geometric garden. Well worth a detour.

Мне очень понравилось это место. Снаружи выглядит очень красиво и хочется сразу зайти вовнутрь. А внутри находится очень познавательный археологический музей. Некоторые в нём могут увидеть и узнать что-то новое, но я там не обнаружил ничего нового для себя. К сожалению у меня не сохранились фотографии с этого объекта.

This is a small but enjoyable museum. We started our visit with live (traditional) Fado music performed by 2 guitarists and a singer. Lovely, at an additional fee.

Wonderful, just wonderful. Great and beautiful little place. Really nice garden in the middle. Exposition is great. You can learn. About Faro history. Exibitions are devided to permanent and temporary. During our visit, there was paintings of Algrave legends. Defenetly worth to see when in Faro. Prize for tickets was bout 2 euros

En un antiguo monasterio se alberga este bonito museo donde poder conocer la historia de Faro y de la región del Algarve en general. En especial la parte dedicda a la historia Romano Portuguesa está muy bien. Destaca el mosaico de Poseidón muy bien conservado.

Nice museum to spent some time on a rainy day. Dont expect to be blown away by the museum. It is rather small and the collection isn't that big. But its perfect to get some knowledge about acient Faro on a rainy or windy day. You could entertain yourself in the museum for around one and a half hour.

Exposición permanente en de restos de las diversas epocas, y pintura portuguesa de tematica sacra. También temporales, ahora se encuentra expuesto un gran mosaico romano precioso.
Aprovechado para eventos culturales el patio del edificio, por ejemplo se celebraba un festival sobre cine y salud mental (FICSAM 2016).
