We were referred here by our hostess, Maria, and were so happy that she did. This was some of the best seafood we have ever had. We were lucky to get a seat the first night, but if you’re planning to go I’d highly suggest making a reservation as the seats were always filled.
We came here our first night in Lagos and it was so amazing that we made a reservation for the next night to return. The spaghetti and prawns was our favourite and out of this world! We also had the house special prawns and squid, which were great as well! We hope that one day the chef will open up a restaurant in Toronto for us!!

Very nice small family run restaurant. The food is freshly made to order and very good. The portions are quite big.
Best to have a reservation as there can be a bit of a wait.

It is totally mandatory to go to this restaurant, otherwise you will be leaving Lagos without experiencing the best portuguese cuisine available. TIPS: I tried to eat there and I waited an hour, I was so hungry after swimming all day that I had to go to another place, so every time you want to eat here, go at 6pm to make a reservation, reservations are done the same day, they open at 6pm, and the reservation period is from 6 to 7pm, so I went at 6:40pm and I made a reservation, however, it is basically a first come, first served basis, so you put your name in their notebook and then they tell you around what time you could come so you do not wait that much. I came back after 50 minutes, I waited 10 minutes and I finally got in, the prices are fair but the dishes are HUGE, you can see them in my pictures, I also added a picture of the amount of people that line up outside to try to enter and they just wait for over an hour to get a table, the place is SUPER BUSY all the time, so just go, put your name from 6 to 7 and just wait until you get a table, however, the food is absolutely delicious, I ordered Turkey steak with mushrooms and it comes with potatoes and rice, super tasty but HUGE, I finished it all and my girlfriend asked for grilled sea bass, it was really good, though we had a hard time finishing everything but we did it and we survived, so the trick was to just ask for one beer instead of more things to drink to have some space, recommendation for people who do not eat a lot, just get one dish and you can share, it will definitely be enough for two people. I added the pictures of the menu that is outside of the restaurant so that you can see the prices, and for the amount of food you get, it will be the best restaurant in Lagos, in terms of quality and quantity of food for the price, another thing, everything that you want to add has a price, like bread, butter, so avoid asking for more stuff, if your dish comes with rice and potatoes, forget about asking for bread, and you will avoid to pay more for not finishing the meal, the environment is good and I guess the restaurant is run by a family, that is why it is small but tasty and totally RECOMMENDED!

This place is worth the wait! I would come by the day before and make a reservation instead of waiting for an hour or more. Their cataplana dish is soo good. We had many different versions of this dish while traveling in Portugal for 2 weeks, and this place was the best!! Highly recommend!!!

因為民宿老闆的推薦來到這家小店，我們兩人吃了招牌菜Cataplana蛤蜊跟蝦還有prawn home style,滿滿的海鮮加一小瓶白酒跟麵包約56歐，味道超好！我們是開店前5分鐘到達，入座後沒多久現場就因預約滿了沒座位，人少想吃可以早來碰運氣，人多的話建議預約！

Uns wurde das Lokal vom Hotel empfohlen. Leider war es sehr enttäuschend.
Das Ambiente kann man vergessen, es ist eng und laut. Das Brot drei Tage alt, der Salat lieblos serviert und das Essen viel, aber keine Qualität.

Man sollte sich nicht vom Äußeren Eindruck täuschen lassen. Dieses Restaurant sieht auf den ersten Blick zwar eher aus, wie ein Schnellimbiss. Aber die Küche hat es sich. Sehr gute einheimische Küche, besonders die Kataplana. Begleitet wird das gute Essen von freundlichem Personal. Wir waren bei unserem Besuch die einzigen Touris, wie uns schien. Der Ort scheint ein beliebter Spot von Einheimischen zu sein, die draussen vor dem Restaurant sitzen, gemütlich schnacken und dabei einen Wein in der Abendsonne trinken.

The ‘home style’ shrimp is a must! Staff and chef were very friendly. The space fills up quick so it’s best to make a reservation. We enjoyed our dinner so much we came back the next day.

The best sea bass I have ever had. The whole menu looks delicious and the service is great. Be prepared to book in advance as this place gets very busy. Would absolutely recommend for meat and fish eaters!!!!! Portions are huge so main is more than enough even for a 6ft man!!!

Was really well looked after here with warm, friendly service and delicious food. We enjoyed the mixed cataplana (comes with rice and chips) and finished with a generous slice of strawberry cheesecake. Except for the front door being locked from the outside and resulting in me questioning my door opening abilities, this was a wonderful experience.

My fourth time coming here and I wanted to show it off to my partner when we arrived in lagos! It was soooo good! We both had entrees, main, bottle of wine and both had dessert and it was only €45! The food has so much love put into it and the family business provides comfort, warmth and love in the restaurant! I will always be coming back when I come to Lagos!

Un restaurant qui reste typique malgré le fort tourisme de la ville. J'y ai mangé le meilleur plat de mon séjour au Portugal : des spaghettis aux crevettes en sauce. Un régal !!! Par contre les prix sont un plus élevé que les restaurants pour les locaux.

My desire to taste the 'Cataplana' brought me to this restaurant. It's a small place and you may end up waiting outside the entrance for considerable time, check if you can pre-book seating.
Likeable:
1. The home-style 'Cataplana' is simple and palatable, worth trying(but either Cataplana is overrated or there may be better places to try it)
2. The staff is amicable

This place is an absolute gem. It feels like the proper family ran business. When you come in you get seated straight away. I tried the Paula’s spaghetti and my boyfriend had some sort of pork dish. Be aware the portions are very big. If you are not a big eater you can easily get one portion between two of you. I would recommend this place to anyone.

This was the best restaurant I visited during my trip to Portugal. The staff was very attentive and friendly. They accommodated for my girlfriend's tree nut allergy and took it seriously. Three food was absolutely amazing, fresh, and flavorful. I would be back at this place in a heartbeat. I highly recommend!

Pas facile à trouver sans l'aide du téléphone, la façade du restaurant ne paye pas de mine. Une fois rentrée, très peu de place ( j'imagine qu'il faudrait une réservation en été). Mais une fois assis, le serveur vous donnes une carte écrit en plusieurs langues. Anglais au rendez vous, pas de francais... Mais mis cela de côté, le vin de la maison est très bon et se mariera très bien avec votre plat !! Servis relativement vite, serveur au top. Mais surtout le Cataplana est à tomber par terre !! C'est très copieux et bien garnie, si on y rajouté le riz et les pommes de terre qui sont apportées avec... Je conseille de pas manger à midi. Maintenant l'addition... C'est un peut cher (50€ pour deux plat et une bouteille de vin ) mais considérant la qualité/quantité donné. Pour moi cela vaut vraiment le coup.

Wow! What an incredible little gem in Lagos. I ordered the home style prawns with a basket of bread. Absolutely delicious. Go early (they open at 6 pm for dinner) or be prepared to wait for a table. Worth the wait if you have to.

The food was amazing! We got the home style prawns, cataplana and pork dish and everything was delicious. Best meal we've had in Portugal so far! The portions are quite large and the staff were very friendly. It's very busy so it's best to make reservations or you'll be waiting over an hour for a table.

맛있지만 2~3시간씩 기다리면서 먹을 만큼은 아닙니다. 기대를 낮추세요. 저는 고기보다 새우 요리가 만족도가 높았습니다. 한국어를 보실 수 있는 분들을 위한 예약? 팁을 남깁니다. 1. 개장하자마자 간다. 테이블이 9개정도이니 9팀안에 들어야합니다. 2. 3~4일전에 가서 7시반예약을한다.예약은 7시반 타임만 받습니다. 3. 1~2일전에가서 9시정도로 예약한다. 다른 식당의 예약 개념이 아닌 Waiting list 에 이름을 전 또는 전전날 특정시간으로 올릴 수있습니다. 그럼 30분이내 대기로 입장가능합니다.

We arrived at 6:30 pm so there were still a handful of tables left and we were seated quickly. The food was AMAZING!!! I loved the house style prawns, the sauce was so good! The filet mignon Portuguese style was also really delicious, it had a really nice gravy and the potatoes were really good. A huge line formed a few minutes after we were seated so I highly recommend coming early, because I noticed that people who made reservations still had to wait a bit for their table.

Purtroppo tanta pubblicità sulle riviste , e poi il mangiare è banale e consueto , è rimasto tutto sui fogli , e in un ambiente squallido , con frigo dei gelati e vini pieni di scatole e roba alla rinfusa , date retta , non fate la fila , che credo che non ne valga la pena .

Es un pequeño establecimiento casero en el centro del casco antiguo de lagos.
Hacen una cataplana de langostinos y almejas espectacular,acompañada de arroz y patatas.Se pueden hacer reservas desde la 6 de la tarde( mejor reservar pronto xque debido a su fama se llena todas las noches).Solo cenas. Personal muy atento y agradable.Calidad precio excelente ( unos 40 € para 2 personas)y raciones muy abundantes.Muy recomendable.

Excellent Portuguese food. The prawns and clams cataplana were fabulousl and so were the squid and lamb chops. The service was very quick despite there's only one chef and 3 people serving. It's a small restaurant and I recommend booking in advance to secure a table which we did. The staff were very polite and overall, very satisfied with the service and food. Definitely not one to be missed in Lagos!!!

Wyśmienite jedzenie, zdecydowanie polecam! Przyszliśmy przed godziną 18 i kelner wpuścił nas bez rezerwacji. Zaznaczył jednak, że mamy na zjedzenie 1,5 godz, ponieważ stoliki są porezerwowane na późniejszą godzinę i musimy wyrobić się w czasie. Zgodziliśmy się na taki układ, było warto.

AN AMAZING DINER EXPERIENCE. The place as the look of your home town restaurant and by the crowd waiting outside to get a table you know the food disserve your patience. Owners are really friendly, and while waiting you can enjoy a glass (sold by the bottle) outside. When your turn comes then starts a wonderfull portugues cuisine experience. Portions are huge food is tasty, and the price for all that is incredibly cheap. We recommand !

Get there early on the weekends because it’s a small place and there’s often a huge crowd waiting to get in. But the wait is worth it...the food was absolutely amazing and the staff were friendly and helpful. Great slice of Portuguese cuisine. Loved it!

100 % recomendable, cataplana mixta para dos personas, aunque comen tres, excelente y el precio se ajusta muy bien a la calidad y cantidad, barato diría yo. Horario limitado, siempre hay cola. Recomiendo ir a la hora de apertura e incluso algo antes para reservar.

Irrepreensível. Camarão à casinha é pedido obrigatório. Sangria caseira muito boa. Não é conveniente aparecer sem marcação porque a sala é pequena e há muita procura.sem complexos de molhar o pão...vale até ao último restinho de molho na travessa.

The cataplana here is better than anywhere else. These guys are adding some curry type spices that take it to the next level.
The portion sizes here are huge.
Filet mignon wasn't as good.

Restaurante pequeño y tipico. Hay que ir dos horas antes para pedir mesa, te apuntan en la lista y te dicen aproximadamente el tiempo que falta. El plato tipico es la cataplana (para dos personas) que esta buenisima. Eso si, si quieres la de pescado pone que es “bajo reserva”. Si no, esta la de gambas y almejas que es la que comimos o la de la casa (que lleva carne de cerdo).

Davvero il miglior posto dove abbia mangiato a Lagos.
E un posto a conduzione familiare ed il cibo è davvero impeccabile (ho mangiato dei gamberi in una salsa squisita). Solita pecca dei locali portoghesi è l'attenzione al servizio. Tutti davvero molto gentili, ma restavano tavoli vuoti per molto tempo nonostante la fila all'esterno.
Come Nota per chi volesse andarci: PRENOTATE PRIMA DELLE 19, altrimenti preparatevi ad una media di 2 ore di attesa.

Loin d'être un restaurant typique Portugais (ça reste un restaurant touristique). La cuisine est très bonne. Nous regrettons cependant le manque d'organisation, vous donnez votre nom et si par malheur au bout de 2h vous n'entendez pas votre prénom, parmi les dixaines, qu'elle débite tout doucement on vous passe devant et n'êtes plus dans la liste ! Nous avons donc 2 couples qui nous sont passés devant sans excuse de la part de la proprio... Bref négligence du client. Restaurant victime de son succès !

Заведение с катастрофически малым количеством мест. Сначала мы думали, что адрес в картах указан неправильно. Очень неприметный вход. Не смотря на информацию о работе с 12 до 14, а потом с 18, днем ресторан не работал, только с 18. Я позвонил по телефону из под дверей ресторана и мне удалось забронировать столик на двоих на 18.00 этого дня. Попасть в ресторан без записи практически невозможно. Когда я был на пороге заведения в 18.00 мне сказали, что такой брони нет. И только аудио запись разговора с телефона решила вопрос, просто моё имя не так записали. Из блюд на двоих мы выбрали "катаплана по домашнему" - свинина, креветки, моллюски и овощи в одном тазике. Через час поедания можно разойтись по швам. В блюде из специй только соль. Весь вкус очень насыщен и натурален. Цены наверное ниже, чем по всему городу. Зайдите и не пожалеете.

À savoir: le restaurant accepte les réservations jusqu'à 19h ( il ouvre à 18h) après il est possible de s'ajouter sur une liste et de partir se balader. Mais quand une table se libère il demande dans l'ordre des ajouts sur la liste. Cependant si vous êtes 5 et que c'est une table de 2 qui se libère forcément ce sera pour quelqu'un d'autre. Nous avons attendu 2h mais ça en vallait la peine, même si ma compagne a trouvée le cataplana un peu trop gras(le porc) pour elle. Sinon les plats sont copieux et savoureux, les serveuses ont fait leurs possible car nous ne parlons pas un mots d'anglais ni de Portugais. Autre info le resto ne prend pas la carte la bleu.

The line to get in here is ridiculous, we waited 3 hours you should really make a reservation, but the 3 hour wait was worth it ! I can honestly say I have never tasted flavours like this in my life, I'm at aww, all our dishes were better than the next. The chef was an amazing host, checking up on all his customers. We enjoy coming back for lunch but we made sure we booked in advance, as this place gets so busy. We love the food and the service. I can't wait to go back.

Wir haben viel Spass gehabt und traumhaft gut gegessen . Ein ausgezeichneter Fisch , auch optisch die eher bessere Portugal Variante. Der Koch scheint hier der Chef zu sein und versteht sein Handwerk , auch die Bedienung wahr sehr aufmerksam . Nix zu meckern , genau deswegen schreibe ich die Kritik . Es lohnt sich auf jeden Fall in Lagos das kleine versteckte Restaurant zu suchen . Mehr solche Restaurants wünsche ich mir . Alle Daumen hoch von mir .

Kulinarisch ein Höhepunkt in Lagos. Die Cataplana für 2 reicht aber locker für 3. Mehr als reichlich. Und super lecker.

If you have to eat at one place in Lagos, this is it. If you have to eat at two places, this place is it twice. Even if you have to wait hours. Just trust me. The cataplana is bonkers crazy good. Thick, creamy, umami laden sauce envelops very fresh and tasty Prawns and tender pork pieces. Had to wait 1 and a half hours but completely worth it.

Our best meal in Portugal. HUGE portions. The sauces are amazing. I had the prawns (sooo tasty) and my bf had the Portuguese style beef stroganoff (also amazing). Probably didn’t need a starter or dessert but we had both. Mountain cheese with bread as a starter was also very tasty. You won’t be disappointed if you go here!! Definitely come when it opens or you may not get a table.

The food at this restaurant is exceptional. Everything we had was perfectly cooked and delicious. Oh and the portions are insanely large, enough for 2 although we did manage to finish nearly everything - it’s hard to leave anything. The prawns and clams were fantastic, the sauce delicious and seafood cooked to perfection. The fish was cooked perfectly and the steak was fabulous, cooked just how we asked, melting in the mouth.
The service is friendly and helpful and the chef genuinely delighted to see the customers enjoy their food. It’s clearly a labour of love for the whole team.
Just a word of caution - this place is very popular and doesn’t take telephone bookings so turn up early (6pm at the very latest!) to get a table then or to put your name down for later on. Don’t miss this place.

The line at the entrance of the Restaurant shows it is place worth to visit. You should put your name on the waiting list at least 2h earlier.
We've tried cataplana (local Portuguese meal), totally recommend that. It was really delicious. Mind that verison with fish should be ordered one day before.
The Chef is genius and he is visible for the guest, you can see flames from the kitchen :-)

Abbiamo fatto un po' di fila essendo in agosto, vale assolutamente la pena aspettare. Abbiamo mangiato benissimo, vi consiglio di prendere "shrimps home style". Molto carino il personale nonostate il locale pieno di gente sono stati super competenti nel soddisfare le nostre comande anche con velocità! Andateci almeno una volta!!

Sitio de 10. Si vas, pide cataplana (en nuestro caso pedimos a da casinha). No conocía el plato de antes pero nos ha parecido increíble. Con solo eso ya cenas, por desconocimiento pedimos antes la sopa de la casa, riquísima también. El sitio es muy conocido por lo que pásate antes a que te apunten en la lista, nos dijeron 40 minutos y al final fue hora y media. Mejor tomárselo con calma, te pides unas cervezas en el bar de al lado mientras esperas y después a disfrutar de la comida. El personal de lo más agradable.

I was told that the seafood in Algarve is to die for and my first meal here did not disappoint!!
We stumbled upon this restaurant since it was late and the kids were starving. It looks like a hole in the wall, but the food is very flavorful and the folks speak English and are very friendly. Unfortunately they were out of most of the seafood such as the sea bream and sea bass, but they had sardines, baby squid and prawns, so we got all of them!!
The garlic prawns were deeelish, though I would have thought they would have been bigger. The baby squid was grilled and covered in a wine sauce. The squids were not chewy at all and the sauce was perfect to have with some bread as well. We also got some rice and the vegetable soup, as we have been at every place so far.
The sardines were grilled to perfection. There were 6 to an order and it was more than enough for an entree.
The kids got the fried chicken steak and it was one of the best they've had.
Highly recommend trying out this place.

El unico pero, es que al ser un sitio pequeño y que siempre llena, el aire acondicionado no da a basto y hace calor en verano.

Food is not bad, but not worth it either. Their signature dish is basically cream drowned prawn and clam. Grilled bream is way too salty. And their home style prawn is not bad but the sauce is also heavy on cream and salt. Plus the wait is two hour long and the service is just horrible. The male staff is so rude and arrogant. At some point we had to serve ourselves to get empty plates etc. I don’t understand the hype here. Had lunch half of the price but with better quality, just 300 meters away from this one. Would not recommend to anyone.

Raciones muy abundantes. Tomamos la cataplana mixta, muy rica (cataplana, pan y 2 bebidas 36€), pero todo tenía muy buena pinta.
Impresdindible ir pronto y apuntarse en la lista de espera. Fuimos a las 7:30 y no pudimos cenar hasta las 9, pero mereció la pena.

Estuve la primera vez que fui al algarve hace ya la friolera de 10 años y entonces entrabas directamente y sin agobios , las mitad del establecimiento vacío. La comida fue espectacular la cataplana supersabrosa, pero por lo que veo ahora se ha corrido la voz y ya imposible.

Best meal we had in Portugal! The line outside shows you how amazing this place is. Tip: The portions are HUGE so share (we are American so I’m not joking on this). I got the sea bream and it was insane. Salmon, pork, prawns, even filet was great. They come with a bit of salad, and we ordered 2 salads so I’m waddling out of here. Call ahead for reservations (they speak English too) as it’s a small place and amazing. We called 2 days ahead and made reservation for 7:30. A sign at the reservation says that they only honor reservations until 7 so we were a little worried. 10 Mins later we were in! This is a family run restaurant, and they are working hard. Love this restaurant! Cash only!

The food was very good and portions quite large, probably too large. They do pack the customers in and there's always a line, so make sure to reserve a table a few days in advance. They might consider hiring someone to manage arriving guests at the front door to avoid the waiting guests squeezing by or hovering around the table as you're eating. This made us feel a bit rushed, otherwise it would have been a 5 rating.

Llegamos sobre las 8, estaba lleno y había mucha gente esperando fuera. Entramos y muy amablemente y en español nos apuntaron en una lista y nos dijeron que teníamos que esperar unas dos horas más o menos. A las 2 horas volvimos y nada más entrar nos dieron mesa. La sopa del día estaba divina y la cataplana mixta igual. No pudimos acabarnosla entera porque en las dos horas de espera habíamos Estado picando, asique nos la pusieron para llevar. Très bon mais trop cher. Les plats qu'on a mangé étaient délicieux mais cela ne justifie pas le prix abusif. Presque 15€ un plat sans accompagnement. Nous avons payé 41€ pour 2 personnes avec seulement 2 plats 2 accompagnements et 2 ice tea. On peut déguster de la vrai nourriture portugaise pour la moitié du prix.

Really small and the way they handle reservation is kind of.chaotic but the food is worth the wait and amazing! The chef is so good and doing it all alone, service is also really good once you are inside. Portions of dishes for 2 persons are really big so no starter is needed.

Anyone that rates Casinha do Petisco less than five stars is an idiot; don’t do yourself a disservice by skipping this one. If you’re looking for authentic dishes that are prepared with thought, this is the place. This was more than likely the best food I’ve had in Portugal. The flavors in the sauces are amazing, the seafood is fresh and the noodles, if you go that route, are cooked perfectly. I wasn’t even mad when the chef blew a kiss to my smiling fiancé as we left.

Fuimos sin reserva y estaba lleno ya que no es muy grande el local y la comida está riquísima, por eso tanta afluencia de gente, así que nos tocó esperar unos 15-20 minutos pero mereció la pena.

여자 둘이서 홈메이드 새우랑 칠면조고기 맥주2잔 먹었는데 맛있고 양도 많고 가격은 약 27유로 정도였어요. 6시 오픈이라 5시 55분쯤 갔는데 바로 들어가서 먹었고 거의 예약자리로 테이블이 다 차있어서 예약안하고 온 모든 손님들에게 7시30분까지는 최소한 자리를 비켜줘야된다고했었어요. 한국인이 식사하기에는 1시간 반이면 충분해서 편하게 잘먹었습니다. 요리사분도 친절하시고 맛있고 배부르게 잘먹었습니다.

The food was outstanding. I ordered sea bass and my companion had salmon - both cooked to perfection with fried potato pieces and salad. The restaurant is small and has a family feel. Service is courteous and the chef asked us both if we were happy. It can be difficult to get in, so go early or reserve ahead. Muito bom!

Wir waren hier aufgrund der guten Bewertung. Wir aßen die Spezialität des Hauses- Garnelen und Muscheln in einer geheimen Haussoße. Letztendlich war die Haussoße eine Rahmsoße wie man es in Deutschland isst zu Fleisch. Für mich persönlich war es schade, da der Fisch in der Soße schwamm und diese so salzig war, dass man von dem zarten Meeresfrüchtefleisch nichts mehr schmecken konnte. Ausserdem wurde man wirklich wie am Fließband abgefertigt, da das Restaurant sehr gefragt war. Von Persönlichkeit und Flair keine Spur.
Wir waren 4 Mädels und 3 von uns ging es nach dem Essen gar nicht gut, eine hat sich die ganze Nacht übergeben.
Ich empfehle dieses Restaurant nicht weiter

Although we came without booking a table and the place was full, they managed to squeeze us in.
My partner who ordered the shrimps said they were good, the grilled sea bass I ordered was fried(??) and they forgot to bring us the beer we ordered. The waiter didn't even bother to check on us after serving the food and in general he seemed to me very cocky and arrogant, he didn't even apologized he forgot the beer.
Overall experience: I wouldn't have come back there.

It's one of the cutest places I've ever been to. Such a homey feel to it. The kitchen is open so you'll get a glimpse of the chef, who's always smiling. He'll ask you a couple of times if you like the food :)

Das Essen ist Okay, nicht mehr, aber auch nicht weniger. Es nervt aber total in einem Restaurant zu sitzen, in dem es so eng ist, das man sich kaum bewegen kann.
Und wenn man sich dann gehetzt fühlt beim Essen, weil draußen (warum auch immer) eine lange Schlange steht und auf einen Tisch wartet, dann ist das vollkommen unentspannt.
Kann nicht verstehen wieso sich jemand da 1h hinstellt und auf einen Tisch wartet.
Wir kommen nicht wieder.
Ein Wort noch zum Schinken, viel zu Dick geschnitten, und sehr fest.

Food only tastes as good if the service is great. Waiter with the moustache is rude and gives off pretentious vibes. The food wasn't worth the wait as everyone here suggests (There's too much hype and food just tastes ordinary), there are better Portuguese food around this area.

Fui almoçar em agosto e qual o meu espanto quando entro na sala de refeições e deparo com um calor que não se podia, o ar condicionado estava avariado/desligado.
Quanto a comida não posso falar porque com o calor que se fazia mal consegui almoçar, contudo vi várias cataplanas com bom aspecto.
Regressei uma outra vez para jantar e foi-me recusado, estando em agosto se às 22h não servem ninguém é porque não precisam. Fui jantar a outro local e já passava das 23h e ainda serviam novos clientes.

L'attente est très voire trop longue. Cependant, la cuisine y est très bonne : poisson frais, crevettes délicieuses.
Ambiance conviviale (plutôt bruyante).
Penser à réserver 24h à l'avance pour la cataplana, la caldeirada. On recommande de vivre cette expérience gustative!

Dieses Lokal gibt eigentlich alles her was man sich wünsch: landestypische Küche, freundliche Bedienung und kleines gemütliches Ambiente. Desweiteren als positiv zu bewerten ist, dass man direkten Einblick in die ordentliche Küche hat.
Einziger Kritikpunkt, den ich aber nicht als würdig erachte einen Punkt abzuziehen ist, dass man Glück haben muss einen Platz zu bekommen ( Reservierung war im August nicht möglich ), wenn man dann einen Platz hat registriert man im Hintergrund stets die wartenden nachkommenden Gäste.
Fazit: sehr gutes Essen, große Mengen für kleinen Preis. Gerne wieder.

Ich fand es dort sehr gut, das Essen war sehr lecker und die Portionen sehr groß; die Bedingung war nett und alles ging sehr schnell. Ein Stern Abzug, weil es dort sehr eng ist und wenn man zu spät kommt, sehr lange warten muss. Es ist ein must-do, wenn man in Lagos ist, sehr empfehlenswert!

Comedor pequeño y familiar (diez mesas) Cocina impresionante, para volver cuántas veces quieras. Comimos Cataplana mixta (gambas y almejas) y se nos saltaban las lágrimas de felicidad. Muy recomendable...
El trato familiar y muy correcto.
Solo aceptan reservas antes de las 19:00 y a las 18:30 ya hay una cola importante.
Nosotros hemos ido a mediodía y lo máximo que hemos esperado sin reserva ha sido media hora.
Precio correcto.

Et une fois à l'intérieur l'accueil n'est pas au top de ce qu'on peut attendre d'un resto "basique " portugais..et je suis portugais....les plats sont bons mais je pense qu'on peut trouver mieux, moins cher et plus accueillant. Les locaux considèrent ce restaurant comme le meilleur à Lagos. Il est vrai que, dans la catégorie de cuisine locale, c'est sans doute le meilleur. La réservation est hautement conseillée, sinon l'attente de 30 à 45 minutes. Choisir l'incontournable CATAPLA pour deux personnes. Service sympathique de ce restaurant familial (le mari est au fourneau, l'épouse est dans la salle. Pensez au petit pourboire pour le serveur qui fait de son mieux). ). Fermé le dimanche et le lundi midi. Paiement en espèces uniquement.

I have been coming to this restaurant for three seperate years on many occassions. There is normally a queue depending on the time you arrive but this is for a reason as there food is really really good so it's your choice if you wish to wait to be seated.
I always order: Prawns Casinha style(secret Chef creamy smokey sauce) / Clams (oil, wine, Parsley, Coriander & lots of garlic with blends in with all the above ingredients).
Bread, Salad, rice or chips.
Dessert: Home made Flan, range of other home made desserts.
Important: Simple straight forward good Portuguese home cooking type restaurant. The same chef has been there for three separate years I have visited this is why the business is a success.
Main waiter is always on the ball, understandably rushed off his feet but very attentive. Wouldn't be the same without him.
No reservations as they are always busy but where possible will always accommodate.
INSTRUCTION: IF WHEN YOU ARRIVE THERE IS A QUEUE OUTSIDE THE RESTAURANT THE BEST THING TO DO IS IGNORE QUEUE WALK STAIGHT IN AND ASK IF YOU CAN BE PUT ON THE WAITING LIST. HERE YOU CAN SEE THE APPROX WAITING TIME AND IT IS AT THIS POINT YOU MAKE YOUR CHOICE WAIT FOR AMAZING FOOD OR MOVE ON.

É um espaço cheio de amor pelo ofício. Só assim se explica uma parte do êxito, o que faz as pessoas esperarem tanto tempo à espera de mesa. É claro que a outra parte é um misto de excelente cozinha, comida abundante e saborosa, e feita à vista . A simpatia dos proprietários pode explicar o resto. Mas ter clientes fiéis e, ainda por cima, de todo o Mundo, é um sinal de que ali há uma combina perfeita. José Venade

La calidad y la relación calidad precio espectacular es sin duda un sitio de referencia en lagos de hecho reservamos el jueves y no nos dieron para poder comer hasta el martes así que si reservas hazlo con tiempo desde luego vale la pena éramos 8 personas y pagamos 91 € comiendo espectacular sobre todo la cataplana de marisco una auténtica pasada

Exellent adresse, la meilleur cataplana sans hésité ! La sauce est à faire frémir les papilles! Petit restaurant, le service est impecable, il ne parle pas francais mais on se fait comprend. Il faut penser à reservé ou venir tôt ! Avant 19h!

Es un sitio espectacular. Su comida de lo mejor y el atendimiento muy bueno. Eso sí, si no hacéis reserva el dia anterior (por la mañana) os va a tocar esperar un poco. Tampoco penséis ir a comer a la hora española (14:00/14:30) ya que este sitio cierra a las 14:30. Dejo tarjeta abajo con el número de teléfono.
It is an amazing place to eat. It's food is pretty much one of the best you can eat around and very good service. If you want to avoid queues it is important that you book the day before (in the morning) or ... you'll have to wait. It is also important not to go for a late lunch as it closes at 14:30. Un sitio muy muy pequeño, casi comes codo con codo con otras mesas pero muy buen ambiente.
El personal muy amable.
Importante: no admiten pago con tarjeta pero a 3 minutos a pie de allí hay un cajero.

Best restaurant in Lagos! Be sure to have the house prawns - they are amazing!! (take wet wipes as you'll be cleaning the prawns with your hands like everyone else in the restaurant). Be sure to make a reservation to avoid the long queue. Staff were super friendly and spoke English =)

A must when visiting Lagos. A small restaurant, so reservation is recommended, otherwise a very long wait on the street. The "Cataplan" mixta (shrimp & clams) was an eye opener. Service is efficient and friendly and not overbearing. Highly recommended.

Our experience would have been good if it weren't for having to wait 1.5 hours instead of being told it would only be .5, and if the servers weren't so rude. It's so rare that I ever come across rude servers in Potugal, and the people working at this place were the only ones. We ordered the camarão ao cazinha, which was good, but it wasn't amazing enough to put up with the bad service. It's hard to mess up seafood and garlic, I could have made this dish myself. We also ordered a side of rice, which oddly enough, came with cardamom pods and a couple slithers of grated carrot. There are many other places in Lagos that serve decent food without having to put you in a bad mood.

We ordered the Prawns with clams which came with a side of potato chips and rice. The food here is exquisite. The seafood tasted really fresh and not overly salty. There are some dishes which you need to give 24 hours notice to order.
Well worth a visit - we'll be back.

I love this restaurant! One of my favourites when I go back to Lagos. It is always busy so you have to wait for a table, sometimes up to 2 hours in the summer! Go early around 6 as they open to avoid disappointment. Food is excellent and there is always a LOT of it! Children could certainly share! Its a very small restaurant so you need to get there early as I say and they don't take bookings, at least not in the summer. But thoroughly recommend it

Good and small, familiar place to eat, but - with an average of 4.8 stars on Google - overestimated in my opinion. As starter we had matured cheese from the mountains and bread, which were both good, but pasteurised cheese I find often bit boring as it was in this case. As main course I had a grilled Dourada, which comes with roasted garlic, fried potatoes and a mixed salad on a fairly sized plate. The taste and appearance of the fish was quite nice. The waiters were normal, friendly. The wine in half a bottle of their best quality, aged in oak (Marquês de Borba), was good and with €8.90 fairly priced, but I had better for the same price here in Lagos. The home made Tiramisu had barely any resemblance to Tiramisu, taste and texture showed little presence of ricotta, eggs and coffee, more of cream and dry biscuit.
Also here they don't use sea salt - but refined table salt, which I find unbelievable here in Portugal where they produce one of the best sea salts in the world at very cheap prices.

Great homecooking style food. Friendly staff. Menu includes more than the just typical Lagos grilled fish items. Almost fully booked for dinner for the multiple days we were there, so we came early for lunch and reserved a spot to insure a 'baby-friendly' table (they provided a portably high chair for our tiny little one).

Sitio pequeño y acogedor, el servicio del personal muy agradable, cocina abierta con un chef súper simpático y muy atento en todo momento, la comida es ESPECTACULAR!
Pedimos melón al Oporto de entrante, gambas de la casa "la salsa es increíble" y un plato de chuletón de ternera con salsa y patatas buenisimo!
Muy buen precio, todo 37€.
Sin duda es una visita obligada en Lagos, imprescindible reservar aunque nosotros tuvimos mucha suerte y nos hicieron un hueco en la última hora de cenas.
Un lugar para repetir.
